Naruto rubbed his bandaged torso, feeling the cold of the ice castle pressing in against his warm skin. Outside the shimmering walls, the wind howled like a wounded creature.

He offered her a disarming smile as he sat on a frosty bench. "So…Queen Elsa of Arendelle," he said lightly, the title rolling off his tongue with a mixture of respect and curiosity. "You mentioned you were the former queen. Why'd you give that up? From what I've seen, you seem more than capable of protecting your kingdom." He paused a moment. "And you saved my life."

Elsa, who stood with her arms crossed in front of her chest, pressed her lips into a thin line. She'd never truly spoken to an outsider about her powers—or her fears. But something about Naruto's quiet confidence, and the compassion in his blue eyes, calmed her. She felt safe enough to share at least a small part of her burden.

"I…didn't give it up by choice," Elsa admitted softly. Her emerald gaze flickered toward the castle's grand entrance. "I froze the entire kingdom by accident. That's why I left. I wanted to protect my sister, Anna—and everyone else—from myself. My powers hurt people."

She shuddered at the memory of sending Arendelle into an eternal winter. She'd eventually reversed it, only for other troubles to arise soon after. In the eyes of many, she remained a miracle worker. But deep down, Elsa sometimes believed she was nothing but a walking curse.

Naruto rose, pressing a reassuring hand to her shoulder. "You're not a monster," he said firmly. "I know what that's like—to worry that the power inside you might hurt the people around you. Trust me." He chuckled without humor, remembering how many years he'd battled the Nine-Tails sealed inside him. "But you can learn to control it. I did."

Elsa's eyes widened slightly. "You did?" she whispered, the ice beneath their feet crackling from her sudden surge of emotion.

He nodded, then decided it was best to keep details about the Tailed Beasts and shinobi war to himself—at least for now. "All you need is a little practice. A little faith in yourself." He paused. "And apparently, we've got something bigger to worry about."

Elsa's brow furrowed. "What do you mean?" The swirl of magic that lingered in the air around her started to dissipate.

Naruto exhaled. "There's a threat—a dangerous evil—that's going to awaken soon and destroy this planet. Where I come from, I've dealt with threats like that before. But now, it's complicated. I'm not in my world anymore."

Elsa pressed a palm to the cold walls of her castle, letting the ice solidify beneath her fingertips. "That's…terrible. Arendelle—everyone in the neighboring kingdoms—"

"They're all in danger," Naruto finished. "And there's some kind of prophecy that says only by uniting the eight pillars can we stop it." He hesitated, searching her face. "From what I gather, you're one of them."

She regarded him with a stunned look. "Me? One of these pillars? That's impossible. I'm just…" Her throat tightened. "I'm only trying to keep from hurting people."

Naruto offered her a calming grin. "I guess the universe has bigger plans for you. Same for me. I'm not from this place, but that's not stopping me from doing what's right." He looked up, noticing the gentle swirl of snow that drifted through the high spires of the ice castle. "We can figure it out together."

Elsa slowly uncrossed her arms. For so long, she had carried her burdens alone—pushing away Anna, shutting herself off from the world. But what if this time, she didn't isolate herself? What if she accepted help?

"All right," Elsa murmured, summoning her courage. "I'll hear you out."

Naruto let a flicker of relief cross his features. "We should probably start by reuniting you with your sister," he said. "I imagine she's worried sick about you."

At that, Elsa's expression softened. "Yes. Anna. She never stops worrying about me. She's probably off doing something reckless right this moment."

Naruto chuckled. "Then let's go stop her from doing something crazy." He held out a hand. "It's nice to meet you properly, Elsa."

She clasped his hand gently, the warmth of his skin startling against her cool fingers. "Thank you…Naruto."

Some hours later, Anna and Kristoff found themselves in the midst of a fierce argument over a map—one that was fluttering wildly in the wind. The sky was iron-gray, and the snow whipped around them in a blur of white. Sven the reindeer stood nearby, shaking his head, as if to protest the frigid gale that battered them all.

"Anna, we're totally lost!" Kristoff groaned. He squinted at the battered parchment. "I can barely read this thing with all the snow in my eyes!"

Anna huffed, brushing a few strands of her chestnut-red hair from her face. "We're not lost!" she insisted, though doubt creeped into her voice. "We just…haven't found Elsa's ice castle yet."

"We passed that ridge half an hour ago," Kristoff argued. "It's like we're going in circles." His eyes narrowed. "I told you we should have brought more supplies, or at least asked the townspeople for directions."

Anna shot him a glare. "I'm not involving more people in this," she muttered, guilt evident in her voice. "Elsa left Arendelle to protect them—she wouldn't want an entire search party tracking her down. Besides, I'm her sister; I know she's out here somewhere."

The wind picked up, and the swirling flakes stung Anna's cheeks. Kristoff looked around, a flicker of concern in his eyes. "We need to find some shelter," he said, voice raised above the howl. "Sven and I—"

He stopped short. Sven let out a snort of alarm. Through the veil of snow, two silhouetted figures emerged, walking slowly across the frozen expanse. One of them was clothed in black, his blond hair bright against the gloom. The other was tall and lithe, wearing a shimmering, pale-blue gown that seemed to dance with frost.

Anna's eyes lit up. "Elsa!" she shouted, practically tripping over her own feet as she sprinted forward.

"Anna?" Elsa called back. Her voice carried across the ice, and as the two sisters neared, Anna all but collided into Elsa's arms.

"You're safe," Anna breathed, voice muffled against Elsa's shoulder. Elsa gently embraced her, a wave of relief washing over them both.

Behind them, Naruto approached Kristoff, offering a friendly wave. "Hey," he said. "You must be Anna's friend."

"Fiancé," Kristoff corrected, though he flushed a little. "Well, hopefully…someday." He cast a sidelong glance at Anna hugging Elsa. "Who are you?"

"Name's Naruto," he replied. "I'm sort of…new around here."

Kristoff eyed Naruto's foreign attire and the bandages visible near his collar. "Okay. You look like you've been through the wringer," he commented, half wary, half concerned. "You Elsa's new bodyguard or something?"

Naruto grinned. "You could say that. Actually—Elsa saved my life." He thumbed over his shoulder. "She helped patch me up."

Kristoff let out a low whistle. "All right. That's…new." Then he stepped forward to greet Elsa, noticing the relief in Anna's face. "Queen Elsa, you okay?"

"I'm fine," Elsa murmured, though a swirl of snow spun around her ankles, betraying her uneasy energy. "But we can't stay here. We should go to the castle. It's safer than out in the open."

Anna nodded vigorously. "Yes! I'm freezing!" She rubbed her arms, though she paused to stare in wonder at Naruto. "But first…hi. I'm Anna. Officially meeting you now."

Naruto gave a warm chuckle. "Nice to meet you, Anna. I'm Naruto Uzumaki."

She tilted her head in curiosity. "And how on earth did you end up out here?"

"Long story," he replied. Then, with a slight grin, he turned to the others. "And if we want to survive this storm, we better keep moving."

Without further delay, the group trekked back toward Elsa's ice palace. Sven plodded happily along, relieved to get out of the open tundra. For a moment, as they walked, Anna squeezed Elsa's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. It felt so normal—the two sisters side by side, while Kristoff and Sven brought up the rear. But now, there was also Naruto, striding ahead, occasionally glancing over his shoulder as though scanning for danger.

Anna wondered what else was going on behind his bright-blue eyes. Elsa, on the other hand, marveled that he actually seemed comfortable leading.

Soon, the castle's icy spires loomed overhead. They glowed in the setting sun, tinted orange at the tips and blue at the base. The wind died down near the grand entrance, and the group collectively exhaled, glad for the relative protection from the elements.

They gathered in the main hall, which shimmered under shifting lights that Elsa's magic had created. Pillars of solid ice rose to the high ceiling, and elaborate staircases arched in graceful loops. Despite its beauty, the air still clung to a sharp chill, so Elsa—a small smile on her lips—offered to create something akin to a campfire.

"Stand back," she warned softly, her breath white in the cold. With careful precision, Elsa conjured a swirling cluster of snow in her palm. Then, focusing on the shape, she formed a crystalline ring reminiscent of a basin. In the center, she fashioned small, flickering shards that glowed with a luminescent blue light.

Anna marveled. "Like an ice-bonfire," she whispered, stepping forward to warm her hands, despite the fact that it didn't offer true heat. There was something about the glow that soothed her. "Wow, Elsa, that's new."

Elsa ducked her head in a modest nod. "I've been practicing."

Naruto, meanwhile, set his pack down on a smooth bench. He glanced at Kristoff, whose arms were folded, expression suspicious. Anna was still beaming at Elsa, but Naruto could tell the others would eventually want an explanation.

He cleared his throat. "So," he began, "I think it's time we talk about what's really going on."

Anna tore her gaze from the magical 'fire' and blinked at him. Kristoff stood a bit straighter, and Elsa pursed her lips.

"What do you mean, exactly?" Anna asked, stepping closer to Elsa, as though to protect her.

Naruto ran a hand through his unruly blond hair, searching for the simplest way to explain. "I'm not from this world," he said carefully, "but I'm here because there's a prophecy about a great evil that's set to awaken. I was chosen— to protect this world. And according to what I've learned, there are eight special individuals—eight pillars—who hold the key to sealing that evil away."

He gestured toward Elsa. "She's one of them."

Kristoff's jaw dropped. "Elsa? A—pillar?"

Anna's eyes flickered with surprise and fear. "What…evil? And how do you know all this?"

Elsa placed a hand on her sister's shoulder, sensing Anna's concern. "I saw him use magic," she said. "He can create wind, or something similar. And he mentioned that his power is different from ours—something from another realm."

Naruto nodded. "That's right. Where I come from, it's called chakra. It's an energy inside all living things. My world—my old world—had plenty of evils to fight. But here, it's like I was plucked out of my dimension and dropped into this one. And I have a mission."

He paused, sighing softly. "I'm supposed to gather the eight pillars. Each of you—each pillar—wields a power tied to nature in some form. Elsa commands ice, and that seems to have singled her out as one of these guardians."

Silence reigned for a moment. Anna's brow knit in confusion. "What happens when you gather all eight?" she asked, voice small.

"Then, we figure out how to seal the threat away," Naruto explained. "Before it destroys everything."

Kristoff let out a low whistle. "That's…insane."

Elsa drew a breath, trying to steady herself as the reality of the situation descended on them. "We'll have to leave Arendelle," she said quietly, "to find the others."

Anna's eyes widened. "Leave Arendelle? Elsa, we can't just—" She stopped herself. A year ago, she might have insisted that Elsa remain near the kingdom, to keep it safe, or that the problem didn't concern them. But the memory of the eternal winter, and the constant threat to the people she loved, chilled her.

"We'll do it," Anna declared, lifting her chin. "I'm coming with you, obviously. Kristoff and Sven too. If the kingdom's in danger, we have to help protect it."

Kristoff, despite his initial reluctance, nodded. "I'm in," he said simply.

Elsa's gaze flicked from one face to the other, gratitude and apprehension mingling in her expression. "Thank you," she whispered. "All of you."

Naruto felt a surge of admiration for them—how quickly they banded together. They're just like Team 7 used to be, he thought, heart twinging with memories of Sakura, Sasuke, and Kakashi. Here he was again, forging alliances in a new land. He closed his eyes briefly, committing himself fully to this cause.

That night, with the wind reduced to a gentle moan beyond the ice castle walls, the group shared what meager rations they had. Elsa conjured cups made of translucent ice, and Naruto jokingly fretted about how easily he might chip a tooth. Anna offered him some leftover bread from her pack, which he devoured with gusto.

In the flickering blue glow of Elsa's ice-fire, they talked late into the evening. Naruto spoke about how he'd been in many battles, how he'd protected his home from a monstrous threat. Anna asked question after question, eyes sparkling with curiosity—though she had to keep pulling Kristoff down whenever he tried to interrupt with logistical concerns about traveling or finances.

Elsa mostly listened, occasionally humming in sympathy when Naruto described the burden of having a great power sealed inside him. She thought of her own childhood: the gloves, the secrecy, the fear. There was a kinship there.

Eventually, as the conversation wound down, they decided to map a route to Arendelle for supplies. From there, they would embark on a journey across the various lands, seeking the other pillars. Anna mentioned neighbors to the north, a mountainous region to the west, and a desert kingdom far beyond the southern sea. Rumors of magic sometimes drifted from these places—old tales of earth-shapers, wind-callers, or illusions so real they could fool a kingdom.

Naruto had begun to drift into an uneasy sleep when something jolted him awake. At first, he thought the trembling was an earthquake—ice rattled overhead. Then he heard a distant rumbling, echoing through the empty corridors of the castle.

Boom.

He leapt to his feet, heart pounding. The others stirred. Elsa sat up sharply, eyes flicking around the dimly lit hall. "What was that?" she asked, voice tense.

Naruto grabbed a kunai out of habit—though this world seemed to have fewer ninja, he still had some of his old gear. Kristoff stumbled up, rummaging for a lantern. Anna tugged on her boots, hair disheveled, blinking the sleep from her eyes.

Again, the noise sounded: a deep boom, as if something massive were pounding at the walls. Sven let out a nervous grunt, pawing at the slick floor.

Elsa tensed. "We're under attack?"

A crack splintered along the far wall. Frozen shards rained down. "Everyone, stand back!" Naruto warned. He stepped forward, channeling the swirling chakra in his palm.

With a deafening crash, a hulking creature burst through the outer wall of the palace. Its body was formed of jagged ice and massive fists, a tangle of frost and swirling snow. Its glowing blue eyes fixated on Elsa with a furious intensity.

"That's—!" Anna gasped, stepping back, nearly stumbling over Kristoff.

Elsa recognized it too. It looked like a terrifying mutation of the snow-giant she'd once conjured—Marshmallow. But this one was darker, more sinister, as if corrupted by a malevolent force.

The ice-golem lumbered forward, roaring with a sound like an avalanche. Shards of ice exploded beneath its feet. "Stay behind me," Naruto shouted, bounding forward with ninja-like speed. He thrust his palm out, forming a swirling sphere of blue energy. "Rasengan!"

The attack smashed into the golem's chest, sending cracks through its icy torso. With a shudder, it reeled back, huge icicles crashing to the floor. But it didn't go down. Instead, it swung a colossal arm. Naruto leapt aside, narrowly avoiding being crushed.

Elsa fought her rising panic. She'd never seen her conjured creations act so violently—well, aside from that first time. But this was different. She wasn't controlling it.

"Let me help!" she cried, stepping forward. She raised her palms, sending a focused blast of ice at the golem. Her magic coiled around its limbs, trying to freeze it in place. For a moment, it slowed, limbs crackling as frost layers built up.

Anna and Kristoff grabbed whatever they could find—chunks of broken ice, a makeshift pole—to try to distract the creature. Sven circled behind, letting out anxious bleats.

Naruto took a breath, steeling himself. "Elsa, keep it pinned!" he shouted. Then, as the golem roared and tried to break free, Naruto formed a series of hand seals. He inhaled sharply. Wind Release: Gale Palm!

A powerful gust of wind swirled around him, merging with the swirling snow. The invisible force hammered the golem's chest, fracturing it further. Elsa seized the opportunity, intensifying her freezing magic. With one final crack, the monster's torso shattered into massive shards, scattering across the floor in a glistening debris field.

Silence fell, except for their ragged breaths. The only movement was the gentle swirl of loose snow drifting down from the gaping hole in the wall.

"Everybody okay?" Naruto asked, panting slightly.

Anna nodded, though she still looked shell-shocked. Kristoff was holding a chunk of ice in mid-throw, blinking in astonishment that the fight ended so quickly. Elsa stared at the scattered debris, her expression shaken.

"That…thing…" Elsa swallowed hard, lowering her hands. "It was like my powers had been twisted into something evil."

Naruto stepped closer, looking at the fragments. A subtle, inky darkness flickered on the edges of the shattered ice, as though some foreign energy had possessed it. He grimaced. "Looks like a piece of the threat I was telling you about," he murmured. "Something is already affecting the magic in this world."

Elsa's gaze lingered on the blackened bits. "If there's more of these monsters—"

"Then we need to move fast," Naruto finished. "We need to find the other pillars before this corruption spreads."

Anna, though breathing heavily, rested a hand on Elsa's back. "We'll do it," she said resolutely. "We'll keep everyone safe."

Kristoff lowered his chunk of ice, which fell to the floor with a hollow thunk. "We'll need supplies first. Arendelle isn't far—I say we head there at dawn, stock up, and figure out the next lead on these pillars."

Naruto and Elsa exchanged glances. "Agreed," Naruto said. "Let's get some rest first, if we can manage it."

But as they patched up the hole in the wall with Elsa's ice—her hands trembling from the confrontation—it occurred to Naruto that none of them would truly rest easy tonight. An echo of that monstrous roar lingered in the corridor, and a single question rang in Naruto's mind:

What if we're already too late?
