The following evening, Lux sets off out of the City of Eden as they sail out to the open water. The demons are doing their duties with Mazikeen goes around to keep them in check. She even lit up the key parts of the ship. Lucifer and Amenadiel are at the quarterdeck with Lucifer looking out to the horizon. Amenadiel goes to Lucifer's side and says "So, we know where Michael is. Don't we, Brother?" Lucifer nods "He's in Hell" Amenadiel and Lucifer are aware that Michael is in Hell as both of them aren't watching over that realm. Amenadiel can be able to get to Hell but he better keep an eye on his little brother for he needs the support now. Lucifer has something else in mind. "That's not where we going" Amenadiel looks with confusion and decides to go along with it to see what he's doing. "Where are we going then?" Lucifer reveals the map to the City of Angels. "Los Angeles" Amenadiel replies "Los Angeles, at this time of the year" "Think of the beaches, dip your toes in the sand" Amenadiel brushes off the thought by saying "Lovely If you like the sand to mess up your suit," Lucifer thinks up the different reason "Think about the parties and alcohol" Amenadiel brushes off again as strong no. Lucifer starts to get all charming as a final attempt to convince him "Ah then the women. And the sex" That final idea made Amenadiel about to leave the deck in utter disgust. Lucifer saw where he was heading and stopped him. "Come on Brother!" Amenadiel turned with a mad look on his face. "He's your friend" Lucifer gets annoyed at the near reminder of Dan's sacrifice. "Listen to you. You sound like our mother back when she was around. Besides, Dan will be fine" "What makes you so sure?" "Because we both know that to get Dan to Hell, he needs to die and we angels are not allowed to take a human life. It's Dad's rules" Amenadiel responds sadly "So we're just running away?!" Lucifer can see how he's concerned about the situation but he assures him that everything will be fine. He announced to the demons that they would be sailing to Los Angeles to party. The news brings excitement to the demons.
Lucifer heads straight to the Captain's quarters. Muttering to himself about his frustration with everything that's going on. As he was about to enter, he found something that shouldn't be there. A young woman with blonde hair and he recognises her voice that it's none other than Detective Chloe Decker. It looks like she's looking at some souvenirs that Lucifer gathered through his adventures around the world. He managed to hide behind the door without making any noise. Once he made sure that Chloe didn't see him, Lucifer listened as Chloe listed out what she found in his quarters. Chloe once touched a delicate structure that shatter slightly which brought concern to Chloe. Much so for Lucifer. As it sounds like Chloe heads off towards a different part of the quarters, Lucifer puts on a charming face and starts slowly entering inside without making any noise. "… one of the plays from Shakespeare. This looks like a horse that belongs to Napoleon" Lucifer is right next to her ear and says "Impressive detective work" It startles Chloe slightly as she turns to see Lucifer not far from her. She immediately recovers with a straight face. Lucifer questioned, "What are you doing here?" Chloe replies with a serious answer "I'm here to make sure you get Azrael's Blade" Lucifer appears amused as he has just got threatened by a little human "Really? How do you propose to do that?" Chloe still keeps her straight face as she needs to be serious about the situation. "By any means necessary" Lucifer leans towards his desk and asks her some questions to which Chloe answers honestly. "Did you bring backup?" "No" "Do you know how to find Michael?" "Uh, no." That question got her stumped a little bit as she didn't have any clue on that subject. "Can you navigate on your own?" Chloe immediately answered "Yes I can but it won't change anything" Lucifer saw how headstrong she was. "One more question if that's all right with you?" Chloe nods in agreement while keeping a straight face. Lucifer asks the following question with complete eye contact. "Tell me, Detective, what do you desire more than anything else in this life?" Chloe just looks at him with a weird look. "What are you … Is this the trick that you're known for?" Lucifer ended up more confused than her. Usually, any human would tell Lucifer what their deepest desire is, whether they were simple or very complex, and he would manage to expose some truths and secrets from them. But for some reason, it appears to not affect Chloe at all. "You're not secretly a celestial, aren't you?" Chloe responded in defiance. Lucifer snaps back to what he intended to do with Chloe. "Anyway, I'm going to send you off, in a rowboat, and you can find your way back to the City of Eden since you said that you can navigate. We are going to Los Angeles" While he explains his plans to Chloe, he goes off to the counter and pours himself a drink.
Chloe follows him and leans to the wall beside him. "LA?" Lucifer replied in agreement with enthusiasm in his voice. "I guess that's true in a way" Lucifer turns to face her with confusion. "Lucifer, you're a very complicated being. Some say that you are the evilest being in the universe but there were moments when you were a very kind soul. So what makes you going to abandon a good friend to suffer …" Before Chloe could finish, Lucifer snaps back to give her a piece of his mind as he moves towards her while Chloe keeps a brave face on. "Hey! This is not my problem. I did not steal the blade" Lucifer went back to the counter to decide on a different drink. Chloe casually responds to Lucifer, "So you're just going to drink the problem away?" Lucifer didn't reply but it doesn't mean that he's not listening. "Because through the partying that you'll probably be doing in LA, one of the humans who have the upmost faith in you, is going to die" That statement angered him to the point that he slammed his glass to the bench and sharply turned to face Chloe who is about to stroll out of his range. "I had nothing to do with this and I also didn't do anything to make Dan take my place" In a calm way, Chloe faced Lucifer as he was getting close to her "Look, clearly you have your honour to restore then. And I have a way to help you with that" Lucifer got confused about what this simple human could do to a figure like himself "Really? How do you propose to do that?" Chloe gets close with an answer. "By asking yourself, what do you truly desire?" All Lucifer can do is stare while Chloe continues with "To show the truth in your claims and to do that, you need to get the blade back from Michael. Besides, from what I've heard, you wouldn't let the innocent get punished. Do you?" Lucifer thinks to himself for a moment. While Chloe is very stubborn, he can't help but see that she has a point. "Alright fine. Looks like we made a deal. Very impressive I might add" Chloe feels complimented but she doesn't show in front of him. "Looks like you're not the only one with a little mojo" Lucifer got more impressed. "Touché. Now, we will leave first thing in the morning" What happens next is that Lucifer prepares one of the areas in his quarters for her to sleep. To make sure that some of the demons won't make any bad ideas to her as well as for Lucifer to keep an eye on her. Out of all the encounters he had with humans on Earth, Chloe is by far the most different to any of them. It's like there's some special about her. That's something that Lucifer likes to find out more. But for now, he needs to be prepared for a journey ahead to the underworld.
