Chapter 1

Ok, so this is my first attempt at a yaoi fic. I hope I manage to write a good story for everyone.

After Eggman fled, cursing Sonic and his friends, the blue speedster jumped from the spot he had stood on with an excited cheer. "We sure showed Egghead!"

Tails laughed merrily and held his hand up for a high five. Feeling relief and joy at the gesture, the blue blur obliged. "We should celebrate tomorrow!"

"Great idea!" Amy chimed in. "Let's all have a picnic at the beach. We can have music and games."

Rouge glanced back at the spot where the prism had been. "I wonder what made Shadow take an interest in that thing."

"Who knows what that guy is thinking." Knuckles shrugged. "Should we clean up this mess Eggman left?"

Sonic grinned as an idea struck him. "I'll take care of it. The rest of you should go on and relax. It'll only take me a minute or two."

The crew stared at him in stunned silence before Knuckles spoke up. "I'm going home before he changes his mind."

Tails lingered after the other three had left. "You sure you don't need help?"

"Yeah, little buddy, I've got this." Sonic smiled broadly. "Go on and check on your latest invention. You probably have some upgrades planned already."

Chuckling, Tails nodded. "Yeah. Okay, see you tomorrow, Sonic."

Shadow sat atop the loop in Green Hills. The snarky hedgehog felt relaxed as he observed his real home. It wasn't the lifeless Ghost Hill. Closing his eyes, Shadow sighed. It's good to be home.

The ebony hedgehog sighed and opened his eyes and stood before facing his unexpected company. "Something you need, faker?"

"Well," Sonic replied as he rubbed his neck. "It hit me that I didn't get to thank you for everything you did during the journey through the shatterverse and getting the paradox prism out of that cave. So I thought you could come to the beach tomorrow and celebrate with us."

"Pass." Was the immediate response to the invitation.

"Come on, dude."The blue hedgehog gave an exasperated sigh. "How am I supposed to thank you then?"

The ruby eyes studied him for a long moment. "Don't worry about it."

Sonic grabbed Shadow's arm before he could get away. "Come on, there has to be something you'd like. You saved my life, it's the least I can do. So just name whatever you want."

Eyeing him, the dark hedgehog spoke. "Anything I want?"

The blue blur was suddenly nervous. "Y, yeah. As long as it's not too unreasonable."

Shadow considered the offer for a moment before grinning a little. "I guess there is something."

Laughing nervously, Sonic inquired. "So? What is it?"

The ebony hedgehog didn't reply as he stepped closer to his rival. Sonic backed up nervously. "Sh, Shads? What are you doing?"

The blue hedgehog couldn't back up anymore for risk of a long fall to the ground below. He glanced behind him for a moment then turned back. Shadow had gotten even closer, standing right infront of him. His dark rival suddenly put one hand under his chin to tilt up.

"Umm, Shads, what mmph …!"

Sonic's question went unfinished as tan lips pressed to his. His eyes went wide and he gasped upon feeling a hand on his lower back, pulling him closer. Shadow took the opportunity to deepen the kiss, slipping his tongue into the other's mouth. Sonic couldn't stop himself from moaning into the kiss as he wrapped his arms around the other hedgehog's neck. The smell of sandalwood and coffee filled his nose and he tasted bittersweet mocha on his counterpart's tongue. The blue hero's eyes had just closed when he felt Shadow pull away.

"You're welcome." Shadow's smooth voice whispered into the blue ear, causing it to twitch and making his heart race even faster.

Gasping for breath, Sonic opened his eyes. The other hedgehog had already vanished. Raising a trembling hand to his lips, the stunned hero blinked in shock. "Wha, what the ….?"
