We found kenny. But now we have a new problem. We've been injected with the same shit that created the beasts we've been fighting. We only have until sunrise. We either find a solution or become the very monsters that tore the school apart. We escaped that underground place the same way I did the first time via the ladder leading to the area with the gate. Didn't put the lid back over it this time though. What would be the point? The monsters have already broken out and destroyed the school.
After returning to the courtyard. I started to hurt. Like something wriggling in my blood. With no over choice. I went to see ms wickson. Hopefully she stopped having a breakdown and can help us. So i went to the nurses office to find the floor stained with blood. And in the corner ms wickson groaning in pain.
"Ms wickson! What the fuck happend!?" i yelled.
"You've….been infected." ms wickson said.
"So you knew what he was doing huh?" i asked.
"Herbert you've gone too far…you need to find the antidote!" ms wickson.
"So there is something that can help us…where is it?" i asked.
"In the basement…the lab…the big door." ms wickson said.
"I've been down there twice. Saw no big door." i said.
"The other entrance…the gardens…don't let him go…leonard…forgive us." ms wickson as she began to cough heavily as she took her few last breaths of life before succumbing to her injuries. I shook my head and stood up. Our only hope is to find that door. As I left the nurse's office. I tried to figure out who did that to her. And only one person came to mind…mr walden. We didn't do it. The monsters couldn't even get close to her without being cooked by the lights. And it's obvious from how much she knew that she and Friedman had been working together on this. So he couldn't have done it either. But wickson gave us an idea of what to do. Finding the big door behind it is an antidote…we know that the entrance in the gardens will lead to it. The problem is getting to it. The iron door me and kenny took last night was now locked. So that way isn't an option. Best get investigating. And what better place to start than the abandoned dormitory. People went missing there. Now knowing what we do now. It was most likely one of the places that was used for experimentation on unlucky students who ended up in friedmans grasp.
Despite this place being locked with a big lock that we needed the pliers to break. The monsters still somehow got in here and we're waiting for us. After disposing of another of those human crab things. And a long tongue zombie. I came along with kenny this time. Exploring the rooms for supplies was kind of a bad idea of this time. Considering there was alot of monsters in these rooms. But i found a flashbang in one of them. Bound to come in handy. Especially considering i used the one we had to sweep a room that was filled with long tongue zombies and those fly fetus things. We went up to the second floor. The spores in my blood…I could feel them wriggling. We needed to find that antidote soon. The last room we had to check was across a weak wooden floor. We had to walk across slowly. I'm not sure what's beneath this floor. But I doubt it's something that will let us survive the fall. And so after disposing of two infected students who were just sitting there…figured ending their misery was better than letting them live like this. I pushed the bookshelf causing it to fall into the wall breaking it revealing a hidden room. Inside was a safe. We couldn't get it open. And it was heavy. Considering it's weight, trying to take it with us would most likely result in the floor outside this room breaking and causing us to fall to our death. Luckily in another room there was a chimney flue that was broken open. Not only would dropping the box down there allow us to get to it without causing the weak floor to break. But the long drop to the first floor would cause it to break open. So we did just that. However we had a nasty surprise when we went back out. As in the other room. One of those mini cthulhu was waiting for us.
"Where did you come from!?" I yelled. Considering it was pretty close to us. I used my sword to kill it. Decapitating it. Those things are nasty. Getting close is something I wouldn't recommend. Unless you have no other option as in being cornered or out of ammo.
And so we went back down to the room at the bottom of the chimney and after disposing of another of those disgusting human slugs. We found that the safe had indeed broke open due to the fall. The contents of it was certainly helpful. Which was a map of the basement. The key to friedman's forbidden office in the library. And finally the logbook of a guy named alan gardner.
This guy was snooping around about the weird happenings at leafmore. And most likely Friedman caught wind of this guy and used him as a lab rat. Still his logbook had tons of info. Including another way to the garden entrance is via the gate where my escape route from the basement is. And also how to open the big door. By a machine that needs four statuettes to activate. One of which was in the trophy display case in the main hall. What thing that bothers me is the fact that 26 students have gone missing. What I don't understand is how the authorities didn't come barreling through leafmore. One student going missing is enough to warrant an investigation. But 26!? That should warrant a full sweep of the school! And finding the basement and having friedman behind bars. My guess…friedman has friends in high places. Someone powerful and fucked up to take an intrest and fund this research that has brought nothing but suffering and death. What is the end goal of this research!? That's what I want to know…worry about that when I'm not worrying about becoming a hideous beast. In any case. Time to head back to the library. We entered friedmans hidden office…there was a lot stuff from africa in here. We found the second statuette. 2 more to find. Another film reel. A really powerful flashlight and a key. Probably to the stairway to the second floor of the library. Re entering the hall. Mr. Walden happened to be here.
"You're still here?" mr walden asked.
"Yeah. and i'm gonna be here until I find an antidote otherwise me and my friends are screwed!" I yelled.
"An antidote? There's an antidote!? Are you…you're sure of that!?" walden asked.
"According to ms wickson. It's in a lab behind a big door in the basement apparently." i replied.
"But…how do you plan on finding that lab?" walden asked.
"Luckily we found a map courtesy of an Alan gardener. May he find peace." I said as i pulled out the map. Walden tried snatching it from my hand but i quickly pulled back and pointed my beretta at him.
"W-what are you doing?" walden asked.
"You were the one who beat wickson to death. And you'll most likely do the same to me and my friends if we get in your way. Why did you do it?" I asked. My answer came as black spores started coming out of his mouth. He ran towards the door and locked it afterwards…he's infected just like us. And judging from…that. It's obvious he is much closer to mutating than we are. And that most likely means that he has very little sanity left. Still he locked the door. So we're going to have to find another way out of the library. And so onto the second floor we go. The third statuette we needed was on the second floor anyway. So that saved us some backtracking. Before cutting open the big padlock on the door leading out of the library. I did my usual routine of sweeping the rooms for anything useful. Which were plentiful here. Ammo energy drinks. Another flashbang and most importantly. A motherfucking colt python! Hell yeah! This manstopper will certainly put those monsters down hard!
And so after that bountiful sweep. We headed back to the amphitheater to give that film we found in friedman's secret office a watch. It was obviously even further back then the last film reel considering it seems there just setting up the lab. Both Friedman brothers and ms wickson. But we did learn something important…the code to the gate. It was written on one of the papers that was being recorded…for some reason. 0582. With that knowledge. We headed back to the gate and entered the code and it worked! The gate opened. And so here we are in the garden. The first thing i noticed was shed which had a double barrel shotgun on it's roof. We managed to get it by breaking the tool rack which was what was holding it up there apparently causing it to fall down to us. As soon as we picked it up. We had a reason to use it. As two tongue zombies and a human crab came out to play. And so after me and kenny blasted these things we kept moving as we walked across the bridge.
"It's as cold as january right now." not sure if it really was that cold or if it was because of the damn spore in my blood. Anyway we found the final statuette on a table in a gazebo. But just like in video games. When you pick up something important, you get ambushed. About 5 of those ribcages on legs and a mini cthulhu for good measure. After patching ourselves up. We got moving. After a long walk in what seemed like a damn forest. We soon found the house from last night…this time i was ready…i was armed and i knew what to expect this time. And so after disposing of three more tongue zombies. We went down. The hallway was just as creepy as I remember. This is just like last night. I really wanted to slap kenny in the face for his stupidity. If we find his backpack i'm looking through it and if it really is something like drugs or weird porn I'm spreading it on social media as punishment for his stupidity. Going down the hall blasting more of those fetus flies. We soon found what was left of the guy from last night. It was a gruesome scene. A hole clean through his chest. His head was missing and in his hand was a walther ppk. Its slide locked back signifying that it was empty. And so we searched for the device that would open the big door. We found the door after a while of exploring. Now we just needed to find the machine that will open the damn thing. Thankfully we had the map. During our exploration hidden behind another of those cage on wheels. And guarded by another fetus fly we found a laser weapon…an actual hot as hell cut through something like a hot knife through butter laser. Save this for when shit really goes down. After going through a three way hallway with each having a mini cthulhu waiting for us…yeah now was a good time to use the flashbang. Which caused all three monsters to drop dead at the same time. As expected of the very place these things were made. There were a lot of them down here. And after slashing, blasting and bashing our way through many of these creatures. We found the machine. Another of those human slug things was in the room…right next to the lever that actually starts the machine. You know these things clearly don't want to be seen. But they have a bad habit of parking themselves in places we need to reach. And so after ending the misery of another human slug. We put the statuettes and place and fired up the machine. And headed on back to the door. As we arrived to the room before the room with the big door. I heard a gunshot. I entered the room and saw friedman on the floor lifeless. And mr walden opening a case and pulling a vial of something. And putting it in an injector and injecting it right into his arm. However his freedom from the spores in his blood was short lived. as a barbed tentacle from the dark went right through his back and began throwing him around like a ragdoll and throwing him head first into the big door. Normally i would say "fuck this" and leave. But the antidote we need to survive the day is in there. So whatever king of the monsters is in there. We're gonna have to deal with it. Everyone else arrived too. Good timing. I had kenny stay in the room with the other while i went in alone. Had a hunch that would be better that way. With a deep breath i entered.
"Leonard…forgive me. I almost found the formula…i almost did it." friedman said with his dying breath. the giant tree monster that was once his twin brother leonard screamed in rage…so that's what this was about. That was the end goal. He was hoping to find a cure…but with how badly his brother mutated. Would it have actually worked? Or were all the students who were turned into monsters because of an old man who couldn't face the reality that his brother was long gone? Doesn't matter. This thing was in my way to the antidote…so it had to die.
My target was five tendrils connected to the ceiling. It attacked by throwing spheres of spores and swinging it's massive barbed tentacle at us. But it's most deadly attack was a fatal shockwave of those spores. Going in alone was a good idea considering for every tentacle destroyed a hole to the above was created allowing the light to shine in. that light was the only way to avoid the shockwave. If i didn't i would have died. After cutting down all five tendrils the roof caved in. dropping the entire ceiling on leonards head. Burying him in rubble. With that done. I grabbed the case and climbed up the rubble. It turns out that leonards hiding spot in the basement was right under the gym…ironic. Considering this is where it started. I opened the case. Took a sample of the antidote and the injector. Put it in. and gave myself a shot…at least i didn't have to worry about becoming a monster for a while…but for how long? The antidote was incomplete. So the spores in my blood aren't gone…but merely suppressed. However I didn't have time to think as Leonard rose from the rubble. He wasn't dead yet and he was pissed and the laser was dry. So it was back to bullets.
He didn't have his dark spores anymore so he using his barbed tentacle exclusively now. While I riddled his ugly mug with gun fire. It seemed like the victor would never be decided, that was until the sky light in the gym opened up. Letting in some sunshine. Burning leonards flesh clean off leaving behind nothing more than his mutated bones that's going to make some crazy guy who believes in aliens go nuts. After that, Everyone else got a dose and we left leafmore. I gave everyone a ride home. Of course someone had to sit on someone's lap. And the two unlucky or lucky ones depending on if you think having a girl's rear on your lap is worth the uncomfortable car drive. Was stan and shannon. I'm sure josh is envious about that. After dropping off everyone and grabbing a bite. I went home as well. I survived the nightmare that was leafmore…but im now scarred for the rest of my life…my innocent self that was hyped to go to high school where caffeine wasn't treated like the devil. and so happy to found a group of friends is now dead…he died in that basement right next to that guy in the green shirt. And not to mention…i have to live the rest of my life with this dark unholy burden flowing through my veins…
