A few days later, Aizawa and Nezu gathered everyone in class A to discuss the final preparations for the battles to come. Koji's mother was watching over Keralynn as she slept peacefully in the hospital bed, two of Hawks' sidekicks standing guard outside the door. Nezu had previously informed the class about Keralynn's mother and her father's band coming to Japan and wanting to keep their arrival secret from Keralynn. The more Koji's mother has been getting to know her, the more she begins to adore her. The same went with Koda, Keralynn's mother, and her father's band members. Her mother had explained to him that they cremated her father and placed him in six small urns, each with a different color belonging to a band member. She gives him the urn that belongs to Keralynn. A beautiful light blue polished ceramic urn with a picture of her father, carefully holding a newborn baby girl with gray cat ears and a gray cat tail.
"She wasn't able to say goodbye to him, so I'm hoping that this will give her some closure. Our family and I want to thank you, The heroes, and your classmates for looking after our only daughter during her stay here in Japan. Michael's siblings have been working together with him to make a new song for her. He had been noticing how much she's grown but also the depression she's shouldering because of Lord Chuck. I've been hearing some rumors from the students in her class, that she was thinking about ending everything here. But when I hear her talk about you and your friends, she sounds a lot happier. Like she has finally found a place where she feels like she truly belongs. And it's all thanks to you and Reika." Her mother explained to him.
"It's not quite finished yet, but we'd like to play Michael's newest song for all of you as thanks for everything you've done to help our niece. We can tell that she has really come out of her shell since the last time we saw her." Her aunt and drummer said.
"Once everything with All for One and Bagheera blows over, we would be honored to host a concert on UA grounds." Nezu said with a smile.
"I'm sure I can get my folks to help out if you want." Jiro said.
"That would be awesome." Keralynn's uncle and guitarist said.
Koda looks at the picture on the urn. "He looks just like her illusion of him." He said to himself.
"Yeah he was the better looking of us brothers, guess that's why he was the middle boy." The guitarist uncle said as he and the other brothers in the band chuckled.
"Has there been any news on her quirk reactivating?" Her aunt asked. Koda nodded his head no.
"Bakugo has been trying to get the doctor to talk to us about it but he just tells us that he would need to do more tests." He said in a worried tone.
"I still think there's something up with that so-called doctor of hers. When it's our turn to keep watch over her, she's been trying to activate her quirk, even calling on the sentients. But nothing happens." Bakugo said as he crossed his arms.
"I'm thinking that it could be due to the medicine that he's giving her." Midoriya said as he looked down in thought.
"We heard that she is taking some sort of medicine that would help her with controlling her quirk. But such a drug has never been invented before." Her aunt said.
"Oh. I got to the bottom of that one, with the help of Iida and Yayorozu. It turned out to be a drug that was supposed to stabilize her emotions." Midoriya said.
"That should have been her depression medication. She has to take that every day." Her mother said as her white tail swayed back and forth.
"But the med that this doctor gives her isn't her normal medicine. He's giving her something else, along with her medicine. And it's not for pain like he says." Bakugo said calmly.
"We think that it's a drug that's somehow sealing off her quirk, to make us think that she has lost it. If we can somehow get her to stop taking it, or the doctor to stop giving it to her. Maybe the illusions will come back, plus, maybe we can get a sample of it for us to study." Midoriya explained before looking down in thought.
"While she's staying in Japan for school, Michael's siblings and I have agreed to make Hawks her primary guardian and Mr. Aizawa as her secondary guardian." Her mother said.
"You should go see her. My mother's been keeping her company everyday until our shift starts, you and Mr. Mayson's band are all she talks to her about. There have been times where we would walk in on her singing one of his old songs, crying as she sings." Koda explained as he looked towards her mother and smiled.
"Sounds to me like you're pretty smitten with her, boy. Is there something going on between you and our niece?" Her other uncle and keyboard player asked.
"If she and Skiyes weren't engaged, he would have asked her out a long time ago." Reika teased him, making him blush.
"T-Takami!" He whined as he looked away from them, hiding his blush from Keralynn's relatives. She giggles.
Tokoyami smirks as the rest of class A and Keralynn's aunt and uncles laugh. "So you are smitten with her! Well I'll be damned." The keyboard player Uncle said as he calmed down. "You're one of the few friends that does like her."
"She told me once, when she was a kitten, that she wasn't ever going to make friends or fall in love with anyone. She feared that no one would truly love her in return." Her mother said.
"I remember her saying that in one of her letters! She promised herself that she would never open her heart to anyone but me, but after I sent her a picture of Fumi and I as kids,she wished she could meet him someday." Reika explained.
"Wh-When did you send her a picture of us as children, Dove?" He asked as a slight blush appeared on the side of his beak.
"This was way back when I was working with, you know who, on a mission, shortly after I started working, and back when she was starting to reject her feline appearance." She said.
"So, it was around the time the two of you started writing to each other, just as planned." They heard Tokoyami's father's voice from around them. A portal gate opens in the middle of the common area and he steps out of it. "Fumikage, Reika, Koda. Noir has requested to see the three of you."
"What would she want with us?" Tokoyami asked as he looked at Reika.
"The twins told us that she won't talk to anyone but the three of you." Bakugo said as he crossed his arms. "I'm wondering if she knows anything about what the Doctor has been giving the furball."
"How do you know about Noir, Mr. Tokoyami?" Koda asked.
His father raises an eyebrow at Koda. "Should I not know about my youngest child?" He asks him.
All of class A, but Bakugo and Reika, look at Tokoyami, surprised. "YOU HAVE A SISTER?!" They asked.
"She is Dark Shadow's sister." He said.
"She is both Dark Shadow's as well as yours, Fumikage." His father said sternly.
"I figured that she was related to Bird Brain, but what exactly IS Noir? If she were anything like Dark Shadow, then she would be a quirk that belongs to a younger version of him. Yet she's on her own." Bakugo asked as he crossed his arms, staring at Caron in suspicion.
"Father, do not tell them anything. They don't need to know our origins." Tokoyami said as he glared at his father.
"She is Mayson's protector, so to speak. When she is in a life threatening situation, much like with the nail in the wall, she will appear. I take it that you have already found and taken care of the human that placed the poster there in the first place." He explained.
"I have, with Rock Head's help." He said smugly.
"Bakugo, he apologized, said it was an accident, and she forgave him for it. This matter is in the past now. We have other issues to take care of and prepare for." Koda said sternly.
"She may have forgiven him, but I haven't, and I know for a fact that you don't forgive him either. I could tell that you wanted to beat him up just as much as I did." He said.
"But beating people up for no reason isn't my thing, Bakugo. It's yours." He said. He turns to leave through the portal Caron entered from before Bakugo put his hand on his shoulder.
"Koda! Because of the so-called 'accident', your Kitten almost died when they pulled the nail out. The Mayson we know and you love, would have been gone forever. Are you sure you want to leave it at that?" He asked in a calm but worried tone.
"W-Wait. She lets you call her 'Kitten'?!" Her uncle and keyboard player asked with surprise in his voice.
"Only Michael and Jewelia here called her that." Her aunt said.
"She hasn't let me call her that since she was a few years old, and I fear that she may never let me call her that again." Her mother said in a sad tone.
"Now that the furball's beginning to accept who and what she really is. I'm sure she'll let you call her that again." Bakugo said calmly as he smiled.
"I'll talk to her about it when I get the chance. For now I-" Koda began to say before someone dragged him into the portal.
"Now now, son. You mustn't make a lady wait." He hears his mother say as she walks past him. She turns and waves. "We'll see you when you get back, dear." She smiles.
"Although your mother is right about not making a lady wait, I do not think Noir is ready to be a proper lady like her mother. She is still much too young." Caron said. He walks him around his world explaining that in his world, time is still. He shows him visions of his father's past, when he went to the states on business, telling him that his father had always been in the syndicate since he started college. Going to his normal job during the day, then joining the syndicate at night.
"How do you know all this stuff about my father?" He asked.
"I keep tabs on all those who are closest to Fumikage and Reika, not to mention their family members. I have been keeping a close eye on your father for a while now. He was not a human that wanted to kill. Yet he had no other choice. But once he killed someone, he then felt that he finally belonged in the syndicate. It was around this time that he started coming home less and less until-." Caron started to explain.
"He decided not to come home at all." Koda finished.
"He did not want you or your mother to see what became of him." He said.
"Why are you showing this to me now, Mr Tokoyami?" He asks as he looks towards the tall Heteromorph.
"It is most likely that he is going to visit you and your mother this evening. Either it will be a fight or just a talk, I do not know. Regardless, I will be sending my youngest son and Noir's twin with you for protection. Like Noir, Abyss will stay in your shadow unless he senses your life is in danger." He said as he looked towards a small black figure standing in front of him, startling Koda. The Black figure bows towards him.
"Greetings. I am Abyss. It is a pleasure to meet you." Said the young dark humanoid shadow.
"H-Hi. I-I'm Koda." He stuttered as he gave a small wave to the small figure.
"Have you heard anything from your sisters today, Abyss?" Caron asked.
"I have, father. Luna is still monitoring Reika's health through her shadow and everything is fine on her end. Noir is struggling to find out why Mayson cannot use her quirk. She says that it is likely due to the medication that the doctor is prescribing to her. The one that requires administration through a shot." He explained.
"She hates needles." Koda said with a worried look in his eyes.
"He administers the shot while she slumbers." Abyss said as he walked towards Koda. "Noir has been telling me that Mayson dreams about the sentient Illusions warning her about the doctor, yet she does not understand why."
"While you are there, I want you to sneak into that doctor's lab and find what he's giving her and what it does exactly. Once we find proof, we can bring him to justice." His father said.
"Says the ex great devil." Abyss said in a teasing way.
"Watch your mouth, child." He said. Koda looks at the two in confusion. He looks towards Abyss as he looks ahead, looking deep in thought. Caron looked at him seriously. "What's she saying, boy."
"She says that an animal has appeared in her hospital room. A black cat with an aura so dark and thick, that she feels that both their lives are threatened, just by his presence." He explained as he looked towards his father, then at Koda.
His eyes widened with fear. When they arrived in the hospital room they saw Keralynn, backed against the head of the bed, her breath shallow and with fear, the fur on her ears and tail fluffed. Noir knocked out in front of her. The black cat stares at her smiling widely like the Cheshire cat. "S-Stay away from us!" She said with fear in her voice.
"Enough of this, father! Leave them alone! Why are you here?!" Koda said in anger as he glared at the black cat. He gently places a hand on Keralynn's shoulder. She stands behind him, holding his arm as he firmly grips her hand.
"Koji my boy. My how you've grown. You look just like your mother. How has she been all these years?" The black cat said.
"Don't make me ask again!" Koda said as he held her hand tightly.
The black cat laughed menacingly. "Well aren't you ballsy, my boy. I didn't come here to fight. I just thought I'd stop by and say hello to our dear princess of the syndicate. To congratulate her on her engagement to our prince." He said as he hopped onto the bed, walking towards Noir.
"Stop right there, Father! Touch one hair on her head and I swear I will hurt you till you're on the brink of death." Koda said as he glared at his father.
"My my, that doesn't sound very hero like. Whatever happened to my shy, timid, little mama's boy? No matter. As long as you and your mother are happy and healthy, that's all that matters to me." He asked sarcastically.
Koda looks over at Keralynn. "Where's Takami and Tokoyami?" He whispered to her.
"He didn't come alone." She cried on his shoulder, her voice muffled.
"I see, so Reika and my sons are fighting his associates then." Caron said.
"Your sons?! I wondered who that boy's parents were. With a head like his, must've been rough on his mother giving birth to him. He didn't look like any normal Heteromorph I've seen. Is he even human?" Koda's father laughed.
Caron smirked. "I assure you, Daisuke the Destroyer, He is something far superior to any normal bird-like Heteromorph." he replied.
Daisuke looks down at Noir. "And I also assume that this young one is yours as well. She put up quite a fight protecting our princess from me, but she was no match for our resident doctor." He explained as he grinned widely.
Koda's eyes widened with fear and anger. One minute he was standing in front of Keralynn, the next, everyone saw him holding Daisuke up, pinning him to the wall. His eyes glowing a golden yellow hue and parts of his head slowly started pulsing with light. "So you're the one behind the drug that's suppressing Kitten's quirk! Forcing her to be so vulnerable that she would have no choice but to go along with what Bagheera wants! Well I won't let that happen!" He growls through gritted teeth. He leans in close to his father. "I will defeat you and Bagheera if it's the last thing I do. Skyies may be her fiance now, but once I defeat the two of you. She will be MY kitten, not his." He said in a low tone, almost a whisper. He backs away, letting his father go as he lands on his feet on the ground. "Until then, if you so much as look at her. I will put you on my personal necessary kill list. Father or not."
The light on his head stops glowing as he picks up Noir in one arm and wraps his other arm around Keralynn's shoulders. Daisuke begins to laugh. "You certainly have grown my boy. You're very brave for challenging the syndicate like this, especially with the intent of taking our prince's mate for yourself. Our King will not be happy about this." He said as he got up and stretched before walking towards the window. "Alright son, I shall inform him of your declaration of war. We shall see you and your classmates on the battlefield. I will talk to your mother for a bit before heading back home. When we next meet, we will be enemies to the death." He explained before he jumped out of the window, disappearing into the night.
Tokoyami wakes up to a sea of dark and soaked red waves and a small blue wing, rain pouring down on him. "Fumikage's awake!" He hears Dark Shadow say.
"Glad you're awake, my sleeping knight. How are you feeling?" He hears Reika say gently from in front of him. His vision clears and notices that he's being carried on Reika's back with Dark Shadow supporting him.
"That gravity villain really messed you up bad. I think you might've shattered the bones in your left leg. You might have to amputate it." Dark Shadow said worriedly.
"If the bones in his leg were really shattered and needed to be amputated, then I wouldn't be able to carry him to the hospital. I think he just has a couple of fractures." She said.
"Says the one with a bleeding gash from her head. If it weren't for me keeping you steady, then you would be down for the count. We love you too much to let you die on us again. We can't bear to watch you die again." He said as he rubbed his head into her bloodless cheek.
"You gotta admit Shadow, we're a pretty fierce and amazing trio." She said with a smile on her face.
"And that is how it will stay, forever." Tokoyami said as he smiled, wrapping his arms around her shoulders.
"You know it will, Fumikage. Never again will this trio go back to being the lonesome duo." Dark Shadow said with a smile.
"Lonesome duo huh. Need I remind you that the two of you haven't been needing to fight all alone? You have our friends and classmates to fight by your side. With the war with All for One coming up, none of us have the luxury of fighting on our own." She explained.
"You're right, my Dove. Though that is not what Dark Shadow was referring to." He said.
"Growing up without you by our side was a whole decade of nothing but complete darkness surrounding us. It was suffocating, and searching for you every night didn't help us feel better." Dark Shadow explained.
She smiles at them before looking back ahead, noticing that they were back at the hospital. She sees Hawks and Mrs Tokoyami standing just outside the entrance. "Hey big red, how's Keralynn?" She asks him.
"Your father and young Koda made it to her before Koda had a chance to touch her. He did a number on Noir but she should make a full recovery. She had found out that the doctor that's taking care of her, is a member of Bagheera's Syndicate and that Koda was behind the drug that's surprising her quirk." Mrs Tokoyami said.
"I knew there was something suspicious with that doctor. To think the Syndicate was behind the drug this whole time." They hear a young woman's voice from around them. Dark Shadow's eyes widened as he and Tokoyami see a much younger, more feminine version of their father come up from Reika's Shadow. "Mother, where are father and Noir now?" She asks.
"They should still be with Mayson, Koda, and your younger brother." She replied, looking down on thought.
"For now let's get the three of you healed up, elder brothers." She said as she looked towards Tokoyami and Dark Shadow.
The next day, as Tokoyami and Reika were sleeping in their hospital room, Dark Shadow stares at his younger sister with his arms crossed. "Dad told us that you normally wouldn't come out unless Rei Rei's life was in danger. Was her life in danger because of the wound in her head?" He asked in a slightly angered and worried tone.
She nodded her head yes. "She was losing so much blood that if I hadn't come out when I did, she would have passed out and dropped Fumikage along with her. You out of all of us should have realized that she was getting dizzy spells when she was carrying the two of you here. Out of the six of us, soon to be seven, Fumikage and you are the eldest and therefore should have seen the signs a lot sooner than I. Or have you been so busy doting on your bride that you weren't even paying attention to her actions. You should be ashamed of yourself as a half great devil and as a caring fiancee to Reika." She lectures with her arms crossed and tapping her foot.
"Wh-What do you mean 'soon to be seven'?"He asked.
"Mother has always considered Reika to be like a daughter to her, so she has always been included as part of our family." She said. She sighs and sits down at the foot of Reika's bed. "Noir looks up to you, you know. In her eyes, you are her hero. A half great devil learning to become a hero for this world. In mother and father's world, something like this would be unthinkable."
"That doesn't answer my question, Luna." He said in slight annoyance. "We've always considered Rei Rei as part of the family, regardless of her being our bride, so of course she would be counted as one of us. But what did you mean when you said there will soon be a seventh?" He asked again, this time in slight anger.
There was a short silence between them. "That is something our mother will have to tell when she's ready." She answered as she pointed towards the door.
He turns around to see their mother in the doorway. She walks in, shutting the door behind her, then sits down in the chair next to Tokoyami. "Mom, what is she talking about?" He asks her.
She looks at him and smiles as she gently places her hand on her stomach. "That is something I will have to tell you, and Fumikage when he awakens. Even your father doesn't know." She said.
"I'm sure he's figured it out, he's just not saying anything about it." They hear Tokoyami say in a calm, quiet tone. They see him sit up, looking over at Reika as she sleeps in her bed. "Knowing him, he's waiting for mother to tell him." His voice saddens.
"I don't get it! Do you kno-?!" Dark Shadow begins to say before Tokoyami grabs his beak, looking into his eyes in anger.
"Keep your mouth shut, Dark Shadow. You are being so loud right now, that you woke me up. And if you woke me up with your loud voice, then it's obvious that Rei can't sleep." He explained in a quiet, angered tone. He sighs and lets go of his younger brother's beak. "And if you must know, mother is pregnant, which means we are expecting another younger sibling. Which is why Luna says there will soon be a seventh of us."
"How do you know?" Dark Shadow asked.
"I've sensed it for a little while now. Though Luna, Abyss, and Noir are our siblings, mother did not birth them like she did us. They are extensions of father's power as a great devil, much like you are. But unlike the four of you, I am half human. I share traits with mother that- OW!" He explains before his mother flicks his forehead.
"That's enough, Fumikage. I know exactly what you were about to say. The three of them are just as much my children as they are your fathers. I regret that, at first the two of you were an experiment that your father wanted to do. He noticed that I was watching the moms with their children in this world. I guess he felt bad that I can't see my own parents again, so he asked me if I ever wanted to be a mother myself." She explained as she held his hand.
"First I asked if she saw me as a parental figure, then I asked if she ever wanted to be a mother. I knew exactly what I was getting myself into when I asked those questions, and I'm glad I did. Other than making Noel my bride, the two of you were the best thing that's ever happened to me in my long life." They hear their father say as he came into the room through one of his portals.
"How's Mayson?" Tokoyami asked.
"She's just fine, Koda's with her. Apparently, the doctor that was giving her the drug to suppress her quirk was a part of the Syndicate all this time. No surprise there. So it's going to be a while before her quirk returns to normal. Until then, he's saying that he won't leave her side anymore." His father said.
"I had a sinking feeling that it was him. So Bagheera wanted her to be vulnerable when he came to see her." Tokoyami said as he clenched his teeth and formed his hand into a fist. "That coward."
"Don't worry, Fumikage. I'm sure that no more harm will come to her while young Koda and your friends are with her." His father said.
He looks to his father before looking towards Reika's sleeping figure in the bed next to him. He telepathically tells Dark Shadow to check on her. He flies over to Reika, gently placing his forehead to hers. He looks back at Tokoyami with a smile before curling up beside her. "We don't have much time left. We must heal so that we will be ready for the war." Tokoyami said in a low voice.
"The two of you are fast healers, like your father, but it will take about a month for Reika to be completely healed of her injuries. I assume once the two of you are completely healed, you will be switching between checking on Mayson and staying with Reika?" Their mother said. The two of them looked at her, nodding their heads yes. She sighs. "Just like your father."
