I own nothing….
Thank you for reading.
Nahuel will still make an appearance, but FF only allows for 4 characters, and since Leah is now a main she currently deserves to have her name here. Elizabeth has a lot of growing before she is ready for either Nahuel or Jacob. I should have left his name in the description. I've just fixed it.
Leah POV:
I work all night on my wolf figurine, getting it just right. By the time the sun's rising, the wolf had baked and looked like a perfect figurine of me. It would only be fair to give Edward my first creation, because of his generous gift.
"Seth you better be getting up for school soon." I call out as I start making breakfast. Even with the death of our father and the whole wolf thing our mom had been persistent that Seth and I would be continuing school. It's how I was able to go back and graduate on time, even when Sam dropped out. I've put off going to collage because of this whole wolf ordeal. But now I've broken from the pack, I can start looking at and applying to colleges. Maybe I could even leave in the Fall?
Seth is dressed and ready for school, though still rubbing the sleep from his eyes as he walks into the kitchen. Right on time as breakfast finishes.
"Leah, thanks for cooking. But um, you are aware you're covered in drying clay right?" his comment makes me look down at my clothes. He was right, I had clay splattered all over me.
"I washed my hands." I mumble as we both dig into breakfast. We finish breakfast in silence and before I know it Seth is running out the door to get to school.
I clean up the kitchen then go into the bathroom to clean myself up, laughing when I look into the mirror and see I had a splatter of clay dried on my face. Seth had to have seen it; he just didn't bother to say anything about it.
The shower felt nice as I wiped all the grime from me.
I make myself comfortable as I pull out the Shifter Legend's book.
A female shifter can break the pack bonds, in doing so it will break the call of the packlands. Allowing the female to have the freedom to leave when she wishes. I read for hours, the book goes into detail of how to break the pack bond, but I only skim over that. Would have been nice to read that chapter earlier. But at least I had figured it all out eventually.
Once the pack bonds are broken the female shifter will still be able to communicate with those she wants in the pack. I KNOW ALL THIS, I practically scream as I skip over a bunch of stuff I had figured out myself. Stopping when the last paragraph on the page catches my attention. This way of communicating only works in shifted form, but can extend to those not in her original pack, to vampires, to witches, werewolves, and even to a succubus.
I reread this section a few times. I didn't realize there were more out there than vampires and shifters. Well we had learned about werewolves, we had thought that what we were at first since we're all wolves. But after that we didn't think witches or succubus were real.
I'm so engrossed with my book I don't even realize my mother is awake until she is walking into my room and sitting next to me on the bed (I had left my door wide open).
"Sweetheart, you've been pretty engrossed into that book of yours ."
"It was the first sliver of hope since shifting. It's full of so much information, I'm not positive if it's all true. But I think most of it is. I just got to a chapter that talked about how to break the pack bond, I didn't need that info since I've already figured it out. But it was still good to read." My mom is giving me a proud but almost sad look.
"What will you do sweetheart? You truly believe that you are immortal like this book says, that you will never age?" I can practically see my moms' thoughts working.
I don't need to be a mind reader to see her unasked questions, I've had the same ones myself. What would I do with immortal life? What will happen when my family, my mom and brother are gone?
"I'm going to be ok mom. Before she left Alice shared some information to help me, ways that they make this kind of life work. Its not something I have to worry about for a handful of years anyways mom." I try to calm her own concerns as well as some of my own.
"But eventually you will be alone." Her words come out as a whisper, but I hear them.
"I'll be ok mom." I say strongly, though I don't feel strong. I didn't want to be alone forever. Now free of the pack, it would have been nice to fall in love, but now that's not in the cards for me. Why would I want to fall in love when I'm going to never age again? "I'm going to apply for collage mom. I want to get my art degree."
My change of subject works mom starts talking how nice it is that I'm getting back into art and how sad she was when I veered away from it during the time Sam and I were dating. A year into dating I could no longer handle how annoyed Sam would get with me about being covered in clay all the time. I had thought I loved him more than anything and pretty much gave it up.
We talk about which collages I'm going to look at, she reminds me that I do have a collage fund to use. Mom keeps asking questions that I don't have answers to; "Will you stay close to home? You'd at least come visit? How would you shift if you go to a big city?"
"Mom, I don't know any of these answers. I haven't' even looked at what colleges I want to attend. It was something I decided just a few days ago." Her questions did have some good points. Though maybe I should find a collage close by to go to, so I could return home as often as I wanted, for the time being. If need I can always get other degrees at other collages once time has run its course and I can no longer be in this area.
"We will figure it all out." The rumbling of my stomach causes us to share a laugh. "I'll make us something to eat mom." The schedule of a nurse was a bit hectic and I knew mom only had about two hours before she had to be back at work.
"Thanks sweetheart, I'm going to get ready for work real fast."
We keep our lunch talk light and after a bit of back and forth I did finally accomplish in convincing mom to take the Jeep to work until I can get her car back here.
Once she is gone I go and run a patrol, I had agreed to keep helping the pack with these at least while the other boys were in school. It wasn't fair for Sam to be on his own. Though I also didn't feel the need for us to always be running the border. At least I can think of whatever I want while on patrol and not worry about any of the packs hearing me. Once my shift is up I head home to clean up, pulling on my baggy shirt and shorts. Maybe I need to go shopping for my own wardrobe tomorrow. I had grown out of all my clothes from before the shift, I was really just making due with Seth's old stuff lately. It would be good to actually get some stuff that fits. I wrap my ceramic wolf carefully and place it in my bag. I'm careful in shifted for to no run to fast, not watning to risk breaking my creation. Even then it doesn't take me long to get to the cabin, I really did need to get my mom's car back and return the Jeep.
"Leah!" Elizabeth spots me as soon as I exit the woods. She was playing with her garden. It only takes me a moment to located Edward who is peaking out through the kitchen window. I can smell the scent of food cooking, Must be making dinner. I think as I give Lizzy a hug hello.
"Leah would you like to stay for dinner?" I was so distracted from Lizzy that I hadn't notice Edward joining us in the garden.
"I only came to get moms car and give you something. I don't want to intrude, it smells like you have already started cooking." Since Lizzy was the only one who would eat it, it's not like he made huge batches of food for her.
"It wouldn't be intruding at all; Alice and I were talking a bit ago. She let me know one of you may be coming by, though she wasn't sure who. So I did make plenty extra." His charming smile makes me to smile. I doubt he has noticed but his smile has looked more genuine since Bella left. This was a smile I had only gotten a glimpse of when he would look at baby Elizabeth. Now he seemed to be just tossing the smile out more and more lately.
"Well since you went through the trouble of cooking enough food. I would love to stay. But first I wanted to give you this." I am careful as I take the wolf out of my bag and hand over the small, wrapped package. "I used the gifts you were kind enough to buy me."
His hands are gentle as he unwraps the palm sized wolf. I stay quiet as I nervously watch his reaction.
"Leah this is magnificent, you captured the beauty of your wolf perfectly." Hand it to Edward to realize it was my wolf without having to be told.
"OH that's pretty." Lizzy says, I hadn't even noticed she had walked over to us before she spoke. "I'm going to go wash up for dinner."
At times she acted like the typical four year old and then at other times she talked an acted well beyond her years.
"Come on in Leah. Dinner should be ready soon." I can smell steaks cooking along with some soup as I enter the cozy home. Edward really has done well making sure this house was comfortable, a good place to raise Lizzy.
"Thank you but I can't take all the credit, Alice did most of the decorating." It felt natural that Edward could read my thoughts, it had never felt intrusive to me. Maybe that's because he let me have my thoughts and didn't try to tell me what I was thinking was wrong or annoying. That's what the packs have been doing for years. My smile widens as I watch Edward rearrange a few books on a nearby bookshelf, making space for my wolf.
Dinner conversation goes easily enough as we talk about all sorts of things, from me wanting to return the Jeep to Edward telling me to continue borrowing it. Then Lizzy used her cuteness to twist both of us into agreeing to a Zoo trip on Friday.
I'm still smiling as the night wraps up and I'm saying goodbye. "I'll drop the Jeep back at the house tomorrow, thank you for letting us borrow it." I turn to leave when a cold hand grabs my wrist gently. Edward had stepped closer to me. I could feel his coolness washing over my all too warm skin, it felt nice.
"Leah, I told you to keep using it. Then you will have your own set of wheels and won't have to rely on taking your mom's car when you want to go somewhere. And if we're honest you know Rosalie will only complain about the dog smell if you were to return it."
I go to argue again, but he was being logical. This would give me some wheels to use where I wouldn't have to worry about how my mom would be getting to work. "We'll then thanks." I say with a smile as he lets go. I immediately miss the coolness of his touch. "I'll see you Friday."
"Be safe Leah. See you Friday." I hear him say as I get in the car and drive off towards home.
The next morning, I have lunch ready for mom just as she wakes.
"Leah, I noticed my car is back. Will you be returning the Jeep today?"
"Hey mom, um yeah about the Jeep. Edward said I could keep using it if I wanted, I thought I would keep it for a bit. I was thinking about going to Port Angelas this afternoon. I wanted to go shopping for some new clothes if that's ok with you? I've outgrown all my old clothes and I'm getting a bit tired of wearing Seths old stuff all the time."
"Oh Leah if you wait to go Friday I can go with you on my day off. We can make a girls day of it." She gives me such a hopeful smile. I really had pushed everyone, including my mom away when Sam and I broke up and then I shifted.
"I'm sorry mom," And I was sorry to deny her. "But Lizzy has conned Edward into taking her to the Seattle Zoo on Friday and has convinced me to come with her, she said I must help her pick out her next magnet." I watch closely as her smile fades some, I wanted to make the smile return so I added "But um maybe next week on your day off we can go shopping for dresses to wear to Emily's wedding?" That seemed to have done the trick and she gives me a beaming smile, confirming that would be a wonderful idea.
"Here's some cash for your shopping trip today. Have fun dear. I better be getting off to work." I thank her for the cash and wave as she walks out the door.
Time for a brand-new wardrobe. I think as I grab the Jeep keys and head out the door. Its not that I wanted to shop alone, I just didn't want to wait for mom to be off work and didn't want to miss going to the zoo on Friday.
I have an arm full of clothes when I smell them, it doesn't take me but a moment to look up and spot the two vampires who have just walked into the store.
Edward POV-
Today is the day that I had made plans to take Elizabeth over to see Charlie. It will be the first time we will see him since Bella left, I wasn't too sure what to expect as we pulled up to the house. Only slightly surprised to see Billy's truck there.
"Edward." Charlie says as he opens the door for us.
"Charlie, good to see you." I say as I usher Elizabeth in.
I don't know how I never figured it out before. Charlie's thoughts ring out easy enough to me as he hugs and welcome Elizabeth. I grew up on the same legends as Billy, Hary, and Quil Jr. I should have figured it out way sooner. Especially the moment Jake shifted into that giant wolf and explained that Bella and the Cullens are something else, something he couldn't tell me about. Then Bella had told me to just leave it as a need to know, that if I knew they would have to leave. Then a few months passes and Bella shows up here spouting off, saying she was leaving. That she didn't want to be a young mother and that she wanted more. That was the day I realized what it was, they are vampires and I'm not sure how but this beautiful little girl who has somehow grown a few years' worth of age in a few months is my daughter's biological child. "Elizabeth, its so good to see you. I've been missing you." He says out loud, completely unaware that I've just heard his thoughts.
So there it is. I think to myself, Charlie has figured out our family secret. Truthfully, it's a bit surprising how long it has taken him to actually realize it, since he grew up with Billy hearing all the tribe's stories. Though judging by all the thoughts running through his head he hasn't figured out the rest of my secret. Secrecy was the most important thing, if word gets out there in a human around here that knows the secret and isn't part of the pack family it could draw the eye of the Volturi again. Elizabeth is busy playing doing puzzles at the coffee table when I walk closer to Charlie.
"Charlie, you do understand the need for secrecy, right? There are others out there that will not stand for humans to know." I whisper, no use hiding that I can read minds, Billy already knows. And since Charlie knows our secret, he needed to know how much danger he'd be in if others of our kind found out a human was in on the secret. "We will have to disappear forever if you were to tell anyone, this would be for your own protection."
"Wait a minute…." He practically screams. "I didn't say anything out loud, I'm sure of that." Charlies' reaction causes Billy to laugh, loudly.
"No, Charlie you didn't. I'm able to read minds." I don't get any further as Elizabeth comes jumps up and comes over to us. She had heard my part about disappearing forever.
"Grandpa Charlie I don't want to have to leave forever." She's standing on the nearby couch, touching his face and projecting her feelings and words before I can stop her. But this is enough that Charlie calms down.
"Princess, it looks like you have a special talent there too." He has a smile on his face as he picks Elizabeth up to give her a hug. Bella already left; I don't want to lose this little girl also. Charlie doesn't break eye contact from me as he thinks this. I give him a smile and a nod as I go sit near Billy, letting Charlie have some granddaughter time.
"So, he has figured it out?" Billy confirmed as soon as I sat.
"Yes and he will probably be asking you a bunch of questions once we leave. So good luck with that." I laugh a bit as Billy's thoughts of not wanting to have to deal with Charlie's questions hit me.
The rest of the visit goes well and we leave with promises to come by again soon. It was an easy enough promise to make, as I can see how much Charlie loves Elizabeth.
Leah POV:
"We'll look who it is." Alices musical voice rings out as she steps into the store, Rosalie close behind her.
"What are you two doing here? Last I heard Alice you were up visiting your cousins and Rosalie I believe Edward mentioned you and Emmett were seeing all the shows on Broadway." Edward was just telling me the other day that his siblings weren't with Carlisle and Esme, instead they're off doing their own thing for a time. He had explained how they've done this process so many times through the years that's its almost become second nature. They come together for a few years, living as one big family. Then they break apart, often doing something fun as smaller groups. Carlisle normally always finds new jobs as a doctor; he liked trying to help as many people as he can.
"We'll you're right and we were. But then I found out you were going to go shopping alone, so we decided to join you." Alice practically dances around the store pulling things off the racks. I didn't need to ask how Alice knew that, she had started to be able to see a few of us wolves futures at times. She thinks it had to do with all the time we spent together. That her visions got used to us or something.
"We love any reason to shop and from the look of most of the outfits we have seen you in, you're in need of a full wardrobe re-do." Rosalie says, I turn towards her and realize she has her own arm full of clothes.
"This may be enough to start let's get you into a dressing room and see the fit." Alice announces as she leads us to the dressing area.
I do have to admit Alice and Rose both have good taste; they didn't pick anything too frilly or pink. They did well in choosing items closer to the style I would feel comfortable in but still be able to dress nicely and be more me in. Or the new me that I'm trying to figure out, the me I'm working on finding.
We chit chat about random things as I try all the clothes on.
We discuss, pottery, school, and the fact that I was able to break the pack bond. I also filled Rosalie in on the fact that Edward has let me borrow Emmett's Jeep. "OH by now you better just keep it." She has said waving a hand in front of her nose is if to imply that it smelled. But she did it with a smile of her face so I knew she wasn't really mad.
By the time the three of us are done I have a good selection jean pants and shorts that fit and "Make my assets look wonderful" or at least according to Alice. A good sized selection of shirts of all types from dressy to casual. Multiple dresses for any type of occasion. We top the look off with a few pairs of shoes and then some jackets. I deny Alice or Rosalie when they offer to pay. My mom had given me more than enough for this shopping spree.
Once we are done in the shop we walk around town a bit talking about what all they have been up to. We also talk about my immortality more, Alice promising then when the time comes, when I need to reinvent myself they will be around to help me, getting papers, changing my name, bank accounts, everything I would need to live legally among humans.
We finish up our chatting and a bit more shopping, stopping to get some new makeup and a few hair accessories. Then we're saying our goodbyes and I'm heading home with promises to see each other again soon.
It had felt right hanging out with other women, talking about things other than pack life.
~~Time Pass~~
The next few days go by without anything eventful and before I know it Friday morning is here and I'm rushing about getting ready for Edward and Lizzy to pick me up for our planned Zoo trip. I'm practically giddy with excitement as I hear Edwards car pull up. I try to keep a few thoughts out of my head as I run outside to meet the car.
Last night
"Sweetheart are you sure there isn't anything going on between you and Edward? It would be ok if there was, he's a pretty good man and a dedicated Father." My moms question had made me roll my eyes. She didn't look concerned, more hopeful.
"Mom we're just hanging out. We're not dating or anything."
"Oh, well if you're sure." She almost looked sad.
Present
"Good morning Lizzy are you ready for the Zoo?" I ask as I get seated and buckle up. Twisting around so I can see Lizzy, who is practically bouncing out of her seat as she exclaims her excitement.
She on for a while, telling me all about her last zoo visit, then telling me about the new clipboard Edward got for her so she can take notes about the animals we see today.
"Leah, you're going to help me pick a magnet, right?" Elizabeth asks when we finally make it to the zoo.
"Of course, then maybe you can help me pick mine out." I say with a smile as we all get out of the car.
It felt natural when Lizzy grabbed my hand as we all walked towards the entrance, causing my smile to widen even more as Lizzy practically danced between Edward and myself, swinging ore arms back and fourth as she hummed a happy tune.
Her excitement was contagious as we entered.
"Do we get our magnet now?" Elizabeth asks letting go of my hand just long enough to point at the gift store.
"Let's save that for last. We need to see what our favorite animals will be today before we go shopping."
We spend around 30 minutes just watching the Penguins waddle around and swim before Lizzy is ready to move on. Filling our morning with seeing Lemurs, flamingos, red pandas, and birds.
"Daddy I'm having too much fun." Lizzy says as she tries to go off to see other animals.
"Yes I know sweetheart but I can hear your stomach growling. Its time to eat, then we have plenty of day to see the rest of the zoo I promise." She wants to argue I can see it in her features but eventually she agrees.
Edward again pulls his slight of hand trick as we eat lunch, though this time since we weren't in a restaurant he was carefully adding the extra food to my plate. He had asked while we ordered if that would be ok. He didn't love wasting food, but humans acted strange when people were just sitting there with someone who was eating.
Lizzy practically inhales her lunch, anxious to get back to the days fun activities.
The rest of the afternoon is full of seeing multiple bears, big cats, Orangutan, reptiles. Finally we come up to the Carousel where Lizzy excitedly runs up to.
She's laughing and having the best time as Edward and I stand watching her from the side.
"She's really happy that you came with us today." Edward says quietly.
"I was glad for the invite, it feels nice doing something other than running around at home." I choose my words carefully, aware there are a few humans near by.
"I get what you mean, home can get a bit boring at times." His words make me wonder just how bored he gets by staying at the cabin.
"Jake said that he's learning to stretch the imprint. I wonder if it can be broken though. Billy found me this book, it talks about so many useful things but its huge, like bigger than my textbooks from school huge. It talks about how some wolves are able to lessen the control of the bond or even move on. I wonder if it would tell us of a way to either break the bond, or help the wolf to move on?" I say all this very quietly, knowing he will hear me but the humans around us won't. Not that there's too many humans around anyways.
"Your book sounds interesting." Edward says as Lizzy yells "One more ride please?" Edward nods his head and pays the ride operator. "Maybe we can look through the book together some time?"
"That would be fun, we can stop by the house and get it when we get back into town if you want?" His smile faulters lightly.
"It will probably be a bit late by the time we get home. I'm pretty sure Elizabeth won't let us leave until this place closes down."
"It's ok, I realized a while ago that I really don't need much sleep. Only like an hour every few days and I slept just last night. So, unless you're busy?" Maybe I shouldn't have just assumed he'd want me to come by tonight. We are already spending all day together, he probably has….
"Leah," He whispers my name stopping my thoughts from running wild. "I would love for you to come back to the cabin later today. That book of yours sounds quite intriguing."
Edward was right and Elizabeth stretched her time at the zoo as much as possible. Finally, she agrees to us going into the gift shop before leaving the zoo and finding dinner.
"Lizzy what was favorite animal today?" I ask as we look at all the magnet options.
"Penguins, they were so much fun to watch weren't they?" She says as we locate a penguin magnet. She holds it carefully as she helps me find a magnet, asking me what my favorite thing was and giggling when I said I enjoyed watching her have fun on the carousel. But she does help me look at the rest of the magnets, squealing when she finds a carousel one.
We stop at Mc Donalds for a quick dinner before hitting the road for home. Lizzy's chatter about the day stops mid-sentence as she falls asleep.
"So what interesting things has your book told you? Is this the book that has explains that you're immortal now?" Edward askes curiosity in his questions as he drives.
"There's a few things, such as it wasn't vampires being near that caused so many to shift. Not technically, the pack will continue to grow as long as the alpha feels a need for more members. I worry more will shift soon, Sam was complaining not long ago that there needed to be more wolves to help divide up patrol shifts better. I've also read that bit about imprinting, the book calls it a curse that most wolves fall into too quickly and too willingly. I would wager there is more information in there somewhere about imprinting and how to break the bond or help the wolf move on. Oh and a few days ago I ran across a section that talked about how female shifters can break the pack bonds, though it was mostly useless because I've already done it. It did explain that when in wolf form I will be able to communicate with others outside my initial pack. If I concentrate I can in shifted form communicate with any shifter, but also vampires, witches, werewolves, then it even mentioned a succubus. It was a bit interesting. Though I haven't tried it yet, maybe we can try it later? In the book it sounded like I could connect and hear the others reply to me." I look over as I finish speaking, he's thinking long and hard about all the information I've given.
"We can try that whenever you want. It would be interesting and could be a good safety measure for you once you leave. I've met a witch a time or two, they are mostly low magic now, and peaceful. Now a Succubus that's interesting I've heard stories, even of our kinds' believe for them to be more myth than anything. As for the imprinting part, it feels good knowing there is a way Jacob could move on."
The rest of the drive we talk about my shopping trip that had gotten interrupted by his sisters, the fact that he was right and Rosalie didn't want the Jeep back. My resolve to stay nearby for college while I still can, so that I will be able to see my family as much as I can before they grow too old. Before my not aging causes me issues to where I will have to leave. Then we discuss how rusty I feel when doing my pottery, but how much fun it has been even if it has been years since I've taken any classes.
Edward talks about his visit with Charlie and how he has finally put all the clues together and figured out that he and his family are vampires. He admits that after the shopping trip he had seen Alice and Rosalie, they had come to the cabin to visit Elizabeth. He apologized also if they had intruded. Though I was quick to admit it was fun having them. Edward fills me in on his plans to take Elizabeth to see Carlisle and Esme soon. It will be the first long trip away from Jacob and the first test to see if his wolf can handle any amount of distance yet.
While normally the drive to Seattle would feel long and boring, it was far from boring and almost not long enough when with Edward. All too soon we are pulling into my driveway. I'm quick to run in and grab my book, thankful that no one is around.
"Mom must be at Charlies." I say as I get back into the car the book safely in my arms.
Once we get back to the cabin the first think Lizzy wants to do is put up her magnet. Then a thought seemed to have hit her, where all my magnets are if I collected them but had such a blank and boring fridge. I explained to her my bedroom had a wall that I had put up multiple magnet boards on and filled with my magnets. That thought excited her and she started talking about maybe doing that in her own room. After she calmed down some, we sat at the table to play a few board games with Lizzy before Edward tucked her into bed.
Soon we found ourselves sitting on the couch, the book in my hands.
"I'm not even sure if everything in here is true." I say, but I do hand him the book. I can tell he is dying to see it.
"Even if some things are true, it could help. Even if we can't break the bond, but stretch it? It would give them both more freedom. Until Jacobs wolf learns to be away Elizabeth is stuck staying in the area or at least visiting it often."
Edwards' hands work quickly as he opens the book, scanning the pages with his vampire speed. It didn't take long for him to get close to the end of the book and the hope of finding something useful about the imprint bond was diminishing.
"Look." Edward says, causing me to scoot closer so I could read over his arm. "Like said before the imprint bond is a curse, but it can be stretched and broken as long as the shifter has retained some amount of control. This only works if he hasn't let himself become fully enamored and fallen in love with his imprint. The Wolf must work hard at building space between himself and his imprint. If he can convince his wolf that his distance is what his imprint needs he will be free of the bond. Wolves free of the imprint bond can fall in love the natural way." He stops reading for a moment, letting the words sink in. "Jacob isn't in love with his imprint, he can still move on."
"Do we think it will work?" I ask, still unwilling to fully believe everything the book claims.
"I think it is worth a shot." We spend a few more hours going back and forth about what could work and what to tell Jake.
"Definitely don't tell him we're trying to break the bond." I agree when Edward exclaims that if Jacob knew we were trying to break the bond he may hold tighter to it. I'm so immersed into our talk that I don't even notice as the sun comes up. No, it's the sound of little feat walking on her floor that alerts me to the time. Wow we've talked all night.
"Good morning Princess, what should we make for breakfast today?" Edward says as he stands and heads to the kitchen. I give my own good morning to Lizzy as I sit there watching father and daughter going about making breakfast. There was a time when I was little that I would wake up early on a Saturday and dad and I would make breakfast together. They were some of my most treasured moments. Edward looks at me and smiles, as I realize he must have caught my memory.
"Leah, breakfast is ready." Lizzy exclaims as she comes to drag me to the table, as if I'm going to turn down food. "Daddy is taking me hunting today, hunting days are the best."
I eat my breakfast listening to Lizzy's chatter about hunting and all the skills she's learned so far. She's such an amazing child Edward. I think as we're finishing up breakfast and I'm preparing myself to leave.
"Do you mind if I leave the book here?" I ask, after I turn down the option of a ride home for the third time. A run would feel nice, I had said in response.
"No problem, I'll keep it safe for you. See you soon."
I say goodbye, taking one last chance to turn and wave I'll see you soon. Thank you for yesterday. I think before shifting and heading home.
