Hey this is my first fanfic and there wasn't any better option in my mind then one about Yugioh arc v as this Yugioh anime is not only my favorite but also the one with my favorite Character who I believe deserved more Screen time Yuri this fanfic will be centered around a post Zarc era Arc v where the counterparts remained split with best boy as its main character.
Ch. 0 Prologue.
All Yuri heard before everything went black was manic laughter. He had just finished his duel against Yuya Sakaki and it seemed his attempt to break the spirit of the entertainment duelist had finally worked.
Yuri struggled to lift his head catching a glimpse of Yuya with that insane expression on his face so that was the man who handed him his first defeat.
A moment later Yuri could see nothing, so this was how being absorbed felt. He was in a pseudo sleep-like state only catching mere glimpses of the events that were taking place.
He had become a gargoyle-like being who still had Yuya's hair and goggles.
The first to step up to the plate were Sora Shiunin and Edo Phoenix two of Academia's elites they attempted to duel the new gargoyle like man who called himself Zarc when they fusion summon they were met by a instant effect that summoned what appeared to be his own dragon that easily dealt them.
Many more duelists stepped up to duel this Zarc but they were all met with the same fate being easily defeated by Zarc, even the Professor and Reiji Akaba fell to the might of the supreme king. When it looked like all hope was lost a little girl had approached Zarc intending to duel the demonic duelist. She was Reira Akaba the adopted sister of Reji Akaba but with a different vibe to her and she spoke Zarc as if they were far more than enemies.
Finally Yuri realized what was so different but simultaneously familiar she felt like Serena and Yuzu as well as Rin and Ruri. If Zarc was the result of Yuya himself Yugo and Yuto becoming one, then this spirit that was inhabiting Reira must be the combination of the four female counterparts.
The short duel that proceeded was easily the most magnificent one Yuri had ever seen his instincts screamed at him to join the game, being apart of this merger wasn't as much fun as Yuri expected why Yuri enjoyed watching those fools getting utterly crushed it lacked the intimate fun that was born when he was personally demoralizing his pathetic opponents.
In one move the small girl turned the entire momentum of their match around. Putting a stop to the amalgamation's domination with four cards. The EN CARDS the cards devised by Leo Akaba to harness the power of nature itself to put an end to Zarc and why it had failed when used by Leo himself it had succeeded now and in a flash of light the gargoyle like form of Zarc was ripped apart back into the four of them.
"Goodbye Zarc please finally rest." Said the body of Reira but the words clearly came from the heart of Ray.
"Reira?" Reiji muttered, approaching the girl he had called brother throughout their journey across dimensions.
"The one you call Reira is the one I am using as my vessel." Said the spirit that was using Reira's body to speak.
"So you must be Ray, correct the one who defeated Zarc originally and split the dimensions." Reiji astutely surmised.
"Correct when Father recombined my four reincarnations I did not wish to return to this physical plain so your sister offered her body to act as my vessel to defeat Zarc." The spirit now known to be Ray explained calmly. "Before I can return control of your sister's body to her I must fix the mess our Father has made." Ray said, determined.
"Please bring Zarc's reincarnations along. I do not want to leave them alone." Ray said gesturing to the four unconscious frames of Yuya, Yuri, Yugo and Yuto.
Reiji turned behind him and normally he would order Tsukikage to take care of this but he had recently fallen to the Battle beast. Reiji moved to grab the four boys himself but with a loud grunt Gongenzaka lifted the four unconscious boys he was still clearly injured from his defeat at Zarc's hands. Behind him were Sora Shiunin, Kaito Tenjo, Crow Hogan, Shingo Sawatari, Jack Atlas, Edo Phoenix and Shun Kurosaki.
"I the man Gongenzaka will carry everything that needs to be carried." Gongenzaka said through huffs and puffs.
Reiji smiled looking at the group that had faced Zarc. "Thank you my Lancers." Reiji said under his breath his smile wide.
"You formed quite the group of loyal fighters, I'd expect nothing less from my little brother." Ray said with an elder sisterly smile that looked unfitting on Reira's face.
"What the hell is going on!" Sawatari loudly yelled comedically.
"Best not to think about it." Crow said, placing a hand on the younger man's shoulder.
"Wait!" Leo Akaba shouted, approaching the group his lower jaw stuttered as he looked at Reira. "Is it you Ray!?" Leo Akaba asked yet it sounded as if he was begging for it to be true.
"Unimportant. Now follow, your expertise is required." Ray said her tone clearly carried contempt.
Leo had an expression of baffled terror but still followed the group regardless he was so caught up in Ray's words he didn't even notice the glares of disdain both Shun and Kaito kept set on him.
The group moved through the wrecked hallways of academia making their way to the Professor's lab where the Arc area project was located. Leo looked over to the body of Reira realizing why she brought them to this location.
"First order of business splitting my spirit back into my four reincarnations again." Ray said resolutely.
"NO I will not! I've worked for years just to get you back after all these sacrifices and those who have died just for your revival! I won't undo all my work!" Leo screamed shaking.
"SILENCE! I want no reminder of the countless lives you pointlessly threw away!" Ray yelled at her father the rage she had been attempting to conceal now boiling over.
"Ray. The lives of these people don't matter; they are from a shadow of are home. The greatest accomplishment they could hope for is to be useful in the resurrection of our original dimension!" Leo angrily shouted.
"You old fool, you must've noticed that there are lives entirely original to the four new dimensions, Reiji wasn't born into our dimension but his life is just as real as ours." Ray says desperately trying to explain to her Father.
"Ray these four, sullied versions of are home are not meant to be atrue dimension! There only purpose is to restore you and are home!" Leo screamed at his daughter.
Ray grit Reira's teeth. "You've dedicated your entire second chance at life just trying to bring me back. What would you do if you were born into one of the new dimensions and had your life torn apart just because some old fool selfishly to bring back a place that had already run its course. Our home is gone Father we lost it to Zarc but that is no reason to take what is not ours to restore what is lost, you have a new son, a new daughter, can you not grow content with that!" Ray yelled at her father, tears beginning to stream down Reira's cheeks.
The Professor looked at his daughter remembering all of their memories together teaching Ray how to duel watching her become a pro and eventually her stealing the EN cards to face Zarc. He then looked to his son remembering Reiji's birth, his son showing early signs of great intelligence and eventually abandoning his son for his desperate plan to return to his old life.
"Fine. Step into one of the capsules and I'll begin the process of splitting you back into the four of them." Leo said defeated.
"Thank you Father." Ray says her deep seated resentment for her father showing signs of love once again. Suddenly a golden aura surrounded Reira but swiftly left her body. A golden silhouette that resembled an older Yuzu now stood and moved to one of the four capsules that once contained the Bracelet girls.
Reiji moved to catch Reira before her limp body could hit the ground. He looked on seeing as his father worked on the main computer connected to the Arc area project.
"How do you plan on splitting her back into four?" Reiji asks while walking behind his father to look at the computer.
"Zarc showed the ability to merge his reincarnations by his own will alone with the Arc area project as a conduit. Ray should be able to split herself if she wills it to be." Leo explained pressing a final button and in a flash of light the golden silhouette was gone and in the four cylinders of glass the bracelet girls had returned.
The glass capsules opened and the four girls were about to fall. Gongenzaka moved to catch Yuzu, Sawatari moved to catch Serena, Shun ran to catch Ruri with unmatched urgency and Crow caught Rin since he was a nice guy.
"Ruri Ruri you're finally back." Shun said, holding his younger sister tightly his face losing all sense of sternness breaking down at the sight of his sister finally truly free.
"Shun tight." Ruri choked out from her brother's firm embrace.
Shun darted back to give his sister some space. Ruri after catching her breath looked up to her brother. "Where's Yuto?" She asked concerned. Shun nodded and pointed over to where the four Yu-boys lay. Yuzu and Rin were currently attempting to shake their respective boys awake.
"Come on Yuya stop playing around!" Yuzu yells, grabbing her fan, slapping it across the tomato haired boy's face.
"I'm up I'm up!" Yuya blurted, returning to consciousness.
"Geez you go across three whole dimensions to save a girl and this is the thank you get." Yuya says rubbing the now red half of his face that was hit with the fan.
"Wait Yuzu." Yuya stuttered turning to Yuzu, beginning to grow teary eyed.
"Yeah Yuya?" Yuzu says growing equally teary eyed.
The two from the standard dimension entering a loving embrace holding the other with a tightness with a hope that nothing could tear there beloved away from them.
"I'm so sorry that I couldn't save you Yuzu." Yuya apologized gripping the girl he loved tightly.
"You dummy, you did more than any friend had too. I love you." Yuzu says the words flowing so naturally she didn't even know what she was saying.
"I love you to." Yuya says holding Yuzu with a even firmer grip.
Ruri walked over to the unconscious Yuto hesitantly trying to wake the boy lightly shaking him again and again until a tear dropped from her face. "Yuto please wake up." Ruri requested weakly.
The soft words landed eloquently into his ears and his body refused to sleep any longer. "Ruri." Yuto awoke. The two stare lovingly at each beginning their own loving embrace.
Shun looked on happily at the reunion. Shun with a rare smile ran to join his best friend and sister.
Kaito observed the reunion and a strong sense of melancholy and undeniable envy that overwhelmed him. He was happy at Yuto's and Ruri's revival and Shun regaining his sister but there was still the matter of his own family. With a glare Kaito turned his head to the man responsible for all this.
Kaito marched up to the Professor making his presence known. "Akaba, give me one good reason why I shouldn't card you for all you've done!" Kaito spoke assertively pointing his duel disk at the Professor.
"Ah Kaito Tenjo you're the one who slayed nearly half of the Obelisk force." Leo said, speaking with little emotion.
"It doesn't matter who I am now, what about all the people your army carded!" Kaito begins to scream unleashing his hatred for the man.
"If you have any one you want uncarded I can do that for you if you simply possess the card." Leo explains as if his words were common knowledge.
"WHAT!" All conscious in the room exclaim with shock.
"I figured out the process to turn human beings into small pieces of cardboard. It was as easy as turning around to figure out how to reverse it." Leo said bluntly.
"Wait but that means!" Sawatari yells in realization.
"If you can get the cards to my lab I can turn them back into people, yes." Leo finishes.
Yuya stood up ending his hug with Yuzu "Can you start with this one please?" Yuya requested handing the Professor the card that contained his father Yushow.
Leo took the card that contained his former long time friend looking at it with an expression that could be interpreted as sorrow and with a flurry of motions on his computer Yushow rejoined the group as a person.
Yushow stood in the room but before he could say anything Yuya lept to hug his father.
"I'm sorry dad, I couldn't do it. I forgot to smile and tried to destroy my opponent!" Yuya cried hiding his crying face by hugging his father. "I became a monster." Yuya cry's his voice cracking with the weight of his despair from his failure.
"Oh Yuya, Yuya it's ok, when you mess up what's most important is to keep smiling and to keep going, like your pendulum you've gone one way but that must mean you go the other way." Yushow spoke softly embracing his dear son.
After the hug ended Yushow turned over to Leo and smiled. "I knew you still had good in you Leo." Yushow beams.
Leo grimaces. "If that's all you wanted to stay you can leave." Leo deflects.
Yushow chuckled. "No, me being back means there's a way to undo the carding process. Can you do this one as well?" Yushow says handing the card containing Dennis Macfeild.
Leo without words takes the card and begins the process of returning Dennis to life.
With a bright glow Dennis appeared from the card. "Huh I'm back." Dennis mutters. Dennis's eyes widened seeing all those around him. "No, no, no! I don't deserve this I can't come back!" Dennis yelled, averting his gaze.
"Dennis it's not too late, you can come back." Yuya says kneeling to the Dennis who was in the process of a panic attack "I know you loved your time with us Lancers. I know you loved entertaining the crowd so please keep going. So please Dennis keep living." Yuya pleaded determined and hopeful.
"Yuya." Dennis's voice squeaked revealing his teary eyes.
"Yeah you're just like me if we keep entertaining the crowd, us entertainment duelists will keep going. Sora says, putting his hands behind his head.
"Don't just give up on your life, work to make up for your sins." Shun says, stepping forward.
"Kurosaki." Dennis mutters looking at the man that outed him.
"I'll be working to fix academia. Any student that's learned the truth of the world will be vital, especially any of Yushow Sakaki's students." Edo says grabbing Dennis by the hand and pulling him up.
"Thank you." Dennis says, rubbing the tears from his eyes. "With this I think I can put on an encore." Dennis beams, putting back on his entertainer flare.
The rustling of the leather of Yugo's riding uniform echoed through the room. "Get up already!" Rin screams using rage to veil her sadness.
"Rin." Yugo said weakly, his eyes barely beginning to open.
"ABOUT TIME!" Rin says slapping Yugo across the face.
"Oh sorry your not Rin my bad Yuzu or are you Serena?" Yugo asks ignorant.
"WHAT! First you take forever to save me! Then you're mistaking me for other girls you two timing piece of trash!" Rin screams continuing to slap Yugo
"Wait Rin it's you it's really you?" Yugo asked stunned ignoring the slaps.
"Yes you moron." Rin says tears beginning to stream down her face.
Yugo runs at full speed pulling Rin into a hug. "Yeah you're right it's all my fault I'm a real dumbass keep insulting me!" Yugo shouted holding Rin up in a hug.
Rin's face grew flushed. "YUGO we're with strangers!" Rin shrieked flailing her legs in the air.
"Nah I know some of these guys, I'll explain things when we get back home." Yugo grined, placing Rin back on the ground pointing to himself with his thumb after.
Yuzu, Rin and Ruri all stood with their respective boys all ecstatic to be reunited.
Serena stood on her own, she looked over to the still unconscious Yuri sprawled out on the ground they had removed his duel disk for safety and confiscated the deck box that contained his many victims.
Despite being surrounded by her friends for some reason Serena couldn't remove her gaze from the unconscious fusion summoner.
Small flickers of light began to creep into Yuri's eyes he had begun to wake up his eyelids felt heavy and his body was exhausted his brain had just started to wake up enough for his ears to hear the world around him.
"So what do we do about HIM?" Yugo asked his eyes held an intense rage that was a severe shift from the joy his reunion with Rin had given him.
"We'll let him stay at academia." Dennis says. "Just like the rest of us Yuri's never had a chance to be anything different than a weapon to be used for the Professor's plan he deserves the same opportunity to make something better of himself just like the rest of us." Dennis declared his tone carrying an intense air of responsibility.
The crowd of people looked at Dennis with uncertain eyes. Yes Yuri was a victim of the Professor like the rest of the students. His actions felt different and more personal, like he gained a sick satisfaction that was different from the Professor's other soldiers.
Yuri heard the words in his defense and they made him feel sick to stomach He wasn't some wayward soul that needed guidance! He was the Apex predator! The single strongest soldier in Academia's history.
Yuri's body moved faster than any in the room could react. He grabbed his duel disk and before any could grab him he disappeared in a flash of purple.
His hunt would continue.
Ok that's the first chapter sorry for the lack of Yuri or a duel but this was basically just to establish the world before we go into the actual story the bulk of this chapter was originally all exposition but I thought the emotions would hit harder through actual dialogue and yes the story will be Yuri x Serena it will be awhile before we get any development on that part but I promise it will come hope you enjoyed and please review I'm desperate for any feedback.
