New chapter! I will keep this intro short because I know you all would like to just start reading! I actually didn't want to end the chapter where I did, but, if I didn't then it would be about twice the length (if not more) and it would have taken another week (or more because of the holidays) to get it out. I couldn't make you guys wait that long! Thank you to everyone reading/following/favoriting and reviewing! I love hearing from you guys, so please don't be shy! I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 20

She sat at her desk, unable to sleep, her mind still debating. "Just do it, Jane," she said aloud to herself. "Do it now. Get it over with. Send it." She continued to sit at her desk, staring at her terminal. Taking a deep breath, she turned on the progam. Once she was finished she sat staring at the terminal again. Her heart was pounding, her hand shaking. God, this is embarrassing. Looking at the date and time when she wanted the message to be received took a deep breath and set the message to send. There, she thought, no going back now.

Garrus sat at his terminal staring at a blank screen. Today was one of those rare days when he was off from training and didn't have anything to do. Karcissa had invited him out again, but he knew what her hidden agenda was and he was not interested. He still couldn't stop thinking about what would happen in two weeks; he would finally get to see Jane again.

I get to see Jane again, the thought made him smile. He couldn't help but think back to the last evening he had spent with her. Maybe, just maybe if I were able to build up the courage to tell her, it might happen again. He paused, sitting up as the realization hit him. They had been tangled in a loving embrace, he had tasted her, and he never had a reaction. It made sense for Jane; she was dextro-immune, so did that mean he was levo-immune?

Garrus had to find out.

He ran through the doctor options he had available to him; he never really liked any of the ones related to the Spectre program and they might think it an odd thing for him to request. Dr. Michel. She was a more than competent doctor and he was sure that if he went to her, she wouldn't make a big deal about it and his paperwork wouldn't be transferred to higher chains of command or be questioned.

Getting out of his chair, he made his way out of the apartment and towards the Wards. During the entire walk, he couldn't stop thinking of the possibilities. Maybe a relationship could work… Maybe our species aren't too different. No, Garrus, you're getting ahead of yourself. You need to see if she would even want you first. Of course she wants you! She wouldn't have kissed you if she didn't. But she was drunk, lower inhibitations due to extreme alcohol consumption. That just means she wasn't overthinking it like you are.

He was still in the middle of an argument with himself by the time he reached the clinic. The door opened and it took the doctor's greeting to pull him out of his mind.

"Officer Vakarian, to what do I owe this visit?" she smiled at him.

"Dr. Michel, I was wondering if you have the resources to perform allergy tests."

"That depends on the allergy and how rare it is. What did you have in mind?"

He cleared his throat, "Um, levo-immunities?"

Her eyes seemed to weigh him as she paused, "Levo-immunities are not that uncommon in dextros. Fewer species are based off of those amino acids and turians have been around levo-based items and species longer than other species so I would say that your chances are good to be levo-immune."

"That is good to hear. Can you also determine the level of tolerance? For instance, consuming levo food or drink? That sort of thing?"

Dr. Michel, "Ah, I see, running the possibility of being stranded on a planet or ship that serves mostly levo foods?"

"Er… sure, something like that."

She paused and smiled at him, somehow she knew he was hiding something. "Sure, it shouldn't be a problem. Let me just run a few tests and I should have them back to you at the end of the day. Tomorrow at the latest."

"Thank you, Dr. Michel."

"Please," she said as she began to set up, "Call me Chloe."

"Thank you, Chloe. You just call me Garrus."

The entire time she took her samples and conducted her tests, Garrus kept thinking on the week he could spend with Jane. As he thought about what else was occurring that week, he practically jumped out of his seat when the idea hit him. He had the rest of today and all of tomorrow to finish out his plan but right now he had to get the hard materials.

"Alright, you're all set," Chloe said. "Would you like to come in for your results or would you just like me to send them to you?"

"You can just send them. I will be busy the rest of the day."

"Alright, good to see you again, Garrus. And good luck."

"Thank you." Getting up, he shook her hand and made his way to the market district. He only hoped they had what he was looking for.

"Good morning, sir. How may I help you?" the asari asked with a smile.

That was one thing he did like about this store, they were prompt. "Morning. I was looking for a visor. One fitted for a human."

"Certainly. Unfortunately, we don't have quite the stock that we normally do, but I think we can find one that would suit what you have in mind."

Garrus glanced over each one as she set them out. He already had something specific in mind but he decided to hold out and see everything they had: two had yellow screens, one with a black support the other silver, three other visors had green screens, black and gold choices for the supports, one blue screen with a silver support and two with clear screens, gold and silver as a choice of supports. Well, I thought I had decided. When he first had the idea, he thought he wanted a blue visor like his, but now he was torn. If he got one with a clear screen, he would still be able to see all of her features. Holding up the two silver visors, one clear, one blue, he compared them against each other.

"We can always apply specific programs if you like. We have an excellent staff on hand."

"No, thank you. That won't be necessary," Garrus grinned. Damn, he really was torn. Closing his eyes, he tried to picture her with each on and he decided. "This one, the clear."

"Very well, sir. Would you like to have us send it somewhere in particular?"

"No, thank you. I'll take it today."

The asari placed the visor in a silver box with a blue interior, "Thank you for shopping with us today. Can I get you anything else?"

"Thank you, but that's it."

"Have a great day."

"You too," Garrus smiled. Even the box is perfect. I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner. Jane was always interested in my visor and now I can program one for her. With her visiting on my birthday as well, I can repay her for buying me something on her birthday. I can't believe how well this is all working out.

He was excited to begin working on it and stood at the rapid transit in order to get home faster. By the time he reached his apartment, his mind was already planning out where to begin with the programming. Sitting down at his terminal he began to bring up some of the platforms he had put into his own visor. He realized that he would need to change the output to human common which might prove a little more difficult since he didn't know it, so he would have to trust the Citadel's translator until Jane could read through it and tell him if there were any problems.

He continued to work on the programming, forgetting about food and the time. He faintly heard the chime of a standard message coming through. For a second he thought about ignoring it, but then he realized it could be about his test results.

Without taking his eyes off his work, he opened the message and gave a standard greeting, "Garrus Vakarian here, go ahead."

"Garrus," a sharp tone said.

He stopped his work. Garrus knew that voice to well, "Father," he said and turned to the screen putting the visor out of sight.

"So, you are still keeping up with this Spectre nonsense?"

"Yes, sir," Garrus would not back down from his father on this one.

His father heaved a sigh, "I thought you would have come to your senses by now. Look, I have talked to my contacts as C-Sec, they are willing to reinstate your position with them. So, if you are worried about any drop in pay or status, there won't be."

"It isn't that. I want to become a Spectre. I will be good at it. I have remained at the top of the ranks pretty much since I started."

"Did all this mess with Saren not convince you that Spectres are not to be trusted? They feel that they are above the law and are basically allowed to do whatever they like."

"Not all Spectres are like that."

"That's right, I forget you served with that human Spectre," he basically spat the word, "I didn't think any son of mine could be so easily manipulated."

Garrus fought with his emotions, desperate to keep himself under control in front of his father. "I was not manipulated. I was there for everthing that happened in the Saren-Reaper confrontation. I know the truth."

"Leave your son, alone," a voice said from off screen.

She soon came into view and Garrus couldn't stop his small smile of relief at seeing her, "Hello, Mother."

"Garrus, it is good to see you." She looked over at her mate, "You have done enough damage. We hardly get to speak to him as it is," she waved her hand at him, "Go on, shoo."

He gave a grumble but pressed his forehead to hers. Turning back to look at Garrus, he only gave a nod in farewell.

"You know he means well," she said.

"I know."

"It is good to hear that training is going well. It's quite an honor to be selected for Spectre candidacy. Do you still keep in touch with your old squad? When you were with the Spectre, I mean."

"I do," Garrus smiled. "It is sporatic. They are deep into the Terminus Systems so they are not able to make contact often. She has scheduled in time for them to come to the Citadel soon."

She gave a small, knowing smirk, "I am glad they are still safe. I am sure you miss them."

Garrus thought back to Jane's face, "I do." There was a small pause as his face fell a bit. "How are you doing, Mother?"

"I am fine," she smiled and waved her hand. "Honestly, you all worry too much. It is such a mild case you all seem to be the silly ones. Oh, your sister is here too. She would like to say hello. I must say, Garrus, it is very good to speak to you again. I wish you would stay in touch more often."

"I will try."

"Goodbye, son."

His mother moved out of view and soon his sister was before him, "Garrus."

"Solana. How are things?"

"Oh, fine, you know. Decided to continue with the military. Spirits, it was either that or C-Sec."

Yup, Garrus thought, she was the good turian. "That is good to hear. I assume you are doing well."

"Yes, but I do have some of the other officers asking if I am related to that turian serving with the human Spectre. You made my life difficult, Garrus."

"It is what brothers are for. Just be thankful you only have one." He laughed when he saw the stone façade break on his sister. "How is Mom really doing?" he asked, lowering his voice.

Solana looked to the side and lowered her voice as well, "She keeps saying she is fine, but the episodes are becoming more frequent. Nothing that interferes with the day to day, but it is clear that it isn't a small case."

Garrus nodded, "Keep me updated."

"You know I will." She paused and looked to the side again, "By the way. When in the name of the Spirits are you going to get a mate? Mom and Dad have been pestering me about what I have heard about you but now it seems they have given up and are focusing on me! It isn't fair. Get a mate, produce a few children and give me a few years of relief!"

Garrus bit back a laugh, "Sorry, I think I enjoy them torturing you more. And besides, it isn't something that is really on my radar."

"Yeah, right… You just have commitment issues."

Garrus only gave a shrug. "Well, thanks for the update. I will talk to you all later."

"Sure, sure. Seriously, though, think about that mate thing, you have no idea how bad this is!"

"Actually I do, bye, Sol."

"Bye, Garrus."

Closing the connection, Garrus shook his head. They could be a pain sometimes, but he did love his family. He began to tap a talon on the desk as he turned back to his work, debating what else he could add. Grinning to himself, he removed his own visor and set it next to Jane's. Only a few minutes had passed before he heard the chime of another message coming through.

This time, he actually looked to see who it was, thankfully it was the doctor. Seeing that it was just a file, he opened the message and began to read. He was glad to see that Dr. Michel didn't add in pointless information, only put in what he was most interested in. Let's see here… Levo allergy testing on male turian, results came back free of allergies. Currently the immunity only appears to be minor but the potential exists to increase the immunity to extend to solid foods. Caution is suggested when experimenting with levo foods. If there are any further questions, feel free to contact me.

Garrus sat back in his chair, a smile on his face.

John scrolled through the datapad; he was bored. They were only a few days away from the Citadel, and he couldn't wait, but there was one more thing he had to do; once he got the courage to do it.

"Hey, John. What are you doing in here by yourself?" Tali asked entering the room and sitting next to him at the table.

He smiled over at her, "Nothing. Just trying to burn some time. What are you up to?"

"Taking a break from disassembling all those geth. If I continue to go through all those wires I might go cross-eyed."

"You aren't already?" John asked and leaned from side to side, acting as if he were trying to see past her mask. Tali smacked him in the arm and he chuckled, "I'm sorry, just joking."

"I know…" she rolled her eyes, despite the fact that he couldn't see it.

"Are those really safe to have on board?"

"Of course!" Tali said indignantly. "Do you doubt my skills that much? I make sure that they are all deactivated before I bring them on board especially since I have been sending them back to my people!"

"I don't doubt you," John smiled, "You know that."

Tali glared at him but gave in and smiled, "I know." She leaned over and bumped his shoulder with hers.

Clearing his throat, John steeled himself, You got this, John. "Um, Tali?"

"Hmm?"

"I was wondering… when we get back to the Citadel… I would like to take you out, just us."

Tali paused, "Like… like a date?"

"Not 'like' a date. A date. A real one."

Tali bit her lip, for once glad that she had the helmet to cover her face so John could not see her nerves. "John… I'm not sure if… well… I'm not the best choice for you."

"You are my only choice."

She stared at him, surprised by how confident he sounded and the fact that there wasn't even an ounce of hesitation. "Um… yes. I would like that." The smile that he gave her warmed her heart and made her question why she had never given him a real chance before.

"Alright," John grinned, "I'll, uh, I'll make the arrangements." He reached over and took Tali's hand, giving her a light kiss. "Good luck with your synthetic mutilations in the chop-shop," he chuckled.

"Thanks, John. I'll be heading back down there now, if you need to find me," Tali blushed.

"Maybe I will come and visit in a bit, keep you company," John couldn't wipe the smile from his face as he began made his way back through the ship. He didn't really know where he was heading, just that he was so excited that he couldn't stay still. Maybe he could go talk to Jane, or maybe they could get a connection to contact Garrus; he certainly did miss talking to his friend.

Suddenly, he slammed into the wall as he felt the ship bank to the side. "What the hell?" Before he could take another step, everything around him shook and he was thrown to the floor. Red emergency lights came on as the signal blared through the speakers. God, no… An evacuation? Under attack? Shit! Tali!

Scrambling to his feet, John raced back down to the engineering deck. He dodged and pushed others around him as he fought against the flow of traffic. Everyone was heading to the escape pods, but he had to find her. "Tali! Tali, where are you?!" He hadn't seen her in the crowd, Where could she be?

"Help! Someone?"

Tali… John ran down the hall and to the storage room where she had set up taking apart the geth. The door was mostly shut, sparks firing from the panel. "Hold on, Tali!" John shouted into the room as he propped himself inbetween the crack of the door. It wasn't quite big enough to fit through, but he would make it work.

"John? Is that you?"

He heaved against the door, it moved another inch, "Yeah, Tali! Don't worry, I'm not going anywhere." Placing his foot against the door, he gave it a good kick and then another, and another and finally he was able to fit through. His eyes scanned the room and he found all of the geth pieces scattered across the room. Two full bodied synthetics were lifeless over the quarian, obviously thrown across the room when they were hit. Rushing to her side, John threw the bodies holding her captive off to the side and pulled Tali up to him. She threw her arms around him, heavy sobs coming from her. "Come on, let's get out of here." As he pulled her upright, he felt her begin to collapse as he released her.

"I – I think my leg is broken."

"I've got you," John said bringing her arm over his neck. They hobbled over to the door and John helped support her as she slid through the opening. Tali held the wall and John's arm as he followed behind her. He could still hear her taking heavy breaths, her adrenaline and fear evident, "It will be okay, we're almost there." She didn't say anything, but out of the corner of his eye, he could see her nod.

They rounded the corner, the escape pods coming into view. They saw Kaidan run around the corner with several of the Normandy crew following behind. "Everybody in! Go, go, go!" Alenko shouted and waved the crew into the shuttle. "John? Tali? Come on! There is more room!"

"Where is Jane?" John shouted the question over the noise that threatened to drown him out.

"She is getting Joker, now come on!"

"I have to help her," John said as he shifted Tali over to Kaidan.

"What!" Tali demanded as Kaidan took her and started moving her into the escape shuttle. "No! John, don't go!" She clutched the side of the ship, refusing to move into safety. "John! Please!"

John reached forward and cradled her head the best he could through her helmet, "I'm sorry. Take care of her, Kaidan."

"You got it," the lieutenant said and began to pry Tali's fingers back.

"No!" she screamed, "John! Don't do this. John!"

John ducked as an explosion rocked the ship and threw someone forward, the woman's scream echoing around them. He heard another scream; it was his name, coming from Tali. The sound was cut off as the escape pod closed its doors; his heart clenching as he faced what was certain doom. Grabbing an emergency mask from the wall, he put it over his head and charged down the hallway, determined to help Jane.

When he finally saw Jane, she was putting out a fire and he realized that he hadn't seen another living Normandy crew member. Kaidan must have evacuated the last of them. It is only Joker, Jane and myself. "Jane! Jane! I'm here to help!"

"John, god dammit! Get off this fucking ship! It is going down!"

"No! I am staying to help."

This is no time to argue, she thought. "Fine, come on." She turned and began to make her way through the ship. Fires raged around them and pipes burst, leaking fluids onto the walls and floors. Looking to her side, she saw at least four escape pods sitting empty, We lost so many people. Just before passing the last pod in the row, she paused.

John looked at her back, What the hell is she doing? "Jane, we need to – " he was cut off as she spun around and punched him in the gut, knocking the wind out of him. He doubled over sucking the air back in and he was vaguely aware of her speaking to him.

"I'm sorry, John," she placed her hands on his shoulders. "I love you, brother, and I know that you just want to protect me, but it is time for me to protect you."

He gulped in air, hoping to protest but no words would form. John reached a hand up to her just as she shoved him into the escape shuttle. "Jane…" he managed to croak.

"I'm sorry," she said and hit the manual eject button. She watched her brother reach a hand up to stop her.

John struggled to his feet and beat a fist against the metal just as the doors closed, trapping him. He felt the force of the pod ejecting but he still didn't want to accept that he had failed in keeping his little sister safe.

Turning away from the closed doors before her, she turned to the side and a fireball lit up in front of her, knocking her to the side. She could feel the heat through her suit and saw the charring on the screen of her helmet, but she had to get all of her living crew to safety, it was a leaer's duty. Throwing an arm over her face, she barreled down the hallway, moving as fast as she could through the devastation. She turned to go up the stairs, she found debris and wires hanging down, blocking her path as sparks rained down on her. Looking behind herself, she found the other set clear and she ran up.

She could hear Joker's voice coming through her comm-unit, "Come on, baby. Hold together. Hold together!"

Jane beat on the door that refused to open to the CIC. Finally, it succumbed to her demands and the door slowly opened as all the pressure escaped, sucking her forward. Her boots compensated for the lack of gravity and kept her grounded as she entered the area that was now open to the vast expanse of space. She looked around, as metal and wires floated above her, what was once part of the hull, now just an open view to the side of a blue planet. Pressing forward, she made it down the bridge, pushing aside chairs that blocked her path.

She sighed in relief as she saw the barrier that kept the cockpit pressurized and saw Joker typing away at the console. As soon as she entered the cabin she rushed forward, "Come on, Joker! We have to get out of here!"

He barely even looked at her, "No! I won't abandon the Normandy! I can still save her!"

"The Normandy's lost. Going down with the ship won't change that. You are my best friend, I won't lose you, Jeff."

He looked up at her, struggling to hide his emotions. Looking back down, he slowly nodded, "Yeah… okay. Help me up." Reaching up to take her arm, he took one last look at his controls. "They're coming around for another attack!"

Just as he made the announcement, they felt the ship shake and sparks flew out from the console. Jane took a quick look through the barrier and saw the beam of the enemy ship cutting off the rest of the Normandy from their location. Rushing back to Joker, she saw him typing away again. They didn't have time for this; she clamped her hand down on his arm.

"Ah! Watch the arm!" he complained as she draped his arm over her neck and helped to carry him to the closest pod.

She helped him in first; Joker clutched the edge of the wall as she put him into the chair as easily and quickly as she could. Just as he began to sit down another blast shook the ship and Jane turned back to see the ship break away. The explosion sent out a massive shockwave, crushing into her chest and knocking her away from the shuttle and into the wall. Black spots clouded her vision as her head swum. Out of instinct, she reached out and caught a small notch in the wall, slowing her moment and swinging herself around the corner.

Another blast from the enemy ship began to cut through, the bright yellow almost cutting off her view of Joker. He clutched the side of the pod, possibly shouting her name, but she couldn't tell. The beam was moving closer to him. Closing her eyes, she held back the tears as she punched the eject button just as another part of the ship detonated, knocking her away and out into space. As she drifted away, she watched the explosions of her beloved ship and saw the escape pod zip away from her to safety.

Just as everything began to die down, she looked around at the devastation, her breathing heavy. She watched the debris drift past her, every piece missing her by several feet, But I am alive, she sighed. Maybe, just maybe I'll… her thought was interrupted as an alarm began to beep in her suit and she felt the force of air leaving her suit behind her. Shit! Shit! Shit! She began to panic and reached behind herself hoping to find the problem. Her heart raced and she could no longer control her breathing as she knew she faced imminent death. She kicked with no restraint and arched her body hoping there was something she could do. Jane gasped, the beeping still ringing in her ears. Black began to creep in from the edges of her vision and her throat and chest burned for more oxygen. Her hands came around to her neck. She wanted to scream or cry but nothing came. My friends… my family… Garrus… so many things… I should have said… to all of them… There was no sound now. She was vaguely aware of the increased heat around her, but she didn't even have time to question why. Her body continued to spin and she sucked in one last ragged breath as she looked out over the blue and white planet, the sun just beginning to shine over the edge of the sphere.

Then everything faded to black.

Garrus couldn't help but smile at his situation. Everything was going right, he was about halfway through training (top in all rankings), his father was even beginning to accept his choice to become a Spectre, and he would be seeing Jane in a week; he had even managed to get her gift perfect. The best part about training right now was that they were beginning to run simulations with groups ranging from two to four to better judge their capabilities and leadership skills. His team had come out on top today and he had been tasked with the leadership role.

As he began to re-equip his guns, one of his evaluators entered the locker room, "Sir."

"At ease, Vakarian. You can put your guns and armor away, you are dismissed for the day."

"But, sir, I was supposed to report for the next simulation," Garrus was confused, to say the least.

"Plans have changed," the man said with a somber tone to his voice.

Garrus was baffled by the turian's tone and apologizing subharmonics. "Thank you, sir." He watched the evaluator leave and slowly began to put his equipment back in the locker. What could make them change their minds? My team and I were just praised in our last simulation, nothing went wrong, why would I be excused for the day?

Shrugging it off, he made his way back to his apartment. It was still early, maybe he could get a little work done on his own visor. He had added a lot of programs to Jane's, ones that he never thought about before but now wanted to incorporate them in his own. Once his door opened, Garrus stopped. Something was different. He wasn't alone.

Pulling out a pistol, Garrus held it steady and crept into his living room. He heard a clink of a glass and leaned out to peek in the kitchen. The figure stepped into view and Garrus brought up his weapon out of instinct. He quickly lowered his gun as he recognized who it was, "Shit! John, how did you get in?" he laughed. Putting his hand out, he shook John's but it was a weak greeting from his best friend. Something was different about the man, his face was long, his eyes sunken and watery, his entire posture slumped and defeated. "Did you guys get back early? What's going on? Where is Jane?" Garrus tried to remain excited, but even as the words came from his mouth, he could feel the sense of dread clutching at his chest.

John forced out a weak grin, "Come on, buddy. Let's sit down." John and Garrus moved into the living room and took spots on the couch. John put the glass on the table, "You might want this. Poured some of your turian brandy for you, hope you don't mind."

"I don't want it," Garrus said quietly.

"Look… Shit…" John rubbed the back of his neck and leaned forward, his head in his hands, propping his arms on his knees. He took a deep breath as he felt the tears well up in his eyes again. Turning back to his friend, he clenched his jaw to steady himself. "I wanted to be the one to tell you this, before the story came out to the news. The Normandy," he took a deep breath, "was attacked by an unknown ship. They saw right through our stealth systems and tore through our shields and hull like it was nothing. A lot of people didn't make it out…" John took another deep breath and wiped a hand down his face, "One of them was Jane." He could already see the disbelief in Garrus's face as his mandibles went slack, his jaw dropping open slightly. When Garrus didn't move or say anything, John decided to fill his friend in on what happened, "After the first hit, I found Tali and put her on a shuttle with Kaidan. Then I went up to find Jane. I found her, but she was going back to save Joker. I offered to help her," his speech became more rapid as he felt the pain creep over him again, "I tried, but she forced me into a shuttle and she ejected the pod with me in it. She found Joker, but when they tried to make it out, the enemy ship had come back around for another attack. Jane managed to get Joker into the shuttle, but an explosion knocked her away from the door." He had to stop. He lived it over and over again in his head everyday, wishing he could change the past, and now, telling his friend, the pain was almost too much. "She couldn't make it back to the shuttle and so… to save Joker, she ejected his pod, leaving herself stranded. The Normandy was sucked into the gravitational pull of a nearby planet and… she went with it…" John's voice faded out as he struggled to finish.

The two men sat in silence, both staring at one another, neither knowing what else to say.

Garrus shook his head, "No. You're lying. That can't be true." He watched John nod slowly. "No!" Garrus jumped up. "No! This isn't right! She was supposed to come back! She is Commander Shepard! She can't be dead!" He looked at John who was hanging his head, fighting to stay strong. Garrus could see that it was all true, but he couldn't accept that. "No! You were supposed to protect her! I was supposed to protect her! I should have been there! Why didn't you save her?!"

"I tried, Garrus," John whispered, "I really did try but she wouldn't let me."

"You say that you tried but you should have just done it!" Garrus hissed. Turning away from his friend, he roared his anger and pain, kicking a chair over hoping to release some of his emotions. He swiped at a vase, sending it into a wall, causing it to shatter. It still wasn't enough.

John watched his friend destroy items in the apartment. He knew that Garrus wasn't actually mad at him and probably wasn't even blaming him, but it didn't matter, John already blamed himself.

After causing a sufficient amount of damage that still didn't seem enough, Garrus collapsed onto his knees, his subharmonics singing his sorrow. "This isn't how it was supposed to be…"
