Crazy trouble with love part 10

Corey and Mina

Series: Grojband

Corey was pacing back and forth in his garage, tapping his chin over and over as his buds watched with boredom.

"Corey? You've been pacing for a long time."

"Yeah, you're actually making a hole."

"Hold on guys! I need complete silence if I'm gonna come up with our next big gig." he replied, the camera showing him he was knee deep in a trench before he resumed pacing.

Kon gave a tired yawn as he stuck one of his drumsticks into his ear; the sight of which gave Corey…..nothing.

"Dang it! Guys, I hate to say it, but I think we might have to take a week off." Corey sighed in annoyance.

"Works for me. I feel like we're due for a break." chimed in Kin with Laney nodding.

"Yeah, let's do something that doesn't involve trying to get Trina to make us lyrics for once." Laney chuckled as she packed up her bass and headed for home with the Kojira twins following.

"And Corey? Please, for the love of Todd, do NOT stress out over this." Kin piped up.

"Aw relax guys, I won't stress." he reassured with a hand wave as the garage door closed. He walked over and layed on the couch with a content sigh. "A little rest and relaxation might be what I need to get the 'ol inspiration juices flowing. Yeah, I'll probably have some killer lyrics come up in no time."

*french narrator: 4 seconds later*

Corey was huddled in the corner of his garage, surrounded by discarded papers. "Gotta think of something….ANYTHING!" Corey exclaimed as he started to scribble on the walls.

Meanwhile elsewhere in the Riffin household, poor Mina Beff was carrying multiple trays of soup of the stairs due to Trina suffering from a bad cold. She grunted and had to manage her balance, keeping the bowls from swaying to the sides, carefully taking the steps one by one.

"Mina! Hurry *cough cough* it up!" came Trina's stuffy sounding voice.

"Coming Trina!...it's…pretty hard going all over town for ... .twelve kinds of soup to cure a cold!" Mina stammered trying to make her way up the stairs.

"Just hurry!"

Mina grunted, eyes wide when the top started to sway. She carefully sped up her steps and adjusted her hold, causing the trays to even out before she sighed in relief and made it to Trina's bedroom door, lightly opening it with her foot. "I've got the soup Trina."

"...did you get Sniff the lentil beef minestrone soup as well?' Trina asked, crossing her arms, laying in her bed with a red nose and tissues littering around her.

"...uh oh…." Mina spoke as she realized that was the one soup she DIDN'T get for her. "Uh….well….funny story." she gave a nervous smile, making Trina narrow her eyes. "See, there was this big line, and I-"

"I DON'T CARE! JUST GO BACK And ... .and…and….ACHOOO!...sniff….GET ME MY SOUP!" Trina yelled as Mina was toppled over by the force of her yelling.

"...yes Trina." Mina sighed tiredly. She got up and wiped off some of the soup that got on her and moved to leave.

"Wait!" Trina spoke up before blowing her nose. "Don't forget the crackers either."

"Yes Trina." Mina said again as she closed the door and walked down the stairs. "Don't forget the crackers this time too!" Mina mocked from under her voice. 'I miss the days when she was an actual friend towards me.' Mina sighed, depressed that the girl she once called her best friend was now gone

Corey smiled, eye twitching as he backed up and looked at the jumbled mess of scribbles he wrote on several sheets of paper. "Perfect! These lyrics are gonna put Grojband to the top!" Corey exclaimed…before reading the paper and crumbling the paper and tossing it behind him onto a huge pile. "Ugh! This isn't going to work!" he exclaimed as he placed his face on his desk. "...It's hopeless, I'm never gonna come up with good lyrics."

He heard the sound of the door upstairs open and groaned. 'Great, Trina got out of bed and is gonna get on my butt.'

"Uh, Corey? What's…going on?"

He lifted his head and saw it was Mina. "Oh hey Mina…Trina got you on another soup run?"

She looked away and tapped her fingers together. "Yeah….I had to step away for a little bit to get some space, but if you're busy I'll go hide in the attic. Where's the rest of your band at?"

"They went home, we're kind of taking a break from the music until I can whip up some awesome lyrics, on my own, because I can DEFINITELY do that." he reaffirmed with confidence.

"Uhhh, are you sure about that? 'Cause according to Trina you suck at making lyrics." Mina said

"What?! Me, suck at making lyrics? Psst, what does she know?" he dismissed with a hand wave while putting his fists on his hips. "I could make lyrics in my sleep, it's so easy."

"Well what have you got so far?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Uhhhhh…nothing." he sighed in annoyance.

"Guess it's one of those days I guess." Mina sat down on the couch with her hands on her lap. "A rough day dealing with Trina,"

"And an even rougher one coming up with rockin' lyrics." Corey joined her, both letting out deep sights of exhaustion as they stared at the floor.

Both of them sat there in silence, letting the awkward situation and their moods settle with Mina leaning back on the seat.

"And here I thought maybe me and Trina could go to the carnival after she was feeling better. She'd probably get mad again and say how lame it is."

"Carnival?...oh yeah, the Peaceville summer carnival! I completely forgot about that." Corey tossed in his two cents before he felt something in his head click. He sat up with a lightbulb appearing over his head, dim and shaking before it started to light up bright. "The carnival! That's it!"

"Really?" she watched as he stood up. "Wait, what's it?"

"It's so simple! I can't believe it didn't click!" he jumped off and started to pace. "There's loads of awesome stuff to do at the carnival. Great junk food to rot your teeth, awesome rides to give you a rush of energy, it's chock full of stuff that'll give me all kinds of ideas for lyrics!"

"Oh…well that's cool, I guess?" Mina spoke with a shrug. "I'm sure you'll have fun."

"You mean WE'LL have fun." he corrected with a smirk, confusing her. "No sense going to a carnival by yourself, that's lame. That's why the two of us are gonna go and have a blast." Corey asked as Mina gave a sigh and a shrug.

"You know what? Sure, I could use a break from little Miss Snotsolong up there." Mina said

"Hahahaha! Good one!" he praised before grabbing her hand and yanking her from the couch and out the open garage door in the blink of an eye.

"Woah!"

*WICKED COOL TRANSITION!*

Corey and Mina had made it to the Carnival and were in awe at the sheer scope of the place.

"Wow, looks like they really made the place bigger this year, huh?" Corey chuckled

"That's putting it mildly." Mina remarked, the entryway alone looked twice as big with so many games and rides that you couldn't see where they ended. "Um, but what should we do first?"

"Hmmmmm, well why don't we try the knockdown bottles?" Corey suggested.

"Sounds good to me." Mina said as they went over to the booth to play the game.

"Step right up kiddos and knock down all the bottles." The man gestured to the stack of bottles that looked like they were in a pyramid, but upside down. Do so and win a grand prize."

"Ooooh, I'm good at these games!" Corey said, slapping a dollar onto the counter top as the guy gave him a ball.

"One ball, one chance, let it fly kiddo."

"Check it out and be amazed as I nail those bottles without even looking." Corey boasted, turning his back to the bottles before spinning his arm up and chucked the ball behind him ... .which proceeded to miss the bottles entirely and hit part of the tents frame, bouncing right back and hitting him in the head. "OW!"

"Wow, I'm so amazed!" Mina giggled.

"Okay then Mina, why don't you try?" Corey suggested. with his arms crossed in indignation.

"Sure." she put a dollar down before getting handed a ball.

"One ball, one chance."

"Careful Mina, it's not as easy as it looks." Corey said as Mina took aim and threw the ball knocking down the pyramid with ease.

"I think it's easier when you're looking." she joked before the man handed her a huge plush teddy bear.

"Alright…but…I bet I can beat you in the balloon race!" Corey challenged.

"Oh yeah? Bring it."

They headed over to the next game booth and paid for their game. When they were all set, they took aim with the pistols and started to spray against the targets.

"Come on, come on!" Mina said as she pressed the button harder.

"You're good, but I'm better." Corey grinned as he kept his focus on the target without flinching. The balloon was filling up a bit faster than Mina's. In no time flat his balloon popped right before Mina's did a second later. "Yes!" Corey said as he noticed the popped balloon had gotten water all over Mina.

Mina looked annoyed, but seeing Corey looking at her, and then looking down at herself made her start snickering before she started laughing, Corey smiling and joining her. "At least I won't need a bath later." she joked.

Corey gave a chuckle, but paused when he saw Mina take off her glasses and flip her hair in order to dry it. His mouth dropped open as his eyes lit up in awe at how her hair seemed to flow so naturally with her exposed face looking completely different without the large glasses in the way. She definitely looked like her sister now, but WAY more breathtaking and hot.

"...oh wow." Corey muttered as he felt his cheeks heat up as unbeknownst to him his normal brown eyes briefly flash green.

Mina wiped the water off her glasses before putting them back on, noting Corey staring before he snapped out of it and rubbed his eyes.

"Ready for the next game?"

"Huh? Oh sure!" Mina smiled happily as Corey grabbed her hand and pulled her towards the ring toss. "You want me to go first this time?"

"No need, I'm a wiz at this one." Corey said, twirling the ring around his finger.

"You sure?" Mina asked with a chuckle as she picked up a ring and casually tossed it around a bottle.

"Oh now it's on!" Corey chuckled.

Both of them started to chuck ring after ring out at the bottles, trying to land the most rings before they ran out.

"Dang it! I lost again." Corey grumbled as Mina was given another stuffed animal.

"Don't worry Corey, you'll get the next one." she giggled

He looked around with concentration before perking up when he saw a whack-a-mole game. "Something tells me you're right." He said as they went over to whack-a-mole and grabbed their mallets. "Alright Mina, first to ten wins!" Corey challenged.

"Deal." she smirked before they both grabbed the hammers and narrowed their eyes. As soon as Corey popped a coin in and the moles came up, both of them were off and started whacking away.

"Come on, come on!" Mina said as she kept whacking as fast as she could.

"Al…most there!" Corey said as he noticed his and Mina's points were both at eight. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, digging deep down inside himself, and tapped into his inner rhythm to give him a boost. Recalling some of their past gigs and their rocking toons started to make his adrenaline pump and speed up his strikes.

Mina's eyes widened at seeing Corey's arm seemingly blur before his points shot up to ten before she realized it.

*DING DING DING!*

"Yes!" Corey shouted as he was rewarded with a stuffed animal (One that resembled Bigfoot from Total Drama).

"Congrats Corey!" Mina smiled as she heard and felt her stomach growling. "You getting hungry?"

Corey opened to answer, but his stomach growled out louder than Mina's, making her chuckle with him giving an embarrassed smile. "Yeah, I could eat."

"I'll pay." Mina said as Corey held up his hand.

"Oh no, I'm the gentleman here so I'll pay!" corey holding up his wallet making Mina blush.

"Really, I don't mind. I always pay for Trina so this isn't a problem." Mina spoke.

"Well Trina's not here, so someone can pay for you for once." he smiled. "And that someone is me."

Mina couldn't help but blush harder. "Well….okay then."

With that settled, they headed to one of the many fast food trucks stationed and got some corn dogs with Corey biting into his with a moan at the taste.

"Man, these corndogs are the best!" he exclaimed as Mina slowly bit into hers.

"Yeah…great." She spoke with a sigh as Corey raised an eyebrow.

"Something wrong Mina?"

"...I ... .I just wish Trina was here, she loved going to the carnaval." she admitted, looking down at the ground before taking a spot on a nearby bench. "Before she….changed, we used to have amazing times together. But now? Other than doing whatever she tells me to, I can't remember the last time we really acted like ... .friends." Mina spoke sadly as Corey patted her shoulder.

"Look Mina, I get it. You want Trina to go back to the way she was when she was somewhat nice and hated me ... .less then she does now…But no matter what, she's stuck like this." He told her. "I wish I could say she'll change, but in my eyes? Me and my buds have been through a lot, and a true friend is there and knows when you're there for them. Trina though? If she was a real friend, she would have stopped long ago and not treated you like some dog."

"...' Mina gave a sigh and then a smile. "Yeah, maybe you're right. I guess I should just accept that Katrina isn't coming back no matter how much I want her to." she said as they looked up and saw the sun was setting and a firework being launched and exploded.

"Hey, the fireworks are going off!" Corey exclaimed.

Both of them watched as numerous bright colors and shapes formed in the sky, everyone in awe and wonder.

"Whoa." Mina said in awe as she unknowingly took a step closer to Corey and held his hand.

Corey perked up, turning his head and seeing their hands touching. His face got warmer with his mouth going dry. He turned away and cleared his throat. "H-Hey! I got an idea. Why don't we go for a ride on the roller coaster?"

"Are you sure about that? We just ate."

"Aw relax. I'm sure one corndog won't make much of a difference." he waved off before finishing off his corndog and let out a belch before pulling her along. "Besides, I've got the toughest stomach in town."

(15 minutes later)

Mina was seen patting Corey's back and he puked in a nearby trashcan, his stomach having turned inside out due to the rollercoaster ride.

"Strongest stomach, huh?" Mina chuckled.

Corey panted, lifting his head up with a groan. "Ok…so maybe ... .having an extra big bowl ... .of chili ... .and nachos ... .and bean dip wasn't a good idea…..for lunch before we came here, but it was soooo go-BLEH!" he let out more of his stomach with Mina flinching, but didn't move away.

"You want me to get you some water?"

"Yes please," he groaned.

After getting some water, they went ahead to sit back down to give Corey's stomach a chance to calm down.

"It's getting Late Corey, we should head home" Mina said, noticing everyone in the area were starting to close up shop.

"Yeah that's a good idea, today was pretty great huh?' he smiled.

"Yeah, it has." she smiled back. "Honestly? Not helping Trina do something to mess with you guys is a HUGE breath of fresh air. I swear if I didn't have some hope she could change I would have stopped, but…well you already heard me earlier."

"Yeah, I did."

Mina opened her phone and saw she had 5000 plus angry messages from Trina as well as a message from her sister. "Huh, what does Carrie want?" she muttered as she read the message. 'Mina, mom and I are going to see Grandma, we'll be back this weekend, love sis' it read. "Wow, guess I've got the house all to myself."

"Need a roommate?" Corey offered, making her blush.

"Wait what!?"

"Yeah why not? My buds are gonna be busy for the week, plus I have nothing else to do. Besides this'll teach Trina to do something for once in her life." Corey chuckled.

Mina's cheeks turned more pink as her mind tried to take in the offer. Her and Corey, all alone in her house, without her family around?

"Well Mina, what do you say?' Corey smiled as Mina felt her heart race. She wanted to say no, but for some reason she felt compelled to say yes, as if she wanted him to stay with her.

"I…well….I mean….if my parents and sister won't be around, it couldn't hurt." Mina spoke with a blush.

"Alright! Let me grab my toothbrush and sleeping bag!"

With that, the two of them headed back to Corey's place, with said boy noting how close Mina walked with him and glanced down at her hand close to his own.

'Her hand ... .it…feels soft.' Corey thought as he felt tempted to hold her hand again as he felt his heart race. His fingers twitched as he swallowed a lump in his throat. 'Maybe…just for a sec.'

Corey slowly reached over and carefully grabbed her hand; the feeling of which made Mina blush as her eyes like Corey's from before briefly flashed green.

"C-Corey?" she turned to him, their eyes meeting with the boy feeling himself start to sweat.

"S-Sorry! I just thought…you know it's…pretty cold out. Figured maybe I could…warm you up?" he tried to come up with the best excuse in mind with a bashful expression.

"...i ... .I don't mind us holding hands." she smiled while looking away with a blush on her cheeks. "It feels…nice."

Corey smiled and gripped Mina's hand as she laid her head on his shoulder, the two happily walked down the sidewalk to Mina's house.

*Beff household*

Mina led Corey upstairs into the Guest bedroom.

"Well, here you go Corey." Mina said. "It's a bit small, but it doesn't get much use so you won't need to worry about it being dirty."

"Thanks Mina ... .hey, wanna go ransack Carrie's room and read her diary?" Corey snickered as Mina gave a fake shock gasp and playful punched his shoulder.

"Corey Archibald Riffin!" Mina chuckled as she walked out the room.

Corey started to take off his clothes and put on his pajamas. After about fifteen minutes he had pulled the blanket back and sat up.

"Need some water." he grumbled as he opened the door and was shocked to see Mina standing there in front of the door about to knock wearing a see through nightgown.

"OH!...uhhhh Corey, hey…" she stammered with a blush.

"Mina?" he let out, eyes wide and mouth slightly open in surprise. "You….What…I mean!...hey."

Mina gulped as Corey blushed from seeing her thin figure beneath her nightgown.

"So….what's up?" Corey asked as Mina felt her heart race and her hands getting clammy as she knew it was now or never.

Mina gave a sigh and grabbed his shoulder before quickly kissing him on his cheek. "WELLGOODNIGHT!" Mina said as she quickly made her way down the hall with Corey's face now bright red.

"...I treat a gal to dinner and she gives me an after dinner mint." he said as Mina poked her head out from her room as her eyes were now glowing bright green and she had a smirk on her face.

"Well if you play your cards right Mr Riffin, maybe tomorrow you'll get dessert~" she spoke with a seductive wink as she closed her door, but as soon as she did that her eyes went back to normal and she collapsed on the ground screaming into the floor. "WHY THE FUCK DID I DO AND SAY THAT!?" Mina yelled at her rotten luck as she flailed her arms and legs in exasperation

Corey himself closed the door and touched the spot, feeling butterflies in his chest while feeling his lips curve up. "Man, I had no idea Mina was THAT hot!" he forgot about the water and zipped back into bed, having a hard time going back to sleep.

*NEXT TIME COREY'S GONNA PLOW MI-NA!*
