"You're welcome." That soft, deep voice echoed in Sonic's head as his mind wandered back to events from his last meeting with Shadow.
" …Nic? Sonic?!" Tails's voice finally got through to the blue blur.
"Huh? Oh, Tails? Sorry, what's up?"
"I asked if you wanted to join me and Amy at Vanilla's for lunch?" The fox tilted his head as he looked over at his friend.
"Oh, umm. No. Sorry. I've got plans this afternoon. Maybe next time." Sonic replied before standing up.
"For the whole afternoon? Lunch won't be served till …." Tails tried to say only to find that the blue speedster had sped off.
Sonic stopped at the beach and looked around. The breeze still carried the faint scent of sandalwood and coffee. "Shadow, you coward! Stop avoiding me!"
Chapter 2
By evening, the blue hedgehog had been around Green Hills three times trying to catch his dark counterpart. Sonic sighed as he returned home after yet another failed attempt at talking to the hedgehog he couldn't get off his mind lately.
"Shadow, you jerk." The blue hedgehog grumbled as he shut and locked his door.
"Says the idiot who can't take a hint." A voice behind him made Sonic jump and spin around to find the object of his search leaning against a wall with his arms crossed.
"Then you really were avoiding me!" The speedster frowned at him. "You kiss me and then avoid me. That makes you a jerk."
"You said I could have whatever I wanted as a thank you. Next time, don't say what you don't mean."
"I mean I did. And, of course, I meant it. I just … I didn't think … of all the things to want as a thank you .…." The blue hedgehog felt his face heating up.
Shadow moved from the wall and took a step towards the azure hero. "I needed to confirm something. Your cooperation made things simpler for me."
Sonic backed up as he began to feel an odd fluttering sensation in his stomach. "Confirm? What are you even talking about?" He felt his back hit the door and turned around to unlock the door. 'Should I run?'
A gloved hand appearing next to his head made Sonic halt his attempts. "Now who's trying to run away?"
As the cobalt hedgehog spun around ruby eyes captured emerald. "I … I'm not." Sonic couldn't look away from those beguiling eyes. "Wh, what did you confirm, anyway?"
The black and red hedgehog put his free hand under that peach colored muzzle so Sonic couldn't look away. "Would you really like to know, hedgehog?"
The blue blur swallowed the lump in his throat before responding. "Y, yeah."
"All right, then. I'll tell you." Shadow leaned in a little. "I wanted to confirm my feelings for you." Ruby eyes studied his face before the ebony hedgehog captured Sonic's lips.
"Sh, Shads …." The blue hedgehog began only for Shadow to recapture his lips and deepen the kiss.
"Mmmmm." Sonic couldn't stop himself from wrapping his arms around Shadow's neck.
A deep growl was followed by the strong, dark arms pulling him closer. The blue speedster felt his pulse quicken as his legs began to feel weak. Both hedgehogs were panting when they parted with a thin string of saliva connecting their mouths.
Sonic was clinging to Shadow in order to stay upright. "I love you, you reckless idiot." The dark hedgehog scooped his rival up into his arms.
"Umm, Shads?" The blue blur had to ask a question before he chickened out. "Wh, what brought this about? I mean … I thought I was just an annoyance to you."
The dark hedgehog placed Sonic on his couch and took a seat before speaking. "Honestly, I didn't fully admit it to myself until you were drained of your prism energy. Seeing you like that made me feel helpless. And worried I'd never hear that annoying, cocky voice again. Or race you around. Then, carrying you back to Green Hills … feeling you fading in my arms. I don't think I've ever felt so afraid."
Sonic couldn't seem to get his mouth to form a response. "Umm … I …."
Shadow eyed the azure hedgehog and spoke in a low, soothing voice. "What about you, Sonic? Do you feel anything for me? More than just rivals or friends?"
A deep blush blooms across that peach muzzle. "I … I'm not the best at that type of thing. Kissing you made my heart race and I felt this strange ticklish feeling in my stomach."
The ebony hedgehog leaned closer. "If I kissed you right now, would you push me away? You haven't so far."
Sonic felt his heart begin to race again. "Sh, Shadow …." The blue blur breathed the name out softly.
The dark hedgehog seized those peach lips again before gently pushing Sonic down on the couch. The cobalt hedgehog didn't resist, closing his eyes and running his fingers through the soft, ivory chest fur that curled around his fingers. Shadow deepened the kiss. He couldn't get enough of the light, mint flavor of Sonic's mouth as his hands explored his rival's blue and peach body. He kissed the cobalt hedgehog over and over again, leaving Sonic breathless.
Trailing kisses along his jaw, Shadow lingered when he reached the soft flesh of Sonic's neck. He heard a soft gasp as the blue blur beneath him shivered and wrapped those slim arms around strong, broad shoulders.
"Like that, eh, blue?" Shadow's husky voice tickled the spot before he bit down.
"A, ahh ….:" Sonic whimpered as he squirmed under the dark body pressed against him.
A gloved thumb fingered his lower lip. "So, should I continue?"
All right, let me know what everyone thinks. Should I continue this story?
