One Simple World
Chapter 14: Simply Murderous
Chara's Point of View:
She finally quieted down... finally...
The quiet was eerie as I spent days recovering from what happened. That fight with Undyne was more... explosive then I was anticipating. In my eagerness of getting my reward, finally getting a soul while Frisk had limited control and was unable to stop me, Undyne pulled a fast one on us to explode her soul. Preventing me from even getting a share.
It fucking ruined me... Our body was nearly dead. The explosion went off in our faces, burning our flesh and making the wounds already on myself worse. Somehow we managed to survive due to Frisk's magic kicking in and protecting our vital organs, but it was a couple days of healing magic before I could even stand. The healing magic was slow... and she was the one who had access to it. Something I had to dig out and didn't have much control over.
But I was gaining access to her magic along with my own... that meant I could use her chains before long. I was eager for that.
If I could use her magic... I had a better chance to kill and capture a monster for their soul... and they couldn't fight me.
But Frisk was the biggest pain in my side for the days I spent healing. Nothing left of Undyne remained behind, and she wept for her dear friend. It was honestlyrather annoying as she cried in the back of mind. Something I would have snapped at her about.
But I didn't. I knew in the long run just letting her grieve would keep her quiet. She wanted nothing to do with me then, not talking, thinking or anything.
And it was the best thing ever.
I finally recovered enough to see that I was without too many scars. I had some burns on my skin still on the face, mostly around my nose and eye, but it was nothing. But there were some things that didn't heal. Some fingers didn't come back. I was down to four on one hand, and the other only had three. They were lost in the explosion.
It made things harder to grip like my knives, but I had no choice but to make that work.
Once enough time had passed for us to heal and move away from the sight of our battle, I moved into the homes of people to raid for food. I had enough then to travel with since I ate all we had on hand. Power was off to the area as well. It was incredibly hard to find good food that was still well enough to eat without cooking it or seeing it gone bad.
They knew I'd be there shortly... I wondered if it was cut off to Hotland too? It honestly was going to be a problem if I struggled to find food.
I hardly paid much more attention as I passed through the plaza and headed toward the path to Hotland. Nothing really stood much in our way. Everything was normal while glow crystals and echo flowers lit my way. Before I knew it, the hot glow of Hotland came into view where everything changed from blue to red in coloring and I had to strip a few more layers.
It was unbearable as I walked through the deserted streets, something I wasn't expecting to happen. Frisk remainedsilent as we moved.
It was actually starting to get a bit annoying without having her yelling or screaming in my ear.
"Come now Frisk, are you really going to ignore me the entire time?"
Silence was the only thing that greeted me.
"Pouting won't bring back your friend. I told you we'd beat her. Granted... it was rathercloser than I would have wanted. I also was not expecting her to blow up her soul in the end there."
She still didn't respond... I thought she would have after that last comment to tick her off.
"Francine, this isn't funny. Respond to me."
Yet, there was still nothing but absolute silence in my mind. Annoyed at that, I found a place to stop and sit for a few moments to let our body rest and slipped out of consciousness. Sinking deep down into myself, I couldn't see Frisk at all. It wasn't like our mind was that big. I wondered where she was?
I had to spend some moments searchingevery coroner of our mind together before I noticed she was hidden in a rather deep corner of our mind, a place I hardly would have everlooked.
Well now, so this is where you're hidden. Are you planning on hiding from me forever? That's rather hard when we're attachedso closely.
But Frisk didn't say a word. She kept her head buried into her knees, looking away from me and hiding her face.
What in the world is your goal? Clearly not much as you sit here pouting. It was quite sad that Undyne had to go and explode her soul... she would have been so helpful in my quest.
Frisk still never said a word. She was unfortunatelyrather good at hiding her thoughtsfrom me at that time. Something that irritated me quite well. I could control stopping her movements, but her mind was something that I couldn't control. Whatever she had planned, who would possibly help her. I tried to look back through her memories to see who would be coming to her aid, but I couldn't think of anyone.
It especially irritated me since she was rather vocal about her thoughts. It was always easy to know what she was thinking, or work around it. Now she was being careful. Using her past life knowledge against me. That was going to be the thing that hurt me, especially since she'd lived another full life compared to myself.
This is rather boring, come now, don't tell me your determinationis burnt out?
But I knew that wasn'ttrue. She was fighting me right there as it was.
The girl showed me nothing but a hollow smile, turning away from me while a flash of something appeared in our minds. Her thoughts moved, and an image appeared in my mind. I could barely see it before it was gone. I noticed it was a woman with black hair, but that was about all I noticed before the image faded from our combined mind.
You actually think someone is coming for you? No one is going to be able to save you.
That's where you're wrong, Chara. She didn't look back at me while she remained in the corner of our mind.
And how am I wrong?
She refused to let her mind answerme. She remained quiet, making sure her mind didn't let a thought pass that I could see. That irritated me... I was very frustrated by it. Narrowing my eyes at her, I kneeled beside her. My hand raced to her hair before I could think, dragging her upwards.
Try again, Francine. Tell me, how am I wrong?
She hissed in pain and anger before she shot a leg out to kick me. When I saw her reach forward for me, going for my eyes, I darted backward out of her grip releasing her in the process.
I never said this person was going to save me.
That... I honestly wasn't expecting. And it was clearly written all over Frisk's face how smug she was about me not knowing who this person was, or their objective.
And that was when I felt it, our body being electrocuted and bringing me rapidly back to the surface while Frisk sunk deeper into herself. I snapped awake then among the pools of lava in Hotland to see a metallic woman standing there with her armsrotated backward to allow for what seemed like a taser to hit me. She had black hair that framed around her face while her body was silver and pink.
It was the woman that Frisk was betting on not only finding us, but fighting me. Perhaps even killing me. But the words that Frisk used... I never said this person was going to save me... Who was she?
"Well hello there darling!" The woman marched forwardtoward us, and I summoned my knives as quickly as I could. Granted, my muscles were struggling as I'd been just electrocuted. I struggled to do much of anything while left to her glee without the ability to fight. "I was hoping I'd run into you again, Frisk... Looks like I have another chance to fix what went wrong in our last life. And I won't fail twice. So I'll be the hero that took down your murdering ass."
And then realization hit me... this woman... was Mettaton. She worked directly with Silke in the previous lifetime. Even she came back? While it did make sense since she was a monster, they normally needed to have interaction with Frisk herself, or perhaps Angel, or maybe someone already who knew of the past life?
But that left far too many possibilitiesto how she remembered. Which meant that she was murdering me for the fun of it. She had many ulterior motives, and none of which I could psychologically mess with... But that didn't mean I wouldn't try.
"Well aren't you barking up the wrong tree."
"Oh piss off darling, I don't care if you are or are not Frisk. I know she's trapped in that body with you." With a click of her tongue, Mettaton's movement became more stalker-like as her heels slowly hit the ground, gracefully making her way closer. "Last time I saw her... Luke was supposed to take her out while I got that stupid son of mine and Angel's eldest son. Clearly that didn't happen as I'm sure you know, so payback is going to be a bitch!"
Mettaton darted forward then, her sharp heel swung upwards, something I almost wasn't able to dodge. She had some rather insane speed on her. I could barely keep up with her trying to avoid her dance-like movements. Her hands hung right on her hips as she used those longer legs of hers to close the distance so easily. My body still wasn't responding even as she flew a foot forward to kick me. It landed across my jaw and threw me a few feet away from her.
I grunted in pain while the woman laughed with so much glee in her voice. So much energy there as she approached once more. I'm sure she was enjoying the pattern of kicking me while I was down. I just had to hold out as she slammed her foot that time down on my leg. I struggled to hold back the scream, but I was starting to be able to move. My muscles were responding again, I just needed to-
"Nuh uh darling." A hand slammed down on my chest and electricity shot through me again. "I'm not letting you have a moment of rest! This is my show, Chara. Mine. And you're going to die at my hands!"
Once more I was kicked into a wall, blood was already pouring out of me from multiple wounds I'd gathered from the little bit of time trying to face this woman. I blinked just as the woman's body began to shift and she became more flashy with a bulkier black armor with spikes that covered her entirely from head to toe. She grinned as she looked down at me, lifting me into the air. The blood on my face rolled down and landed on her face.
"I'll be the hero this time, I'll be the one in the spotlight. Everyone will adore me! ME! Not you, not those sisters, after all..." Mettaton grinned before she pulled back her arm and hurled us at the nearby wall. "My original programming was to kill humans anyway!"
I felt my bones beginning to give. Upon the impact into the wall from where I was hurled, I could feel them cracking. The force was too much, and I wasn't able to recover. I couldn't get my muscles to respond. She kept shocking me-
Once again I was hit as if being tasered. Mettaton could only laugh, so happy with her work. I could barely see her looking at me with her eyes near glowing in their pleasure.
"I won't make the same mistakes this time, darling. I'll make sure you neverhave a chance to move. You'll be charredsplat before I'm done with you!"
Fuck...I couldn't do anything but retreat into my mind while our body was assaulted to look back at the other spirit attached to this body. Friskwas still curled up in her corner, but her eyes looked to see what was going on outside. I could see she was damaged as well. We both felt the pain of what was happening, but her face looked so peaceful as it was happening. And that's when my temper began to flare. What's wrong with you?! Are you actually enjoying this?
You forget Chara, I was willing to let Undyne kill me to prevent you from hurting others.Frisk looked back at me with an unimpressed look. She leaned back against the red walls inside ourselves and looked at me with a look I'd never seen on her face before. One filled with determination... I hated it.I want you to die, and if that means I go out with you, then so be it. I may remember everything, but that only boosts my skills so much. I'm still a kid, not the queen I used to be. I'm not strong enough for you to utilize all the skills and powers I acquired in my other life, plus... if I'd been that strong... maybe you wouldn't have been able to link souls with me. I never would have if I knew you weren'tmy sister...
So please... do us all a favor and die. I wish it didn't have to be this way, but you won't listen to me. So I'll do whatever I have to do, even if I have to give my life to stop you.
How fucking dare you! I won't be dying until I achieve what it is I need! I snarled at the girl before turning away from her. Fine! Stay here and watch this happen. But don't get in my way...
Or what? You'll kill me? Go ahead.
I don't have time for this!
No, no you don't. Have fun, Chara.
I wasn't expecting me then to be blasted away from the deepest realm of our mind. Frisk had enough strength to throw me back into the battle with Mettaton and away from her own spirit. I cursed my luck as my body still convulsed and Mettatons stood over me, looming down with a wide maniacalsmile. Kneeling before me, her face became level with mine.
"Nice to see you join me again, darling... did you have a nice chat with her highness? Is she going to help you? Is she going to help you? Oh dear... it hardly looks like it as you seem just as pathetic as before!"
Mettaton laughed gleefully while she watched me convulse on the ground.
I felt such rage there as I tried to gain control of my body. The woman just continued to laugh above me, so pleased with herself. Like she had everything all figured out.
My arm shook so badly as I laid out and she came in close. Her face almost nose to nose with mine.
"You'll never achieveanything,you worthless human."
And that was the metaphorical snap went off in the back of my mind. I didn't even care if I got that bitch's soul anymore... she was dying for the sake of me fucking feeling like it...
My wild arm managed to grab a knife and haphazardly hurled upward, cutting the base of her metallic neck. Her laughing began to change as her tone and electric tone became mangledand she eventually couldn't even scream as I used her armor and movementto crawl on top of her. Stabbing into her chest plate, while the first hit didn't go through due to the armor, but the second hit got in between the plates. My anger fueled my swings, taking advantage of the fact she decided to get too close for her own fucking good.
Her silent screams I would have blurredout anyway as my vision went red and I just kept swinging. Down, down went the knife into any broken part of her that I could destroy. She fell to the ground and I landed on top of her. Her arms went limp as I disconnected wires, oil and power fuel poured out from her body. Her body began to convulse while I kept swinging, the fluids staining my skin and clothes, turning black and smelling horrid. My wounds stung, but I paid no heed as I slammed my fists into her body.
And then... it all went still... The robot couldn't move and died, entirely shutting down before me. I stared at it, for a few long seconds, my hands still shaking from the electrocution and the fury.
"You're not fooling me, you stupid ghost."
My knife jabbed underneath the chest plate and threw it upwards, smashing it so it couldn't close. Inside was a little pink ghost monster, covered in oil and shaking like a leaf. She didn't even try to move once I sat above her on the body she deemed incredible and invisible.
And it should have been so easy, that little soul was right there, glowing right through her body in its fear. I could have snatched it away and all of this would be over. I could leave, I could kill the remaining people in my family, I could get rid of Frisk. Truly die...
It could have been all over.
But there was no way I was merging myself with that fucker.
The knife, glowing red under all the fluid on me came down on the ghost and she hardly put up a fight. Her body faded away, the soul shattered as my knife had gone through it.
I didn't even care.
I swear... that woman never did learn from her mistakes...In the back of our mind, that was the only words of comfort, or lack there of, that Frisk gave me when the fight was over.
I didn't even try to fight. I was so worn, tired, and as my rage finally ended, I collapsed. Partially falling into the chest plate of the robot, I laid there, too worn to think, to breath, to feel...
I was just too numb from it all...
Did... did I want this to end?
Witch's Note:
Well then… some of you had rightfully guessed that Mettaton was next to come up and for a while, she really had Chara on the ropes with Frisk helping/not helping. This is also the first person Chara killed without trying to get their soul… how strange…
But so is her final comment. Does she want this to end? Questioning doubt about her intentions and what she's doing? Is there a consciousness growing? Or is she just sick of all she's had to go through-
(I'm cut off as Mystic Girl bursts into the room and tries to wrangle my computer with me.)
Mystic Girl: Team! Gather the bitch! Halloween noted she's permanently written off in this form! She's ours forever! Mystic Boy! Chaos! Hop to it! I need you two stat for this bitch!
(I watch as she takes off then and I sigh before turning back to the computer.)
Me: Welp, you heard her folks. Get to work. (Shaking my head, I laugh) But this was a last time for us to see Mettaton in this form. If we see her again… I doubt Alphys will make the same mistake three times in giving her a body.
But anyway, let's move onto reviews!
Thechaosmaster: Its good to see you got lots of goodies for Christmas and have been having a good time! I hope this fight was what you were looking for or even remotely close to it as we get closer to the end. Only six chapters left in this small little story.
And Angel does have quite the amount of souls attached to her. Two human souls and four monster souls… its quite crowded up there in her soul and body… its double what she had before. But that also means a lot of souls for her to call upon as we get closer to the end…
MysticBoywastaken: Oh yes… I'm glad you're loving the story… and lots of things happening to say 'oh dear' about… XD
Shadow8Phantom: Spot on as normal Shadow. Mettaton was the next on the list, something Frisk was trying to plan for as the woman despised her very being. Frisk was counting on Mettaton to do some incredible damage, and she did, even having Chara have that strange thought in the end.
I will admit that many things won't be explained in this book that will have to wait for our final book to be explained, though a slight planned oversight on my part… Alphys is mentioned, but not written in book three. She will come back as we enter into book four, our final book. I admit, its not one of my finer set ups. She has a lot to add to the picture, but she's also not a front line fighter. She'd be behind the scenes. And with this book so fast paced as it was, she would most likely be assisting the refugees in keeping them away from Chara until she was dealt with.
But what I can answer at least a little bit for you about Flowey/Asriel, its simple as to why they didn't meet. He wasn't there when she fell. Both sisters fell in different spots compared to the normal drop sight from the original story, or game if you will. Angel was hurled from the ruins into the Snowdin Mountain Range, and Frisk fell where Chara's grave had been hidden deep into the ruins. Both places far away in the maze of what once was a city and a cave structure. Even Flowey/Asriel would have had to take time to find them once he noticed a disturbance. And with Chara leading the way to make things fast and quick, its highly possible he only got there as Toriel was being killed and saw the mutational growth as Chara began to take over Frisk.
But now we jump over to the other side of the coin. Another Angel chapter be coming next! But what shall happen? Who will go next? If we were to follow game logic, it would be Muffet, but she was never a so called boss in my game. She was a jury member. So what truly would happen next. I'm curious to see if any of you guess it.
So I will bid you all adieu as we enter the next year hopefully toward the end of this horror. Six chapters are left, and that's all the time we have to save Frisk…
Oh dear.
Love you all and see you next week!
