Years of therapy erases almost all of Shinji’s need for approval, allowing him the chance to live a content life with his teacher and newly made friends. After being called to pilot, however, Shinji begins to realize that Gendo’s abandonment has left him with a myriad of other issues he must face as he pilots to protect the people closest to him.

How others interact and support one another change how they see one another and the world. A chance encounter with a new person is going to shift that support for everybody.

Shinji was getting tired. The world had burned, but it hadn't. He had died but he was here. What would it take to break things enough to finally move on?
