Hello everyone and welcome to Chapter Four of Tsuna: Legend of Primordial! With the story more than a third of the way done, I am happy to see how we're making great progress.
Chapter Four
Four years have passed since Tsuna's encounter with the pit spider as she was now ten years old. In the years that have gone by, she had gone through so much change.
For starters, her black hair has grown longer as it sat comfortably above her shoulders rather than being a ball of tangled fur that never went past her ears when she was six. At the same time her stature showed great change as grew several inches but was still under five feet tall. Her muscles have also shown promising development as she showed great strength.
But despite her growth, she was stilled considered the runt of the Üngana. Her brother Maku had grown up to be a very big brother as his body mass was right at five feet tall. Even some of her friends showed promising statures, the three apes that picked on her several years ago were just as big as Maku.
Despite her small body, Tsuna was pushing her body to its limits as she wanted to be a strong ape just like her family. Everyday was a different adventure for the young girl as with every adventure she had was a different learning experience. From time to time, she had nightmares of her pit spider encounter as it reminded her to be mindful of any pit traps that may be lurking.
However on this day, the apes were traveling from one nesting ground to another. After a night raid from several predators, the Üngana decided that their home was no longer safe.
Tsuna remembered the screams that had occurred as she sought refuge high above the trees with all the other young apes while the adult males fended off the beasts that attacked them. As she hid in her tree she knew that one day she would be strong enough to protect this tribe. For now, all she needed to do was to run and hide.
Traveling from one nesting ground to another was just another day in the life of the Üngana. With so many dangers lurking in these jungles, it's possible for some creatures to bypass the large curving trees protecting these apes.
From time to time these gorillas whenever their home was attacked, the apes would either move to an existing nesting ground, or establish a new one. If they were ever attacked they would return to their previous grounds knowing that it was no safe.
As Tsuna walked on all fours, she walked beside her father and saw how his arm was covered in bites and scratches. Clearly they were given to him from the chaotic night that unfolded. Hopefully she would be as strong as Taruk.
While Tsuna walked alongside the apes, she turned her head to the right and noticed a bush carrying small pink flowers. It was far off into the distance, but she wanted to pick one of these flowers and keep it all to herself. She started to stray away from her tribe before she felt a large hand hold her belly and pull her away.
No! Her mother firmly grunted while Tsuna stared at her with confusion. Stay away.
The small girl watched her ape mother continue her journey as she helped some of the small infants travel. But as she watched her mother walk away, a look of confusion fell upon Tsuna's face. They were just flowers, why was she not allowed to go near them?
It didn't take long for Tsuna to ignore Üma's warning as she waited for most of the gorillas to walk past her, allowing herself to quietly sneak away. However, she did not notice that Maku was keeping an eye on her.
Being the ever so overprotective brother, Maku took his role seriously. Knowing that Tsuna was more fragile than most apes, he wanted to make sure she was always safe. Also, given how Tsuna was just as mischievous as him, Maku knew he needed to follow his sister.
While Tsuna made her way to the bush of beautiful flowers, she stepped over several small rocks, twigs, and roots. However she did not notice how one green root began to move after her foot stepped off the lush vegetation. The young girl had no idea that some of the plants were more alive than others.
As she approached the bush, her eyes could not believe what they were seeing as she saw some of the buds of the bush begin to subtly move. Before she knew it, the buds soon began to bloom and a plethora of pink flowers blossomed in front of Tsuna. To make things even more magical, the flowers released pink pollen in the air engulfing her in a pink cloud.
Tsuna couldn't put her finger on it but as the pollen settled, she felt immense joy, as she couldn't help but giggle. She soon began to dance around, stepping on several vines and roots on the ground. The bush in front of her began to reveal more flowers as they soon released more pollen in the air.
The human girl breathed in the pollen for it carried a sweet scent that brought a smile to her face. As she danced on all fours, she made several panting noises before releasing a couple of coo sounds while staring at the trees above her. Her joy soon caused her to trip over a vine and the child fell on the floor and giggled.
Tsuna could not understand what was happening, but her joy and excitement for these flowers caused her to exert most of her energy. As she lied on the earthy soil, a nap seemed like the best idea. Soon enough her eyelids closed under her new pink irises, and the little Ungana was sound asleep.
While the ape girl was sound asleep, she did not notice the vines and roots were moving around her. Soon enough her body was being wrapped up by several vines while she was having pleasant dreams. Little did she know that the source of this vegetation, was the bush of plink flowers.
Flosrea Pulvis Rubus, or commonly known as the hypno puffer, is a carnivorous bush that grows in the dense jungles of Primordial. The pollen that puffs out of the bushes' pink flowers, has a psychedelic effect on the victim's brain.
Side effects include, lightheadedness, increased ecstasy, and loss of motor skills. Once a victim has been paralyzed, the plant reaches out with it long vines to drag its prey underneath its bush where it will be consumed.
These plants were as old as the island itself as they have had the pleasure of wrapping countless creatures in their vines. Small dinosaurs and tiny mammals have been devoured over the last few centuries, and now it has a taste of human flesh. Poor Tsuna did not know that she was now in the clutches of a dangerous plant that deceived her.
The bush slowly released its vines and began to wrap around the small girl. Starting at her feet, the vines wrapped around her ankles, preventing her from any escape. Next, Tsuna's waste was encased in large vegetation before the vines moved up to her neck. Very playfully, the plant gave a quick tug around the girl's neck, suffocating her.
The force of the tug was too strong, for a brief moment, Tsuna awoke from her trance and saw the sun shining down on her. But the pollen that was released had fallen on the vines allowing the girl to breathe in the remaining plant pheromones. Tsuna could not help but released a big smile on her face as her eyes became a bright shade of pink, she was under the plant's spell once more.
Wrapped in a cocoon of green vines, Tsuna was not aware of the kind of danger she was in as the bush began to slowly drag her body across the brown soil. A grumbling noise could be heard from beneath the bush, for it was hungry for a tasty meal.
Before Tsuna could be dragged underneath the plant, the sound of branches breaking, and leaves rustling, could be heard. Bursting the a foliage of large green leaves, Maku charged to the plant to save his sister. The large gorilla ferociously tore through the vines that were wrapped around his sister.
While it would be deemed dangerous to attack this plant, given how the pollen is easy to breathe in, it would appear that it was limited. Because of Tsuna's playful interaction, the plant had released all its pollen. Even though it could create more, it would take a while for it to be dispersed.
Maku was not impressed by the plant's attempts of seducing him like how it did to his sister. The ape did his best to free Tsuna, ripping and tearing every vine that was wrapped around her.
Before he could free the human girl from the plant's grasp, Maku soon felt several vines wrap around his body. One wrapped around his hand while another wrapped around his neck before the young gorilla grew furious. Just as another vine began to wrap around his large belly, Maku yanked his arm free before ripping the vine around his neck.
Knowing that this plant could grab him easily, the male Ungana knew that he needed to leave the area as soon as possible. Using whatever strength he head left, Maku yanked off whatever remaining vines that were wrapped around him, before he charged to Tsuna. He grabbed his sister and threw her onto his back before the two of them left that part of the jungle.
Tsuna, who was still asleep, instinctively grabbed onto her brother's fur while Maku charged as far away from the plant as possible. For many years, the young girl would ride on her brother's back and despite being in a deep trance, she recognized her brother's scent as she grabbed onto Maku. Her brother on the other hand, breathed heavily after running for so long.
He looked back and saw how the bush was now far away from the two of them. Despite being a deceiving predator, the hypno puffer could only remain in one place. Maku was relieved to see that both he and Tsuna were out of harm's way.
Just as he was catching his breath, he heard a noise that startled him. He turned around and saw his father walk towards him, while the other gorillas looked at the young ape in confusion. It would seem that no one had known about the little adventure the brother and sister had gone through.
Taruk and Üma looked at their son and were perplexed as to why he was breathing heavily. On the other hand, they weren't suspicious as to why Tsuna was sleeping on his back, as it was common for her to latch onto her brother during large journeys. Maku did his best to remain calm and shrugged off any notion of the trouble both he and his sister got themselves in.
Perhaps it would be best if they didn't know that their son and daughter were almost eaten by a plant. All that mattered was that Tsuna was safe, and sound asleep, all thanks to her big brother. The brother and sister followed their parents as they continued their journey across the jungle. Hopefully there wouldn't be any carnivorous plants at their new nest ground.
That's gonna be it for this chapter everyone. I hope you all enjoyed this one.
One of the things that my friend wanted to feature in this story was that it's not just the animals that are trying to eat you, but also the plants as well. The hypno puffer was something he created which was an interesting idea. The concept of even the most beautiful plants being lethal was what fascinated me most.
At the same time this chapter serves as the final chapter in Tsuna's childhood. What I mean by that from this point on, Tsuna is going to be more independent and relying less on her friends and family to rescue her. Trust me the next chapter is gonna be really fun.
