Chapter 5
Snowblade picked a piece of chicken out of his teeth as he approached a watching Fl- NightWing.
"Er... Hello... Who are you?" the NightWing asked him.
"I'm here to see Moon. Is she here?" Snowblade said.
The NightWing looked confused, like she had no clue what he was talking about. "Moon left to the Sand Kingdom yesterday for the holidays, she should be at Queen Thorn's stronghold right now," she explained to him.
Snowblade sighed angrily, more time to spend on this horrible continent trying to find some useless dragon about a so-called prophecy.
A WindWing came storming out of the entrance and crashed into Snowblade, knocking his head clean off and onto the rocks.
Screams from both the WindWing and NightWing could be heard right in his ears, they were so stupidly loud.
"Oh relax, I'm not dead... Much to many dragons' disappointment," he said, picking his head back up and onto his neck and walking away from the now speechless idiots.
Snowblade took flight toward the desert, time to go into that blistering heat again just to meet a dragon who wouldn't even be of help.
The WindWing decided to follow him for some reason, more reminders of terrible dragons from his past were always awesome.
Snowblade looked down to the WindWing. "Why are you following me?" he called to the orange dragon.
The WindWing looked confused. The audacity of some dragons was unmatched. "I'm not following you; I'm going to visit my mother!" he argued. The orange dragon thought for a moment. "On second thought, would you mind coming with me? I feel like it would be a very cool brag to say that I met a mutated IceWing on my journey."
Snowblade sighed. "WindWings who don't even know what a BlizzardWing is..." he muttered to himself. "Fine, I'll go with you, but I'm going straight to Queen Thorn's stronghold after."
"Where are you from?" the orange dragon asked.
"I'm from the Primordial Land, the first continent."
"So, you've never been to Pyrrhia?"
"Twilight kept talking about it; Pyrrhia this and Pyrrhia that, I didn't see why she was so worked up about it, she never even told me any details about Pyrrhia... But to answer your question; I've never been to Pyrrhia before this week."
"Would you like me to tell you about the Pyrrhian tribes?"
"...Why not."
The orange dragon explained the tribes of the second continent to Snowblade, now he wouldn't have to mix up the Pyrrhian tribes for the Primordial tribes... A positive thing to be sure.
"What's your name?" the orange dragon asked.
"Prince Snowblade of the BlizzardWings. Yours?"
"Inferno of the SkyWings, dragonet of destiny... Apparently, I'm not supposed to tell the other dragonets that fact..."
They continued flying until they saw a small town coming into view, closer and closer until it was right in front of them.
It reminded him a little bit of Viper, but this town had more than one tribe living together; it had three!
Inferno went ahead of Snowblade. "Watch your step, these dragons are touchy when it comes to new visitors."
Inferno carefully led him past the watching dragons. Dragonets pointed at Snowblade's horns and whispered to their parents, but nobody dared come closer.
Eventually they came to a large building, this must have been where Inferno's mother lived.
It turned out to be a library! A big one at that!
"Returning or checking out a scroll?" a SkyWing asked from a counter.
"Visiting a lovely mother," Inferno said, rushing to the counter and a pleased dragon. A mother happy to see her dragonet again. Snowblade rolled his eyes as they embraced each other and gave his talon a bored inspection.
"What brings you here? I thought they made you a teacher, did they realize how much you stink at social interactions?" the SkyWing mother teased, giving Inferno a playful pat on his head.
"I found a book, it mentioned a SkyWing named Beryl, and since you're so old, I thought you might've known them," Inferno explained.
The SkyWing sighed. "I suppose you mean A Guide to the Dragon World?" she asked, retrieving an item from one of the shelves with the same title a flipping to a certain point in it.
"Yeah! Do you know Beryl?" Inferno asked, looking at the paper where the librarian was pointing.
"Well of course I know her... She's me," Beryl said.
Inferno stared at his mother in shock.
"A mother not even telling her dragonet her name? A shame," Snowblade said from behind a different shelf.
"Who's there?" Beryl exclaimed, she had not realized he was there... No thanks to Inferno distracting her.
"Nobody worth mentioning, just a dragon whom everyone hates... for good reason..." Snowblade said.
"Oh! Mother, this is a dragon who comes from a faraway land, he did not tell me exactly where this land was though..." Inferno told Beryl.
Snowblade chuckled. "Pantalan?" Beryl guessed.
"A little further north than that," Snowblade said.
Beryl snorted. "There's nothing north of Pantala or Pyrrhia; we've looked, and we have seers who can see the future, we would know if such a land exists," she explained.
Snowblade laughed. "I'm sure you won't be saying that in a second," he said, stepping out from behind the shelf and making Beryl yelp in surprise.
"Oh! Three moons, you weren't kidding!" she exclaimed.
"It's the horns that gave it away, isn't it?" Snowblade guessed.
"..."
"I thought so," Snowblade said, turning to leave.
"Wait! You said that everyone hates you, can I ask why?" Beryl asked.
"Sometimes the snow hides the blade, you can never see it coming, all you know is that it's a possibility of stabbing yourself while on a peaceful stroll around the kingdom." That was all he said before leaving.
Author's Note: Woah! What are you hiding Snowblade? What did you do?
Hey! Inferno and Beryl are back! Unfortunately, it's just for this chapter.
I'm just kidding, I know what he did... It was almost going to be the entire Prologue before I came up with Icetalon.
"Oh Golden Archive, we already know what Snowblade did, he let Icetalon go, that's why everybody hates him!" If you say that, you are very wrong, I get the feeling that he did something unspeakable to the true assassin. (Factually not Icetalon BTW, Icetalon is actually innocent.)
Fine. I've let you stew over it for long enough. So here are all the changes I made to The Catacombs Dragon Guide and Prophecy.
Change 1: In TPL, it was called A PearlWing's Guide to the Dragons of the Primordial Land, but I changed it to A BlizzardWing's Guide to the Dragons of the Primordial Land.
Explanation for Change 1: After TPL, the BlizzardWings wrote the guides. (Expanded in other changes)
Change 2: In TPL, you had to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the BlizzardWings, in this, they are right at the top.
Explanation for Change 2: The BlizzardWings think themselves higher than all the other tribes. (Superiority complex similar to the NightWings in arc 1)
Change 3: The kings now come before the queens.
Explanation for Change 3: King Frost was the one who wrote it originally, and he think he's so much cooler than everybody else because he's the dragon who caught Twilight.
Final Change: I removed the PearlWings entirely from the dragon guide.
Explanation for Final Change: The Council wrote the PearlWings out of history in their entirety, the only record of their existence is in a "fictional" scroll called The Mountain of Evil where an evil dragon only known as The Dragon Under the Mountain tries to control and rule all of the tribes, but the tribes ally against the evil dragon and seal her away under The Black Mountain. I will include this scroll in the TC Special at the end.
