Pamela looked at her sons, signaling them to stay, and walked a bit further to look, and saw a couple of police cars, "Yes, I see them coming, it's the police!".

The operator replied, "Don't hinder them when they go contain the scene, ma'am. It's becoming a crime scene under their jurisdiction now. Tell your wife to keep a close eye on the one breathing if the other one is officially dead, if there are any impending injuries.".

"Right.", Pamela nodded. "Harley, the operator says you need to stay back with the police. But do keep an eye on the other guy.", she said as Harley nodded, "I understand. Probably too late to do anything for that first driver, anyway...".

Harley went over to the other guy's car, sending the helping men of the moving van back, while staying back considerably yet keeping an eye on his breathing as the police went to contain the scene and began to ask questions.

Pamela and Harley went to explain their witnessing of the accident, and the police allowed Harley to keep an eye on the other guy, while some of the police went to confirm the first guy if it was too late to do anything and use the equipment to check with manipulation of the lungs to see that it's a drunk accident, as the ambulances arrived a few minutes later.

After that, the paramedics went to quickly work. Nothing could be done for the drunk driver; he was dead on impact, but they certainly were working on the other man as best as they could. "Do we have an ID on this one?", one of the paramedics said as they loaded him in.

"Couldn't unlock his phone as it is secured even if it's broken somewhat, but I got a wallet, got an ID on him. Says that he's Victor Fries-Gordon, lives in Gotham over in New Jersey...From the looks of his car, he was clearly heading back home from a vacation or something, and he's married too as he's wearing a ring...We better get him to the hospital quick.", the other paramedic replied.

"Probably should inform his contacts...", the first paramedic said as the finished getting him in. "What do you think, Red?", Harley asked as the wives were looking on from where they were standing. "You thinking like me and that maybe we should follow?".

Pamela glanced at the look of the sky and the time on her phone, and nodded, "Yeah, it's getting dark, and I'd not rather get lost, and our sons is probably full of shock and worry after seeing it happen. If there's an inn near the hospital, we will rest up.".

Harley replied, "Sounds good to me. I'll tell our movers of the plan...God, I really pray that man is going to be alright...What if he has a family wondering where he is?".

"That's why we're following.", Pamela said. "At the very least, he deserves to have someone stay with him at least until his family shows up... Thankfully, he won't be a John Doe... that's just terrifying to think about...".

Harley nodded, "Yeah...Let's go.", and so, Harley told the mover men in the moving van behind their car of their plans as Pamela went back to the car, and Jason, their slightly older son asked, "Where are we going, Mom?".

Jason and Tim, much to their surprise long ago when they met each other and each other's mothers, were born on the same day, but in different hospitals and cities, as Jason was born to Harley Quinn, while Tim was born to Pamela Isley, with donor fathers. Jason's father had the surname of Todd, while Tim's father had the surname of Drake.

"The hospital, we're going to stay with that man that got in the accident, at least until his family hopefully shows up.", Harley explained. "And if they don't?", Tim asked as neither woman wanted to really answer that if that sort of thing happened.

Jason replied, "Don't worry, bro, Mom and Mum got a really nice, safe car in this station wagon, we'll be fine on the way to the hospital, and rest up in the inn nearby as they usually have a hotel or inn near the hospital for folks who want to stay close and return for visitor hours.", lugging an arm around his brother's shoulders, as seeing that accident in front of them was admittedly scary for him and Tim.

"Yeah...Yeah, you're right. Let's go, Mom, Mum, let's go before we get really far behind.", Tim said with a nod, and Pamela replied, "You got it, boys.", starting up the car from its paused spot, and drove on to follow the ambulances.

It didn't take too long before they arrived, and the man was sent to the ER while the staff asked if the family was related to him. Obviously not, but they said they wished to stick around to see if he would be alright and if his family would soon arrive.

Some of the staff tried to figure out the man's phone by using emergency call to get in, but turns out it was damaged in the accident, but checking the ID and seeing Gotham, they linked an emergency call to the Gotham police.

In the meanwhile, James Gordon is reading some reports from his filled box, glancing at the time, wishing that his shift would be over, hoping to get a text from his daughter that Victor is home for dinner, and that James can come over after dinner to hang out and celebrate.

James knew that his daughter and daughter-in-law has quite missed their husband, and even with visits to distract them and little Jackson, even with video calls and such to Victor, it wasn't the same, and it'd be nice to see Victor and joke with him about the convention and all, to hear how his lecture class students did.

James then heard a knock, and he glanced up to see one of his finest officers, Renee Montaya who looked urgent, "Chief. I got a call from our neighbor precinct, and it's about your son-in-law. It's on Line 2, sir.".

They aren't allowed to use their personal phones for important calls between officers and such, as they use the landline and such to desk phones.

"What happened?", James felt a pit in his stomach as he quickly put things together. Why would a neighboring precinct need to contact him personally about Victor unless it was something serious?

"Said it was urgent and a personal matter, so I don't really know. They'd probably tell you.", Renee Montaya replied, her lips frowning with a shrug.

James nodded, "Thanks, Renee.", waving her off, and gestured to the door, and she nodded, closing it as James reached for the landline phone, on Line 2, picking it up, "This is Commissioner James Gordon speaking. I hear you are informing about my son-in-law, Victor?".

"Sir... I, I hate to be the one to break this to you but apparently, you were the closest that could be contacted at the moment... but I'm afraid that your son-in-law got involved in a terrible accident in Pennsylvania. He's in the ER right now.", the voice on the other end said.

James's heart pounded as he cursed, "Shit...How bad is it?", and the head of the staff responded, "It wasn't your son-in-law in the first place to cause the accident, apparently, the other driver was declared as drunk and became dead on impact of the accident, and he caused it. I can't lie, it's majorly bad, but good thing that he was wearing his seatbelt at least...It was a hit in the far side and a roll, so we can't be clear on his injuries yet, but he's breathing as far as we know of right now.".

"Jesus Christ...Where is he specifically in Pennsylvania?", James asked, horrified and cursing his luck as this is the second time he would give bad news to his daughter, and this time, it's Victor.

The staff head responded, "Lancaster General Hospital, sir, in the township of Eden. I saw that Victor, right?", and at James' confirmation, continued, "He is married. Will you and his family come in as soon as possible?".

James replied, "Yes. Do everything you can to save him in the ER, please.", and the staff head confirmed, "Yes, sir! We will ask the desk staff to keep an eye out for your arrival. Victor is in good hands, I promise.", before hanging up.

James thought quickly before grabbing his cell phone and called Thomas Wayne's number, hoping that a private plane or some VIP tickets on the fastest train over the bridge from Gotham into Pennsylvania would be swiped up.

He would never be grateful enough for his daughter's friendship with Poppy Wayne, and now it's practically family friends that James can count on. Thomas' voice responded, "Hey, James, what can I-", before James replied, "Sorry, no time to have small talk, Thomas, I got an emergency. Victor got into a nasty car accident over in Pennsylvania...Please tell me that you got your private plane on standby or at least some VIP tickets for a fast train.".

"I can get the plane ready quickly. Just give me the location and we'll find the nearest airport.", Thomas said as James was quickly getting his things ready. "How bad is it?".

"No idea, they said it's pretty bad, other than he's in the ER. Other driver got killed instantly, it seems.", James explained.

Thomas said, "Gotcha. You going to tell the girls?", and James exhaled heavily, "Yeah...In person, and I can get them to the plane. Victor's at Lancaster General Hospital, in Eden Township.".

"Alright. I and Poppy will join in, as I'm a doctor, and I can talk with the doctors there, to see if he can be transported sometime soon after any critical injuries has healed over a weekend or at least a whole week, and I'm sure Nora and Barbara would appreciate Poppy's support, and of course, to look over little Jackson for them.", Thomas replied.

"Alright, see you soon... hopefully, Victor will hang on long enough for us to reach him. After that... I have no idea...", James sighed as the call ended. God, what was he even going to say to his daughters about this?

James gathered his jacket, securing his stuff, and headed out to look at the police pen of officers, clearing his voice, "Ladies and gentlemen, I have a personal emergency with my son-in-law. I have to head to Pennsylvania with my daughters and grandson, and I do not know how long I'll be. So, your temporary commissioner will be Renee Montaya, and she will be in communication with the Guardians. Listen to her orders well, and I expect I will not be disappointed with any of you if you protect the city. Is that understood?!".

His people nodded, vocalizing as one, "Sir, yes, sir!", and James nodded, glancing at Renee, "Do not be afraid to ask for help. You got this.", and she gave a smile, "Thank you, sir. And I really pray that your son-in-law is okay.".

James gave her a small, grateful smile, and went on with many of his people wishing him good luck, and prayers for Victor, and took up his unmarked home car, driving through traffic to his daughters' apartment house, almost relieved that Nora wasn't pregnant anymore otherwise her stress would have put Jackson into danger, but yet if his daughter Barbara finds that she's pregnant sooner or later, he would have to put a close look on her...He would blame himself if this could cause a miscarriage, but he knows that Barbara is strong...she will listen to Nora and James.

He took a deep breath and knew that he was going to have to quickly get to the point as they all needed to quickly gather their things before heading to the airport. He got up to the door and a quick knock before Barbara opened it. "Hey, Dad.", she said before her mood soured as she saw the look on his face. "What's wrong?".

There was a brief pause as James sighed, "Barbara, you got to get Nora and Jackson, get some things ready, we need to leave. Victor's in the ER in Pennsylvania. Got hit by a drunk driver.".

Barbara gasped with tears, clenching her hand on the hinge, and James grabbed her shoulders, "Breathe, Barbara! Focus on me, we got Thomas preparing us his private plane...", and Barbara whispered, taking deep breaths, "Yes...yes...", both numb yet trying to obey her father as she and James went in. God, she and Nora was waiting for him to come home and have dinner...They figured traffic was keeping him up as they felt funny for a while.

Nora looked back as she smiled, "Dad, I thought your shift wasn't over.", as she was rocking Jackson slightly in his carrier on one of the dining chairs, their dinner staying warm in the stove after being all cooked, as they were waiting for Victor, wondering.

Nora became concerned when she realized her wife's numb look and James' urgent yet torn look, "What happened?", and James replied, "We gotta pack some things including Jackson's to go bag, Nora. We...We need to go to Pennsylvania because Victor is in the ER, after a car accident. Got hit by a drunk driver.".

Nora closed her eyes upon hearing that. "Nora, please... there will be time to cry on the flight over, but right now, we need to get things and then get to the airport. Victor's tough but we can't waste any time...", James said.

Nora took a deep breath, nodding as she opened her eyes, "Right.", and so, they packed up some things including necessary things for Jackson in his to-go bag, along with a couple of bottles of expressed breast milk if Nora cannot get privacy for natural breastfeeding.

They closed up the lights, put away the covered dish to eat on the private plane, and locked up the lab, the balcony, and everything to the front door and back door, and filled into James' car.

Barbara and Nora barely said more than ten words during all the packing, and Nora spoke to James via the view mirror, holding hands with Barbara around the baby seat of Jackson, "How bad?".

James sighed deeply, "I really don't know, but I was told that at least he was wearing his seat belt, and he's breathing as far as I knew when I got the call...They said that it was a hit in the far side, and then a roll.", as he was relieved that Gotham got the one freeway, and he's going safely fast as he could.

"I suppose it could be worse...", Barbara admitted. "He's still alive at least right now.", with a small nod. "Yes, we should try to keep positive in this situation, Barbara... it's all we can do right now.", James said.

Barbara nodded, still a bit numb at the feeling of her world crumbling beneath her, yet with Nora's hand in hers, hearing Jackson snuffle in his nap, and seeing her father, it's holding her up, "I know...I really pray that he's okay...", trying to hold back tears, not wanting any other car glimpsing her cry, even if the car is fast on the freeway.

Nora squeezed her hand tighter, "We will hold each other and cry in the private plane, Barb...I can't thank Thomas enough for preparing the plane...Poppy would look over Jackson...God, I knew I wasn't that bad on that day, but we must prepare ourselves...This isn't a collapse from over exhaustion or even a disease...No matter what happens, we must do our best and be there for him, and for ourselves...".

"Yeah...", Barbara sniffled before everyone went quiet again for a little while until they arrived at the airport. "James, did you manage to get the number to the hospital?", Thomas asked as they started to get out of their vehicle.

James nodded, "Yep, I'd never delete it. Want me to ring them now before we go into the plane as we can risk trouble if we don't turn our phones into airplane mode?", glancing to see Poppy checking over her friends and Jackson.

Thomas replied, "Turn your phones anyway into airplane mode, and ring them up after we're up in the air. We're fueled up and ready to go.", with a nod.

"Alright.", James changed his phone settings into airplane mode, seeing Poppy helping his daughters along with their phones as well, heading up into the plane, and after a few minutes of skating along and the wheels going up, the plane went into steady flight.

James then rang the number to the hospital, sadly glancing at his daughters who's holding each other and crying now as Poppy held Jackson with one of the prepared bottles, and then the call picked up, "Hello, this is Lancaster General Hospital, who is calling, please?".

"Hello, this is James Gordon, I received a call earlier about my son-in-law, Victor Fries-Gordon. I, and Victor's family is on a plane with a couple of family friends, including Dr. Thomas Wayne. Is Victor still in the ER?", James asked.
