Unforeseen Consequences
Chapter 10 Declarations and preparations
Author's notes I do not own Marvel just the idea for this fic which is set in an AU Along with my OC's Jack and Graham Williams and others who might show up in this fic in future chapters like The Serpent. Also, some characters will be OOC in this story.
That is enough of an author's notes, on with chapter 10.
The White House
US President Ellis was in the Oval Office and when the camera was live, he began he address to the nation and to the World. "My fellow Americans. Fellow citizens of the World who like me love freedom and democracy. I am speaking to you all tonight to let you all know that a short time ago, the Avengers, along with new friends from the stars, the Guardians of the Galaxy have ended one great threat to the peace-loving world. The leader of the hate group and terrorists known as the Watchdogs, Felix Blake has been taken into custody. They planned to use nuclear weapons bought from a North Korean higher up, to kill millions of innocent lives. It was stopped and earlier on before that, on my authority. US troops entered the territory of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, alongside soldiers from our allies from Japan and the Republic of Korea, after an attempt was made by the DPRK to attack American soil with nuclear weapons, that was stopped thanks to our naval assets and SHIELD forces."
The President paused before he continued "I am pleased to announce to the world, the tyrant Kim Jong Un, who tried to use some of his nuclear weapons to attack the United States in his madness, is dead. Killed in an attack by our troops and our allies. Our troops will remain in the DPRK to assist those rebels in dealing with the few loyalist forces remaining. We will give aid to those in North Korea who seek freedom. We will do so for anyone who seeks to be free and who is in need of help. To all those other tyrants out there who use fear to oppress the innocent. Let this be a warning. Your day is over. Your actions will no longer be tolerated. It is now your turn to feel the fear you inflict on others."
The speech ended and within a half hour, President Ellis was watching on TV, crowds of people in the United States out in the streets chanting USA, including outside the White House and the same reaction was happening as well in South Korea and Japan at the news of Kim Jong Un's death on CNN.
As he watched this on TV, Secretary of State Ross was nearby saying "Shame you cannot run for a third term. After that speech you just gave and what has happened. You would win in a landslide. Congratulations, you have secured your legacy."
President Ellis asked "Felix Blake is in now in SHIELD custody?"
Ross nodded saying "Director Coulson wanted to ensure the man got a proper goodbye from his old SHIELD employers, before he's transferred to the federal authorities."
SHIELD HQ a few hours later
Felix Blake was wheeled out of the Quinjet and saw dozens of SHIELD agents looking at him with pure hatred in their eyes, some muttered the word traitor as he went past them. Others called him, terrorist, or murderer.
Felix was brought to Coulson's office with other agents in the room and spoke up "You must feel like a real big shot in that chair now Coulson. The world knows your alive and everyone loving you. Being a big hero. You are using that to delude people into thinking welcoming alien freaks here to Earth is a good thing. Putting our planet at risk. You make me sick to my stomach."
Coulson stood up and said "I saw what you planned to do with those nukes. You were going to target Avengers HQ, this very building and where the Asgardian refugees are. You were going to target innocent children, kill millions of innocents in your madness. You are the freak, not me!"
Felix said "Asgardian freaks are not innocent. They bring only death and destruction to Earth. You are a freak just like them. Alien crap kept you alive. Having Inhuman freaks in SHIELD. When they should all be murdered outright!"
Felix's mad ranting was stopped, when an outraged SHIELD agent with a relative who was an Inhuman, hit him across the face with one good punch and was about to deliver another as Coulson yelled "Leave him!"
Felix asked "So why am I here exactly?"
Coulson answered "Your only here to see, people like you are the vile minority and you bring shame to SHIELD. You and your Watchdog bigots are just as bad as HYDRA. If not worse. So, you see SHIELD is better now. And I wanted to say goodbye. You are going to be transferred into the custody of federal law enforcement. Your Watchdogs did attack Federal buildings. So, you are facing the death penalty for your crimes. Goodbye Blake. When I see you again at your execution. I will wave to you as your strapped down for that lethal injection. Get this filth out of here."
The agents took Felix Blake out of the room, as SHIELD teams were out taking down the remaining Watchdog groups, following intel found where Blake was apprehended. The last of those terrorists and bigots were being taken down even now in raids by US federal law enforcement, in cooperation from SHIELD agents.
After tonight, The Watchdogs would be no more. It was a reason to celebrate, but Coulson would not pop open a champagne bottle until HYDRA was also eliminated once and for all.
They were SHIELD's enemy and they needed to be wiped out, once and for all.
After that SHIELD would shake off the sins of the past from HYDRA's taint of SHIELD and the organization would help protect Earth and ensure HYDRA remained dead and buried after its last head was cut off.
SHIELD would become strong again.
Team Hunter would see to that.
Elsewhere in SHIELD HQ, most of the Guardians of the Galaxy were saying fond farewells to Greg Quill, who was heading back to Missouri and the Guardians planned to see him again there and meet the rest of the Quill family, they were to have a long awaited, family reunion with Peter and the new members of the family.
SHIELD was ensuring Greg got a first-class flight back home, a gift arranged by Director Coulson and Secretary of State Ross.
He had quite a story to tell the rest of the family. Peter was alive and he now had a granddaughter in Mantis as well and a great grandson in the adorable little Groot.
Part of him also looked forward to when he could call Gamora, a granddaughter in law, she was a good woman for Peter. He knew Meredith would have loved her.
Unknown Location
Steve Rogers was silent, not saying a word as he watched the news reports going over the speech President Ellis made to the world a few hours ago, what had nearly happened and what was stopped.
Sam who was sitting nearby also was not saying a word, while Wanda and Clint were shopping to get food and drink, they would be leaving this motel tonight, figure out their next step.
Steve thought of how things could have been different if the Accord's were not around, maybe then the Avengers could have done something to prevent that attack from ever nearly happening.
With these damned Accords in place, what was to prevent something like that happening again and the Avengers unable to intervene.
He was pulled out of his thoughts when the phone in the motel room rang, that shocked both men, the only ones who knew the number to their room was Clint and Wanda, they would not phone like that.
Steve picked up the phone, as the caller said "Captain. Do not be alarmed. Do not hang up. Yes, I know where you and your friends are. But I am on your side."
Steve asked "Who are you?"
The caller said "Someone from SHIELD who unlike others, remembers you as a hero. I want you to have the chance to prove it. I am going to give you a set of coordinates to a HYDRA base near where you are now. About a day or so by car if you drive."
The coordinates were given and Steve wrote them down, before the caller hung up.
Sam wondered if this call was some kind of trap and Steve had the same idea, he would go first, scout out this location. If the information was accurate. They would take down some HYDRA members in a few days' time.
It was time for the real Avengers, who did not sign the Accords to do what they did best. Save the world and stop the likes of HYDRA.
Avengers HQ
It was a few hours after they had stopped the Watchdogs, Thor was still trying to control his rage, he was in a special built training room, that could remain intact and allow him to cut loose and right, he was going through robots like they were nothing.
The door opened and one of the Guardians of the Galaxy walked in. It was Drax the Destroyer, who got out his knives and started to attack these robots as well.
Neither man said anything as they continued tearing through these robots, before Drax said "I know really has you in here. Destroying these useless machines in anger. You are not just angry about the attack that nearly happened on your people. Your angry about something else, aren't you?"
Thor did not say a word before he destroyed more robots and said "That attack by those bigots. Nearly wiped out what was left of my people. Asgard was lost after my older sister Hela went there and killed anyone who stood in her way. If I had been there. I could have stopped her. A lot of those who died. My friends would still be alive right now. I would not have lost an eye!"
Thor let out his anger at all that happened, upon the robots he destroyed and Drax said "I went through something similar, consumed in rage and anger after I lost my family. It nearly destroyed me. You still have your people to lead and they look to you for guidance now."
Thor saw what Drax was saying and nodded in understanding and the two men cleaned up the mess Thor left in his rage, before they went at it, in a friendly sparring match.
Rocket and Tony were in another room, watching CCTV of the fight happening and making a friendly bet on who would win, each betting on their respective team member to come out on top.
Rocket and Drax had come to Avengers HQ as Rocket wanted to see what high tech gadgets Stark had and how he could help improve it and Drax came along to make sure Rocket did not try and steal anything. Knowing he would try to do so, if unsupervised. Last thing that the Guardians wanted was Rocket causing trouble, like what happened with the Sovereign.
Rocket was impressed with the set up and some of the tech Tony had. It was not bad, from someone who came from a planet seen by most of the galaxy as a mere backwater like Earth.
The two of them got along great and Rocket after seeing footage of Tony as Ironman in action offered some ideas on how to improve upon it, which he took on board, happy to take it as they got to work in the lab, all the while Thor and Drax were still going at it in their sparring match.
Unknown location
In their main base, The Serpent was nearly shaking in rage. A lot of their bases in Europe and America attacked and taken, dozens of good agents dead, killed by their hated enemies SHIELD and those who ally with them.
The Hydra member in front of him, the only one to escape a nearby base and report what happened in person said "We deleted all info on other bases. They clearly do not know about this base, or they would have attacked here as well sir. I assure you. We fought to the very last man."
The Serpent took out a pistol and quickly pointed it at the man saying "Clearly you didn't!" as he shot the man dead and said to a subordinate "Find out how many of our bases are still intact and give me a status report of their plans and operations. I want it in the next half hour. Or I have a bullet here for you as well!"
The HYDRA operative fled the room in terror, to carry out the order as the Serpent cursed what happened and how it might set back his plans.
He hoped that Dr Charles info about this Elijah Bradley could lead to something. If so then Project Resurgence would be back on schedule and HYDRA would grow back stronger than ever, led by two heads. Once his wife, Madame HYDRA was awake and able to lead again, with him by her side. HYDRA would be unstoppable.
The Serpent then got a text message on his burner phone and smiled when he saw what the message was.
He sent a text back, telling his deep cover operative to proceed with his special mission, if he could do it quickly, it would strike a blow against SHIELD in this war. Show their enemies, HYDRA was still in this fight.
The operative in Washington DC got his orders and smiled as he got ready to strike a blow for HYDRA.
He got into position, taking out a sniper rifle, waiting for the target to arrive. He knew it would not be long, their friends in the CIA, jealous of SHIELD and all their funding, growing influence made sure the intel was correct.
And it was true, money opened all doors. HYDRA had a lot to spend, the price was worth it.
He was waiting near a property in the city for nearly an hour and soon a vehicle arrived and the sharpshooter smiled as he saw the target emerge.
It was none other than SHIELD higher up, and advisor to the US President Graham Williams who got out of the car, took a few looks around before going to up to the front door of his property, when his back was turned the sharpshooter opened fire with 3 shots to the back, he smiled as Graham Williams was shot and fell down the steps and the sniper fired once more in the head, to ensure Graham Williams was dead.
HYDRA just struck back in a big way.
Within a half hour, SHIELD got the news that Graham Williams was dead and at the SHIELD blacksite where he learned the news, Jack Williams was enraged once he learned that his father was murdered.
It was obvious to Jack who did this. HYDRA. He swore that no matter what it took, no matter how long it would take. HYDRA would be torn down and every one of the organization dead, choking on their own blood.
Jack fell to his knees and cried at the murder of his father. Screaming out in rage.
As SHIELD Director Phil Coulson was having SHIELD start a manhunt for whoever killed Graham Williams, this was top priority for the organization.
CCTV cameras in the area got footage of who the shooter was, he just found himself number 1 on SHIELD's Most Wanted and calls were made to local law enforcement to help with the manhunt.
Once all of that was done, Coulson went back to his office, got out a bottle of scotch and poured himself a glass, drinking to Graham Williams, he might have had disagreements with Graham and some of his methods, but he also respected the man, he was soon joined by Melinda May, who poured herself a drink.
Elsewhere Maria Hill had heard the news and cried at the news, before getting a Quinjet to take her to the SHIELD blacksite where Jack was, she needed to be there for him now.
SHIELD Research and Development
Adrian Toomes was having the time of his life, working legit allowed him access to so many resources to make weapons, SHIELD had an unlimited money pit and they put it to good use.
Toomes had make some fast friends in his new work, it seemed his weapons impressed a lot of weapon developers in SHIELD, he was working on a project to help with shield technology.
He had seen what happened in New York when the Chituari attacked, anything that could help keep Earth safe, he would help do it.
Make it so his daughter could be proud of him. Make up for his past mistakes.
Along with other members of SHIELD, also in the facility were advisors from Wakanda to oversee the work being done on the shipments of Vibranium in addition to the Vibranium weapons that King T'Challa had sent to SHIELD to help with defence of the planet and as a sign to the international community that Wakanda only had good intentions.
Toomes and his new colleagues talked for a bit before they proposed a question to one of the advisors from Wakanda "How much Vibranium would be needed to make defence shields for cities?" The answer started giving them some ideas for the future, hopefully it would prevent another attack like what happened in New York from ever happening again.
Mali – a few days later
Atoea smiled as the strike team got ready, their new weapons were ready. The objectives were clear and most importantly of all, their new spy was in place to ensure they got in just fine and they knew where what they wanted was and how to get it.
Atoea got on his body armour and got ready to lead this mission himself, he would lead his HYDRA faction to greatness.
The convoy got ready and the order was given to move out. They were heading to Wakanda.
