Here is the final chapter for episode six. Just to clarify I own only my OCs with acknowledgement to the people who offered the ideas, not any Percy Jackson, Atlantis or anything else. Enjoy the chapter.
We Take a Zebra Ride to Vegas Part Three:
(Jason's Point of View)
My head was flopping up and down. The horse I was riding on was charging with tremendous speed. I was gagged, I was bound, unable to escape. Still, I tried to wriggle free. "Stop moving!" my viper-mouthed captor threatened, pulling on my hair. "Or I'll knock you out again,".
"Stop!". Came the voice of Phoebe. I twisted my head and saw her and a black-haired woman chasing after us on Tuastos. "We're coming, Jason!".
"No!" my captor steered my horse towards the mountains. Once we were at the base, he picked me up and smacked his horse's rear end. It neighed and charged another way. I was carried up the mound over his shoulders. I cried to scream through my gag, but I saw Tuastos going the opposite way for a long while.
She suddenly stopped. Phoebe looked up and saw me. "Up there!" she screamed. "Hurry!". Tuastos dug her claws into the dirt and rock, pushing herself up.
"No!" the man put me down and picked up a big wooden stick. He wedged it under a massive boulder.
No! My voice remained muffled. And the boulder went rolling down. I was picked up again and carried higher and higher up. "By the time they get up here, we'll be long gone!". His hands slipped into his pocket. He pulled out a small statue. "Back to Atlantis!".
Suddenly, an arrow whooshed through the air. Smash! The figurine smashed. "Don't move! And don't turn around!". I lifted my head and saw the same cloaked man wearing black leather armour. He had a bow and arrow handy. "Leave the prince on the ground," the young adult ordered. He had a few bristles on his chin and dark hair pulled back with matching eyes.
"I recognise your voice anywhere, Androgeus." My captor recognised his voice. "You're a traitor,".
"I'm nowhere near a traitor compared to you, Cilix. Unlike I betray for a good cause. Now leave the prince on the ground or I'll put an arrow in your back,". I was placed down very, very gently. I kept my eyes gently clued to his face. He looked at me with worry and smiled when he saw I was all right. He wasn't trying to harm Phoebe before. In that moment, I regretted ever attacking him. "Now, step away,".
"As you wish,". A quick foot sent me sliding down.
"No!" Quickly, the man called Androgeus dropped his bow, drew out a sword and slid down the rocks, grabbing my arm before I could tumble to my most likely death. "Hang on Jason!".
"No!" My kidnapper started pushing big rocks down at us, but my saviour swung me to the left, saving me. He threw me up, sending me rolling over the surface again. The man Cilix tried to get to me, but Androgeus flipped himself back up and kicked him away. Cilix pulled out his own sword and tried to swim, but the younger and swifter man disarmed him and shot an arrow, piercing his shoulder. Cilix tried to fight back, but he stepped on a loose rock and fell backwards. I could hear his screams and the tumbling of rocks.
My saviour peered over the edge. "May Poseidon forgive you, wicked Cilix. He turned to me, but I remained scared. "Don't be afraid, Your Highness. I won't hurt you,". He pulled out his dagger and cut my ropes. I pulled off my gag. Then he offered a hand and helped me up. "You're safe now."
"Thank you," I panted. I was still quite shocked by everything, that I couldn't process it all at once.
"I'm so sorry you were captured like that,".
Now I was ready for questions. But I heard Phoebe's voice. "Jason!". I turned around and saw her, a black-haired young woman and Tuastos charging at me. They were alive. For a moment, I had feared the rolling boulder had killed them. She raised her paw to strike. "No! Stop!" I shouted, raising my hands. "He's a friend!".
(Phoebe's Point of View)
Tuastos calmed down. I slid off her back and instantly threw my arms around Jason immensely. "You're safe!".
He hugged me back. "I'm alright," he was panting heavily. Like he had been nearly killed. I looked over his shoulder and saw the same man from the Casino staring at me with interest.
"He saved my life," Jason explained. He turned to his saviour.
"Thank you," I said to him.
"I was glad I got there in time, daughter of Poseidon." he knew who I was. "Jason, listen to me. You must return to your home and stay there where it's safe,".
Jason refused. "Look sir. I am grateful that you saved my life. But we are on a quest and thanks to the gods we've been delayed from stopping a war which is only hours away from starting,".
"Your father wanted you to be safe. You must ensure his sacrifices and losses weren't for nothing,".
"How do you know, Jason?" I demanded.
Before he could answer, a booming roaring rattled the once-peaceful air. A green dragon was looming over us. We
"Delphine!" Riya growled, pulling out her flute.
But Jason's saviour stepped up. "Go! All of you, I will deal with the dragon and give you time to get to your friends. Complete your quest and stop this war, but remember, Jason, never stop running or hiding. Cause she will not stop until she finds you,". Jason tried to ask another question, but the dragon's roars grew louder. "Now go!".
"Come on Jason,". I pulled him to Tuastos, and we mounted her with Riya again. Instantly, she started leaping from rock to rock down the mounds, the roars following us. We turned back and saw Delphine about to descend upon us. Riya blew on her instrument; it began to slow down. And Jason's savour suddenly leapt up onto the dragon, lassoing a rope around her horns and steering her away.
"We have to help him!" Jason cried out.
"No time to help this stranger, Jason. We need to get Phoebe to her father,". Riya argued.
"Who are you?" he demanded.
"Jason, Riya. Riya, Jason," I introduced quickly. We left the mound and charged across the plains when all of a sudden, a yellow cab appeared out of the air. In front was Annabeth, Grover, Cody and Akeda.
"Jason / Phoebe!" they cried out together. We dismounted Tuastos, and I threw my arms around Grover, Jason hugging an overjoyed Annabeth and Cody.
"You're safe!" Annabeth cried.
"What took you guys so long?" I asked.
"It's a very long story that involves dragging Grover from a video console," Cody emitted.
"It's not my fault. The Lotus Fruit made me forget," Grover said.
"The important thing is that we're all together,". I said.
"Well done, Phoebe. You saved Jason," Annabeth hugged me.
"I can't really take the credit," I gently rejected. "It was someone else who did. He saved Jason up there,".
"Who was he?" Cody asked.
"He didn't give a name," Jason said.
"Guys…" Riya said. "This is no time for chit-chat. We need to get Phoebe to Santa Monica,".
"But what about the dragon up there? There's no way Jason's savour can handle it alone," I argued.
"He chose to deal with it to give us time to leave. Now are we going or not?" her impatient tone made Jason mad.
"We can still get to Santa Monica,". Grover said. "But we have to go now,".
"Then there's no choice," Jason said regrettably.
"I will be driving this time," Riya said, glaring softly at the scrap marks on the cab's right side. "Whoever drove this is certainly not driver material,".
Annabeth frowned. "It's my first time driving a car,".
(Jason's Point of View)
"What about Tuastos?" Cody asked.
"Actually, the boot is much bigger than you think," Grover said. "I had a peep inside,". He opened the boot, and inside was a large pit of old junk and items. The bear bawled. "Sorry girl, but you can't sit in the back,".
"It'll be just one ride, girl," Cody promised. Tuastos climbed inside, and we closed the boot. The others climbed into the car, but I stayed where I was, staring back at the mound. The man who had saved me knew who I was. And who was he warning me about? And why did he call me 'Your Highness'? Was I actually a prince?
"Jason," Phoebe spoke up. "There's nothing we can do.. There are bound to be more strangers around these parts looking for you,".
"The man who saved me was called Androgeus. He was betraying something to save me. I just wish I knew why,".
"I know you want answers, but we have to go. My dad will tell you what you want to know,".
Phoebe was right. We had to get to her father. She pulled me to the front of the car, and we sat next to Riya. She turned the key and started the car. We accelerated. Police cars were closing in towards us. A truck was about to run us over when … Whoosh!
The sea roared in front of us. The lights of the skyscrapers were so bright behind us under the dark sky. "We made it," Cody breathed. "We made it,".
"We did it!" Grover cheered.
"I can't believe it," Phoebe breathed. She was the first to step out. She stared in front of the sea, wondering if her father was going to come out.
"Your father will be waiting in the sea." Riya stepped out, and so did we. Cody and I opened the boot, and Tuastos climbed out, growling. She did not like being in a cooped-up space like that, especially one so littered with cans and crisp packets.
"We will go to your father," Riya spoke up.
Phoebe was about to walk off. She stopped and turned to me. "Do you want to come with me?"
I wanted to. "No. I shouldn't,". I shook my head. "This should be between you and him. You haven't seen him your whole life, so you two need some alone time,".
"Are you sure?" Annabeth asked.
"It can wait. This is supposed to be between Phoebe and her dad. So go, Phoebe. We'll be waiting here if you need us,".
"Okay,". Phoebe followed Riya into the ocean, and they dove under the surface. We sat down on the sand all together, staring out for a long time. But I was the quietest.
"Jase, what's wrong?" Annabeth asked.
"The man who kidnapped me was called Cilix. He called me a prince. And he was trying to take me to a place called Atlantis,".
"Atlantis?" Cody repeated. "But that's Poseidon's underwater palace? How could he …".
"There's no way it was Phoebe's father who sent that man to capture Jason," Annabeth said boldly. "And how could Jason's captor take him there when he can't breathe underwater? There's got to be more to it than that. Who was the man that rescued you?".
"Androgeus. He knew my name, and Cilix knew him. He said he was a traitor. Androgeus said My father took me away from where I came from to keep me safe.". I shuddered; everything became so overwhelming like the sky crushing down on my shoulders. "Cilix could have killed Phoebe because of me,".
"Don't you dare say that", Annabeth warned. "That was not your fault,".
"It feels like it, though,". I couldn't look at her. "My whole life I've always wanted to find out who I am, where I come from and now what if it's changing me, what if I lose my way?".
"Hear us out, Jason," Cody begged. "No matter who you are or where you come from, we're your family. Always. That's all that matters to us. You're still the same kind-hearted person we all love. Nothing you learn about yourself is ever going to change that. We got this far on our quest because of you. The Oracle said that without you, all we strive for will be lost, and Phoebe was right to pick you. She wouldn't have done that if she didn't see something in you as we all do,".
I cried a little and smiled. Akeda licked my face, and Annabeth hugged me. "Thank you, guys,".
"You know you are going to have to tell your dad," Grover pointed out. "I know you don't like everyone worrying about you …".
"I do," I nodded, crying. "I do like you all worrying about me. I don't know why I always feel like I have to prove myself to everyone to show that I'm capable of taking care of myself. But I realise now that having people worry about you doesn't make you weak. It shows how much they mean to you,".
(Phoebe's Point of View)
I walked into the sea, feeling more excited than ever. I was going to meet him in person. I had dreamed of a moment like this my entire life. Riya's legs were now dark blue fish scales. She took my arm and pulled me through the water towards a forest of kelp. And then the same Nereid who spoke to me before was awaiting, but where was my father? We couldn't be too late.
She swam forward with a sad face. "I'm sorry. He waited as long as he could,". I was too late. I had missed my chance to speak to him again. I wanted to cry. But the sea would carry my tears away. "The summer solstice passed earlier this evening. Zeus's deadline has elapsed,". We had failed the quest. We had failed to retrieve the thunderbolt. Your father has gone to marshal his forces and prepare for war. He asked that I relay a message. This is not your fault. He is so proud of you. You have been brave and strong and true-hearted. Just as he always believed you would come. And he is proud that you went after the boy he blessed. Now you must return to camp where you'll all be safe,".
Riya touched my back. "I'm sorry, Phoebe. I'm sorry I couldn't get you here in time. You did everything you could. Your father would want you to be safe now,".
But we had come all this way. It couldn't have been for nothing. "No," I shook my head.
"Phoebe." Riya shook her head.
"I'm going to see this through,".
"The quest is over now. Your father wants you to be safe,".
"No. It is too important to give up now. The war is only the beginning of Hades's plan. Something else is coming. Something much worse. My father doesn't know. I have to stop Hades. I have to keep going, and if any of you can help, then you must,".
The Nereid smiled. "So wilful. Just like him," she approached closer. "I can see so much of him in you,"
"So can we all," Riya said proudly. "As we cannot persuade you to return, I will escort you and your friends to the Underworld,".
"No, you got us here. You've helped enough,".
"I promised your father that I would help you, and I intend to keep it,".
"What belongs to the sea can always return,". The Nereid took my hand and pressed her palm into mine. Seven pearls appeared. "Each will provide one of your party safe passage back from the Underworld. Save the world, and save your mother,". With one last smile, my father's messenger disappeared into the kelp. Riya took my hand and flapped her tail.
Still, I was sad. "I am truly sorry I failed to get you to him,". Riya apologised again. Our heads popped up above the surface, and our team stood up. We walked out of the sea, her legs returning and our clothes drying themselves up.
"Well?" Grover asked. His shoulders dropped to my sad face.
"We were too late,".
Everyone sighed.
"This is my fault," Jason cursed himself. "If I hadn't got captured ….".
"No, Jason,". Annabeth objected. "This is all Hermes's fault. If he hadn't distracted us, we could have got here days ago,".
"He still let us take the car and gave us instructions to reach the Underworld," Cody said.
Still, Jason felt guilty. "It's not your fault," I assured him. "Poseidon said he was proud that I chose to come to you instead; nothing would have a difference,". I showed them the seven pearls. "These seven pearls will allow us and my mother to leave the Underworld once we find the bolt and rescue her,".
"It won't make a difference. We've failed, Phoebe," Cody lamented. "It's done,".
"No. It's only a fail if we give up," Jason said determinedly. "We can still stop this war. It's what we set out to do, and we've come so far,".
"He's right," Annabeth said boldly. "Phoebe, you've led us this far, and we will follow you anywhere,".
I was touched by their support and devotion. "Riya is gonna help us, but Cody …" I said sadly. "We can't take Tuastos or Akeda with us. There's not enough pearls and it probably wouldn't be safe for creatures like them in the Underworld,". Akeda howled. Tuastos roared. Both were sad, and they wanted to be separated from Cody. "I'm sorry, guys," I apologised.
Cody stroked their faces. "I'm sorry guys. But you can't come with us,". But the bear and the wolf didn't want to leave him.
"I promise you guys we'll take care of Cody," Jason said. "But Phoebe's right. The Underworld is not the best place for friends like you to go. We'll camp here for the night and then enter the Underworld tomorrow,".
And so, we camped on the beach, lying against Tuastos's fur for our last night, Akeda snuggled between Cody and Jason. Riya, meanwhile, chose to stay on the lookout. No matter what, we had to keep going. We may have failed to reach the deadline, but we would not fail to stop the war that would tear the whole world apart or the deeper, darker plans our enemies were planning at this very moment.
And that's another chapter done. I hope you all enjoyed it. So the man Cilix is from the Atlantis BBC series and Jason's saviour is a Greek character who is the son of another one of the Percy Jackson series' characters. What did you all think?
