A ginger kitten walked along the top of a tall fence, a bluebird hoped on to the fence completely unaware of the kitten. Stalking his prey the kitten slowly crept up on the bird.
Suddenly a bell of a cats collar let of a loud ring! The bird look around and saw the kitten and took off for safety. The kitten angered that he last his meal looked around for the source of the bell.
" I'm sorry Rusty. i didn't mean to scare the bird away. My house folk just fed me, let me make it up to you." A plump black and white tom meowed
Rusty jumped down and rubbed his muzzle along the tom's side. " It's okay Smudge. I know you didn't nean to. Anyway have you seen Pine anywhere? He didn't finish his story yesterday." Rusty asked Smudge.
Pine was a old cat that said he came of a group of wild cats. Rusty father was friends with Pine so Rusty grow up listening to Pine tells of hjs time with this group. Rusty believe everyword of the stories but Sumdge always said that Pine was just a crazy old cat.
Smudge suddenly looked away for Rusty. " You haven't heard yet? Pine died last night." Smudge actually looked sad to Rusty's surprise. " I'm sorry Rusty, i know you was friends with him."
Rusty almost fell over, only Smudge quickly pressing against him kept him upright. I may not me a kit anymore but i loved hearing his stories. Rusty thought to himself. " He was going to tell me where his old group was." He mewed sadly
" Why do you want to know that?!" Smudge asked looking at him like he last his mind. " Pine was just a old crazy. Is because you're only 5 moons old that you believe every story he told you?"
Rusty wasn't surprised at Smudges questions. " I am young but my father believed Pine so i do to." He said c almly. " Smudge the reason i want to know is because i want to join his group."
Smudge still looked at Rusty like he was crazy and with a look of hurt in his eyes that the thought of his friend leaving. " I can tell that i can't change your mind, I known you your whole life to know better then to try. Be careful Rusty". he finally said after a what felt like hours.
" Thank you Smudge! I'll be careful, who knows they may turn me away!" Rusty purred. he jumped on the fence, took one last look at his friend and leaped into the forest.
Not really knowing which way to go he just went in a straight line. What if i don't find them?! He began thought with worry. It was starting to become dark so Rusty took a deep breath in to try to pick any prey. The smell of a mice hit his nose, but so did another cat!
Is it one of Pine's old group? Only one way to fine out. He thought. " I smell you, come out." He yowled. Rusty sat down and curled his tail around his body and began to wash his face. I'll wait as long as it takes!
Suddenly a cat jumped on him from behind shoving his face into the dirt. Claw pierce his skin as the cat held him down. Not knowing what to do Rusty went limp, only to explode up throwing the other cat off.
Rusty spun around to see his attacker. To his surprise it was a small black cat that didn't look no more the 4 moons old. " What are you in Thunderclan territory!?" The small one hissed. " Leave before I make you!"
Rusty couldn't st stop a purr from forming in his throat. " Whoa there little one, I'm looking for a group of cats." Rusty answered trying to sound like he wasn't a threat.
It seemed to worked the cat slowly sat down sheathing his claws. " I'm Rusty, what's your name?" Rusty asked. please be one of Pine's old group. He added to himself.
" I'm Ravenpaw. What group are you looking for?" Ravenpaw asked.
" I don't know then name of the group, just that my friend said to talk to Bluefur." Rusty answered.
Ravenpaw looked confused. " That sounds like a warrior's name. But i don't know any cat with hat name." Ravenpaw looked like he was deep in thought when he stiffen. " I smell other cats! Quick run." he hissed.
But before either of them could move two cats walk out from be hind a bush. A magnificent gray she-cat and a white tom. Ravenpaw crouched down and signaled for Rusty to do the same.
" You're looking for Bluefur, while you have found her kittypet. Now what is your business with oir leader?" Spoke the white tom
