Chapter 8
Plenilune Tournament - Part 1
KACOCK PLANET | ARENA FOR THE FULL MOON TOURNAMENT |YEAR 741
If you were born with a mediocre fighting level, you were considered that way until the day you died, a simple and replaceable low-class warrior. On the other hand, if your level was decent or high, you could be respected by society. There were few cases in which some Saiyans managed to raise their class, even knowing the increase in power they received after having suffered great damage, they almost never exploited that ability, but Bardock, from the moment he was born, was forced to take advantage of everything his small body allowed him to exploit, to be more than just a weakling. All those thoughts had been turned to ashes along with Planet Vegeta.
When all the Saiyans started from scratch, many had to bite their tongues and keep their selfish convictions to themselves. The last 3 years, both elite and lower class warriors had to treat each other as equals, simple fellow Saiyans full of hatred for the emperor of the universe. At first it was not easy, there were many fights and endless conflicts, people were very prejudiced or at least the minority, those middle or upper class soldiers. Even so, much more than half of Saiyans were considered lower class.
A year passed before everyone finally understood that, no matter what, they were all Saiyans, a warrior race to which they should be extremely proud to belong. With that in mind, they supported each other to rebuild and live in harmony with their new planet.
However, today, the day of a tournament in which the power of each Saiyan would be decided, for that simple reason everyone made an effort to train as much as they could, since on their old planet no lower class was allowed to train as much as any other high-level Saiyan. Most thought that everything would go back to how it was before and with it the prejudices, the good thing is that their King Bardock had other types of plans.
On the planet Kacock there was a desolate part, it was far from any town, a land large enough for thousands of gigantic monkeys to fight at ease and without worries. The main amphitheater had a central platform, acting as the heart of the arena. Much more than half of the inhabitants would fight, but only the best would reach the finals to have the honor of fighting in the main event, where all those who were not winners would become spectators. Around the main arena were smaller platforms, where adult Saiyans had battle after battle, meanwhile, the Saiyan children had their own arenas. Since Vegeta's explosion, no minors had been sent to distant planets to destroy them, there were a large number of Saiyan children, it could be said that there were even more children than adults.
The Saiyan race has been extremely busy these past few years working hard to populate this new planet, there was no doubt about that.
One child after another flew out of the arena when Vegeta junior stepped onto the platform, Raditz for his part was certainly much gentler with the children he faced, but Kakarotto seemed to enjoy playing with his opponents, Tarble always climbed onto the platform with some fear, being supported from afar by his mother and Broly did not show more strength than he needed with any of his opponents, he was the most direct when it came to fighting.
The 5 Saiyan children got off their platform, emerging as winners of their respective fights. They all gathered in the middle of the crowd waiting for their next fight and confident that they would beat everyone else. Kakarotto was the only cheerful smile in the place, despite all the crying that some children were letting out for losing so disappointingly or the haughty looks of some who thought they were the big thing, the second prince seemed happy to be where he was. But his friends who accompanied him really made a strange combination, Raditz and Vegeta couldn't stand being in the place, Broly showed an indecipherable expression and Tarble, since he had arrived, sheltered himself with shame or perhaps fear behind his older brother.
This is humiliating. We should be with real fighters, we are even stronger than most adults and yet we can't fight them, it's unfair – The crown prince said, frowning at everyone around him. Kakarotto tilted his head at his brother and his smile faded a little, while Vegeta continued with his angry gesture.
Tell me about it, these inexperienced children are too weak. I was hoping to humiliate some adults, that would have been more interesting – Vegeta was by far the most outraged, his father had promised him good fights, however, as soon as he found out that he would be in the puppies section of the tournament, he made a big scene for his father and earned a good blow to the head for his tantrum. That blow still hurt, but he was really upset, the only interesting thing about this tournament turned out to be fighting against those he always saw almost daily.
Fighting adults? I don't know if I could do that – Tarble preferred to sit on the ground with Kakarotto, the only friendly one of the group. Even so, he looked quite insecure among such a huge crowd. Vegeta looked at his dejected brother and responded to his cowardice with a blow to the head - Ouch! Why did you do that bro?!
A true Saiyan does not doubt his abilities. Where is your Saiyan pride, Tarble? Our father would not tolerate such displays of cowardice – Vegeta turned his back on his brother and walked away frustrated, maybe it was his discontent that he had had since the morning or maybe Tarble got on his nerves. He walked away from the group and got lost in the crowd while Tarble lamented for making him angrier.
Vegeta does have a bad temper. Don't worry Tarble, he'll surely get over it in the next round – Kakarotto followed Vegeta with his gaze, while Tarble had become disappointed in himself, sometimes he also wanted to have the same convictions as his father or his brother, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't achieve it.
Attention everyone! The chosen ones to participate in the finals of the young saiyan fighters area are the following… Crown Prince Raditz and Second Prince Kakarot, both sons of King Bardock. Vegeta IV and Tarble, both sons of the General and advisor to the King, Vegeta III. Broly, son of Colonel Paragus. Ape, son of the General and advisor to the King, Tooma. Pinach, daughter of General Zorn and lastly we have Sinamon, daughter of the soldier Onio. These are the ones who will participate in the finals at the Lunar Amphitheater. The others may now leave!– A person in charge of maintaining order in the tournament concluded by saying: Many children left the place crying, being dragged by their parents. The named children went against the flow of the crowd. The place was quickly cleared and very soon those eight participants who stood out from the crowd were looking at each other in rivalry.
Hello, Your Highness Kakarot!– The little prince smiled when he met one of his good friends and jumped to hug him.
Ape! I already told you not to call me your highness. I hope you're ready to fight, if you stayed in the finals it must be because you trained very hard Ha, ha– Both children fell to the ground and smiled at each other
That's right, my father has been training me a lot these past few years. Maybe I can even beat you, hehe – Both Ape and Kakarotto got along pretty well when they were together, things that stopped happening because they both got into trouble very easily.
Don't get your hopes up Ape– The little prince looked challengingly at the boy with his hair tied in a ponytail.
Don't even think about cracking any jokes! Whenever you two are together, disaster breaks loose – Raditz warned them, grabbing them by the hair. Kakarotto was the first to get rid of his brother, while Ape couldn't do much against the crown prince. They may have been acquaintances, but royalty still demanded respect.
No, no, no Crown Prince Raditz– Ape trembled, while being held by the shirt by the prince. The latter, hearing the terror in his speech, let go and remained serious. This would be a long day, especially for them, they had to wait for all the adults to finish fighting and choose their ten champions – Kakarotto, come! Let's go see our father fight, there's nothing interesting here anymore
That sounds more fun! Are you coming?– The little prince asked before flying off to his friends Tarble, Broly and Ape who nodded immediately and together they flew towards the adults' area.
There were a lot of children, so the children's area looked clearly more crowded, but most of those little participants were weak and didn't exceed the ages of 3-12, but in general there were a lot more 3-year-old babies. Besides, since registrations for the following tournaments had started today, the process had been slower, surely the second tournament would be faster and more effective, most likely it would also be a lot more fun for Vegeta, Raditz and Broly, who would reach the age of majority to participate with their parents.
On the platforms for adult Saiyans, everyone was excited for a good fight, especially when you were a participant in them. Were there some broken teeth lying on the floor and blood dirtying the arena? Precisely, Saiyans did not beat around the bush when fighting, of course they knew the limits, but even so, a fight was a fight and the only thing that was punishable was killing and using some kind of weapons that helped fight. Everyone seemed very satisfied with each fight, some were losers, others winners and a few enjoyed being spectators. To be honest, most just needed to entertain themselves for a while with a good fight and have fun, because it gave them satisfaction to see that there were much stronger opponents and the idea of becoming much more powerful themselves made their pride rise to the sky. Anyway, nobody lost, if you didn't win now you could try harder and win the next one, but even so, everyone would get a consolation prize, witnessing the last fights live and in full color.
For this occasion there was no kind of elegance or formalities, but many Saiyans were surprised when they saw that their King was not wearing the royal armor, but his old armor from when he belonged to the low-class soldiers on Planet Vegeta, everyone recognized him by that peculiar hair, but if it weren't for that, maybe they would have even overlooked him. Bardock climbed onto the platform ready to fight while he looked at his opponent, who seemed to scan him, it had been a long time since he had been treated so repulsively, but considering that he was not wearing anything that had to do with Saiyan royalty, he let it pass.
It seems the universe is against you Nappa, look on the bright side, at least you will have a good fight before losing – This comment caught the attention of Nappa who was standing with his back to his opponent, while he was strutting around with some Saiyan women. He turned around and looked at his new opponent from bottom to top, because of his armor he didn't seem like someone interesting, until he could look him in the eyes and could see his palm-shaped hair.
W-what? King Bardock?! I almost didn't recognize him, why is he wearing this kind of clothes?– His surprise was evident, but Bardock simply rolled his eyes and didn't give it much thought; after all this time, he just wanted to fight.
That's none of your business, what clothes I wear is none of your business – I finish the sentence with authority, to which Nappa instinctively knelt out of respect for his King.
I apologize for my boldness, I didn't mean to...! – At this rather dramatic act on Nappa's part, Bardock did not let him continue with his drama and as he hated formalities, his brow furrowed, he was really already somewhat desperate to land a few blows.
Listen, I don't want any special treatment or formalities inside the arena, imagine me as any low-class soldier you consider scum or whatever you prefer. I don't care, JUST FIGHT!– Nappa didn't know how to react, his King was telling him to treat him like anyone, but if that was the case, did he have to follow the order he had just been given or could he do whatever he wanted? The signal indicating the start of the fight sounded in the arena and since Bardock saw how confused his opponent was, he didn't hesitate to throw the first blow.
Bardock's kick went straight to Nappa's face, leaving him stunned but not losing enough balance to stay on his feet. Nappa reacted by avoiding another punch from Bardock as he gave him a mocking smile. Nappa's brow furrowed at this kind of mockery and he understood, if his King gave him permission to attack then he would attack. The robust Saiyan lunged at Bardock with all his weight, but Bardock didn't bother to dodge, on the contrary, he stopped each and every punch that Nappa tried to connect.
Is that all Nappa? What a disappointment, I thought Vegeta's squad had better soldiers, apparently I was wrong – The comment only made Nappa even more furious. When he tried to headbutt his opponent, Bardock was much faster and with a simple punch to the stomach he knocked the wind out of Nappa and sent him out of the arena. It wasn't that he was a bad fighter, Bardock just wasn't the right opponent for Nappa.
The winner of this fight is Bardock, even so, the Saiyan Nappa is at a much higher fighting level than most, at the end of the tournament we will give you his results in terms of power – The mediator of that platform announced. Bardock jumped down and helped the injured Nappa to get up. He may have used a little too much force when he sent him flying. He offered him a hand and Nappa accepted it without reproach, still holding his stomach because of the pain that remained there.
Thank you, Your Majesty. I don't know since when he became so strong, but whatever, we expect nothing less from the King of the planet – Nappa smiled gratefully at Bardock, who simply seemed confused by the soldier's behavior.
Are you sure you didn't hit your head too hard? I think you're already delirious, Nappa – For Bardock it was an unusual treatment that Nappa showed gratitude? He left the soldier sitting on a bench, while he leaned his head against the wall.
It's possible, but at this point... I'm sure you're the strongest in this tournament – Bardock continued to look at him strangely, that someone as conceited as him, told him that he was the strongest of all the Saiyans present was quite a surprise. Some doctors approached and helped him to stand up, directing him to a regeneration capsule. After Nappa left, Bardock stared at the ground, a corner of his lip slowly rising and his arms crossed.
Gine was sneaking up on Bardock, when she saw the right moment she lunged at him, taking him by surprise, her arms wrapped around him and because she lost her balance they both fell to the ground.
I thought you'd be more attentive today Bardock He, He, He – They both stood up, trying to avoid the gazes of the Saiyans present, some laughed to themselves and some acquaintances did not hold back their laughter. Bardock was already standing, shaking off the dust as did Gine, it had been a long time since she had seen him wearing armor, although it was similar to his usual outfit on top, he seemed to have changed his skirt for shorts, in order to move more easily. A feeling of nostalgia grew in Bardock when he saw her, she used the same armor the first time he met her.
As a good Saiyan, Bardock preferred to look away and pretend to have no feelings, but his red ears were not so easily hidden. Tooma and Fasha arrived shortly after with them, giving a knowing smile.
This brings back a lot of memories, it seems Bardock is still as in love as the first time he saw you Gine– Fasha mocked, nudging Gine, who smiled with slightly red cheeks. Tooma, for his part, laughed in the face of his angry and embarrassed Bardock.
Not a few meters away were Kakarotto, Raditz, Tarble, Broly and Ape flying above the platforms where, as they knew, their parents were fighting.
I can't see anything from here! Why don't we go down Raditz instead? – Kakarotto shouted to his brother, who was also looking for his parents among all that crowd.
If we go down we will be much more lost, everyone down there is taller than us. It is easier to search from the heights – Raditz answered, trying to block the sun in his eyes to see better. Everyone seemed to adjust their vision, something that Kakarotto was also trying to do, but a delicious aroma met his nose, maybe he still couldn't find the whereabouts of his parents, but he immediately noticed the heavenly aroma of roast meat and the direction he had to go to get it. His stomach began to growl and when he realized it, he was already heading to that restaurant without any of his friends noticing his escape.
There they are!– Ape announced, flying towards the group of adults.
Both mothers noticed their children's scent meters before they arrived, a gift from Saiyan mothers.
Raditz! What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be on the other side of the arena?– Gine approached the group of children, Ape went straight to his mother and Fasha ruffled his hair, while Tarble and Broly remained with Raditz
They have already chosen the finalists, all of us were the only ones chosen together with two other girls whose names I don't remember – The crown prince answered his mother, a smile broke out on her face when she learned that her children had been chosen for the finals. Bardock had also heard the news and was equally proud, although he had already assumed it.
Nice to meet you Raditz! I knew you'd make it!– Gine pounced not only on her eldest son, it was a group hug between Broly, Tarble and Raditz.
Bardock and Tooma watched the scene with amusement. As the children squirmed in Gine's arms, Bardcok noticed someone's absence.
Raditz, where is Kakarot?– This caught everyone's attention. Gine quickly released the children to allow Raditz to speak, who stopped to look around, realizing his brother was missing, his eyes rolled back in shock.
I... I swear he was here. Didn't you see where he went?– Raditz looked at his friends, completely denying that he knew the whereabouts of the second prince – Dad, I…
Bardock's brow furrowed and he also started looking around for him, as did Tooma who seemed rather nervous about what Bardock would do.
That kid is going to give me gray hair sooner than I thought – Bardock was about to look for him from above, until Gine took his arm and with this he was able to stop his flight
Kakarotto is fine Bardock, he is probably eating or in a restaurant not far from here. I am sure he will return at the right time, besides you both know that he can take care of himself very well. It is not your fault Raditz, you know how slippery your brother is, he always lets himself be guided by his stomach – Bardock was a little confused by Gine's arguments, but her smile seemed to give him some confidence.
But...– Gine interrupted whatever Bardock had to say about it.
Bardock, Kakarot has been spending too much time in the palace working hard every day to train and honestly he just wants to go out to eat delicious things. That won't cause any inconvenience in his training. Maybe he needs to be alone for a while eating everything that comes his way – Gine finished, to which Bardock could not reproach her.
Since Bardock was able to start training his youngest son, he had always tried to bring out his full potential, reaching from 2 units to 5 thousand in a whole year, there were times when he literally pushed him to the limit in all training. His small body had also collapsed on some occasions, but none of that was an impediment for long, he even came back stronger because of the Zenkai. That was the Saiyan training that everyone received, although for Kakarotto it sometimes turned out to be three times as heavy, to get more results in less time. It's not like Bardock was a tyrant with his son when training, but it was the law that Kakarotto had to take all training very seriously, unconsciously sometimes applying the same disciplines that he had to endure from his father, a person he did not want to be like. He had to apologize to his son a few times so that he would continue training with him. Also both Gine and Tooma had to talk to Bardock so that he would not be so hard on Kakarotto's training. In the end, he followed his advice and Kakarotto seemed to enjoy his learning more. After that, everything seemed to have improved, but the second prince's escapes were something slightly new, apparently he was already looking to explore the world like any Saiyan child his age, but he hesitated whether to give him such a big permission, not for his safety, but rather for that of the Planet. Maybe Kakarotto was a bit mischievous, but that was not even the tip of the iceberg, just by his hair he could easily be recognized as his son and in the few years they had been in Kacock, there had been cases of spies and mercenaries seeking to prove to Frieza that the Saiyan race was still alive, thanks to the many efforts, security had also been greatly improved and all those spies were eradicated in time. But if at some point one of them managed to capture just a photo of his son and send it to Frieza, most likely he would not stop until he found them, after all that hair was very common in the royal family. That idea was always Bardock's paranoia talking, but he still kept mulling over the possibilities.
Bardock looked at Gine with complete conviction, so she let out a heavy sigh and crossed her arms with a serious but calm expression. Everyone smiled in relief that Bardock hadn't exploded as he usually does.
Meanwhile, Kakarotto was eating everything he could at a street stall. With so many people, no one could see very well, so the boy went unnoticed. With a full belly and a happy heart, the second prince walked happily through the streets that led to the combat platforms. It wasn't long before he came across someone he knew who seemed to be in a hurry.
Vegeta! Where have you been? I thought you were back with Raditz and Tarble – The boy with flame hair stopped in front of him
Kakarot? What are you doing here? You're not supposed to be that far from the main Arena – I ask the prince, somewhat surprised.
Well, if they haven't sent anyone for me yet, it means they're either not upset or they just haven't noticed – The boy replied with a smile, taking a bun out of his sleeve and happily putting it in his mouth. Vegeta didn't pay much attention, he seemed to be on alert – What's wrong Vegeta, were you following someone? You were in a hurry – The second Prince looked around to see what was drawing Vegeta's interest so much.
It's not that. I had just gone to the bathroom when I came across a very particular smell. I hadn't smelled another race in a long time, it seemed very strange to me, so I followed its trail. Can't you smell it, Kakarot?– The child raised his head sniffing the air, at this the minor did the same and precisely felt it too.
When Saiyans are children they usually have a more developed sense of smell than average, but it deteriorates over time.
You're right Vegeta, that smell doesn't sound like a Saiyan's. What a strange smell – Kakarotto closed his eyes as he smelled, he wanted to know where that smell was coming from, it didn't seem to be too far from them – I've found his trail! – Kakarotto began to be guided by his sense of smell and Vegeta began to follow him, but making sure he wasn't wrong.
Both Saiyans came to a dead-end passage, they were quite stealthy and although the smaller boy wanted to enter, Vegeta stopped him to look into the distance, the smell was very strong there. And since Vegeta knew what the smell of other extraterrestrial races was, he knew that whatever that thing was, it was not a Saiyan.
An alien with purple skin came out of a box full of cloth, looking like it was drowning and coming to the surface to get some fresh air. Kakarotto was about to open his mouth, if it weren't for Vegeta grabbing him and keeping his mouth shut, they would surely have already seen them.
Finally! Any more and I'll drown inside that thing – Jaco stood up next to that big box and started looking around after taking a breath – Where could Kramis be? Well, maybe I was the first to arrive. Or could they have captured him? – Jaco grabbed his chin and thought about everything that could have happened to his partner. He truly hoped that nothing bad had happened to him, because if that turned out to be the case, he would have to fight those Saiyans to rescue him and after all the fights he saw undercover, he prefers to stay as far away from the place as he can and get out of there as soon as possible. The sound of his transmitter brought him out of his thoughts, with Kramis being the one speaking through it.
Jaco! Jaco! Can you hear me? Jaco! Answer!– Jaco grabbed the small device and prepared to answer despite the poor signal.
Here I am Kramis, I thought you were dead, I never thought to say it, but it's comforting to hear your voice– The Galactic Patrolman praised Kramis, who seemed to be having problems with his signal.
Listen! The Galactic King just contacted me, he ordered us to send him the coordinates of this planet immediately. We can't wait until we get to the base, you have to do it now Jaco – Before that message Jaco had a serious face, but with determination, if the King himself had contacted them it was something urgent, the entire Galactic Patrol had fought hard to find the Saiyans and now that the two of them had succeeded after so many years following clues, perhaps that would give them the promotion to Elite Patrollers. A smile formed on Jaco's face as he thought about it.
That's what I'll do Kramis, see you on the ship– The conversation ended and when Jaco was about to send that message with the coordinates, Vegeta with a precise blow to the patrolman's back threw him against the wall and held his hands with both hands.
Quick Kakarot! Destroy that thing, without it he won't send any message – He ordered the second prince, who didn't care much about formalities or disrespect on Vegeta's part. He took the transmitter in his hand and pulverized it in an instant, leaving mere pieces of it. Jaco, still conscious, regretted not bringing a spare for his transmitter.
While Vegeta was still holding him back, he created an energy sphere in the palm of his hand to shoot at Jaco who was unable to break free from the boy's strong grip.
Wait Vegeta!– Kakarotto stopped him – You're not thinking of killing him with that power, are you? – Vegeta rolled his eyes in frustration at this comment
Of course not Kakarotto, he'll just give him a caress– I answer with sarcasm, which Kakarotto could notice - OF COURSE IT WILL CAUSE HARM TO HIM KAKAROTTO! Don't you know who they are? These insects are forced by their superiors to collect data and the areas they consider dangerous are completely exterminated – Kakarotto after that explanation looked at the patrolman with uncertainty
As far as I know, we were also destroying planets before we got here – The Second Prince argued
That was different, Freezer forced us– I refute Vegeta
So why did you seem so happy about the idea of killing him Vegeta?– The older boy could only snort at that argument, it's not that he liked killing, he had never killed anything other than Saibaimen and according to his father those couldn't be considered living creatures. That's why his mother allowed him to play with them a little and end up exterminating them – We'll take him to our parents
Do you really think they wouldn't think of doing the same thing to him?– The question caused some intrigue in Kakarotto and although he knew that his father was quite severe with punishments, he also understood that it was fair and if at any time he did something wrong, surely his mother would stop him.
If he really is a villain, my father will know what to do, although he will surely have some compassion for him if my mother intervenes – The second prince finished by saying, launching a devastating kick to Jaco's head, leaving him unconscious.
And now who's the villain? You didn't have to do that, I had it under control – Vegeta said, watching Jaco faint.
It'll just be a lot easier to handle him if he doesn't try to escape, don't you think, Vegeta?– Kakarotto put his hand to his head, with a funny expression on his face and Vegeta carried the patrolman on his shoulders. Both Saiyan children took flight directly towards their parents with the slight hope of a reward. After all, they had been able to prevent their planet from being found on their own, they had a well-deserved reward, but there was still someone left to catch.
It took me a whole day to write this and it was really fun, but now that everyone is older it's quite complicated to know what each character is doing in each scene lol, just saying.
Do you like my way of writing or is it too descriptive? Why do I ask? You see, I want to release a new story, it has nothing to do with this one but the truth is that it does interfere a bit when I think and think and it seems that the ideas of both work together, it's like a thorn that I've been carrying for a long time, but I don't know how much support I would get. But if someone tells me that, if they would love to see another story made by me, I would try it hehehe
I remind you again that if I see that you like my work (sending comments or opinions and even new ideas) I confirm that I will continue it until the end, no matter what happens, and although I will continue it anyway (because I write this story for fun and my own pleasure) surely with your good comments and opinions I will be even more motivated to finish it, so if you want quick updates I ask you to be very encouraged in each chapter, I put my heart in everything I write (at least that's what I try)
I hope you enjoyed it and thanks for reading.
