The first rays of sunlight spilled into the temporary base, casting a warm glow across Ryder's sleeping form. The pups were already awake, keeping a quiet watch over their leader. Chase, ever the sentinel, paced near Ryder's bed, his sharp brown eyes scanning for any sign of discomfort.

Marshall sat close by, clutching his medic bag just in case. His baby-blue eyes flickered between Ryder's calm face and the medical equipment nearby. "Do you think he's okay?" Marshall whispered to Chase, his voice laced with worry.

Chase stopped pacing and glanced back. "The doctor said he's healing, but I'm not taking any chances. Ryder needs us more than ever."

Just then, Ryder stirred, a soft groan escaping his lips as he slowly opened his eyes. Immediately, the pups perked up, their ears swiveling forward.

"Ryder, are you okay?" Marshall asked, rushing to his side.

Ryder blinked, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. "Morning, pups. I'm fine. You don't have to worry so much."

"We do have to worry," Chase said firmly, stepping closer. "You've been through a lot, and we're not letting you push yourself."

Ryder sighed, a small smile tugging at his lips. "You pups are relentless."

Rocky entered the room with a tray holding a glass of water and a plate of toast. "It's not being relentless, Ryder. It's called looking out for you."

"Yeah, dude," Zuma chimed in from the corner. "You'd do the same for us. Now, take it easy, okay?"

Ryder chuckled softly, though the movement made him wince. "Okay, okay. I get it. You're all my personal bodyguards now."

"Exactly," Skye said with a playful grin. "We're not letting you out of our sight."

After breakfast, Ryder sat at the worktable with a stack of blank paper and a pencil. He moved slowly, his ribs still tender, but the excitement in his eyes was undeniable.

"What are you doing, Ryder?" Chase asked, watching him closely.

"Planning the new Lookout," Ryder replied, his tone steady. "We've got to rebuild, and I want to make sure it's better than before."

The pups gathered around as Ryder began sketching. He started with the familiar round design of the tower, but with several key upgrades.

"This section here," Ryder said, pointing to a cluster of smaller rooms connected to the main living space, "will be personal spaces for all of you. I want you to have your own areas where you can relax and unwind. And you'll all be close to me, so I know you're safe."

The pups' eyes lit up with excitement. "We get our own rooms?" Skye asked, her tail wagging furiously.

"Yep," Ryder said with a smile. "Each of you will have your own space, and we'll personalize them however you want."

"That's so cool!" Zuma exclaimed. "I want mine to have water stuff. Like… maybe a little pool!"

Rubble scratched his head. "Can I have a big bed and… oh! A snack station?"

Ryder laughed. "We'll see what we can do. The goal is to make sure everyone has a space where they feel comfortable."

Marshall tilted his head, his eyes shining. "You're doing all this for us?"

"Of course," Ryder said warmly. "You pups have done so much for me. This is my way of giving back."

Rocky's green eyes locked onto a rectangular area near the base of the sketch. "Is that… a garage?"

"Yep," Ryder said. "A new and improved garage. It'll be big enough to hold all of your vehicles, my ATV, and any other equipment we might need. Plus, we'll include a workshop for repairs and upgrades."

"That's awesome!" Marshall said, his tail wagging. "No more squeezing into tiny spaces."

"And it'll be safer, too," Chase added. "Harold won't be able to mess with anything."

Ryder nodded, adding more details to the sketch. "We'll also reinforce the walls, add hidden escape routes, and upgrade our security systems. Motion sensors, cameras, heat detectors—you name it."

Rocky perked up. "I can help with that. We'll make it so secure that no one can get close without us knowing."

Skye tilted her head thoughtfully. "And I can work on aerial surveillance. We'll always have eyes in the sky."

Zuma chimed in, "What about underwater access? Like a secret tunnel?"

Ryder paused, tapping his pencil against the table. "That's a great idea, Zuma. We'll include it in the plans."

Marshall watched Ryder carefully, his voice soft. "Just… promise you'll take breaks, okay? You're still healing."

Ryder placed a hand on Marshall's head, ruffling his fur gently. "I promise, Marshall. I'll take it slow."

Later that afternoon, a knock sounded at the door. Chase's ears perked up immediately, and he moved to answer it. "Hold on," he said cautiously, peeking through the window. When he saw Katie, his posture relaxed slightly.

"Katie," Chase greeted, stepping aside. "Come in."

Katie entered, holding a basket filled with baked goods and a thermos of tea. Her eyes immediately landed on Ryder, who was sitting at the table, his sketches spread out before him.

"Ryder!" Katie exclaimed, hurrying over. "Are you okay? I heard about everything."

Ryder looked up, a warm smile spreading across his face. "Hey, Katie. I'm okay—just a few broken ribs and some rest orders."

Katie set the basket down and leaned in to hug Ryder, but paused. "Wait, is it okay if I—"

Ryder chuckled. "It's fine, Katie. Just be gentle."

She hugged him carefully, pulling back quickly when she felt him flinch. "I'm sorry! Did I hurt you?"

"No," Ryder reassured her. "I'm just a little sore."

Marshall cleared his throat loudly. "Ryder's supposed to be resting. We've been keeping an eye on him."

Katie smiled warmly at Marshall. "I can see that. You pups are doing an amazing job."

"Too amazing," Ryder teased. "They're treating me like I'm made of glass."

Katie giggled, sitting down beside him. "Well, after everything you've been through, it makes sense. You've got the best team in the world."

"They are the best," Ryder agreed, his eyes softening as he looked at the pups. "I couldn't do this without them."

Katie glanced at the sketches on the table. "Are these plans for the new Lookout?"

"Yeah," Ryder said, holding one up. "What do you think?"

Katie's eyes widened as she scanned the designs. "Wow, Ryder. This is incredible. You're already planning to rebuild?"

"We don't have a choice," Ryder said. "The Lookout wasn't just a building—it was home. And I'm going to make sure it's better and safer than ever."

Katie nodded. "I don't doubt that for a second. Just… promise me you'll take care of yourself, too."

Ryder smiled. "I will."

As the sun began to set, Katie said her goodbyes, leaving Ryder and the pups to wind down for the evening. The table was littered with sketches and notes, each one a piece of their shared vision for the future.

Chase sat close to Ryder, his voice steady but concerned. "You did a lot today, Ryder. Maybe too much."

"I'm fine, Chase," Ryder replied. "And I'm proud of all of you. We've got big plans, and together, we'll make them a reality."

Marshall tilted his head, his eyes soft. "You're sure you're okay?"

"I promise," Ryder said, smiling at the team around him. "With all of you by my side, I know we'll make the Lookout better than ever."

As the pups wagged their tails, Ryder felt a wave of gratitude wash over him. Despite everything, they were still a family—and together, they could handle anything.
