Chapter 8: Beware the Eggman
After dinner, Makoto and Nao went straight to work doing the dishes. Erica meanwhile had gone back to her little office to do some work. The little pinkette had indeed eaten just over half of what had been put on the table. Both Nao and Makoto were actually a little impressed by this feat. Once the dishes were done, the couple decided to sit at the counter and have a little after dinner tea.
"Everything okay?" Nao suddenly asked. "You've seemed a little preoccupied ever since dinner."
"I just keep thinking about how Hotaru broke down when she heard about how Yoko died in her past life," Makoto explained. "She really is devoted to that girl."
"And from the looks of it, Yoko feels the same way about Hotaru. It occurs to me we don't know the full story behind those two. They definitely have more of a history than we realized."
"It's a little hard to believe though. I mean didn't those two only just meet in Paris?"
"During this lifetime," Nao reminded her, pointing his index finger at the table. "But during some previous lifetime they must've had some epic romance. Maybe it happened on Saturn around the same time as our tragic relationship."
Makoto shook her head. "Can't be. Back then Saturn was already a dead world. It has been that way since the rise of the Moon Kingdom. The others and I didn't know it then, but Sailor Saturn was dormant, awakening only to act as the Kingdom's final doomsday weapon."
"Okay, so whatever happened between Hotaru and Yoko didn't happen during Silver Millennium. Still, those two definitely have some past life connection, and I think there's someone in this house besides the two of them who knows the full story."
"Then I guess we better go and ask her, huh?"
Leaving their tea unfinished, the couple exited the kitchen and went upstairs to the little room Erica was using as her office. Makoto knocked, and about ten seconds later the door opened up just enough for Erica to stick her head out.
"If there's one thing I hate, it's having my work interrupted," Erica told them. "This had better be important."
"We want to know more about Hotaru and Yoko's past," Makoto declared with her hands on her hips. "I get the feeling you and the other Sailor Valkyries know all about it."
Erica's expression softened and she opened the door the rest of the way. "Yes, I suppose you both should've been informed about those details much sooner. Come on in. I'll tell you both what you need to know."
Makoto and Nao followed Erica into the little office. Erica directed the couple to look at her computer's giant screen and began typing at the keyboard.
"Lord Khepri has lived nine different lifetimes, counting her current incarnation as Yoko Renard," Erica began as she continued to type. "Those first four lifetimes were lived on Saturn long before your Moon Kingdom even came into existence. Our base computer network currently has all existing data on those four lifetimes. What you're about to see on screen is an image of Lord Khepri's very first incarnation."
Appearing on the screen was a young man, almost a boy really, who had very fair skin and short dark hair. He had dazzling gold eyes, the same eyes as Yoko's in fact. His outfit consisted of a loose short-sleeved shirt and a pair of shorts made of a strange gold fabric, and a pair of gold sandals.
"He's cute," Makoto remarked.
"This incarnation does not have a name," Erica revealed. "In fact he was not in this form originally when he first came to Saturn. Lord Khepri was born from this solar system's sun while still in a form similar to Earth's scarab beetles. Back then, Sailor Saturn was the only form of humanoid life on her planet. The two of them traveled together, and as the story goes Lord Khepri decided to assume a humanoid form based on the type of life form that would eventually populate the planet. From that point on Sailor Saturn and Lord Khepri were in near constant company with each other, and not surprisingly the two of them eventually became lovers."
"Guess it makes sense, given the two of them were the only people on the planet," Nao remarked.
"It's actually kind of romantic that they had an entire planet to themselves," Makoto noted. "So what happened?"
"Tsathoggua happened," Erica answered, her expression darkening. "After reigning for a time in the Tau System, that cosmic abomination came to this solar system and decided to make Saturn his domain. Sailor Saturn and Lord Khepri fought against him of course, but they ultimately perished. In fact Sailor Saturn attempted to use her power to destroy planets to eliminate Tsathoggua, but in the end she could only suppress him. Eons past, and a new civilization of people formed on Saturn.
"The society that formed was a rather primitive one, with different kingdoms constantly at war with one another. The strongest kingdom unfortunately was one that was ruled by a cult that worshiped Tsathoggua. Sailor Saturn was reborn as Tifet Ashra, a princess to one of the lesser kingdoms. The story goes Tifet was arranged to be married to the ruler of the kingdom of Tsathoggua worshipers, but was rescued by Khepri's incarnation of the time, the barbarian known as Sol Dash-Ril."
Appearing on the screen was a tall and very handsome-looking man in his late thirties. He had long dark hair and tan skin. Golden armor covered his torso, while his muscular arms were bare and showed many scars. He also had the same golden eyes that Yoko had.
"Wow! He's, um…he's pretty hot," Makoto admitted, causing Nao to grumble.
"Indeed. I would definitely consider this incarnation of Lord Khepri's to be the perfect male specimen," Erica agreed. "Those broad shoulders, those rippling biceps, those powerful hips that could…". She tugged on the collar of her shirt as if overheated. "I'm sorry, what were we talking about?"
Smiling, Nao cleared his throat. "We were talking about Hotaru and Yoko's past lives."
Erica shook her head. "Right, right. As I was saying, Lord Sol rescued Princess Tifet. After the princess regained her past life memories as Sailor Saturn, the two of them rekindled their romance. Together they led a rebellion against the kingdom of Tsathoggua worshipers. They succeeded in toppling the kingdom, only to fall once again to Tsathoggua himself. Sailor Saturn was forced to use her world-ending powers again, and once more Tsathoggua was surpassed.
"More centuries passed, and Sailor Saturn was reborn again as an orphan servant girl by the name of Valla. Meanwhile Lord Khepri was reborn as Valla's mistress and only childhood friend, Corona Tillos."
Appearing on the computer screen now was a beautiful young woman with an elegant face and shimmering pink hair arranged into a pair of twin ponytails. She of course also had a pair of golden eyes like Yoko's.
"Wow!" Makoto exclaimed. "She looks almost exactly like Chibi-Usa as a teenager!"
"Wait, you mean Mamoru and Usagi's daughter from the future? That Chibi-Usa?"
"Yep. You know…this actually explains a lot."
"Lady Corona and Valla awakened their past life memories at about the same time and carried on a passionate secret affair for weeks," Erica continued. "Unfortunately Tsathoggua revived at about the same time as well. At this point you can probably guess how the story ended."
Makoto's expression darkened. "They died fighting Tsathoggua and Sailor Saturn was forced to end the world again."
Erica nodded. "More time passed, and the new civilization that eventually formed on Saturn had become fairly advanced, but had also all but destroyed itself with a long and brutal war. Sailor Saturn was reborn as a woman named Kat-ya Vrosh. She wasn't anything special before awakening, merely a simple farm girl trying to stay out of the war as much as she could. After awakening as Sailor Saturn, Kat-ya became a wanderer, eventually encountering Lord Khepri's latest incarnation, a boy named Ray-don Shin."
Appearing on the computer screen this time was a twelve-year-old boy with light-brown hair. He also had the same golden eyes as Yoko's.
"Uh, he's pretty young," Makoto noted.
"Yes, and at this age he had yet to awaken his true power or any of the memories of his previous life," Erica revealed. "Meanwhile, though physically forever in her twenties, Kat-ya was already forty-two when she met young Ray-don. They traveled together, and ten years later Ray-don awakened again as Lord Khepri. Afterwards the two of them immediately rekindled their romance."
"Wait, ten years? By then Sailor Saturn would've been in her early fifties," Nao realized.
"Hotaru robbed the cradle!" Makoto declared.
Erica rolled her eyes behind her glasses. "Anyway, their new romance unfortunately lasted for only a night. The very next day they encountered Tsathoggua and found he had grown far too powerful. Sailor Saturn was left with no choice but to end the world right then and there. That was when the cycle was interrupted. This time when Sailor Saturn ended the world, Queen Serenity the First arrived and used her power to banish both Lord Khepri and Tsathoggua from the planet, unintentionally sending them here to Earth. She then placed Sailor Saturn under seal to use as a living doomsday weapon, sealing away every one of Sailor Saturn's past life memories in the process.
"I have to wonder if perhaps your former queen thought she was being merciful, both in not destroying Tsathoggua with her power and in placing Sailor Saturn's memories under seal. But it's not my place to question the actions of an Elder God. In any event, you now both know the full story of Lady Hotaru and Lady Yoko's relationship."
"Hold on. What about Khepri's other incarnations?" Nao asked. "We know about him being a god in Ancient Egypt, and about Gerard Prescott and Yoko. But what about the other two incarnations?"
Erica turned her chair to face them. "I will say nothing of the great war in Ancient Egypt. Nothing except that Lord Khepri and the other Elder Gods of that land banded together to fight an evil my people dare not name. Since the events of that war are not at all relevant to our current situation I shall speak no more of them. As for Lord Khepri's other Earth-born incarnations, I currently know nothing of them besides Lady Yoko. I only learned about Gerard Prescott tonight like the two of you. If you want to know more, you'll have to ask Lady Yoko yourselves."
"Thanks Erica," Makoto told her. "This helps."
Erica nodded. "I hope that knowing all of this will make things around here a little less awkward. Now if you'll excuse me, I still have work to do."
With those words, Erica turned her chair back around to face the computer. Makoto and Nao left the little office, closing the door behind them.
"Well, now we know," Nao shrugged.
Makoto nodded. "And here I thought Hotaru was just getting carried away with some new crush. We should've been more supportive of their relationship from the beginning."
"Yep. Especially since we were so worried about the others being supportive of our relationship."
"…It's late. We should probably head to bed. Chances are we're gonna have a big day tomorrow."
Nao and Makoto headed back down to the kitchen, where they proceeded to dispose of the now cold and unused tea and put away the tea kettle and cups.
"You know, I couldn't help but notice how you and Erica were drooling over Khepri's incarnation as the barbarian king," Nao noted, smirking. "Should I be jealous?"
Putting down the kettle, Makoto smirked back and crossed her arms. "He was sort of my type. Strong, rugged, handsome. Pretty much like you."
Nao came closer. "I see. So you'd say I'm just as strong and handsome as this legendary barbarian?"
Makoto undid her ponytail. "You certainly have the kind of strong hips Erica mentioned. In fact I think you should put them to use right now."
Erica yawned as she came down to the kitchen for some water. The pink-haired half-pint was currently operating on fumes and decided she needed a long break. While she realized she needed to determine where Patchwork Wiley was hiding in the city, she decided it wouldn't do anyone any good for her to pull two all-nighters in a row. Once she had some water, Erica intended to sleep for a few hours and get back to her search in the morning. Because of Erica's exhaustion though, she didn't realize that the kitchen was already occupied until it was too late.
After hearing loud moans, Erica stopped at the doorway and saw Makoto naked and bent over the counter, her knuckles white as she clung to the counter's edge for dear life. Nao was also completely naked and pounding into Makoto from behind as he held onto her hips. Erica found she couldn't look away, and couldn't help but stare at Nao's bare chest and broad shoulders.
"Get ready! I'm gonna blow!" Nao declared.
"Yeah! DO IT!" Makoto cried out.
Erica could only gaze on in amazement as the two of them came to a hard climax at the same time. Several seconds passed, and once Makoto and Nao both finally came down from their high and caught their breath that they finally noticed Erica standing in the doorway. The two of them immediately froze like a pair of deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming car.
"Um…I just came for a bottle of water from the fridge," Erica told them.
The pinkette went over to the fridge, pulled out a bottle of water, and headed back for the doorway. Nao and Makoto kept their eyes on her the entire time.
"Carry on," Erica told them as she reached the door. "I do hope that you will have the decency to sanitize that counter once you're done however."
Erica did not pause to listen for whether or not Nao and Makoto were going to go another round or pick up their clothes and scurry back to their room. She didn't want to know either way. Erica never liked walking in on people in the middle of doing the deed. It always made things incredibly awkward, and for Erica such an occurrence happened with regular frequency between Sandra often bringing home some bimbo she picked up and Frieda's rather legendary sexual appetite. It appeared Erica's current mission on Earth was going to be no different from how things normally went at the base on her home world.
Yet while she hated having walked in on Makoto and Nao, Erica had to admit she liked seeing Nao in action, and she did have one or two fantasies earlier regarding the late Sol Dash-Ril. As she headed to her room, Erica realized that before she could get any sleep, she was going to have to break out her self-made and seldomly used pneumatic vibrator in order to put out the fire that had broken out in her loins.
Uranus and the others weren't sure how long they had been wandering through the immense multi-floored labyrinth. A great amount of time had passed since Rita had abducted Neptune, but none of the four could be certain if it had been only a few hours since they had begun their ascent or a few days. Uranus and Mars of course had tried using their communicators to contact the mountain villa, but they had unsurprisingly been unable to get a signal. Furthermore, the digital clocks built into the Sailor Guardians' communicators had been flashing all zeros. Mars had come to the conclusion that the labyrinth existed in a separate dimension that existed outside the normal flow of time and followed its own rules, or perhaps more accurately, whatever rules Rita made up for it.
Each floor of the labyrinth seemed to exist as its own environment, taking the forms of forests, fields and swamps. Many of these environments contained ancient and alien-looking ruins of black stone. Some of these ruins were the remains of buildings, and there were also odd statues that had either crumbled with age or had been built broken to begin with. There were also creatures of all kinds of each floor of the labyrinth. Some were seemingly harmless, such as the black plague mask-wearing dodos that seemed to be scattered throughout every floor, while others had been indescribable abominations that Uranus and the others had been forced to fight their way past in order to advance.
The four at last exited another vine-filled stairwell to discover a vast field of sickly yellow plants resembling wheat. Above them was a strange sky filled with dark-green clouds, and before the four travelers was a simple dirt path that seemed to go straight ahead.
"Well, this floor at least seems to be pretty straight forward," Mars observed.
Brunhilde nodded. "That's what worries me. It looks too straight forward. I'm sure there's some kind of trap waiting for us."
"Well whatever it is can't be any worse than the giant fish-headed mole rat thing we fought down in that swamp on the thirteenth floor," Jadeite declared.
Mars shuddered. "Don't remind me."
Suddenly the four heard barking coming from up ahead. Approaching them at a rapid pace were five living dog skeletons, each with trails of yellow liquid streaming from their empty eye sockets. Uranus raised her right arm into the air and a large ball of orange-gold light formed above her hand.
"World Shaking!" Uranus called out as she fired her signature attack at the undead hounds.
As soon as Uranus's attack hit, all five dog skeletons were instantly obliterated. The only sound that could be heard afterwards was the rustling of the wheat from the eerily gentle breeze blowing through.
"Let's hope those things are the worst we encounter on this floor," Jadeite declared.
Uranus stormed forward. "Let's just get going! We don't have time to waste just standing around!"
Brunhilde hurried and caught up to Uranus while Mars and Jadeite took up the rear. Within moments, Uranus and Brunhilde were walking side by side.
"Look, I'm sorry I got us into all this," Brunhilde told Uranus. "You and the others were right. It was a mistake to just barge in. I'll admit it's not the first time my overconfidence has gotten me in trouble."
"Just save it until after we save Neptune," Uranus responded.
Brunhilde let out a heavy sigh. "Look, I get that you're pissed, and you have every right to be. But one way or another, I'm going to help you save your lover from this Rita bitch. No one should have to suffer what I did at the hands of Hastur's minions."
Before Uranus could ask Brunhilde what she meant, Brunhilde sped on ahead. The four of them continued their trek across the dirt path in silence. As the minutes ticked by, the warriors hard no further encounters with creatures like the undead hounds they had faced upon their arrival on the floor, or with any other obstacle. Every now and then one of the strange masked dodos would pass in front of them, only to disappear back into the wheat. High overhead flew small red fish-like creatures with eyeballs for heads, but they seemed just as harmless as the dodos.
The dirt path at last came to an end and brought the four to a large circular clearing. In the middle of this clearing was a large yellowish-white egg with two legs sticking out the bottom. The legs were clad in black pinstripe trousers with polished back shoes. The entity was not standing still but doing what appeared to be squats. Uranus and the others merely stood at the end of the dirt path and observed the creature.
"Okay…what the hell?" Jadeite spoke.
"It seems harmless, but I'm guessing it's anything but," Mars assumed.
"It's annoying the crap outta me, that's for sure," Brunhilde declared.
"Dammit! We don't have time for this!" Uranus declared as she stormed into the clearing.
Suddenly the Eggman jumped high into the air and began to fly towards Uranus with his feet pointed at her for a kick. Brunhilde rushed in and tackled Uranus to the ground, taking her out of the kick's path. The Eggman's feet collided into the ground and raised a massive cloud of dust.
"The damn thing's not as harmless as it looks," Brunhilde observed.
Uranus jumped back to her feet and raised her right hand to the air to launch one of her signature moves. "World Shaking!"
As soon of the ball of light reached its proper size, Uranus launched the attack at the Eggman. The moment her attack hit the creature's shell though, it simply bounced off and flew right back towards Uranus and Brunhilde. The two Sailor Guardians were forced to dive out of the way in order to avoid getting hit. Mars raised her left arm towards the Eggman and a bow and arrow made of crimson flames burst to life in her hand. She pulled the arrow back with her right hand and aimed it right at the creature.
"Mars Flame Sniper!" Mars called out as she let the arrow fly.
The arrow of flames struck the Eggman, but just like before with Uranus's attack, the arrow bounced off his shell and flew straight back towards Mars and Jadeite. The two were forced to dive to the ground in order to avoid getting hit.
"So the damn thing can deflect our attacks," Brunhilde realized as she got back up.
Jadeite rose to his feet and drew his sword. "Maybe not every attack." He knelt back down and plunged the blade of his sword into the ground. "Ice Dragon's Mist!"
A white powdery mist enveloped the Eggman as he resumed doing his squats. Suddenly the creature's legs froze and became covered white icicles, whiles its shell was coated in a thick layer of frost.
Brunhilde smirked. "Nice! I think I can finish it from here."
Drawing her sword, Brunhilde charged at the Eggman and jumped high into the air with her blade raised. "I think I like my eggs scrambled!"
Brunhilde brought her blade down onto the top of the egg's shell, causing cracks to form all over its surface. The egg shattered, but suddenly a blob of black ooze spilled out and quickly started to expand. Brunhilde and the others were forced to fall back to the edges of the clearing as the mass spread. In a matter of seconds the blob started to take on a distinct shape, and from its top emerged an animal skull with long thick tusks. When its transformation had finished, the Eggman had become a noxious tentacled walrus-like creature and let out an ear-splitting horn-like noise.
"Okay! This is definitely worse than the mole rat thing!" Jadeite declared.
The walrus began to flail its tentacles at Uranus and the others, forcing them to repeatedly jump out of the way. Uranus and Brunhilde fell back into the wheat to avoid getting slammed by the beast's appendages.
"I'm getting tired of this shit!" Brunhilde declared as she thrust her sword forward. "Victory Arrow!"
Uranus fired off another World Shaking attack at the walrus at the same time. Both attacks hit the beast's black tar-like body, but the energy from the two blasts soaked into the creature like liquid being soaked into a paper towel. The walrus skull serving as the beast's head suddenly lit up, and it turned to face Uranus and Brunhilde. The beast opened its boney jaws and fired a powerful beam of white light down at the two Sailor Guardians. Brunhilde and Uranus were hit full force by the blast, and when the light faded they were both on the ground unconscious.
"Uranus! Brunhilde!" Mars called out, worried.
"Damn!" Jadeite cursed. "So now the thing absorbs attacks and sends them back with more force."
Mars quickly composed herself and looked back at the walrus. "Maybe not every attack. I need you to draw the thing's attention back to us."
"No problem!" Jadeite declared as he slashed his sword through the air. "Icicle Storm!"
A barrage of icicles flew from Jadeite's blade and struck the walrus's flabby black body. The icicles shattered on impact but only caused the beast's body to ripple. Right as the walrus turned its skull head towards Mars and Jadeite, Mars had already conjured her flaming bow and arrow and aimed it right as the walrus's head. Mars let the arrow fly, and the moment it struck the beast's skull, the skull shattered to bits and its body melted back into an amorphous black blob that soaked into the soil of the clearing. Mars and Jadeite both breathed a sigh of relief and quickly went over to check on Uranus and Brunhilde. To the couple's relief, both of their comrades were still breathing. After being shaken for a bit, Brunhilde and Uranus eventually regained consciousness.
"Where the hell's the freaky walrus?" Brunhilde asked.
"Mars figured out how to kill it," Jadeite answered.
Uranus sighed and got back to her feet. "Guess we owe you for that one."
"You can repay me by using your damn head!" Mars snapped. "I've come to expect this sort of thing from Brunhilde since she seems to be a natural hothead, but ever since we became trapped in this labyrinth you've been acting way too rashly! This time it almost got you and Brunhilde killed!"
"…You're right. I'm sorry."
Jadeite crossed his arms. "We get that you're worried about Sailor Neptune, but if we're going to save her we need to be smart about how we get to her. Remember, we're in the heart of enemy territory."
Suddenly the ground shook slightly, and pair of black doors suddenly sprung out of the dirt at the edge of the clearing. The doors seemingly led to nowhere, but Mars and the others knew better.
"Looks like beating that walrus unlocked the doors to the next level," Brunhilde observed as she rose to her feet. "We should get moving."
"Before we do, I want you to explain something to me," Uranus requested. "Earlier, you said you wanted to keep me from suffering what you did at the hands of Hastur's minions. What did you mean by that?"
Brunhilde sighed and turned to face the rest of the group. "Guess I might as well tell you since I spilled that much. My husband died because of Hastur."
"You were married?" Mars asked, stunned.
Brunhilde looked sadly up at the alien sky above. "Ages ago. He was a knight from Planet Eden, one of Sailor Eden's personal guards. He and I had a not-so-secret relationship that went on for years. One day, with Eden's blessing, he left his home world to live on mine, and soon after we were wed. Only days after our honeymoon though, Eden fell to Hastur."
"Sailor Eden was one of Hastur's undead brides, wasn't she?" Jadeite recalled.
Brunhilde nodded. "My husband blamed himself for what happened to his world and to his former queen. No matter what I or Lady Freyja told him, he felt certain that if he had been there, he might've somehow protected Eden. So he went back to try and liberate his world, and I went with him despite knowing it was a lost cause. Though I suppose I too hoped that we might somehow restore Planet Eden to what it had once been.
"By the time we arrived at the planet, most of it had already become a dead world. We fought our way straight to the castle and were immediately confronted by what had once been Sailor Eden. Both my husband and I tried to reason with her, thinking that there might be some trace of the old Eden left within her. But…as my husband attempted to reach out to his former queen, Eden killed him with a smile on her face. Afterwards I flew into a rage and attempted to kill the undead abomination, but because of her unbreakable body and the legions of undead creatures she had at her command, I was forced to retreat."
"I…hand no idea," Uranus spoke.
Brunhilde quickly wiped the tears from the eyes and turned back to face her. "I'll be damned if I let the same sort of thing happen to somebody else." She turned and stormed towards the doors. "Now let's go!"
Uranus and the others nodded and followed Brunhilde through the doors leading to the staircase that would take them to the next level of the labyrinth.
The sphere that Neptune had been watching Uranus and the others on vanished the moment the four had passed through the doors. Neptune wished she could continue watching, but was relieved to know that Uranus and the others were still alive and fighting. Suddenly Neptune heard the sound of Rita cackling. She turned to find the mad woman's face inches from her own. An insane grin unlike anything Neptune had seen before was plastered on Rita's face.
"So you and Sailor Uranus are lovers? I had no idea!" Rita declared. "I wish I had known sooner."
Neptune backed away, frightened. "What does my relationship with Haruka have to do with anything?"
"Oh, nothing…everything." Rita inched closer to her. "Right now I'm thinking you need to play a more active role in our little game."
One of the features Ami liked most about the mansion where she and the others were staying was it's extensive library. It contained books from all over the world and from various periods of history. Ami was browsing for something to read when she noticed Setsuna sitting at one of the tables, looking over an ancient-looking text and some notes she was making. There was a dark expression on the green-haired woman's face. Ami remembered the earlier incident from the control room and decided to go over and check to see if Setsuna was okay.
"Everything all right, Setsuna?" Ami asked. "You seem frustrated."
Setsuna let out a heavy sigh. "My research seems to have hit a dead end. I thought some of the books in this library might help me, but it appears I was wrong."
"Perhaps I could be of assistance. I do have a knack for research after all."
Setsuna looked seriously at Ami for a few moments. "Actually I think there might be something you could help me with. Can your computer interface with the computer in this base?"
"In theory, yes. But why?"
"Good then perhaps you could use your computer to access the classified files I was trying to examine earlier."
Ami gasped. "Setsuna! I couldn't possibly do something so underhanded. It would be wrong!"
Setsuna got up from her chair and put her hands on Ami's shoulders. "Listen, Ami. The information the Sailor Valkyries are hiding could prove vital to the protection of our kingdom. I'm only trying to prepare us to face some very dangerous threats that may come for us in the future."
"Okay, but still…"
"Ami, the fate of our kingdom may very well rest on you. I want you to think about that."
With those final words, Setsuna gathered up her notes, turned on her heel and left. Ami could do nothing but sink into one of the chairs for the table she had been standing by. She had never seen Setsuna look so serious before. Ami couldn't help but wonder if maybe there really was some very important information looked in the Sailor Valkyries' computer system, yet she knew it wouldn't be right to just hack in and steal it. In that moment, Ami had no idea at all what she should do.
