As soon as he regains his balance, Odysseus walks forward and sees what caused the ship to stop. It's a small collection of rocks, but the ship is nowhere near them. Upon the rocks stands a spirit, and it looks exactly the way Circe had described Tiresias. Odysseus approaches the spirit, but Tiresias seems to disappear, only to suddenly be right in front of Odysseus, the glassy eyes of Tiresias seeming to see through Odysseus completely. The spirit begins to speak. "I am the prophet with the answers you seek... Time... I've unlocked it... I see past and future running free..." Tiresias states, not moving at all as he continues to stare through Odysseus. "There is a world where I help you get home... but that's not a world I know." He states, turning away from Odysseus. Odysseus, shocked by this, can merely utter a single word of confusion. "What?" He asks, unsure what Tiresias means by this. Suddenly, Tiresias speaks again. "I see a song of past romance." He says, and it's almost as if Odysseus' past is thrown in front of him, with Tiresias' open hands holding something between them. Odysseus looks at it, and sees that it's a memory of when he first met Penelope, and how he'd first started to court her. The vision between Tiresias' hands shifts as he speaks again. "I see the sacrifice of man." He states, the vision now showing a hazy look into the future, where Odysseus is handing torches to some of his crew. Tiresias continues to speak, the visions of the future still hazy. "I see portrayals of betrayal and a brother's final stand." Tiresias says, the vision shifting yet again to show Eurylochus stabbing something. The vision shifts yet again as Tiresias continues to speak. "I see you on the brink of death. I see you draw your final breath." He says, the vision showing Odysseus underwater, struggling to make it to the surface. Tiresias keeps talking. "I see a man who gets to make it home alive... But it's no longer you..." Tiresias says, turning away from Odysseus once more.
Odysseus, angered by this, tries to grab Tiresias, but his hand goes through the spirit as he talks. "This can't be. We've suffered and sailed through the toughest of hells. Now you tell me our effort's for nothing?!" Odysseus shouts. Tiresias turns back to face Odysseus, his face blank, showing no emotion as he speaks once more. "I see your palace covered in red... faces of men who had long believed you're dead... I see your wife with a man who is haunting... A man... with a trail... of bodies..." Tiresias states, as the vision between his hands shifts to show a man in a cloak standing in Odysseus' home next to Penelope, the cloak and much of the palace covered in blood. Odysseus, even more angered by the sight of this, yells a question. "Who?!" Odysseus furiously asks. Tiresias simply moves away from Odysseus and begins to repeat his words from earlier, the visions between his hand shifting with every sentence he speaks. "I see a song of past romance. I see the sacrifice of man. I see portrayals of betrayal and a brother's final stand. I see you on the brink of death." He states, and suddenly, more voices start to speak, almost as if accompanying Tiresias, but they're so muddled Odysseus can't understand them. "Siren song, Scylla throat!" They cry out, though Odysseus doesn't understand it. "I see you draw your final breath!" Tiresias continues, the voices once more joining him. "Mutiny, lightning bolt!" They state, though Odysseus still has no clue what they're saying. Tiresias ignores them and continues speaking to Odysseus. "I see a man who gets to make it home alive..." He says, the voices continuing to join him. "Hurt Poseidon, kill all the suitors for love!" The voices say, as Tiresias finishes his final words. "But it's no longer... you." He says, disappearing in a blaze of fire, the voices finally speaking loud enough for Odysseus to hear them, though their words just confuse him further. "Odysseus. Odysseus." They say, as Odysseus turns and walks back to his normal spot on the ship, sitting down, feeling exhausted.
