Chapter 2
A Message from the Sea
Its was defiantly our old lizard friend Liz alright. She was making her way from the sea to the shore on a surfboard. The little chameleon waved as she caught a wave. The wave brings her to shore smoothly as we all run up to her "LIZ? LIZ!" we all shouted.
Liz wearing a strippy bathing suit was jumping for joy like she was very happy to see us. "How's it going Liz?" asks Ralphie, she continued to jump around and wave her arms around. Being a lizard she was unable to speak human but she spoke in her own lizardy way.
As she stepped off the surfboard and quickly we all noticed that it wasn't just any surfboard. It was yellow and had unusually markings that looked like eyes that winked at you. "Bus?" we all cried, is this for real are we in the presence of the Magic School Bus again?.
The surfboard then made a familiar beeping sound. "Yep its the bus!" cries Carlos "but what's it doing here?" asks Keesha, we all look around at each other with confused faces. If Liz and the Bus are here, then that would mean that someone they know very well isn't too far "Hey Liz?" i ask "Where is Ms Frizzle?".
Surely when Liz and the Bus are around Ms Frizzle wouldn't be far away. Liz continues to jump and wave around. The bus surfboard remained bogged in the sand. "Maybe Ms Frizzle was having a beach day too!" says Arnold, "but where could she be Arn?" asks Tim, "Maybe she went out for a surf and fell off!" says DA concernedly.
We notice Liz nodding her head, was DA right had Ms Frizzle fallen off the surfboard?. Liz continues to do hand actions, she almost looked like she was making swimming movements but on land. We were all confused. "Liz, does she need saving? is she in trouble?" i ask her gentley. She nods and runs back towards the sea and points at it.
We could not see her anywhere. Of course we wanted to help look for her but how and where do we start?. "Maybe, she want's us to come with her?" suggests Wanda and Liz nods again this time also clapping. I look out towards the horizon, i suddenly begin to feel something like the ocean was calling to me.
It wasn't the salty smell or the seaweed curling around my ankles. Its a message from the sea telling us that our old beloved teacher needed saving and were chosen us for a mission. Is this to be a rescue/unexpected field trip?.
"Let's go guys! There is no time to lose!" says Wanda who was now standing knee deep in the water. Liz is jumping for joy and goes toward the Bus surfboard and presses something on it. It then starts wizing around like a tornado and lands near Wanda in the sea. It has now become a boat.
Wanda was always the tough one and on this occasion i actually agreed with her that we were to go and look for Ms Frizzle. I then pick Liz but and placed her on my shoulder "Come on guys! It's like a message from the sea!" i cry, "You right Phoebs! Let's have an adventure!" says Ralphie.
"Just like old times!" says Tim as everyone except for Arnold begins to climb into the Bus Boat. Arnold takes few steps back as usual "Oh ah how about i stay here and look after our things or in case Ms Frizzle turns up here?" he says to us.
"Oh come on Arnold! When will there be another oppotunity like this to ride the Magic School Bus again?" says DA "Plus our old teacher might be in serious trouble, you want to help us save her right?" ask Keesha. Arnold lets out a breath knowling that he wasn't going to be able to get out of this one. He did have a heart but just hated usual field trips. He then climbed into the bus boat and Liz took the rains in driving it.
We chugged a long for a while going away from the bay of Mussell Beach and out towards sea. "I cannot see any sign of her anywhere!" says Ralphie "I help she hasn't drowned!" i answer to him placing my hands on my cheeks in worry "Maybe she is stranded on one of those islands" Keesha suggested.
"So Liz, where did you last see her?" asks Carlos but before his question , the bus boat began to act strange. The bus boat began to spin again making us all dizzy "WOOOOOOOO!" we all cried. Soon the spinning had stopped and we all soon find that the bus has changed again. This time into a familiar looking submarine.
"Liz, was that you?" i ask the Lizard but she looks at me shaking her head "At least we didn't shrink!" cries Arnold, "Is the bus malfunctioning again Liz?" asks DA who had her arms folded. Liz nods and looks at her in shame. "Oh great now we are looking for Ms Frizzle on a malfunctioning Magic School Bus!" says Ralphie.
"and how and will we be able to get home?" shouts Arnold, "Calm down everybody, we have a mission, a mission to save Ms Frizzle and we will do it with or without a malfunctioning bus, who's with me?" shouts Wanda. Well that certainly slienced us all. We all popped our hands up and agreed to carry out the mission with or without a malfunctioning bus. Liz seemed very proud.
I got out of my seat and walked over towards Liz who was driving the bus submarine "Liz, i still feel that the sea is calling to me like its telling me that Ms Frizzle had been here, could Ms Frizzle trapped somewhere underwater?" i ask her. Liz presses a button and from the dashboard a lid opens containing what looked like lesson plans and maps.
"What's that?" asks Tim, we all look through the paperwork. "According to my research, it appears to me Ms Frizzle's lesson plans, maps and reports about field trips she want's to take with her new students but i do not understand why there are drawings and photos of mermaids and merman?" says DA, "Mermaids and Merman do not exist!" cries Carlos "They are just fantasy creatures!".
"Maybe Ms Frizzle has an interest in them! Maybe she is writing a book or something and she is going some research in the ocean to get ideas!" i suggest to Carlos. I was rather hoping that might be the case!. Maybe she had somehow turned herself into a mermaid and is lost or trapped somewhere in the ocean.
"Oh don't be silly Phoebs, Carlos is right Merpeople are real! Same goes for fairies and dragons and other fantasy creatures!" says Wanda "but you never know Wanda! You think of this how can a Magic Bus be possible huh? Maybe Ms Frizzle had programmed it to give her a fish tail!" i say to Wanda. DA comes and places her hand on my shoulder.
"She does have a point, anything is possible when the Magic School Bus is around and particularly since its malfunctioning, you never know, our Ms Frizzle may have been turned into a mermaid!" DA says to Wanda and everyone else. We look over to Liz and she had her arms folded.
"That's never happened has it Liz" i ask her "Ok then let's go and explore deeper!" says Ralphie "Maybe we should go out there oursleves, Liz any wetsuits and diving gear avaliable?" asks Carlos. Liz nods and presses a button with her tail on the dashboard. The Bus Submarine jigged like it was about to explode "What now?" asks Arnold.
A red light started to flash and then made a popping sound like a bubble had burst. Soon the ceiling opened "Great here comes our scuba gear!" Tim shouted, i soon tap Tim on the shoulder as i looked up as well "A fish tail?" i cry.
