I needed to clear my head, this was the perfect way to do it. I was flying through the woods, the ground quite under my paws. The rest of the pack have gone to their homes to rest, except me and Jake. Jake is running with me. We are just finishing our patrol, but I'm letting my mind wander. Which isn't necessarily a good thing. I'm nervous that the newborn army is coming closer.
Jake - Bells it'll be fine. Right shared thoughts. Jake laughs in his mind. I could block my thoughts, but I don't. Not from Jake.
Jake - Come on Bells you need to rest.
Fine. We start running towards Billys house. Our home. My home. I focus on the sounds of the forest, the water flowing from a creek, the rustling of the branches in the wind. It calms me down. Before I know it we're outside the faded red house. I walk behind a big ash tree and phase. I untie the clothes around my leg and get dressed. I walk towards the back door, before Jake grabs my hand. I smile and we walk inside. It's pitch black outside, but Billy left the back porch light on. But before I can walk over to my room, Jake pulls me over to the couch. Pulling me into his lap. I don't notice the tears burrning on my checks until I felt Jakes soft hand whip them away. He doesn't say anything, just holds me there for a few minutes. I look up into his beautiful dark intelligent eyes. I keep looking into his eyes, as I move my face closer to his. I kiss him, the kiss is soft and gentle. Before we both pull away and get up.
"I love you." I whisper in his ear.
"I love you to." He whispers back. I hug him, before walking over to my room. I really need new clothes. I decide that I will call Leah and see if she has some extra clothes tomorrow. I feel a bit guilty that I need to buy new clothes when I should be preparing for the battle. I decide to figure it out tomorrow. I'm so tired that I just flop over on my bed and fall asleep.
I wake up panting, I had a nightmare. I look over at the clock on my bedside table, its 4:56am. I groan, but I know I won't get more sleep. I get up and walk over to the kitchen. I hear soft snoring coming from the 2 other bedrooms. I smile to myself. I'm gonna cook eggs and bacon today. The sun is barly starting to come up, when I hear soft footsteps. I keep cooking, when I feel arms wrap around my waist. I look up, know who it is. Jake. I smile and start scrambling a ton of eggs. Wolfs have big appetites. Jake kisses my forehead, before helping with the bacon. We cook in silence for a while until we hear Billy wheeling himself down the hallway.
"Good morning kids." Billy says, wheeling himself into the small sunny kitchen.
"Morning dad." Jake says, I turn and smile at Billy. Me and Jake finish cooking the eggs and bacon and put the big plates down on the table. Jake sits down as I get plates out for everyone. I sit down next to Jake and we all grab servings of eggs and bacon. Me and Jake both wolf our food down and grab second servings. Billy laughs. Jake is starting on his 3 serving when I break the comfortable silence.
"Jake do you know when we meet with the Cullens later?" I ask, I know we have a bonfire tonight so I don't know when we are meeting with the Cullens. Jake stops eating for a minute and swallows, before looking at me.
"Noon, we have a bonfire tonight a 8." Jake responded, before continuing to eat. I nodd and get up.
"I'm going to Leahs." I say, I'm gonna see if she has any extra clothes. Billy and Jake nodd. I decide to phase and run there. I go to the treeline, undress and phase.
Embry - Hey Bella!
Hey Embry.
Paul - Don't forgot me! I roll my eyes and start running towards the Clearwaters. It barly takes anytime, before I see the Clearwaters house. I quickly phase back, get dressed and walk over to the back porch. I see Sue reading on the porch, she smiles at me as I walk over.
"Hey Sue. Is Leah here?" I ask, as I giving her a hug. She happily returns it.
"Yes, she's in the kitchen with Harry." Sue says, I nodd and walk inside. I hear Leah talking to Harry about the bonfire later tonight. Leah must hear me, because she walks into the hallway, before rushing over and hugging me.
"Hey Bella!" Leah says happily. I smile.
"Hey Leah. How are you?" I know I'm not the only one who is nervous for the fight. Her smile fades a bit.
"Ok. I'm worried about Seth." Leah says, worry lacing her voice. I hug her again.
"I'm worried too. But I was wondering if maybe you had some extra clothes? I have literally none left after I phased for the first time." I say lighthearted. Leah laughs.
"Sure, I needed to buy a whole new wardrobe after I phased." She says, taking my hand and leading me up the stairs and into her room. She lets go of my hand and starts going through her closet. Throwing a few cut off shorts, t-shirts and sports bras behind her. I just watch, while I sit on her bed. Then she turns around grabs all the clothes off the floor and shoves them into my hands.
"I hope they fit." She says, sit down next to me. I'm just staring at all the clothes she shoved into my hands. She laughs at my expression.
"Thank you SO much Leah!" I say excitedly, pulling her into a quick hug.
"Of course." She says smiling.
"Well I should go. See you later!" I say, grabbing all the clothes off the bed and walking towards the door.
"See you, Bells." She says, smiling at me. I smile back. Leah feels like my sister. She is my sister. I walk downstairs and say hi to Harry. Then I got back through the back door onto the back porch. Sue is still sitting there. She looks surprised when I walk out with a armful of clothes. I laugh. Before explaining to her, that Leah gave me some more clothes. She doesn't mind and I say bye. I go to the treeline, undress and phase. Embry and Paul are still there. Seth and Jared have joined them.
Seth and Jared - Hey Bella! They say it at the same time and we all burst out laughing.
Hey guys. I pick up the clothes in my mouth and rush back home. It really is my home. I drop the clothes on the back porch, I pick up a sports bra and a pair of cut off shorts. Before going behind a tree and phasing. I change into my fresh clothes and carry my old clothes with me. I pick up all my clothes and walk inside. I see Billy watching a game of basketball. Jake isn't in the living room with Billy. I wonder if he is meeting the others at Emily and Sam's.
"Hey Billy." I say, as I walk towards my room.
"Hey Bella. Jake is going to meet the pack at Sam's." Billy says, so I was right. I bring all my clothes in my room and stuff them in the closet. I'll have to organize them later. I go into the bathroom to look at me in my mew outfit. WOW. I totally forgot about the changes that come with being a wolf. My hair has gotten darking and I wasn't as pale anymore, it looked like I had tanned. I noticed that I was probably 5'11 tall now, about Leah's height, maybe even a bit taller. I also had a lot more muscle now. Not as much as Jake or Sam or the other boys, but still a lot. My arms and legs were more defined and I could see that I have a faint 6-pack. After staring at myself in the mirror for a few minutes, I walk back into the living room. I said bye to Billy and walked out throught the back door. I went to the treeline, undressed and phased. No one was with me, it was so quiet. I needed this today. Just listening to the world around me and letting my mind wander without the others talking in my head.
I saw that I was coming up to the house. The others were all talking on the porch. I barked and they all looked up. But I had moved, I went around the house and snuck up on Seth. I nudged him with my big wolf nose, knocking him down. Everyone turned around as Seth let out a playful laugh. Everyone started laughing. Leah help Seth up, as Leah was doing that Jake walked over to me.
"Bells." He said in a fake stern voice, I barked. He laughed even harding and pet my big furry head. I wanted everyone to be a bit happier even with everything happening and it worked. They were all laughing and talking with each other. I went to the back of the house and phased back. I got dressed and walked around the house. I heard a gasp as I came into their view. Right, they were reacting to my changed appearance since becoming a wolf. I blushed and walked over to them.
"Wow Bells..." All the boys were staring open mouthed at me, I laughed. Leah and Emily laughed with me. Leah smirked and Emily smiled.
"Boys." I muttered jokingly. I couldn't hold back more laughter. Emily started back to the door, shot me a joking 'get ready' look and said something that made all the boys rush inside.
"Food!" She yelled as she walked inside. Everyone except me, Leah and Jake rushed inside. I rolled my eyes. Jake walked over to me and took my hand. I gave him a quick kiss before walking hand in hand with him towards Leah. She was still smirking, I shot her a fake death glare. She giggled and gave me a hug before going inside. Me and Jake walk in behind her. Everyone was wolfing down the food. Of course. I don't know how Emily cooks for all of us. I can't even imagine how much money she spends every month just on groceries. The atmosphere was full of love and happiness, but I can feel the tension building. I didn't eat anything. I was leaning against a cabinet in the kitchen talking to Emily when Jake started talking about the reason we were all here.
"I'm sorry guys, but we still have to talk about the battle." Jake said, it became silent in the room. Jake continued. "Collin and Brady you guys are going to stay back and watch over the res, the rest of us are going to be on the battle field, fighting aloneside the Cullens." Jake said, he looked at me as you spoke. Collin and Brady seemed upset that they couldn't help, but they are the youngest and the newest members. Barly the newest members, I only phased a few days before them, but I also new about it before I phased. We talk more about the fight and what everyone needs to be careful of during it. Before we knew it, it was time to meet the Cullens. We had 2 more meetings with them before the battle.
We all went outside, went behind diffrent trees and bushes, undressed and phased. I tried not to think to much about what happened with Edward and Rosalie yesterday. We arrived at the treaty line and jumped the river. We went back to the same clearning as yesterday. I was really starting to freak out at this point. The pack was trying to calm me down, they felt my worry and panic. I didn't want to hurt them so I blocked my thoughts from them.
Sam - Bella we're here for you, we can handle it.
Jake - Bells, you ok?
Leah - Please let us here you.
Paul - Yeah Bella, your our pack sister.
I shock my head, I wouldn't hurt them with my thoughts. I knew I shouldn't be freaking out, but I'm scared. Scared for my pack, my family. I couldn't stop the small sad worried whimper that escaped my mouth. Now they were worried. I let them hear me again for a minute to tell them something.
Guys, I'm fine. Don't worry about it. Then I bloked my thoughts again, they still wanted to worry about me, but then the Cullens arrived. The looked stressed. I saw Rosalie glaring at me again, Edward was staring at the ground. Carlisle stepped forward.
"We have bad news." Carlisle said, pausing for a moment before continuing. I couldn't deal with the others worrying about me anymore, I pushed my worry and fear and opened my thoughts to them. They seemed to calm down a bit, but were on high alert, because of what Carlisle said. "The army is arriving tomorrow." He finshes. Frantic, worried thoughts swirl throught my mind, from my pack and from me. No, I wasn't ready. I never wanted to have to be ready. This is all my fault, I don't care what everyone says. It is. I hear the pack disagree with what I knew is the truth. I block my thoughts again. Happy that I can spare them any extra pain, worry and guilt. Carlisle steped back and Jasper steped forward.
"That being said, this is the last time we meet before the battle. They will get here at 10am tomorrow, please be here by 9:30 if not sooner." Jasper said, I tense. Then it was time for them to practice fighting again. Everyones thoughts we're everywhere. Worry, sadness, anger, were all part of the thoughts. I was still hiding my thoughts, but it was hard. The pack could tell it was hard for me. They keep trying to get me to not worry about hiding my thoughts. I didn't listen. I wouldn't make them feel worse, because of me. But it was getting hard. I had to protect them, but I couldn't. They shouldn't have to suffer, because of me. I pinned my ears back and closed my eyes as I thought of all the pain I had brought to everyone in my life. I knew it didn't help for me to be thinking about that right now, but I couldn't not thik about it. I lay down on the grass and let my thoughts and emotions run wild. Still hiding my thoughts from the pack. They could tell I was trying really hard, not to let them hear my thoughts. I felt something laying down next to me, I opened my eyes and saw Jake. He had his ears pinned back, just like mine. I stared into his eyes for a few seconds, before shutting my eyes again. I hear the others all laying down with me and Jake. This calmed me down, but I didn't want them to worry about me. I don't know how long they layed with me, before getting back up, but I knew that Jake was at my side almost the whole time. I had been there for multiple hours when the Cullens finally stopped. I opened my eyes and got up, waiting to hear what they would say. I finally let the pack here my thoughts again. They were relieved that I finally let them hear my thoughts again.
Quil - Glad to have ya back Bella.
Leah - Please don't hurt yourself for us.
Embry - Yeah.
Jake - Bells this isn't just about us. It hurts you too.
I know. I feel guilty, but push it back.
"Thank you all for fighting alongside us. Lifes may be lost, be smart. Good luck." Carlisle says, Jake nods and we all get up. The bonfire starts soon, we run straight towards the beach. I can't get what Carlisle said out of my mind. 'Lifes may be lost...' No, I won't lose anyone. The others are all thinking the same thing. We see First Beach in front of us and all go behind separate trees and bushes to phase. I have a hard time phasing back this time, my mind is racing. It takes all my focus to calm down enough to phase back. I get dressed and walk over to the bonfire on the beach. All the others are there. Including all the imprints, Sue and Harry, Old Quil and Billy. I sit down next to Jake and Leah. Billy smiles at me, before turning to the rest of the pack.
"Before we start we have 3 new members to the pack." Billy says, gesturing towards me, Collin and Brady. I nodd towards Billy. He continues. "We will also be celebrating a shift of power in the pack." Billy says, eyeing me from the corner of his eye. Billy begins to tell the legends of the tribe. I have only heard 1 of them, so I enjoy hearing about the others. It is very important for me to know the legends. After Billy finishes he turns his attention to me.
"As I said before, we have a shift of power in the pack, Bella and Jake please stand." Billy says, me and Jake get up and stand in front of the others.
"We do not know why Bella phased, however we are very happy to have another member of the pack. As she is also the alpha imprint it makes her alpha female. Bella will you care of your pack, your family and your tribe?" I nodd, he continues. "Are you willing to do whatever you can to protect them?" I nodd again. "And will you use your power to help your pack, your family and your tribe?" I nodd one last time. "Then it is final, Bella is now alpha female. She will have the second most power in the pack after Jack." Billy finishes, everyone cheers. I look up at Jake and it feels like time stops. Again. I didn't think that I would ever imprint, but I just did. A double imprint, the most powerful connection there can be as a wolf. Jake eyes brim with love, I lean forward and our lips meet. It's only for a few seconds, but it makes me feel complete. Everyone is silent. As I pull back I lean into Jakes bare chest. Billy breaks the silence after a few minutes of comfortable silence.
"A double imprint." Billy says softly. Everyone looks at us before they slowly start conversations with each other again. I feel safe here, I wish this moment could last forever. Me and Jake end up talking with everyone, before people start going home. Sue drove Billy home and me and Jake ran through the forest together. Stronger then ever. Tomorrow is the fight. The fight for my pack, my family, my tribe, my life.
The battle is in the next chapter! I was considering making this chapter into 2 chapters, but decided against it. I hope you guys enjoyed the chapter!
