Accessing S.H.I.E.L.D. File: Kang Invasion
The following has been compiled from the key testimonies of the Avengers involved. Included is a video Tony Stark, AKA Iron Man, recorded via armor before the conflict. The video shows Tony Stark and Captain Steve Rogers, AKA Captain America when they first encountered Kang following a training session. Most of it is corrupted due to a hacking attempt on the armor.
Tony Stark: Well, I appreciate the lessons and the bruises, but the world has changed, Cap. Life moves faster now than ever, and it's only going to get faster still. I'm wired into a worldwide network of computers and satellites. The goal is to see danger before it gets here. I'm getting ready for the future and working to get humanity there in one piece. You're still used to the old ways of doing things.
Steve Rogers: They say those who forget history are doomed to repeat it. If the old ways include training and preparation, then maybe you need to slow down a bit.
Tony Stark: Uh, slow, uh, down? I hear you talking, but the words don't make sense.
Steve Rogers: It's always a good idea to know some basics. No matter what year it is, some things never change.
(A portal opens, emitting a bright light. Kang exits the portal on a hovering chair. The portal closes behind him and he stands up to address Rogers and Stark)
Kang: Greetings, Avengers. I am Kang. I have come from your future to deliver a message to Captain America.
(Kang opens a portal to pull out a blaster. Fight ensues)
End of Transmission
Before Invasion:
The Avengers and Kang fought in Avengers Mansion. Kang claimed that Captain Roger's presence in the modern era has disrupted the space-time continuum that destroyed his time. To prove his claim, he transported himself and the Avengers to an undefined point in time where Earth has been ravaged by a war between two factions: the Skrulls (See S.H.I.E.L.D. File: Secret Invasion) and the Kree. He announced his plan to conquer the modern era to advance technology and prepare the military for the coming war. As a courtesy, he gave the Avengers a choice. Hand over Captain Rogers, stay out of the way, or face his wrath.
Captain Rogers, feeling that Kang is correct, volunteered himself to be in Kang's custody. Stark, refused and enticed the others to attack Kang. Stark was able to get the parties involved back to the modern era by hacking Kang's Time Chair. According to Stark, it was built with some Stark Tech, meaning it could be usable by himself, the creator.
The Time Chair is currently in the custody of S.H.I.E.L.D. with its time-traveling capabilities are diminished. Stark theorized that Kang must have remotely disabled the chair to prevent it from being used against him. Based on protests of handing it over, it is suspected that the Avengers sabotaged it to 'prevent its misuse'.
The Kang Invasion:
A few moments after the Avengers returned, Kang initiated his invasion of Earth. His Armada Ships have been deployed to key cities around the world. The ships deployed robots classified as multi-purpose Scarab Fighters into the cities to weaken ground forces.
The Avengers have already been deployed to repel Kang's forces at New York. The first wave was revealed to exhaust Earth's defenses as explained by Kang. The armies of Kang revealed their ability to self-repair and commenced the second wave with heavy casualties. The Avengers and surviving S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel has gathered in Avengers Mansion. King T'Challa, AKA Black Panther, returned to Wakanda to defend it.
It is discovered that if the time drive has been tampered with, the Armada Ships will be sent back to the 41st century. Stark stayed at the mansion to look for Kang while the rest of the Avengers held off his forces by some time. They are assisted by Hank Pym, the former Ant-Man, robotic creation Ultron. This put the defenders of earth on equal terms with Kang's army and successfully repelled the attack on New York.
Meanwhile, Stark has located Kang on his ship, the Sword of Damocles, over North America in Earth's orbit. The Avengers and the remaining Ultron's mounted a counterattack on the flagship while the S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel remains to defend New York from future attacks. Upon approach, the Damocles initiated orbital bombardment that would've destroyed much of New York. Thor Odinson deflected the blast back to the Damocles, damaging the vessel. The effort has sent Thor into a coma and back to Earth. The Avengers are met with resistance from Kang's elite guard. After they have been subdued, the Avengers finally engaged Kang again. Iron Man had upgraded the Avengers technology to match against Kang's, allowing him to fight on equal ground while the last Ultron unit began hacking its time drive, returning his army to the 41st century.
Right before they could send It back to the future, it's discovered that Kang has a wife, Princess Ravonna. When his future was wiped out, she was in danger of being erased. Refusing the offer to save Ravonna on the condition of surrender, Kang has been taken into custody. Ravonna has been handed over to Reed Richards, AKA Mister Fantastic, to study her condition to find a cure.
This event will be recorded as the Kang Invasion, AKA the second battle for earth.
Aftermath:
Damage to the city is being repaired by Starks newly funded 'Damage Control'. This construction company will not only repair the collateral damage caused by extraterrestrial invasions and fights between superheroes and super-villains, but they will also operate as an archival unit for the government and secure any machinery and technology to hand over to any government recognized entities.
S.H.I.E.L.D. seized custody of Kang the Conquerors time flagship, the Sword of Damocles, and any 41st-century technology. A new division is in the process of being created the Sentient World Observation and Response Department (S.W.O.R.D). This subdivision will be dedicated to dealing with extraterrestrial threats to world security. The Damocles will serve as an orbital base. Henry Gyrich is nominated as Director of the new department with Agent Abigail Brand assigned to assist him.
While the Avengers fought on the Damocles, Avengers Mansion had been leveled by Kang's forces. The Avengers have relocated to Stark Tower, later renamed Avengers Tower. Indebted, the United Nations liberated from Kang's short rule have signed the Avengers Charter granting them the autonomy to operate as a peacekeeping organization under oversight of the World Security Council and S.H. .D. Seeing how few they are, the Avengers began recruiting more members.
PRIORITY ALERT!
Kang escaped the supermax cell he was confined in. He single handily assaulted the Sword of Damocles and vanished from Earth's orbit. A manhunt was already underway. Attached is the last transmission from the Damocles.

Sentient World Observation and Response Department
Abigail Brand: This is Director Brand calling for backup! The Sword of Damocles is under attack! I repeat the Damocles is under attack by Kang!
(Static)
Kang: I'm here for my time ship primitives. You can keep your pitiful lives. I have a more pressing matter to attend to.
Abigail Brand: (breathing heavily) and what might that be?
Kang: Saving the universe!
End of Transmission
S.H.I.E.L.D. remained on alert for any signs of the time-traveling warlord. Then one year later, the Avengers recovered eight alien teenagers (see Remnantian file) from the planet Remnant. Based on their testimony, Kang has conquered the planet and is now occupying it. The Remnantians are taken into S.H.I.E.L.D custody despite protests from former Director Henry Gyrich. Charge of custody has been moved to the Avengers after undergoing the S.H.I.E.L.D. training program.
In preparation for a repeat invasion from Kang the Conqueror, the World Security Council has authorized the reactivation of Phase 2.

As you can see, this is another file for more world-building. This is detailing the first Kang invasion before Kang gets word of the oncoming scourge of Grimm coming from Remnant.
Before we conclude, yes, I've seen the episodes of Marvel What If. I'm intrigued by the prospect of doing it in this fic and am open to ideas.
