Marinette took a wobbly step towards the door that Ms. Sancoeur had left open before disappearing down the hallway. She slowly entered the large office. Her heels met the carpeted floor, silencing the footsteps she took as she entered the room. She kept looking at the large portfolio in her hands. It was larger than her and she hoped it wouldnt land in the floor and make her look just like the clumsy person she actually is. She closed the large wooden door behind herself, the door clicking shut, as if sealing her future, before finally looking up and turning around. She was momentarily blinded by the winter sun beams streaming into the room through the huge windows.

The moment her eyes adjusted to the bright light, her gaze fell on two bright green eyes that were already fixed on her. She bowed her head in respect before slowly marching up with little confidence. She blamed herself that she was completely transfixed by those eyes. The man stood up, his fluffy blond curls, moving with the sudden movement. Her pupils widened as she finally took in his angelic features and not only his captivating eyes anymore.

She unconsciously reached for his extended hand, as she kept starring.

"Miss Dupain-Cheng, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Adrien Agreste. Please take a seat." He greeted her with a smile that made her knees wobble. She gladly took a seat on front of him.

Come on Marinette! Stop staring at him! You're here for the job!

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well Mr. Agreste." She said back, forcing a nervous smile onto her lips.

"I'm sure you expected my father to do the interview, but he got caught up in something else, so he asked me to take his place. I hope you have no problem with that." He asked.

Marinette wanted to snort. Of course she didnt have any problem with that! It's not in every lifetime that you get a job interview with your high-school crush! But instead of snorting, she shook her head, giving him a reassuring smile. He wiped his hands on his pants and let out a shaky breath. Marinette frowned, it appeared that he didn't to this often, judging by the way his hands shuffled with the papers he had in front of him on his desk.

"I have to say your résumé is one of the most impressive we received, considering you just finished with designing school. Can I ask you why you didn't ask for an internship during your free time here at our company? It appears you have been in numerous other fashion houses during your free time, but not once at Agreste." He asked pursuing his lips, his brows furrowing slightly.

"I was saving the best for last." She simply answered with a small smile. His mouth quirked up as he let out a deep chuckle, clearly amused by her answer. She was glad to have prepared for this question in advance. Well it was the only question she had prepared herself for…

"Although, I see you participated in nearly all the Agreste competitions. Even the junior competitions we organize every year. And even won a few of them. Do you have a few of your designs from back then? I am curious to know which designs you presented. I have to be honest and say that we don't keep an online file on the winners and I didn't get a chance to consult the archives."

"Yes, I happen to have them with me." She laid her portfolio between her legs to open it. Only for all of her designs to fall down on the floor. She blushed bright red, and she straightened in her seat, not believing the thing she had dreaded was happening to her. She mumbled an excuse before leaning out of her seat to gather all of her designs. Her breathing picked up as she hastily tried to gather everything. Her hand came in in contract with another, making her jolt backwards as pure electricity ran through her arm and whole body.

"Sorry!" Both of them exclaimed. Adrien scratched the back of his head as he handed her the paper he had picked up.

"I'm sorry, I should have asked if you wanted to display them on my desk." He seemed embarrassed, but Marinette didn't catch it as she was silently yelling at herself for making a fool of herself in front of her potential future bosss son. He helped her up, before going around his desk and making some space so she could display her designs.

She searched for the designs that made her win the Agreste competition, laying them in front of him as soon as she found one, before searching again through the rest.

She stopped as she heard him chuckle again. She looked at his hand holding the design of her famous bowler hat, inspired by pigeons. She nearly didn't make it to the competition due to an akuma attack, leading her to have to finish her hat in less than a few hours.

He seemed to have been caught in his memories as well, before a frown appeared on his face. He looked up only to see that she was looking at him, waiting for him to say something. He cleared his throat uneasily.

"Sorry… bad memories." He mumbled without further explanation.

He heard her breath hitch in her throat. She now remembered that he had modelled her hat and now she obviously knew that he hadn't licked it. This interview couldn't have been going worse. She looked down as she didn't want him to see the hurt carved in her face. Adrien was trying to find out why her confidence stance had changed. He looked down at the design on his hands, whereas his brain rewinded to what he just had said. He gasped loudly, before starting to flail his arms in front of him.

I knew this interview wouldn't go well!

"Nonono! I'm sorry, I didn't mean that your design wasn't exquisite and beautiful! It was! I was thinking about something else, I am terribly sorry if I expressed myself the wrong way." His hands rubbed at his face. He let out a breath of relief as she slowly looked up, he could depict confusion in her expression.

"I think you probably already figured it out, but I'm not the one who usually takes care of the interviews." He chuckled awkwardly, trying to ease the growing tension. His tensed posture visibly relaxed as he heard her let out a quiet giggle.

"Let's take a look at you other designs. Do you have something that you designed more recently?"

She showed him multiple outfits for men and woman. The designs would go from casual clothes you could wear every day to sumptuous ball gown and even wedding dresses. Every design was refreshing and modern, but sometimes she would take an old classic piece of clothing and modernize it without changing its true essence and origin. Adrien was truly impressed. He had already heard high praises from some designers, who now were working for Agreste, but had been working for other fashion houses before where they had met Marinette. Her letters of recommendation only spoke highly of her, praising her modern mind as well as her blooming creativity. As she looked thriugh her papers, he couldn´t help but to stare at her.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng surely wasn't someone you would encounter twice in a lifetime.

Now the question everyone dreaded, especially Marinette. Marinette can't lie, everybody knows that. She can't even lie to strangers.

"Miss Dupain-Cheng, I have to be honest and say that I have only heard high praises when it comes to you, unlike other candidates for this job. But we all know we aren't perfect… so what are your weaknesses?" Adrien leaned against the back of his seat.

If Marinette hadn't closed her mouth, she would have let out a curse word. She had told herself that since she was in designing, she wouldn't be asked such a question.

Well, she couldn't tell that she could be lazier than sloth sometimes, she was pretty sure this wouldn't leave the best impression… She could make a list of weaknesses or things she could definitely improve on herself. Her laziness was the first one, but well she was always late, always hungry, not able to work without coffee, her productive hours were only at night, she couldn't properly work without having downed a cup of coffee beforehand. Even her possible future boss's son was one of her weaknesses, but she would never admit this to him. She would rather bury herself alive than admit the crush she had had on him for years. Her hands sweated as she realized that the time was passing and that he still was expecting an answer. She cursed herself not to have discussed this through with Alya. Marinette had been sure that she would only be questioned about her designs and inspiration and plans for the future at Agreste. Had she listened to her friend she wouldnt be here right now, sweating profusely right on front the golden-haired and green-eyed Adonis.

"I-well…" She cleared her dry throat, hoping for having a few more seconds. "My best work seems to be … my inspiration seems to strike me during the night and not particularly during my working hours…" She admitted shamefully.

"If it makes you feel better, Mlle. Dupain-Cheng. You're not the only one. It seems as if every designer I have talked too, tells me the same." He chuckles along with her. Internally she was praising her quick thinking (… well it may not have been quick, but good thinking!).

"Miss Dupain-Cheng, do you maybe have some questions for me?" He asked as his intense gaze weighted over her.

The sun was reflecting on his blond locks, leaving a halo around his face, making him look more like an angel than a normal human being.

"N-no, everything was already clear about what I would have to fulfil for the job position and my tasks." She answered honestly to which he simply nodded.

"But just so everything is clear, I think it is best if I tell you once again what your job would consist in if we were to accept your candidacy. You would be assistant designer, running fetches or fabric etc. for the main designers, helping them with the sewing. You will be assisting photoshoots and runaway shows, making sure that every design is correct and looking as it should, repairing damages and helping the models with their pieces, making sure they dont tear it to pieces. Of course depending on your engagement and skills we could proposition you another position in our company. There will be probably more tasks, but I'm sure you are aware of that." He explained. "Do you have any other questions?" He asked again.

"No, Mr. Agreste."

"Well, as you know I can't tell you our final decision yet. But we will let you know about our decision in the course of next week."

"Thank you for your time, Mr. Agreste"

She smiled as she imitated him and stood up, shaking his hand and nearly jolted away as the electricity ran through her hand once again. He smiled at her brightly, making her cheeks redden. She gathered up her designs that were still on his desk and tucked them inside her map, before nodding her head, bidding her good-bye and turning to leave. She had completely missed that his own cheeks had pinked up.

"It was a pleasure meeting you, Mlle. Dupain-Cheng."

"Have a nice day, Mr. Agreste. Goodbye."

Once the heavy door of the Agreste building closed behind her, she let out a huge sigh of relief. She had been inside for more than an hour. She turned her phone on to see that she had been bombarded with messages. Her stomach grumbled, so she decided to make her way to a nearby bakery.

The bell on the door jingled as she entered a small bakery in a parallel street to the Agreste Co. building.

"Good morning, Mademoiselle. What can I get you?" An elderly woman greeted her, as she wiped her hands on her apron. A young boy, maybe her age, was filling the baskets with fresh baguettes.

"Good morning, Ill take a hot chocolate and a pain au chocolat." Marinette said with a smile.

"Would you like to eat it here or as a take-out?"

"I'll eat it here, thank you." She smiled and paid, before taking a seat near the window. It was starting to rain. Heavy clouds darkened the Parisian sky, even if it had been sunny just half an hour ago. All the stress of the last day was beginning to wear down. She couldn't even tell if it had gone well or not… She would have just to wait and see. Mr. Agreste had said that her candidature was one of the best they had received, so it probably did count for something.

She wanted to pat herself that she hadn't been drooling like a fool in front of him. She had pushed her fangirling far away in her mind during the whole interview, and now she allowed herself to squeal. She would be happy if she got the job, but she would be okay with it if not, at least she would have talked to Adrien Agreste at least once in her life! Her heart beat faster in her chest. It had been a long time since she had seen pictures of him, well modelling pictures, but damn: they absolutely needed to have him pose for suits. Even the plainest black suit looked more than great on him. His eyes appeared to pop out. They were so bright and deep, she could have lost herself in them. But something kept nagging at the back of her mind, he had seemed… familiar. Well those eyes had seemed familiar. The pictures were unworthy of his true beauty and his breath-taking eyes were the proof that a camera can't catch everything. Most people looked better on a picture, with a little photoshop, but the pictures of him did him no justice.

He was truly handsome and his hand had been so strong and warm against hers, she shuddered once more.

She was pulled out of her thoughts as her hot chocolate was brought to her. Marinette reached for the milk and slowly poured it into her cup half-filled with molten chocolate. She hummed as the delicious smell filled her nostrils. She slowly sipped, while observing the passers-by. The moment the rain seemed to stop, she left the bakery, buttoning up her trench coat so her outfit wouldn't get ruined by the drizzle. She slowly made her back to hers and Alya's apartment. Her black cat greeted her as he rubbed himself against her leg, his electric green eyes flashing in the dark entryway. She flipped the lights on, earning herself a discontented mewl from the cat, who trotted away.

She grabbed her phone out of her purse, delicately putting her map high up in the air, so her cat wouldn't start scratching it with his claws. She pulled the phone to her ear, while she started to fill herself a glass of water.

"Pâtisserie Tom et Sabine! How can I help you?" She recognized her mothers voice.

"Mum? It's me!" She heard her mother call, telling her father to come.

"So tell us! How did it go?" Her mother asked excitedly. She chuckled at her mothers enthusiasm.

"It went well, mum. But I'm not the only applying and fit for the job. They still have to interview a few others candidates." Marinette said, trying to make her mother understand that her chances of actually getting the job were small.

"Oh… so when will you know?"

"Next week. And if I don't get it, I still have that other interview in two weeks at another fashion house."

She heard the bell of the bakery jingle through the line.

"Okay, Mum? I'm going to leave you two. Have a nice day!"

"Catch up on some sleep, Marinette. We love you! Bye!" Marinette hung up.

While she couldn't get the green-eyed model out of her mind for the rest of the day, she didn't know that her own bluebell eyes had left an permanent mark in Adrien Agreste's mind.
