Adam had awoken hearing his alarm going off. He turned it off quickly so he could wake Kim in a more natural way. "Good morning darling. Its time to wake up." He kissed all over her face feeling her waking under him. "Morning." Kim whispered softly. "How are you this morning?" He asked as he held her tight. "Im not sure. It feels surreal. I feel like he is free. And my heart hurts less this morning. I was so caught off guard yesterday. I thought we had time left. But he was ready to go. We saw that. I wanted that for him. Its still sad though." Kim never moved from his hold. It was strong, warm, comfortable. "That makes sense. Im happy he is at peace now. He deserves it. So do you. Lets just figure out the agenda and keep moving forward." He kissed her softly. "Yeah I know. I really need to eat properly today since I work. Though its just teaching. But I need to eat so how about we have a nice breakfast together?" Kim offered as they laid together.
"Sounds good. Lets head to the kitchen." Adam helped her up out the bed following her to the kitchen. Adam started the coffee and then started to cut up some fruit. He watched her starting to cook. Seeing her mixing things together that he was surprised about. "Whatcha making?" He asked. "Im cooking down the raspberries to mix with ricotta cheese to top the french toast." Kim looked over seeing him smiling at her. "Sounds yummy." He helped her plate the breakfast sitting at the table waiting for her. The couple dug in hungry since Kim hadnt eaten much the day before. "Wow this is really good. Great way to use up some leftover ingredients." Adam was happy to see her eating but also creating new meals for them. "I hate wasting good food. So getting to use the leftover is important to me. Plus its yummy." Kim dipped her finger into the ricotta cheese mixture letting him suck her finger clean as she laughed. "You are correct." He winked as he finished eating.
They needed to shower as they both had work. "Why dont you start showering while I clean up the kitchen." Adam was happy to clean up and put away the leftovers. Kim kissed him and headed to the shower. She started to wash her hair which always took the longest. With her conditioner in her hair she was washing her body as Adam joined her. He was happy to see her taking care of herself. Yesterday had been an anomaly for her anymore. So he wasnt overly concerned. As soon as Kim stepped out Adam finished washing his body. Adam watched her brushing her hair before wringing it out again. It held a lot of water with how thick it was. He stepped out wrapping a towel around his body. Kim wrapped her hair in a ponytail then headed to get dressed. He followed her shortly after ready to get dressed for the day. "What time is your class?" Adam asked watching her dress. "10am. However I want to get there early so I can work out a bit. I also want to use the stretch lab myself a bit. My reformer here keeps me in shape but I need to keep my legs stretched out and flexible. I have Kaitlyn coming today to take video for my offical instagram page. So be prepared." Kim smirked a bit.
"I cant wait to see them. Im sure those students are in for torture today." He smiled watching her laugh. "Oh yeah. Fresh meat! I love it!" Kim was giddy for this. "Lord have mercy on those poor kids." Adam laughed as he exited their room. "Well if they want a career this is what they have to do." Kim chuckled a bit walking behind him. "I hear ya. Just be nice." He kissed her softly as they headed to the cars. "I will try. I love you! Have a great day. No getting shot!" Kim kissed him hard before pulling away. "Love you too darling. Do good, teach well." Adam winked as he jumped on the car heading out towards work. Kim followed him for a bit before going downtown to the Academy. Kims phone was buzzing and used her bluetooth to answer the messages. She was able to get the times and dates for the services. It would be a long few days but she just to figure out when she coud fly out and when Adam would be available. She didnt want to do this alone. Thankfully she had a place to stay for free during that visit.
She arrived and headed right to her studio to warm up and work out. It was a great distraction that she needed from the spinning in her head. Adam arrived at work just around the same time. He headed in hoping the day would go much more smoothly. He of course saw Platt first. "Ruzek! How is she today?" Platt asked as soon as she saw him. "Um shes okay. Thankful his suffering is over. But still brokenhearted. She neglected herself all day yesterday but was happy to eat today and is working out before teaching at 10." Adam explained. "She looked distraught yesterday. So that all makes sense. Just let her know we are thinking about her." Adam nodded as he headed up the stairs. He entered the bullpen seeing he was the last to arrive. "Hows Kim this morning?" Erin asked having thought about it all night. "Shes okay. Yesterday she was a wreck. Didnt speak much until much later in the evening." He put his things down before he continued.
"She talked about some of the fun times. And how particular he was about things. She was laughing a bit during those times. Not sure it helped but she was shining a bit brighter this morning. I think shes going to be okay. She just a little overwhelmed. Which I think is pretty normal." He saw them all nodding along. "That is pretty normal. She just saw him and then he passed away. Thats a lot to wrap her head around." Antonio knew how Kim felt. He had been there. "She was funny when she talked about him. They were background stories somewhat. But she laughed as she talked about how Jim used to get mail and emails about erection meds. And how gross that was. She shuddered when she told me that he asked her what a cock ring was. I would have been sick then too. He had girls with benefits but he never wanted a girlfriend. He still loved his wife. One women, who is ugly by the way, started to get too clingy. Giving death glares to all the other woman in Jims life, friends or other. When this women stated she practically lived with Jim Kim flipped her shit and got involved to discard the women. I can only imagine how nuts Kim went." He laughed picturing it.
"I would loved to be a fly on the wall for that conversation." Kevin laughed. "Oh yeah epic rants for sure. But she was trying to protect Jim and all their friends from this woman. I dont blame her at all. Shes a great friend." Adam smiled thinking about Kim. She was a beast in protecting those she loved. "We got a case lets head out!" Voight announced walking out of his office. They all headed towards rollout grabbing their vests as they headed out. Adam was quiet as they headed to the scene but he was okay. He just needed a bit of quiet time. Kim was downtown in her studio practicing her footwork. She calm, peaceful and relaxed. She was probably 20 minutes in when her phone started to play music. She was confused, walking towards her phone. She pulled out her phone seeing none of her apps were open and her phone was still locked. It stopped moments later. Kim thought nothing if it returning to her practice. Minutes later it happened again.
Kim was very confused about what was going on. Her phone had never done that before. It wasnt much longer till the lights started to flicker. Kim smirked a bit. "Jim! I love that you are visiting me but you have to stop messing with my lights. Its freaking me out. And if you dont like the music on my phone change the station." Kim shook her head as it all stopped. She smiled bright loving the visit from her dear friend. She got back to work right away smiling wide. She was very much at peace in the moment. Her alarm let her know she needed to head to class. She quickly headed to the stretch lab seeing most of the students were already there. "Good afternoon. Welcome to stretch lab! Hope you are all ready to work." Kim looked around seeing overly confident students. "Oh you are all going to hurt when this is over." Kim laughed seeing Kaitlyn showing up to create videos. "Lets get to work! Everyone take a station." Kim clapped getting everyone in position. This was one of her favorite classes to be a part of.
Kim watched as each student started the first stretch. "Oh wow yall have some short extensions going on. You really need to stretch it further." Kim called out watching them all looking uncomfortable and in pain. "Did we stretch first? What is going on in here?" Kim looked over each persons form. "Our normal instructor thinks this is good." The one student looked towards Kim. "Im sorry but its not. Let me show you." Kim took position showing just how far the extension should go. She heard gasping from around the room. "This what full extension looks like. Lets get back to work." Kim brought her leg back down to continue class. Kim moved to each student helping them to extend further. "Kim lets do a video." Kaitlyn asked with Kims phone up. "Absolutely!" Kim was excited. Kaitlyn got Kims page loaded and started to create the video. "Good morning my lovely followers. Welcome to stretch lab! Hope you enjoy!" Kim moved out of the frame as Kaitlyn filmed around the room. Kim had been smiling wide during the video.
Adam was working the scene when his phone buzzed. He looked to see a live video on Kims page. He watched it loving her wide smile but grimmaced as he saw the workout Kim was putting her students through. "Kim killing her students?" Kevin asked. Adam just handed over the phone letting him watch. "Holy crap! That looks intense. But shes loving it. She looks thrilled." Kevin laughed handing back the phone. "She loves it. She calls it Pilates on steriods." Adam laughed but thrilled she was happy and glowing again. "I wonder how we could handle that class." Kevin wondered. "Well she is willing to offer classes if you want to try." Adam offered knowing it hurt like hell the first few days she really worked him. "I'd try it." Kevin shrugged as they continued working. The team arriving back at the district an hour later. Adam watched the other videos Kim had posted as he walked in. He smiled seeing her in her element. Though the students looked in pain and sore but Kim was happy.
"More videos of Kim torturing the students?" Kevin asked seeing Adam lookimg amused. "Yup!" Adam laughed handing over his phone again. "Lord how the hell?" Kevin was sick watching it. "Thats not even as far as Kim can extend. Its pretty impressive." Adam took the phone sitting as his desk working on the case. The couple worked through the day agreeing to meet up at Mollys after Adams shift. Kim had stayed busy running errands in town till Adam was finished shift. They were excited to meet up. Kim arrived to find him already there. She headed in dressed down in workout gear but she looked appropriate and comfortable. "Hey darling!" Adam jumped up to hug her. "Hey! How was your day?" Kim asked as they hugged. "It was good. Looked like you killed it today." He saw her laughing. "Well its fun. And I found out the instructor doesnt push them. So I had to get the director involved trying to fix this so the class gets run better. So that was a bit nuts." Kim shrugged taking a sip on her drink.
"Thats crap. The students pay good money to be taught properly. Hopefully they can fix that fast. What else did you do today?" Adam asked rubbing her back. "Well I found out about the arrangements for Jim. Talked to a bunch of people about the viewing and the funeral. It was exhausting. Then had a dress fitting to make sure its getting made right. I did some shopping I needed to do including a new pair of heels. It was busy but good all things considered." Kim shrugged a bit leaning into his embrace. "Can I see these new shoes?" He asked knowing she lived shoe shopping. "Of course! Its kind of cliche that I bought them but they felt like a good homage to wear during the wedding." Kim pulled up the shoes showing him the new Christian Louboutin pointe heels. "It's definitely cliche but I love them. Its very you." He kissed her head. "Just means we need to enaure a wooden walkway during the ceremony. No way Im getting grass stains on these shoes." She gave him a very knowing look. He just laughed hugging her.
"What are the arrangements?" He asked hoping she didnt break. "Well the viewings are Monday. One is from 2-4 and the other is 6-8. We have planned our core group to go to Jims favorite restaurant during the break to eat and drink. So no matter what viewimg they go to we get to see each other. Then Tuesday the services start at 10am at St Matthews then the burial is in East Hanover NJ after that. Then followed by a reception. Should he able to fly home any time after 4pm from Newark. Justin is leaving the reception straight to Newark to fly out as well so we can all car pool. Its been insane planning this all. But Justin agreed wecan stay at his place in the princess suite as he calls it. So that's helpful." Kim knew it was a lot. "When do we fly out?" He asked. "Dont know yet. Im thinking maybe Saturday afternoon. Do breakfast with friends sunday morning? Then relax some before the services. Or go to the casino. Jim loved the casinos." Kim suggested unsure what Adam planned on.
"Works for me. Whatever you want to do is fine with me. Just want you to relax and be able to mourn and heal. So we have fun and grieve and then move forward together." Adam kissed her sweetly holding her tight. "So Kevin is interested in doing a stretch lab with you." Adam smirked looking towards Kevin. "Well I would be more than happy to start you with beginners Pilates before we start that but Im game." Kim laughed slightly cruelly. "Oh man I would pay to see that." Erin laughed. She could only imagine how rough it would be for Kevin. "I think it would be good for all of us to try it. It's obviously working for them making them stronger and leaner. So Im down to try something new." Kevin shrugged it off. "We will get that set up soon for certain. I agree its a good idea and not just because I love teaching freah meat." Kim laughed a bit.
"How about we make plans to hit the club on friday night so we can recover Saturday before we fly out again?" Adam offered as they had plans to hit a gay club with the team to honor Jims passing. "Works for me. Hopefully yall dont get a case." Kim knew it was always possible. "Dont jinx it!" Jay laughed a bit. "Im sorry! I didnt mean it." Kim laughed not realizing that was a thing. "Its all good. It's normally when we are actually at work. Just relax!" They all laughed. The night continued as the group tried to relax before work the next day. It had been a nice distraction for Kim who was thinking, over thinking, the funeral. She wondered who she would see and who she wouldnt. There were actually a few people she would rather not see but it was all about Jim. She could deal with it for Jim. And Adam would be there to protect her. "Ready to head home?" Kim asked seeing it was close to 10. "Oh man. Yeah we should go. I have work in the morning." They paid the bill and headed home. They were happy to get home tired from a long day. When they arrived Adam helped Kim out of the car, carrying her bags for her.
"Thank you for being so sweet today. I really have appreciated the kindness." Kim hugged him tight. "You never have to thank me for that. Im happy to be here to help you. And thrilled to see you smiling again." Adam kissed her head sweetly. "I still appreciate it. Appreciate that you arent forcing me to move on and be okay again." Kim rested her head on his shoulder. "I cant imagine you bouncing back that quickly. That would be insane. So just take your time." He scooped her up taking her to their bedroom. "Just relax and get some sleep. You deserve it. Tomorrow is another day. Come on." Adam helped strip her of her clothes helping her into bed. "Thank you my love." Kim curled into the bed watching Adam strip down. She loved his body. It was seriously like a Greek god sculpture. Insane. He curled up next to her letting her fall asleep with her head on his chest. "Good night darling. Sleep well. I love you." He felt her kiss his chest right as she fell asleep.
It was Friday, club night. The couple had spent the day working before going to the penthouse to eat take out and get dressed for a night out at the gay club. "Ready to head out?" Adam asked watching Kim posing in front of the mirror. "Yeah Im ready. I cant wait to let loose a bit." Kim smiled turning around to look at him better. "You look amazing. Too bad we cant stay here all night." He winked at her. "Well maybe later depending on how drunk we get." Kim laughed heading out of their room. "So very true. Hence the car service for the night." They both knew it could really ugly later so having a car service was key. "Alright the car is here so lets head out." Adam locked the door as they left and headed to the elevator. "This is going to be a fun night." Kim smiled getting into the car. "It is! Im excited to see you on the dance floor again. Especially in a gay club." Adam winked pulling her closer. "Im excited too. We dont get to let loose lile this often. And I highly doubt they will care we are even there. So little chance of the paps showing up." Kim shrugged a bit.
"Sounds about right. So lets enjoy the night and the fun." He winked kissing her head. Kim settled into his embrace as they road to the club where they were meeting the team. Or at least part of it. When they arrived the couple got out finding their friends waiting for them. "Hey guys!" Kim hugged each of them for coming out. "Hey. How are you holding up?" Erin asked. "Um okay. It still hard but I know its for the best. I just need to see this through so I can grieve and then start to move forward again. Its just crazy how it happened. But he was ready to go. He told us that. So maybe Im happy that he got what he wanted. He has his dignity back. That would be important to him." Kim knew he would have hated knowing what became of him. It was not what he wanted at all. "Im certain no one wants to end up like that. Its so demeaning to have to live like that." Erin hugged Kim again as they entered the club.
"Okay lets get some drinks and hit thr dance floor." Adam led her over to the busy bar. "Grab that waitress and see if we can get a VIP section with bar service." Kim asked Adam. He moved with a quick nod. The group hung out waiting to see what happened. "Okay we got a VIP booth free since we are getting bar service." Adam smiled as the waitress led them to the VIP area. It was nice having a table to relax at when they got tired. It was also close to the dance floor. "This is great!" Kevin was excited for the extra services. "Oh yeah. I dont do this often at all but in a night like tonight it's necessary." Kim laughed getting her first drink. "Okay so first drink is Jims favorite even if Kim hates cranberry juice. I think we got the measurements right." Adam watched her try it. "Its close. Needs a bit more water. But its close." Kim took another sip.
"Okay so thank you all for coming out to celebrate my friend Jim. He lived a long, beautiful life. A man I will never forget no matter how long I live. My friend, my family, my grandfather. God damnit Jim I miss you so damn much. But Im so happy you at peace. I love you Jim. Rest easy now. See you again some day." Kim raised her glass tears in her eyes as the clinked glasses and then took a sip. "You know he is still watching you. Especially in the shower." Adam laughed knowing all the stories Kim told him about Jim being a perv. "He missed bathing suit season this year. Im sure that was a real bummer for him." They all laughed at that. "He was one of a kind. So lets finish these and then get this ass on the dance floor." Adam kissed her softly. "Sounds awesome!" Kim took a few more sips before heading out to dance with Erin, Kevin and Mouse right behind her. Adam sat back nursing his drink as he watched Kim on the dance floor. He loved watching her dance. He could see the weight lifting, the smile getting larger, the light turnimg back on.
Adam joined them once his drink was finished. He needed the liquid courage to dance or attempt to dance. Though in this club no one seemed to care whether they were good or not. They were all just letting loose. He even noticed a few very gay men coming to dance with Kim. It never bothered him. He just enjoyed watching her in her element. So he danced with Erin laughing as they got snide looks from Jay. It was hilarious. Erin eventually dragged Jay to the dance floor to joined them. Though it seemed Kim as lost in a sea of dancer Adam never lost sight on her. So when she wandered back to the seating area he followed her. He could tell she needed a break. She was sipping water till she was joined by the rest. "Excuse me miss. Could you make this specific drink fir us all. Its basically a double shot in each." Kim asked hoping it wouldnt be an issue. "Absolutely! You are paying so you get whatever you want." The waitress left to grab the extra items. When she returned she made the drink for every one in their party.
"Swiftkicks all around, to Jim!" Kim held it up slamming most of it back. The other followed. "God no wonder you get fucked up on these!" Jay laughed feeling it already. "Its the caffeine and the booze at once. After a few you're fucked." Kim laughed finishing her drink looking for another. "Lets not get too carried away just yet." Adam handed her more water to evenit out some. "You are no fun." Kim took the water sticking her tongue out at him. "Oh you know Im fun but we dont your favorite donuts here to fix the drunken stooper." Adam just watched her think it over. "Fine!" She whined as she crashed dramatically on the couch. Adam just laughed pulling her onto his lap. "No pouting baby girl! Just want you to space it out before you get wasted. That way we can enjoy this longer." He kissed her sweetly happy she was smiling again. "You ready to dance again?" Kevin asked wanting to go again. "Hell ya! The music has been great so we need to do this." Kim moved off Adam heading out to dance again. Adam took videos and photos of Kim enjoying herself.
He wasnt sure if he should but he posted a photo of her on his instagram page. He didnt tag her but he posted it for his friends to see. "Kim is really enjoying herself. You must be relieved." Jay asked as he watched her. "Yeah Im thrilled. I know we still have tough days ahead but right now shes good. Knowing the suffering is over helps her the most I think. Not having to worry about getting that call everyday was wearing on her. Knowing he wanted to die and wasnt getting the best care from his family was killing Kim. So I really think this is for the best." Adam was watching her dancing away and having a blast. "Sounds about right. And after the funeral she can go to the lake house to grieve and heal. Its kind of perfect." Jay replied as they relaxed. "Agree completely. We both talked about that already. Its going to be a rollercoaster but she needs this to move on. She needs to see this through to the finality. I think that will give her closure for real. Not just the words." Adam mused unsure how it would go.
"I hear ya. Seeing the person dead gets the point across better than hearing the words. With words you can still act like it didn't happen. But we all agree this is better for Jim, but also for Kim." Jay understood having lost his mother to cancer. It easy to pretend she was going to be okay till it wasnt. Till death made it all but real. Very true! Come on lets join them. She cant be the only one having fun out there." Adam pulled Jay out to the dance floor where Kim was surrounded by tons of people dancing together. He could see the joy dancing brought her now. He rarely saw that emotion when she was on stage in character. The song changed as he got closer. He didnt know it but Kim was screaming with excitement. As he danced with her he listened to the words, dancing through all the tough times. He would need to find this song since it seemed very fitting for Kim and her life. Dance seemed to be the best coping mechanism for her. Where all the drama faded away from her mind. Skateboarding had been that for him growing up so he got it completely
A few songs later they headed back for drinks. Half the team wasted already, the other half close. But it didnt stop them from drinking and enjoying the night. The group made it till just about 2am when Kim paid the bill to leave. Ubers lined up to drive people home. "Thanks for celebrating with me!" Kim laughed as she hugged each person good bye. She was unsteady but holding her own for now. As the couple settled into the car Kim was still dancing away in her seat. Adam was taking videos to remember the night. They were barely through the door when Adam handed her some water and Advil. She would be sick later without it. And no one wanted to see their loved one sick. "Thanks I think I need to eat a bit before bed." Kim laughec looking in the fridge for something to eat. She knew carbs was the best thing. Luckily they had a pasta salad in the fridge so Kim started to eat it right from the bowl. Adam followed suit eating some before passing out on the couch. It had been a crazy fun night. Though Kim wasnt sleeping on the couch. She headed to bed alone to sleep hoping not to be hung over in the morning. The next few days would be rough so this had truly been a blessing.
