A/N: just in case I didn't say it before, this story will be jumping back and forth from the past to the present. Thank you for all of the reviews!

Mel had known the first time they had held hands that Luke was the only one for her. It had happened then, the pull inwards as they touched palm to palm; her premonitions were always the same as the intense blinding light behind her eyelids shifted her mind from the present into a vision. Whole minutes would play out in a matter of seconds and it was no different this time.

This was the boy she was going to marry. He was going to become the man of her dreams. And someday they were going to have the perfect family.

She had seen was why she wasn't afraid of making a mistake.

It was only their third date and he was Melinda's first boyfriend, but from the moment he had grabbed her hand as they walked down the street to get a soda after their movie she had known. Luke was going to be her first and her last and everything in between. She had seen their destiny and it was together.

Sitting in the back of his hyundai Santa Fe, Melinda kissed him fervently. She had only kissed one other boy before and Tommy O'Connor was no where as talented as Luke. Then again, Luke was almost three years older than them; not that her family knew that. Mel had made sure not to introduce him to any of the psychics in the family and had made sure that her brothers didn't know who she was dating. The youngest Halliwell knew that Chris wouldn't take it well that she was dating someone his age.

Only Paige had met him and Mel wanted to keep it that way until her brother went off to college. Her parents just thought she was hanging out with some school friends and she knew Piper and Leo would go ballistic when they found out.

"Are you sure," he asked and Mel smiled, pulling her shirt over her head before reaching for his. This so wasn't like her; of all her siblings she was the shy one, the insecure one who never realized she was as pretty as she was. But tonight she comfortable in her own skin and felt at peace.

'What if our baby comes home after nine? What it your eyes close before mine? What if you lose yourself sometimes? Then i'll be the one to find you safe in my heart. I am giving up on making passes and I am giving up on half empty glasses and I am giving up on greener grasses; I am giving up for you.'

"Are you going to marry me or not," Luke demanded. She hadn't said anything in the five minutes since he got down on one knee and pulled out his great grandmother's ring; an antique gold band with a round cut ruby in the center surrounded by smaller rubies and diamonds.

Mel looked into his eyes and held out her hand, still unable to say anything. Laughing with his eyes, Luke put the ring on her finger and stared at her for a minute before standing. "Are you sure," he asked. "You look like you've just faced a firing squad," he joked before she launched herself into his arms.

"I just can't believe we're doing this," she cried and kissed him. "My parents are going to kill you, you know."

"Probably," Luke laughed and kissed her some more. "But you know it can be a long engagement. We have two years before we can make it legal," he reminded her.

"Plenty of time to plan then," Mel said and admired her ring. "It's beautiful. I can't believe we've been together for a year now."

"Do you want to go tell your parents? You know, before they see it and demand my head on a silver platter."

"Are you crazy," Piper yelled and Leo paced back and forth in the foyer. Mel had made some tea to serve and they were sitting in the conservatory. "There is no way I am letting my sixteen year old daughter get engaged to someone we've only known for three months!"

"Well, that's not exactly true," her daughter said and Piper turned to glare at her. "We've been seeing each other for a year. I just didn't want to say anything while Chris was still around."

"It's not like we would be doing it anytime soon, Mrs. Halliwell. Obviously we would have to wait until Mel is over eighteen which would mean she would absolutely finish high school and would already have a year of college under her belt," Luke tried to reason with her.

"And since I have so many AP classes I would technically have two and half years done by that time," Mel threw in.

"I think it would be best if you left, Lucas," Piper stood and walked towards the front doors. "I'm sorry, but there's just no way we are going to allow this."

"But mom-"

"Enough! Go to your room; we're done talking about this," Leo finally spoke. Opening the door, he held it to escort Luke out of the house before slamming it shut.
