(AN) Hello and welcome to the next chapter of Straw Dogs: Reimagined; hope you all enjoy.

At the end of the last chapter, Karen discovered that somebody murdered her pet cat.

This chapter is where we reach the film's most infamous moment; the rape scene, so fair warning.

Chapter Three

After Amy took Karen upstairs to calm her down, David quickly took Kitty's body and placed a blanket over her before calling the police. Amy soon came back downstairs just as Sergeant Scott arrived.

"I'm so sorry about your cat," said Scott after bagging the rope and sitting down. "Do you have any idea who could've done this?"

"Chris Cawsey," answered Amy. "Kitty ate one of his pet rats and he was furious: he hit Karen and shook her, so if he's willing to do that, then he's willing to kill a cat."

"Uh, we don't know that it was Cawsey for certain," pointed out David. "I mean, h-he does seem like a good suspect, but we don't have any proper evidence."

"He physically assaulted Karen; that's evidence enough for me!" retorted Amy.

"David's right, Amy, there's no direct evidence that he killed the cat, but we can take him in for attacking your daughter." replied the sergeant.

"Thank you," replied David before squeezing Amy's hand. "That's a result."

"How is Karen?" asked Scott gently.

"Shaken," replied David. "She loved Kitty."

The police sergeant nodded in understanding before getting to his feet. "I'll let you know if there's any developments."

"Thank you, Sergeant Scott." said Amy.

Scott then exited the house. David got up and locked the front door.

"I think we should ask Charlie and the others if Cawsey would do something like this." suggested Amy.

"What!" cried David. "Amy, just leave it to the police! We've got no evidence and even if those guys did know, they're not going to admit to it!"

"We need to do something though!" retorted the blonde. "I feel so helpless."

"I know, I know," replied David as he came to sit next to his wife. "But Karen needs to realise that we can't solve everything."

The couple then hugged.

The next day, David, Amy and Karen held a small burial for Kitty in the farmyard. Karen placed a small potted plant over where Kitty was buried.

"Goodbye Kitty; I'll never forget you." sniffled Karen, wiping a few tears away.

David gave his precious daughter a hug. He'd sometimes found Kitty annoying, but he hadn't hated her.

The trio looked up as Charlie, Scutt and Bobby approached.

"Hey, what's going on here?" asked Scutt curiously.

"Cawsey murdered my cat and left it on the doorstep." answered Karen in a distraught manner.

"What!" cried a shocked Bobby.

"Well, we think he killed her," said David. "Cawsey never s-said anything about wanting to hurt Kitty?"

"No," replied a shocked Charlie. "I mean, I know he was saying he didn't want Kitty going near his rats, but I never thought he'd actually-

"We're waiting for the police to finish their investigation." interrupted Charlie's ex.

There was an awkward pause. Charlie then looked at David. "Hey, do you fancy coming on a hunting trip with me and the boys tomorrow?"

"A hunting trip?" said a surprised David. "I don't know; I don't really hunt. I've never even used a gun."

"It's never too late to learn." remarked Scutt.

"Uhhhh … okay then." said David, thinking that this was his chance to prove himself to the others.

As the men walked away, David turned to face Amy and Karen; both of whom were giving him disapproving looks. "What?" he said.

"David, as much as I admire you trying to be friends with everyone, I don't think this is a good idea," said Amy. "You don't know the first thing about hunting and I don't think they're really looking out for you."

"And killing an animal is just cruel." put in Karen.

"Relax guys; what's the worst that could happen." said David.

The four men were now sitting up on the roof.

"Well that's nice that you're trying to be friends with David." Bobby was saying.

"Who says we're trying to be friends?" sneered Charlie before snickering along with Scutt.

"What do you mean?" asked a slightly confused Bobby.

"We're gonna take him out to the moors and just ditch him," answered Charlie, laughing. "Then I'll go back to Trencher's Farm and show Amy that she really loves me."

"Charlie, I told you to stop thinking that!" hissed Bobby angrily. "I'll have no part in this! And Mrs Sumner won't want you back!"

"And I'm telling you she does!" retorted Charlie.

Scutt gave Charlie a jealous look. He really wanted a piece of Amy as well, so he decided that he was going to go back to Trencher's Farm in order to fulfil his depraved desires.

The next day, David was driven out to the moors in Charlie's van. Despite warnings from both Amy and Karen, the maths teacher was still convinced that Charlie and the others wanted to be his friends, though he was also a bit weary as Cawsey had decided to tag along and was sitting in the back with him.

"You know the police questioned me all day yesterday!" huffed Cawsey as the group exited the van. "They reckon I had something to do with killing your brat's cat!"

"We loved that cat," said David. "And you attacked my daughter, so you can hardly blame me and Amy for thinking that."

Chris simply let out a sinister giggle. "Little brats deserve to be punished if they can't keep their pets under control." he remarked.

"Alright Chris, that's enough!" scolded Charlie, pulling at Cawsey's ear.

"Here's your sack," said Scutt as he handed a sack to David. "We'll beat the ducks right to you; small they are, so we don't want to broke the shot unless you have to.."

"But uh, if you can't catch em; shoot em," suggested Chris. "They might come from up above, sir, or they might come from right behind you."

David felt a bit uncomfortable at the idea of shooting a duck. "I don't wanna-

"Stay as still as you can be, sir." whispered Cawsey.

"Now we'll be spread about," informed Scutt. "If you need us, just call; you can do that?"

David simply nodded in understanding.

"Here's your sack, Norman." said Charlie before throwing a sack to Scutt who caught it.

"You drive em to me, Charlie." said Scutt.

"I will." promised Charlie.

"Good luck sir." said Chris.

And with that, the three men loaded their guns and walked off, leaving David sitting on a rock, waiting for the others to send some ducks his way. After a short while, some ducks began flying towards David, who tried to shoot them, but he missed, he then attempted to throw a rock at them, but that didn't work either.

"Maybe I can ask them to try and draw the ducks closer to me." thought David to himself.

After checking that the safety was on, the maths professor went looking for the workmen, but could see no sign of them. Thinking that they must've gone back to the truck, David headed in that direction. Upon reaching the area where they'd parked their vehicles, the black haired man became shocked when he saw the men beginning to drive away in the truck. "HEY! WHERE ARE YOU GOING!" hollered David as he dropped the gun and chased after the truck.

"Ohhhh, sorry, Mr Sumner, but we've got to go," snickered Cawsey before giggling in delight. "I'm sure you'll be fine; hehehehehehehehehehehehe."

"You can't just leave me here!" cried the maths teacher in frustration as he continued to chase the truck, causing the others to laugh at him.

"Ohhhhh, but we have to," remarked Chris before giggling once again. "Charlie's gotta get back to the farm and deal with your wife; hopefully he won't get rough with her."

"Shut up!" barked Charlie before whacking Chris with the butt of his gun, making him laugh even harder.

"What are you talking about?" asked a confused David.

"Oh nothin', just that now you're out of the house, we can take advantage." remarked Cawsey before Charlie could stop him.

David suddenly stopped to catch his breath, allowing the truck to speed away.

"Well, you've certainly made a right fool of yourself this time," grumbled David to himself. "Oh, Amy, why didn't I listen to you."

And with that, David began to slowly walk back the way the van had left.

Back at Trencher's Farm, Amy and Karen were cuddled up together on the couch, watching TV and enjoying a girl's day in.

"This is way more fun than trying to shoot an innocent bird," remarked Karen. "Are you annoyed with Dad?"

"No, not really," replied Amy. "I just wish he'd listen, that's all."

At that moment, the doorbell rang.

"They can't be back already." said the young girl in confusion.

Karen got up and raced over to the front door. Upon opening it, she saw Charlie standing there. "Mum, it's your ex boyfriend!" she hollered.

"Yes, Karen, I can see that," replied the blonde as she came to stand at the front door. "Is David alright?"

"Yes, David's fine; enjoying himself," lied Charlie. "Can I come in?"

"Sure." answered Amy.

Charlie entered the house and closed the door behind him.

"What do you want, Charlie?" asked Amy curiously as she folded her arms and gave her ex a suspicious look.

"I just felt like catching up and reflecting on the old days." replied her ex innocently.

Amy began to feel a bit uncomfortable as Charlie suddenly drew closer to her.

"Karen, why don't you go upstairs and play in your room." suggested Amy.

"But I want to hear about the old days." said a now curious Karen.

"Now Karen." said her mum bluntly.

The young blonde folded her arms before marching upstairs. The middle-aged woman turned to face her ex, who was right in her face. Before Amy could react, Charlie leaned in and began kissing her. The blonde stood there in shock before pushing Charlie away and slapping him across the face. "What the hell was that for!" she cried in shock. "I'm a married woman!"

"Oh come on, Amy, I know that you want me!" sneered Charlie as he slowly backed his ex up against the wall before gently stroking her face, making the blonde shudder. "Ever since you arrived, I knew you secretly wanted to leave David and come back to me!"

"You're crazy!" snapped a horrified Amy as she pushed Charlie away. "We may have had something once, but not anymore! I don't love you anymore! You need to leave!"

"No, I know that you still love me and I'll prove it!" hissed Charlie into Amy's ear.

And with that, Amy punched Charlie in the face and tried to run for the stairs, but the middle-aged man grabbed the blonde and dragged her over to the couch; ignoring the terrified begging and pleading, he then threw Amy on to the couch before crawling on top of her.

"No, no, no, Charlie stop it!" begged a terrified Amy as she attempted to push her ex off of her. "Please, Karen's upstairs!"

"She'll be fine!" whispered Charlie before getting off the couch and slowly unzipping his trousers.

"Nnnnnnoooo!" cried a terrified Amy.

David was still walking down the road, praying that somebody would stop and pick him up.

David's ears pricked up at the sound of an approaching car. The young man looked up and saw a police car approaching. David began waving and the police car stopped. The driver side window rolled down and Sergeant Scott poked his head out. "Hello David," he greeted cheerfully. "You seem a bit lost."

"Yeah; I am a bit," replied the dark haired man sheepishly. "Charlie, Scutt and Cawsey took me on a hunting trip and abandoned me."

"Would you like a lift back to Trencher's Farm?" asked Scott in a sympathetic manner.

"Yes please." answered David.

The maths teacher then hopped into the passenger side seat and the car drove off.

Back at Trencher's Farm, Charlie continued to have his way with Amy. Amy had stopped struggling, so Charlie genuinely believed that she wanted it.

"W-what are you doing?" came a small, horrified voice.

Charlie stopped, looked up, turned his head and saw Karen standing there with a horrified look on her face, he then looked at Amy and saw the tears streaming down her face. "I-I … I don't get it!" he uttered in horror. "I thought you wanted me!"

A horrified Charlie got off of Amy, pulled his pants and trousers back up and turned to face Karen, who was currently looking at something off to the side. Charlie looked in the direction Karen was facing and saw Scutt standing in the kitchen doorway.

"Scutt?" said a slightly confused Charlie.

"I think it's my turn!" sneered Scutt.

"No," said a horrified Charlie. "W-what about Karen?"

"Deal with her." sighed the other man in exasperation.

Charlie felt somewhat conflicted: on the one hand, he didn't want Scutt to do what he clearly intended on doing, but on the other hand, he was too much of a coward to say no to Scutt.

Sadly, Charlie's cowardice was stronger. The middle-aged man quickly grabbed Karen and carried her out of the house kicking and screaming.

Charlie sat against the side of the house while holding on to a sobbing Karen. From inside the house, he could hear the sounds of Amy sobbing while begging and pleading with Scutt.

(AN) And that's it for this chapter of Straw Dogs: Reimagined; hope you all enjoyed.

I thought it would be interesting to have Charlie feel guilty, but be too cowardly to admit to what he's done.

And one big change I'm doing is focusing more on Amy's trauma.

Until the next chapter, this is TimeLordMaster108 signing out.
