Tim Bradford stared down at his wife as she looked up at him with awe. The only thing that could make their life any more perfect were if they were to be expecting their first baby. While both had decided they wanted to wait until they had been married for at least year, Tim couldn't wait to see Lucy's stomach swelled with his progeny.

Tim couldn't stop himself from lowering himself down to capture her lips with his. The warm feeling he received whenever their bodies touched sent addicting currents, he was sure he would never get over, through his entire body. When she pulled away from him she had a pink tinge to her cheeks.

"Tim, we're going to be late for work," she chastised him. Though, he could tell there was no real merit to her words. She was as addicted to him as he was to her.

"I didn't hear you complaining last night," he stated smugly.

"I meant it as 'oh God when is this going to be over'," she butted back. Tim quickly flipped their bodies around so that his ass was sitting on her pelvis. He took her arms and pinned them above her head. "Tim," she giggled.

"I just want the record to show that you are the one who jumped my bones last night." He leaned down to suck on the most sensitive part of her neck. She arched her back giving him easier access.

"Tim, we're are going to be late for work," her words coming out rushed and breathy. He pulled back from his assault on her neck to stare down at her. "Screw it," she stated. Just as she was about to raise her head so that her lips could touch his he hopped off of her.

"Lucy, we can't. We will be late for work." She stared at him dumb founded.

"We could call off, stay in this bed all day," she offered letting her hands roam over their soft silky sheets. She got on all fours, and crawled over to his side of their king bed, and then stood on her knees. Her naked form calling him to do as she requested.

"Lucy," he warned. She just gave him the most innocent expression she could muster. He felt his resolve slowly start to fade and before he knew it his body started to automatically attach itself to hers. Once their lips broke apart she bit her bottom lip.

"Tim, I have a special surprise for you, but I need you to close your eyes. Wait right where you are." He felt her body shift away from his. "No peeking." He stayed standing beside the bed until he heard the click of their bathroom door, the switch of the lock, and the shower being turned on. He looked down at his friend standing at attention and shook his head.

"Well buddy, I guess we have a cold shower a head of us."

During lunch Tim made it a point to find his wife. Working in metro let them stay in the same building, but it didn't allow them much time together. Work wasn't social hour, but never the less it was hard knowing she put her life on the line day in and day out without him by her side.

"Lucy, still patrolling?" Tim asked Wade.

"She caught a domestic. Should be returning within the next few minutes," Grey stated. "By the way Lucy showed up late to roll call this morning. I'm blaming you."

Tim acted surprised, "Me? Have you ever heard innocent until proven guilty."

"Oh, I saw the evidence. She wasn't very pleased when I pointed it out on her neck. In case you couldn't guess you are in trouble." Tim shrugged.

"It was worth it."

"She's late again Bradford I'm going to put her on patrol with Smitty."

Tim was about to respond to Wade's threat when he saw Lucy enter the bull pen. "You're lucky," Tim stated before exiting Grey's office. He just heard his friend let out a chuckle as he made his way over to the black haired beauty he had been waiting for.

"Hey Luce," he stated happily as he made his way up to her. Instantly an annoyed expression crossed her features.

"Do not 'hey Luce', me." she stated in a less than amused tone. "Before you play dumb let me stop you and tell you, you know what you did." Though her words were filled with venom the little upturn of her lips gave her away.

"I'm sorry?" He questioned. She stared him down. "Okay, I'm not really sorry."

"Your lucky Grey told me so I could cover it up before anyone saw."

"To be fair I was just about ready to give into your request to stay in bed all day." Lucy shook her head unable to keep the smile off of her lips. "Are you ready for lunch?" He asked.

Lucy nodded, "Yeah, Aaron and I already processed our domestic we brought in. I should have a half hour to spare." Tim took the opportunity to grab his wife's hand and take her out to the food trucks.

"You sit. Do you want your usual?" Lucy nodded and grabbed their usual table. While they didn't always have time to eat together they appreciated the times they did. "You know, I should have been the one mad at you after the stunt you pulled this morning," Tim said as he returned to the table with their food.

Lucy stared at him incredulously, "And why is that?"

"You left me hanging, literally."

"You're the one who started it." Lucy took one of Tim's fries and popped it in her mouth.

"Lucy, your fries are right there."

"There is something about them being yours that makes them taste better." Tim smiled and shook his head as she took another fry off of his tray. He didn't fight it though. He would help her get away with murder if it meant making her happy.

Tim sat in his office, trying to finish paperwork, when he heard a knock on the door. If he went based on the time it was probably Lucy. They rode together on the days they worked the same, and quitting time was half an hour ago for her. She was probably getting hungry and felt ready to leave.

"Luce, why are you knocking. It isn't locked." Tim stood up and went to the door to not find Lucy, but his friend Angela. He stared at the worried expression on her face and instantly knew something was wrong.

"Angela, where is she?" There was only one person his friend would show up at his door looking like that for. He turned away from his best friend and grabbed his coat and his keys.

"Tim, you shouldn't be driving. I'll take you to her."

"What- what happened? Is she going to be okay?"

"All I know is that she is in surgery."

Once they arrived at the hospital Tim hopped out of the car before it was fully stopped. He ran to the front desk and asked for Lucy.

"I'm sorry, sir. Your wife is in surgery. I don't know anymore than that. I will let them know you are here so they can give you an update whenever they are able."

"Tim," he heard a familiar voice say. He turned his attention to the voice to see a lot of their coworkers and closest friends. Tim felt the tears welling up in his eyes. He wasn't one to cry, but the thought of losing Lucy put him in a choke hold.

"What happened?" He asked. His red rimmed eyes scanning the sadness turning toward anger. He looked around to see Aaron Thorsen no where to be found. He knew Lucy wasn't safe with anyone else by her side. Thorsen was still new, still a rookie in Tim's eyes, Tim likes him before he failed his wife.

"Where is Thorsen?"

"He, uh, he didn't make it."

"What?" Tim choked on the word. It becoming evident just how serious the situation was.

"They were chasing down a suspect. Aaron was shot in the leg, nicked his femoral artery. He was bleeding out fast. She tried to help him," Grey stated.

"That doesn't explain why Lucy is in surgery." Tim looked at his peer. The concern in his eyes.

"While applying pressure to his wound, just as she was about to radio for help, a car sped right at her. She didn't have time to get herself let alone Thorsen out of the cars path. We are certain it was the same suspect they were chasing down that hit them."

"It's bad isn't it," Tim stated more than asked. His lips began to quiver and Grey took him into his arms. The entire waiting room of cops began to become over run with emotion. Bradford was a rock, never showed emotion, but the one person who could be his strength was in an operating room fighting for her life.

Tim had gone from pacing the room, to asking for an update on his wife every five seconds, to sitting in one of the most uncomfortable hospital chairs resigning himself to staring into space. Everyone watched him, treated him as if he were made of glass, like somehow he was going to break any second. He couldn't deny that they could very well be right. He needed her. She was the air he breathed. Without her his lungs felt constricted.

"Family of Lucy Bradford," Tim stood up immediately and ran over to the medical professional calling his wife's name.
"I am going to take you to a room where the surgeon will speak with you." Tim nodded the emotion building up feeling like an object stuck in his throat.

He sat there for what felt like hours, but was actually just minutes. When he heard the opening of the door he immediately stood up and looked to the doctor.

"Hello, you must be Timothy Bradford, Lucy's husband." Tim nodded. "I'm Doctor Winters I preformed surgery on your wife."

"How is she?" He forced out.

"Surgery went well. She has a fractured skull and was taken in for surgery for a brain bleed. We were able to stop the bleeding in her brain and remove a large clot. There was some swelling but not enough to have to remove a part of her skull. Right now we are just going to have to monitor her closely. She isn't out of the woods yet," Tim nodded and wiped away a tear he let fall. "The brain damage was the worse of the damage. She has a broken collarbone, but everything else is minor. Road rash and some scrapes and bruises."

"When can I see her?" He asked. He felt desperate to see her with his own eyes. She wasn't out of the woods, but something told him she would pull through.

"Soon. Once she is set up in her room in the ICU." Tim muttered a 'thanks' before following the surgeons instructions to go back out to the waiting room until someone grabs him.

He wasn't surprised to see that none of their friends had left.

"How is she?" Angela asked. She had never seen Tim so broken in his life. Not even when Isobel was going through drug addiction and he had put his life on hold trying to help her.

"Most of the trauma is to her head. She isn't out of the woods yet, but she made it through surgery. She has a," he paused feeling the emotion build up. "She has a," he tried again. He looked at his best friend, tears in his eyes, "She wanted to stay in bed all day today, Angela. She wanted to skip out on work, and I refused her that." He dropped to his knees and lowered his face into his hands. His body taken over by an emotion Angela never thought she would see her best friend go through. For the first time ever Angela watched her friend Timothy Bradford break.

"Timothy. You stop. This is not your fault. You and I both know that Lucy wouldn't want you to blame yourself for one minute." She gathered her friend in her arms and just sat there with him. "You and I both know she was never serious about staying shacked up with you all day. She loves her job, she loves helping people, and making a difference." She rocked him back and fourth allowing her friend to feel everything he needed to feel.
