There was something going on with Tony. Ever since she had arrived for their dinner date he had been preoccupied. Usually he would be talking her ear off but tonight he barely said two words to her. She didn't think it had anything to do with school. He was getting A's in all his classes. Maybe it had something to do with Sam, Jonathan, Mona, or Angela. Wait! Did it have something to do with Angela? When they were in the kitchen the day after Tony and her spent the night in the hotel Angela was nothing but gracious and had apologized for kicking them out the night before. Kathleen had waved off the apology and told her it was fine. In fact she had coyly told her it had turned out to be one of the best nights of her life. Angela had been intrigued and asked her what she meant but before she could say anymore they heard Tony come home. She looked around the living room recalling that fateful day.
FLASHBACK:
Kathleen rang the doorbell and waited for someone to answer. She couldn't believe how much her life had changed in the last twelve hours. The night had been one of the best she had ever spent with a man. The funny thing was she didn't like Tony all that much. Sure he was a good looking guy but that was it. Then they started talking and got to know each other and one thing led to another and well it caused a blush to overcome her face. The door was pulled open revealing a smiling Angela.
"Kathleen, please come on in!"
"Thank you." Kathleen entered the house.
"Would you care for a cup of coffee?"
""Yes, I would. Thank you."
"Okay, follow me."
Kathleen followed her into the kitchen and sat down.
"Cream or sugar?"
"Cream please."
Angela fixed their coffee and sat down beside her.
"Thanks." Kathleen smiled at her.
"You're welcome." Angela smiled back.
After a few minutes Angela sat her cup down and sighed.
"Is there something wrong?" Kathleen asked sincerely.
"Yes, Kathleen I owe you and the rest of your study group a big apology."
"What for?"
"For throwing you all out last night. I know how important exams are and I just, well I was only thinking of myself and my business."
Kathleen smiled. "Angela, I appreciate the apology but this is your home and we were being loud." She waved a hand in the air indicating that everything was fine.
"That's very noble of you but still I feel I have to make it up to all of you. That is why I invited all of you back. And I promise this time there will be no interruptions or distractions, The living room is all yours."
"Well Angela, that is very kind of you. But, if you want to know the truth I am glad you suggested we go to a hotel." She said coyly with a small smile on her face.
"Oh really? Why is that?"
Kathleen was about to tell her but then they heard Tony. Angela went into the living room and she followed a few moments later. Tony had looked surprised to see her but then Angela explained what was going on. Angela told Tony that he was too nice to say anything about last night but Tony insisted that he wasn't.
"Yes, you are." Angela said.
'Yeah, you are." Kathleen agreed, sending Tony a look. Jonathan had come down then telling them that Tony the hotel had called and that they had forgotten the slides and he would go and pick them up. For some reason Angela got very quiet and asked to speak to Tony in the kitchen.
And then everything changed. After they came back out Angela's attitude towards her cooled down. She was still polite to her but the warmth she had felt from her when they were in the kitchen talking was gone. It was like someone had flipped a switch.
END OF FLASHBACK
Ever since then she had felt uncomfortable around her. It was like Angela was mad at her for dating Tony. She couldn't understand why though. Tony was her employee and yes she knew that they were good friends but Angela acted like Kathleen had stolen Tony from her. Which didn't make any sense because Angela was dating some guy named Peter. A startling thought overcame her. When she had come over last week to pick him up for their date Tony had been acting very strangely. He referred to Peter as Angela's boy date instead of her boyfriend and he had referred to her as…wait he hadn't referred to her as anything. He had been about to but then he backtracked and said: "My, my look at the time!" Then Angela and him had walked out of the house slamming the door on Peter and her confusing the both of them. After a few moments they had come back both apologizing and then everyone went their separate ways. But something just wasn't right with Tony. and she was determined to find out just what that was.
#################################
Angela and Christopher walked into his hotel suite.
"Please make yourself at home."
Angela sat down on the couch and removed her heels. She rubbed her toes and moved her hands up to rub the bottoms.
Christopher laughed. "I don't know why you ladies wear those things. They look so uncomfortable. He sat down beside her. "But they do make your legs look awfully sexy." He winked at her.
Angela gave him the side eye. "Maybe that's why we wear them. Well, one of the reasons."
"Oh really? And what are some other reasons?"
"Well lets' see. They make you taller. They look good with your outfit. You feel grown up."
"Ah, those are very good reasons."
She smiled and he traced his finger over her face.
"I did tell you how beautiful you look, right?"
"Yes, but say it again." She looked into his eyes.
"Angela, you are very, very, very beautiful."
Before she could blink he leaned in and captured her lips with his. And oh boy could he kiss! He wasn't as good as Tony….wait! Why was she thinking of Tony? He was probably kissing Kathleen right now since they were all alone. A shiver ran through her. UGH! The thought of them kissing and having well that was enough to make her lose her dinner. She just hoped that Tony wasn't insensitive enough to do anything beyond kissing. They had agreed years ago that they would never bring one of their dates over to spend the night. But ever since Tony had decided to get involved with Kathleen she felt like she couldn't trust him anymore. And that is what hurt most of all.
Christopher pulled back.
"I have to tell you I am so glad we met. I'm not happy how we did of course but you have become very special to me."
Angela blushed. 'I feel the same."
This time she leaned in and kissed him. He pulled her close and ran his fingers up and down her back. He moved her hair out of the way and kissed her neck causing her to sigh deeply. She got up and straddled his lap and unbuttoned his shirt and kissed his chest, flicking a nipple with her tongue. He grabbed her by the hips and ground himself against her. She grinned and kissed him.
"What do you say we move this into your bedroom?"
"I say. I'm all yours."
"Good." She stood up and offered him her hand. He slipped his hand in hers and stood up and they went into the bedroom. A few hours later she was singing CLIMB EVERY MOUNTAIN.
Exhausted but extremely satisfied she fell asleep in his arms.
MEANWHILE BACK AT THE HOUSE
Tony came into the living room with two cups of coffee and a couple slices of raspberry coffee cake. He sat them down on the table and then sat down himself.
"Thanks." She picked her coffee up and took a sip.
"You're welcome."
They drank their coffee and ate their coffee cake all the while feeling the tension between them. Well she was. He on the other hand was still reeling over the idea of Angela going to Athens with Christopher. He knew that he hadn't been very attentive to Kathleen but he couldn't help it. Angela going out with Christopher was really bugging him. And if she went out of the country with him he didn't know how he would handle it that didn't involve him giving that jerk a bloody nose and a fat lip. Hey! Maybe that was the answer! Mona had said that he looked like a Greek God with smoldering eyes and a butt to match. So maybe he could rearrange his face so he didn't look so Godly anymore.
"TONY!" She waved her hand in front of his face.
'What?" I'm sorry Kathleen. Did you say something?"
Kathleen exhaled slowly and rolled her eyes. "Yes, Tony. I did. In fact I have been trying to talk to you all night. Something is going on. What is it?"
'Oh, yeah. I'm just preoccupied about something."
"Uh. Yeah. I know that! But what or should I say whom?"
Tony sighed. "Okay. it's Angela and this guy she has been seeing."
"Peter?"
"No, his name is Christopher and he asked her to go to Athens with him and I think she is going to accept."
Kathleen shrugged. "Okay, so what is wrong with that? She's a big girl and it does sound like a great opportunity."
"Because she barely knows him! This isn't like her! And when I suggested that she was moving too fast, do you know what she said to me?"
"I'm all ears!"
Tony was about to tell her but then realized if he told her everything well it wouldn't do either of them any good. So he gave her the shortened version.
'She said that if she decided to go to Athens I would just have to deal with it."
"Well it seems to me that she is probably going to go then. And there isn't anything you can do about it."
"No, there has to be something!"
"Tony, why do you care so much? I know the two of you are friends but you're acting like a jealous boyfriend!"
Tony shook his head. "No. it's not that. She is my best friend and I just don't trust this guy."
Kathleen gave him a long look. Okay, if Angela really was just his friend that meant he didn't have any romantic feelings for her. She decided to put him to the test.
"Well if you don't trust him I'm sure you have your reasons. Now how about if you and I have a little fun?"
"What do you mean?"
She climbed onto his lap and gave him a long kiss. She pulled back and traced her finger down his jaw.
'You. Me. Upstairs."
Tony gulped. "Uh, we can't"
"Of course we can. We are alone aren't we?"
"Uh, yeah but this is where I work and my daughter lives here and…."
"Okay. We can go back to my place."
Tony shoved her off him.
Kathleen glared at him and stood up.
'Well I guess that's a no then?!"
'I'm sorry. I'm just not in the mood."
"Fine! I'll see you later." He walked her to the door.
"I'm sorry. I'm just…."
"Not in the mood. Yeah, I get it. Good night Tony"
Before he could blink she opened and slammed the door.
He sighed and went over and picked their cups and plates up. He rinsed them and put them in the dishwasher and started it up. He locked the back door and went into the living room. He turned the tv on but couldn't find anything to watch so he turned it off. A little while later Sam and Jonathan came home and went up to bed. He stayed on the couch wondering where the hell Angela was and if or when she would be home.
THE NEXT MORNING
Angela awoke with someone tickling her neck with feathery kisses.
"MMMMM don't stop what you are doing."
"I won't." Christopher whispered.
She turned over and grabbed his head and brought it down to her lips and gave him a passionate kiss.
"Well good morning!"
"Good morning!"
"Did you sleep okay?"
"I slept very well. But, I should be going."
"Okay. Let's get dressed and I'll drive you home."
She gave him a peck on the lips and they got up and got dressed. He drove her back to her house and walked her to the door.
'Well, we definitely have to do this again sometime." She grinned.
"Oh we will. We absolutely will." He leaned down and gave her a long and lingering kiss that had her knees shaking.
"Have a good day Beautiful!" He winked at her and walked away whistling.
Angela giggled and opened the door. She closed it behind her and looked out the front window. She waved and he waved back and got into his car and drove away.
"Oh well it's so nice to see you remembered to come home!" She heard an angry voice behind her. She turned around and found Tony glaring at her.
"Good Morning Tony."
'Yeah, I'll just bet it is!" He snapped.
"Is there a problem?"
"You know there is! You spent the night with him!"
"And what if I did? HMMM? I'm a free agent and so is he."
'Angela! I don't believe this!"
"I don't give a damn if you do or not! All I know is that Christopher wanted me and I wanted him. And it felt good Tony! So damn good that a handsome, charming, and sexy man wanted to make love to me! Now if you'll excuse me I think a nice hot bubble bath is in order."
With those words she ascended the steps leaving him staring after her feeling like he had just been punched in the stomach.
