the forest was quiet, eerily quiet. the only sound to be heard was the sound of someones footsteps. Camilos footsteps.
"why are there no animals here?" he asked himself.
"this is really, really weird" the shapeshifter thought aloud.
he stopped when he felt his foot step on something not of nature.
Camilo looked down, only to see a folded up fan on the ground.
he picked it up, feeling a jolt of magic from it. the guard and ribs were a mysterious dark wooden material while the pleats were a pale gray, each section with a different symbol on it. the head was a small dark brown wooden ball with a strange symbol etched into it.
"what is this?" he asked himself as he pulled on the pleat with a hurricane symbol on it, only to find it easily came out with another taking its place.
"what the-" he muttered.
Camilo then tossed the pleat, only for it to turn into a shockwave of wind midair, almost blowing him off his feet.
"oh my god, its magic" he mumbled.
he then pulled on the pleat with a symbol of a fire on it.
triggering it caused him to collapse onto his knees in pain as it set his hand on fire.
he then quickly grabbed the pleat with a symbol of a splash of water and triggered it, splashing his burned hand in water.
Camilo sighed as he stood up, grabbing the fan.
"this feels like it'll be useful" Camilo muttered to himself before heading back to the casita.
when he got back to his room he sat down on a bench that shape-shifted into a sofa chair.
"what is this thing?" Camilo wondered aloud.
he stopped when he heard the door to his room open.
"kaki am I glad all of them are downstairs. I can explore Linina's creations for a bit!" someone said.
Camilo slowly stood up and peaked around the corner, letting out a small gasp when he saw the creature shutting his bedroom door. they were about Antonios height and were a golden color everywhere except their completely white eyes and inside of their mouth. instead of normal human shaped legs they had those of a deer. they wore no clothes and had the same butterfly markings of the candle on their chest, right where their heart would assumingly be.
"is someone in here?" the creature asked, having heard the gasp.
"hello? its okay, I won't blast you into oblivion!" the creature called out as they began coming closer to where Camilo was hiding.
he quickly found a better hiding spot behind a chest of drawers before replying.
"you know that doesn't really help!" he called back.
"Camilo? I thought you were with your family. most of them anyway" the creature replied as they peaked into his view.
"what do you mean most of them? and how do you know my name?" Camilo asked as he stood up.
"well, there's Bruno and his kids. also of course I know your name, I watched you grow up!" the creature replied with a smile.
"that sounds creepy. and since when did tio Bruno have kids? are you talking about his rats?" he questioned, holding up the fan to his chest.
"no. also, what are you holding?" the creature asked.
"tell me your name and I'll tell you what this is" he replied.
the creature bowed dramatically before replying.
"I am Mirissa, the gift-giving spirit. or as you know me as, the miracle. you can refer to me by 'she' or 'they'" the creature explained.
"the miracle!?" Camilo yelled.
"yep. I'm a living, breathing being! who also hates your filani" Mirissa explained.
"filani?" Camilo questioned.
"hey are you holding a fan?" she interrupted.
"uh, yeah. I found it in the woods. I somehow put my hand on fire with it and then put out the fire too" Camilo replied, holding out the fan.
she let out a small gasp as she snatched it out of his hand.
"a mortal shouldn't have this! this is my mom's relic! you said you found this in the woods!?" Mirissa cried out.
"uh yeah. what's a relic?" Camilo asked.
"a relic is basically an object spirits, like me, can summon. my brother has a trident, my sister has a spy glass. I have a taser that temporarily turns off gifts!" Mirissa explained.
"did you say you have a brother and sister?" Camilo questioned.
"yep! although I haven't seen my brother in a couple hundred years" Mirissa replied.
"a couple hundred!?" he exclaimed.
