As Odysseus and the rest of the fleet recovers from the landing in this pitch-black water, they slowly look around, seeing that they're surrounded by hundreds of Laestrygonians. Suddenly, the waves begin to pitch fiercely below the fleet, becoming more and more intense, as they all hear them crash against a large rock, the sound akin to that of a boulder shattering. Drawn by the terrifying crash, they look to where it came from. There, upon the tallest rock of the sea, stands a being whose anger they'd only heard legends of. They know who it is just by the trident in his hand. This is he who was known as The Earth Shaker, The God Of The Sea, The One Who Holds The Earth. This was Poseidon himself. Ethereal voices chant quietly, as if announcing his arrival and the terror Odysseus and his crew should be feeling right now. "Poseidon! Poseidon! Poseidon! Poseidon!" The voices cry out, becoming louder and louder by the second. "Poseidon! Poseidon! Poseidon!" The voices yell, as Odysseus looks up in fear, echoing them as he sees the god, his voice filled with horror. "Poseidon!" He says, as Poseidon smirks at him, pointing his trident right at Odysseus. Even at the distance they're at, Poseidon's movements are easily visible to the entire fleet. He's clearly upset at Odysseus, even with a smirk on his face. He begins to speak. "In all my years of living, it's not very often that I get pissed off. I try to chill with the waves... but damn, you crossed the line." Poseidon states, shaking his head, his smirk remaining as he looks down at Odysseus, a glare appearing in his eyes. "I've been so gracious, and yet you hurt the son of mine!" He says, slamming the butt of his trident into the ground. "That's right. The cyclops you made blind... Is mine." Poseidon says, his smirk disappearing as a stern, angry expression on his face. Odysseus, shocked by this, simply shakes his head in fear, a single word escaping his mouth. "No!" He quietly says.
Poseidon jumps down from the rock, walking on the water to move closer to Odysseus as he speaks, towering over the captain with ease. He speaks once again. "I'm left without a choice and without a doubt! Guess the pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now!" As he speaks, he slowly begins to grow in size, becoming even more towering with every moment that passes, his trident growing along with him. "I gotta make you bleed! I need to see you drown! But before you go, I need to make you learn how ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves!" As he says this, reaching his truly horrifying height, and even the Laestrygonians look small compared to him as they echo his words. "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves!" They say, before Poseidon joins in, he and the Laestrygonians speaking as one. "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves! Ourselves!" They say. With how rough the waves have become, Odysseus had been having trouble staying on his ship, but now that he's gotten used to how it's rocking, and how the waves are crashing into it, he looks around, and sees Poseidon in this giant form of his. Looking at him strikes terror into Odysseus' heart like he's never felt before.
Poeseidon looks like his entire body is covered in seaweed, and horse-hooves seem to be appearing in the water wherever he waves his trident, his hands like hundreds of crab's claws fused together to make an approximation of the hands which a human being would have. His arms look like those of an eel, and rather than legs, poking ever so slightly out of the water are hundreds upon hundreds of tentacles, akin to that of a giant octopus or squid. The waves continue to increase in ferocity as Poseidon waves his trident through the water. He glares down at Odysseus, nothing but hate in his gigantic eyes. His hair looks like it's made of coral and many tiny sea creatures as he speaks, his eyes looking like the darkest parts of the sea where nobody would dare venture, his mouth open wide as he blows air out, his teeth like those of a shark, his very breath causing the waves to start tossing the ships around the sea. He finally speaks once more, the waves so brutal the fleet can't even try to use their oars, the crew holding on as tight as they can, hoping they aren't flung off their ships. "You are the worst kind of good 'cause you're not even great! A Greek who reeks of false righteousness, that's what I hate!"
As he speaks, Poseidon spins his trident in the water, causing whirlpools to begin forming. "Cause you fight to save lives, but won't kill and don't get the job done! I mean, you totally could have avoided all this had you just killed my son. But nooo..." He says, a dark smirk appearing on his face, as if he's almost amused by Odysseus' merciful attitude. "You are far too nice, mercy has a price! It's the final crack, we're bound to break the ice now!" As he says this, some ice that had drifted over due to the violent way Poseidon had been moving the waves and making whirlpools crashes against one of the ships in Odysseus' fleet, damaging the ship slightly as it breaks apart. Poseidon's glare and dark smirk seem to only grow as he continues to speak. "You reveal your name, then you let him live! Unlike you, I've got no mercy left to give, 'cause ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves!" As he speaks, the Laestrygonians once more repeat his words. "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves!" They say, Poseidon joining in with them again. "Ruthlessness is mercy upon ourselves! Ourselves!" He says, making the waves suddenly become so intense that Odysseus hears the wood of his ship begin to creak, as if it's struggling to remain together.
Poseidon speaks once again, raising his trident as if to bring it down and strike Odysseus' fleet down. "And now it is finally time to say goodbye! Today you die!" He says, before suddenly stopping, the seas instantly becoming disturbingly calm, as if they hadn't been raging mere seconds ago. Poseidon offers Odysseus a deal, of sorts. "Unless, of course, you apologize for my son's pain and all his cries." He says, his smirk having seemingly changed into a smile, though still a disturbing one due to the shark teeth he has. Odysseus, taking this chance, instantly begins to speak. "Poseidon, we meant no harm. We only hurt him to disarm him. We took no pleasure in his pain. We only wanted to escape. Poseidon seems almost like he's taking this seriously, closing his eyes as if he's thinking. "The line between naivete and hopefulness is almost invisible, so close your heart. The world is dark and ruthlessness is..." As he speaks, the Laestrygonian's joining in, Poseidon's eyes flying open as he evilly smiles. "Mercy! Die." The second Poseidon says this, suddenly, the waves are back, their intensity somehow even more crushing than before, as Odysseus sees a ship dragged into a whirlpool, and another slammed against the very rock Poseidon had appeared on earlier, while yet another is grabbed and crushed by Poseidon's many tentacles.
The Laestrygonians begin to speak once more, smiles upon their own faces. "Ruthlessness is mercy upon our-" Before they can finish, Odysseus hears the terrified yelling of his fleet. "Captain! Captain!" They yell, begging him for help. Unfortunately, the waves are so fiercely strong he can barely keep a hold of his own grip on his ship, let alone help his fleet. He sees one ship thrown towards the land from just how powerful the waves near it had become, and he sees the Laestrygonians throw boulders at it, crushing it as it flies through the sky. The Laestrygonians and Odysseus' crew continue to speak back and forth, almost as though they're fighting over his attention. "Ruthlessness is mercy upon our-" The Laestrygonians yell, continuing to throw large boulders at the crew. "Captain! Captain!" Odysseus' fleet yells as loudly as they can, crying out for help. Odysseus notices he's close to another ship, and tries to offer his help. Before he can give any advice or give any orders, though, he sees Poseidon stab his trident straight through the ship, lifting it up as the corpses of all its crew fall off its tips, landing in the water, one of them staring up at Odysseus, a hopeful yet terrified expression on the soldier's face, having clearly seen Odysseus right before they were killed, hoping their captain would help them.
Before Odysseus can even begin to feel grief for the soldier who he sees dead in the water, the Laestrygonians once more speak, continuing to destroy ships as they throw boulders towards Odysseus' fleet. "Ruthlessness is mercy upon our-" They say, being interrupted by the loud yells of Odysseus' crew. "Captain! Captain!" They scream, as Odysseus is forced to watch a giant tsunami appear as Poseidon slashes his trident through the water roughly, the power of the sea rising up with horrifying speed. The Laestrygonians speak for a final time. "Ruthlessness is-" They say, a yell from the last remaining ship besides Odysseus' coming out. "Captai-" But alas, before the final ship can call for the help of their captain, the tsunami that Poseidon had summoned crashes down upon it, destroying the ship. Suddenly, everything calms once more, as Odysseus stares at Poseidon in horror and fear. "What have you done?" He quietly asks. The ethereal voices return once again, still unable to be heard by Odysseus. "When does a ripple become a tidal wave?" They quietly say, Poseidon sternly staring at Odysseus. "43 men left under your command." He says, not moving at all. "When does a man become a monster?" The ethereal voices say, as Poseidon repeats Odysseus' own words to the cyclops towards Odysseus himself. "I am your darkest moment... The monster that always draws near. Any last words?" Poseidon asks, raising his trident once more, ready to strike Odysseus down. Odysseus, noticing this lull in the storm, suddenly smirks, grabbing the wind bag. "All I gotta do is open this bag!" He confidently says, pulling out his sword and slicing the wind bag open. "What?!" Poseidon yells out, confused and angered, trying to grab Odysseus, but Odysseus' ship is moving so fast he has no chance, completely missing them as Odysseus points the torn bag at the sail, before he loses control of it, and the ship begins to fly, moving far from Laestrygonia and Poseidon. After what seems like mere moments, the ship crashes down near a mysterious island, landing in the water. Luckily, Poseidon is nowhere in sight, but through the fog of the island, two words can be heard, quietly spoken by Poseidon, almost as though they're a warning. "Remember me..." He says. Odysseus and his crew, exhausted, begin to row towards the island they landed near, hoping they'll be able to rest there.
