The karaoke bar was crowded and smoky and loud. The two women had to stand incredibly close, speaking in each other's ears to be heard over the horrible renditions of cheesy songs happening on stage. They probably looked a little ridiculous to everyone else, with messy hair and smeared makeup, but Arizona didn't care because the only person she was focused on was the woman the hips currently in her hands belonged to.
"Please?" The blonde asked sweetly, lips ghosting over the shell of her ear. She smirked when it produced a small shiver from the brunette.
"No."
"Come on, superstar." Arizona teased, pulling back just enough so their eyes could meet. "You can't tell me you like to sing then not sing."
"I regret telling you anything about me."
Arizona's blue eyes narrowed. The game of cat and mouse was driving her a little insane, but she couldn't deny that it was fun. She always loved the chase. The chase with Callie just happened to be the most enjoyable one she'd ever engaged in. "I'll be right back." She shot her a warning glare. "Don't move."
When she returned, she was carefully balancing four shot glasses in her hands. She passed two off to Callie, a cheeky smile on her face. "Hope you like tequila."
Callie laughed and rolled her eyes, but took both back to back without flinching. "Trying to get me drunk?"
Arizona giggled, wiping a bit of alcohol off the side of Callie's mouth with her thumb. She brushed the pad of her thumb over a plump lower lip slowly, teasing her. "A little liquid encouragement for your big performance."
"God," Callie let out a breathless laugh. "Do you ever give up?"
"No. You said it yourself. I always get what I want." Arizona tilted her head back to take her second shot, eyes scrunching a bit at the unpleasant taste. "Jesus, that's bad. I hope they knew I was kidding when I told them to give me whatever they clean the floors with."
"Wow. Can't even get me the top shelf stuff?" Callie hid a smirk.
"I will if you're a good girl and sing for me."
Callie's eyes widened slightly, one eyebrow arching. She shook her head a little bit in disbelief, the corners of her mouth twitching up into a smile. "You're unbelievable."
Arizona giggled, pleased with herself. She grabbed Callie by the wrists and wrapped those beautiful arms around herself, body melting into hers easily. "Are you an athlete?" She asked innocently, sliding her hands over her biceps and squeezing slightly. "Because you have very beautiful arms. You seem strong."
"I am not an athlete, trust me." Callie couldn't help the grin that spread, flattered. "My job keeps me pretty active though."
"Hmmm." Arizona hummed, hands sliding up to wrap around her neck. "I bet you could pick me up. That could be a lot of fun."
Callie rolled her eyes and appeased her, tightening her hands on her waist and lifting her with relative ease, just enough to barely dangle her feet above the floor, then set her back down. She smiled at the cute little squeal of surprise it earned her, Arizona giggling happily in her ear as arms tightened around her neck. The blonde, as annoying and full of herself as she was, was unfortunately very adorable. "Correction. That will be a lot of fun tonight."
"Is sex all you ever think about?" Callie's eyes narrowed, but she was smiling.
"When I'm in a beautiful woman's arms, yes." She tilted her head back slightly to look up at her, baby blues wide and a little sweet. "Just admit it. We have chemistry. Who are we to fight that?"
Before Callie could answer, they were interrupted by the announcer speaking into the microphone. "Next up we have… um, Florida and Arizona, everybody! Come on up."
Arizona actually beamed, looking very pleased with herself. "That's us!" She took Callie's hand and started making her way to the stage, the brunette incredulous behind her.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me, Arizona."
"What?" She shot her an innocent look over her shoulder, giggling to herself. "At least I signed us both up. You won't be alone. I'm very thoughtful."
"What if I don't know the song?!"
"Oh, you'll know it." Arizona waved her off. "Everybody knows it."
"I'm going to kill you. I'm not even joking."
Arizona stopped just short of the steps up to the stage, turning to look at the brunette with a delighted smile. "No you won't. Too many witnesses here." She pressed a surprisingly chaste kiss to her lips, tugging softly on her hand to pull her up the stairs. "Let's go, superstar."
They each took a microphone, Arizona dimpling and waving at the audience when a few people whistled lowly at her in her tiny dress. Callie tried not to look at the crowd, which unfortunately meant she was stuck looking at Arizona, who did not appear nervous in the slightest. The brunette envied her a little.
The opening chords to Iris started playing and Callie rolled her eyes, holding her microphone away from her mouth so only Arizona could hear her. "Seriously? You picked the cheesiest song in the world?"
"I like this song!" Arizona giggled unapologetically, stepping closer to the brunette as her blue eyes locked onto the lyrics on screen. She opened her mouth and started to sing, not great, but not the worst thing in the world either. She just found karaoke fun and she never really cared what she sounded like, but her voice caught in her throat a little when Callie started singing.
Because holy shit.
She hadn't expected her to actually be good. At least not good in any meaningful way. She had expected this to be silly and a little funny, something to tease her about after, but the brunette had one of the most insane voices she had ever heard. Velvety and strong and beautiful, just like her. Arizona swallowed, so wrapped up that she was unaware that she had stopped singing altogether and was just staring.
Callie noticed her silence, and she looked from the screen over to Arizona to check on her, a radiant smile working its way onto her face when she saw her expression. She sang to her for a few moments, slowly loosening up and gaining confidence, before she started moving around on stage, singing to random people.
Arizona finally recovered and started to sing again, keeping her voice quiet and the mic far from her mouth, letting Callie do her thing. She was grinning like an idiot, unable to hide her dimples. This had been an excellent idea. One of her best.
The crowd cheered when the song ended, Callie taking home the loudest applause of the night by far with a humble, embarrassed smile on her face. Arizona hopped off the stage and immediately whipped around to look at her, blue eyes wide in amazement. "You didn't tell me you could sing like that!"
"You didn't ask." Callie teased, secretly enjoying how impressed the blonde was. "And I'm still gonna kill you."
"I'll let you do anything you want to me after that performance."
"Did you just fall in love with me?" Callie joked. They pushed their way through the crowd, heading back to the bar to order more drinks. They didn't need to, though—a few impressed patrons had already bought Callie shots by the time they arrived, which she shared with Arizona.
"Madly," Arizona joked back. She set her empty shot glass down on the bar, turning to look at the brunette, eyes growing a bit more sincere. "Seriously, though, you're amazing. Don't ever be humble about that again."
Callie laughed and waved her off. "I think you're the last person I should listen to about anything involving humility. But thank you."
Arizona glared, blue eyes squinting. "You think you have me all figured out, don't you?"
"A little, yeah." Callie chuckled and sipped on her drink, ignoring the eye roll she was given. She looked around at the crowded bar before her eyes landed back on Arizona. "You ready to get out of here?" Arizona's eyebrows pricked, a pleased little grin slinking its way onto her face in a way that made Callie shake her head and laugh. "Easy, tiger. Not like that. It's just hot and loud in here."
"Where are we going?"
"I don't know. I thought you were my tour guide."
Arizona laughed under her breath, shivering when they stepped out into the freezing air once more. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to keep warm. "Well, it's 1:30 in the morning, so our options are starting to become a little limited."
The blonde's teeth chattered as she spoke, and something about it was so pitiful that before Callie knew what she was doing, her leather jacket was sliding off and around her shoulders instead. Arizona blinked her blue eyes up at Callie and felt her cheeks warm in a blush, biting back a smile as she pushed her arms through the coat and snuggled up into it, letting it warm her. It smelled like her, and she tried not to think about how much she liked that. "Thanks."
Callie shrugged casually as they continued to walk side by side aimlessly. "You have a lot less clothes on than me. It's only fair."
"At least we'll both have on none soon. That will be truly fair." Arizona smirked at her sideways, laughing brightly at the annoyed glare it earned her. "Come on, you set me up for that one." She poked Callie in the ribs playfully, and she smiled when she felt a strong hand come to rest on her lower back, drawing her into her side.
They were both tipsy as they walked. Not totally drunk, but just enough to where they were a little extra handsy and everything the other said was a little extra funny. They were in the middle of laughing about Arizona's very terrible impression of an Australian accent when the blonde suddenly stopped, darting her head around as she took in their surroundings.
Dark brows furrowed. "What?"
"Calliope, I don't know where we're going." She threw her head back and started to laugh like the realization was hilarious. "I haven't been leading. I've just been walking."
Callie groaned at her. "Okay, well I definitely don't know where we are. I haven't even slept in this city before."
Arizona smirked, swaying a little in Callie's grip. "If I'm lucky that won't change tonight."
"What is it going to take for you to give up?"
Arizona paused, golden brows furrowing. She turned to look Callie in the eyes, growing serious. "When you tell me you want me to give up." She looked at her expectantly, allowing her ample opportunity to speak up. At her pointed silence, her smug grin returned. "That's what I thought." She continued walking, humming Iris under her breath.
Callie watched her go. She looked so good in her jacket, a little oversized on her, falling off one shoulder as messy blonde hair whipped about in the wind. Brown eyes squinted and she caught up to her after a couple of seconds. "We should really figure out where we're going."
"I'm assuming they don't have freezing beaches in Miami?"
"What? No."
"Perfect. I'll show you one." Arizona smiled at her, eyes so blue under thick lashes that Callie had to force herself to look away. Those were dangerous eyes, far too easy to lose herself in. "We aren't too far."
She wasn't lying. They only walked about 4 blocks over before they came across an empty boardwalk, lit by soft orange streetlights and the moon. Callie could hear the familiar quiet crash of waves close by. Arizona climbed over a short wooden fence without second thought and started heading down the stairs.
Callie didn't follow. "Um… are we trespassing?"
Arizona paused on the step she was on and turned back around, laughing when she found Callie still behind the fence. "Kinda. It's public, just closed this late." She gestured to a sign close by, grinning at her. "They really should've built a taller fence." She shrugged a shoulder casually, then turned back around and continued her descent.
Callie groaned at how nonchalant she was about breaking the law, internally debating with herself. The sane and responsible part of her ended up losing, and she climbed over the fence and followed her down the stairs to the sand.
It was so different from Florida. Freezing, just like Arizona had said, and windier, with rockier sand and surrounded in the distance by the city lights of Seattle. She could see the snowy peaks of huge mountains beyond that. Arizona had found a large piece of driftwood and was sitting on it, watching the water as she kicked sand around with her feet. She looked beautiful, lit by nothing but moonlight.
She looked up when Callie sat next to her, dimples appearing. "Hey delinquent." She giggled quietly, cheeks pink from the cold. "Glad you decided to join me."
"I swear to god, if you get me arrested…" she breathed out a laugh and shook her head, face hurting a little from smiling. "It might be worth it. This really is beautiful."
"It is." Arizona smiled softly and leaned back on her hands, looking up at the sky. She had a pensive expression and Callie found herself desperately wanting to unlock it.
"Wanna go secret for secret?"
Arizona eyed her suspiciously. "Sure. But you first."
"Okay." Callie thought for a minute. "I'm a bad swimmer."
"What?" Arizona looked at her like she was crazy, a surprised laugh falling out of her mouth. "Shut up. You're from Florida."
Callie nodded. "I am. And don't get me wrong, I look divine getting a tan in a bikini on the beach." She didn't miss the way blonde eyebrows perked up at the mental image. "But I could live without getting in the water. I'm scared of sharks."
"Huh." Arizona grinned at her, surprised. She found it oddly endearing. "I wouldn't have guessed."
"Your turn."
Arizona pressed her lips together, considering. "I moved around a lot as a kid. Every 18 months, to be exact, because I was a military brat." Her eyes flickered back up to the sky. "And I got really into constellations for some reason, which is super lame. But I think it comforted me that no matter what changed around me on Earth, I was always under the same stars if I knew how to find them." She pointed, and Callie followed her line of vision. "That little zigzag is Cassiopeia. It's my favorite."
Callie looked for only a moment, then her gaze flickered back to Arizona, enraptured by her as she continued to speak. "It was named after this queen that was arrogant and vain." She gently elbowed Callie in the ribs, giggling under her breath. "Just like you like to call me. It's a Greek—"
"A Greek myth." Callie nodded her head. "I've heard it." Her hand absentmindedly started playing with Arizona's blonde hair as they talked. "I was named after a Greek muse. Calliope. She's the goddess of music."
Arizona smiled softly. "Well, that suits you perfectly." Her hand came up, resting over Callie's in her hair. Their fingers interlocked, strangely intimate. "Written in the stars for you to have that voice." She teased.
"Shut up." Callie rolled her eyes, embarrassed.
"And if I tell people I slept with a goddess it's not even an exaggeration!"
"Shut up."
Arizona giggled at the way Callie blushed, liking that she was capable of making her flustered. She licked her lips, eyes darting to Callie's momentarily before settling on big brown eyes. "Can I ask you something?" She was surprised how gentle her voice came out.
"Of course."
"Earlier. You said you had me all figured out." Arizona tilted her head a bit, eyes curious. "What do you see?"
Surprised by the question, Callie blinked and her fingers stilled in Arizona's blonde hair. "Do you want me to be honest?"
Arizona nodded. Callie took a breath. "Okay. Well. I see a very beautiful woman that knows she's very beautiful. And uses it. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but…" she shrugged. "I think you're a little spoiled and arrogant, but I think you mostly use that to hide yourself. I don't know why. I haven't cracked that part yet." She smiled warmly, genuinely not wanting to upset her, and reached out to poke one of her dimples. "I also think you hide behind sex because it's the safest form of intimacy to you."
Arizona swallowed, immediately regretting asking the question. The accuracy stung, and she suddenly felt very vulnerable and exposed, as if Callie was seeing right through her. She felt seen in a way that she wasn't used to. She tried to laugh it off. "You gathered all that in just a few hours with me?"
"Was I off?"
Arizona broke eye contact, staring down at the sand where she was drawing shapes with the heel of her shoe. Instead of answering directly, "There's nothing wrong with liking sex."
"No, there's not." Callie agreed. "I love sex. I just don't normally have sex with playboys. Male or female."
Arizona scoffed. "I'm still a person. I'm very smart and interesting and funny. There's a lot more to me than my sex life."
Callie stared at her, a single eyebrow arched. She kept her voice even and gentle. "Do you ever see the people you sleep with as more than sex? As well-rounded people?"
Arizona swallowed, taken back by the question. Because, honestly, no. She didn't. She shifted awkwardly, her voice coming out quiet. "I mean…I see you as more than that." It was honest and vulnerable and so uncomfortable to say that it kind of made her chest hurt, but it was true. She had learned pretty quickly that Callie was talented and complex and made her laugh and was fun to be around. She was interesting. And she just so happened to also be the hottest woman Arizona had ever met.
Callie's eyes softened but she didn't have a chance to reply, the sound of male voices down the beach interrupting them. Flashlights started to scan the area, signaling cops on patrol.
"Shit," Arizona hissed quietly, scrambling off the log and tugging on Callie's arm, bolting as quickly as she could to safety.
They ended up collapsing flat behind a bush, Arizona on her back, sand getting in her hair and up her dress. Callie was on top of her, hand covering Arizona's mouth to muffle the sound of her laughs. She could feel her belly laughing underneath her, and her brown eyes glared down at her as they laid in silence, nose to nose, still as statues as they waited for the cops to pass.
As soon as they were a safe enough distance away they burst into quiet giggles, Arizona's eyes watering as she laughed so hard her stomach muscles hurt. Callie watched her with a charmed smile, drinking in her dimples, her messy hair, the sound of her laugh, and finally quieted her by kissing her.
Arizona was surprised by the kiss but accepted it graciously, eyes immediately fluttering closed. Hands tangled in hair and lips parted and she whimpered softly when Callie's tongue slid into her mouth. She raised a bent knee to settle between Callie's thighs, grinning at the quiet moan the friction generated. She felt a strong hand groping her breast over her dress and she nipped at Callie's lip in retaliation, whining when the brunette broke the kiss to look down at her.
Her lips were swollen, eyes nearly black, voice raspy and breathless and lower than normal. "Come home with me."
"I thought you'd never ask."
Callie's apartment was filled with boxes waiting to be unpacked, creating an obstacle course for the two women as they stumbled to the bathroom without breaking physical contact. They were sandy from the beach and needed a shower—Arizona was sure they wouldn't have made it out of the cab, out of the elevator, out of the hallway as Callie struggled with her keys otherwise.
She fumbled with the button on Callie's jeans as they entered the bathroom, separating momentarily so Callie could turn on the water. She pulled her dress up and over her head, letting it fall onto the tile, and smirked at the lustful look Callie gave her. She was braless, nipples pink and ridiculously hard from the cold and her arousal, standing before her in only a tiny black thong.
"Good God," Callie purred, pouncing on the blonde again. She gripped her hips in her hands as they made out, lifting her onto the counter beside the sink, toothpaste and God knows what else knocked over and falling forgotten to the floor. Arizona yelped and let her head fall back against the mirror when a warm mouth wrapped around her nipple, already so, so sensitive from hours of daydreaming about this.
"Fuck." Arizona arched her back a bit, one hand falling to tangled black hair, the other resting above her head on the mirror. At this rate they wouldn't make it to the shower. "I've been thinking about having your mouth on me all night."
"Mmm?" Callie hummed around her nipple, making Arizona's hips jerk a little. "Is that right?"
"From the moment I saw you in the rain I—" She was interrupted as a moan tore from her lips, and she started to wiggle beneath the tan woman, growing needy. "I had to have you."
"You're a persistent little thing." Callie smirked, dipping back up to kiss her mouth. She felt Arizona push her jeans down and she stepped out of them, kicking them to the side, then pulled back to tug her own shirt off.
Arizona's mouth ran dry at the sight before her, infinitely better than anything she had conjured up in her imagination. The swell of her full breasts straining against a red bra, the soft womanly curves, the tan skin, the almost nonexistent piece of fabric separating her from finally being buried inside her. She nearly moaned just looking at her. "You are fucking perfect and I'm going to fuck you until you cry."
Callie's head fell back in a throaty laugh as she felt herself being pulled in, felt soft wet lips on her neck. "You sure about that?"
Arizona nodded against her neck, one hand reaching behind Callie to skillfully unhook her bra. "I'm very energetic. Very perky. I can go for hours." She nipped sharply at her neck, then soothed it with her tongue. "Will that be a problem?"
"Not at all. I drank that coffee for a reason." She moaned a little as the blonde sucked on her pulse point, untangling their bodies just enough to let her bra fall to the floor. She hooked her fingers through the lacy black fabric at Arizona's hips, pulling down until she was left completely naked. Arizona copied her, pushing Callie's underwear down desperately.
Their lips reconnected and Arizona slid down from the counter, pushing back on the Latina's shoulders, voice muffled against her mouth. "Shower. Now."
The second they were under the warm water, Arizona had Callie's back pinned to the cold tile, hot mouth kissing a trail down her body until she was sinking to her knees in front of her. She glanced up at her with hungry eyes and the smallest of grins, soaking in the view, memorizing it for a rainy day. Calliope Torres, wet and naked above her, head thrown back against the shower wall as she waited for Arizona's mouth to take her.
She was determined to welcome her to Seattle by giving her the best damn sex of her life. She used two fingers to spread her open, dipping her tongue to lick a slow line up her entire slit, and her eyes almost rolled back in her head at the taste.
"Fuck." Callie hissed, hands sliding into Arizona's wet hair to hold her there, jaw falling open a bit as her tongue devoured her. She wasn't sure she had ever had such a talented mouth on her, which was unfortunate because it meant every bit of the blonde's insufferable egotism had been justified.
She wasn't surprised though, not really. She knew she'd be killer in bed. She just hadn't expected to completely lose the ability to speak. She had her head thrown back, crying out indiscernible noises as Arizona sucked on her clit, and she nearly let out a scream when she felt two deft fingers slide into her.
Arizona easily found a perfect rhythm, thorough and mind-blowing, fingers curling inside of her just right. Callie's thighs started trembling, walls fluttering around Arizona's fingers, and she knew she was close.
Arizona could tell too. "Come for me." She hummed against her folds, the vibrations of it pitching Callie over the edge. She came against her mouth hard with a guttural noise that was so sexy Arizona had to press her thighs together, and the blonde meticulously lapped at her, not stopping until she was being physically pushed away.
She giggled as she stood back up, reveling in the way Callie's chest rose and fell rapidly. She wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, cleaning off her two fingers by sucking softly on them, maintaining eye contact.
Callie moaned wantonly at the sight of Arizona's pink lips wrapped around her fingers, and she shook her head a little, a breathless laugh falling out of her as she admitted. "You're good."
Arizona dimpled, eyes scrunching at the corners a little. "That was nothing. A little appetizer, if anything."
Callie rolled her eyes and kissed her. Arizona melted into it, sliding her hands up to her jaw, whimpering when Callie's tongue entered her and scraped across the roof of her mouth.
She felt hands in her hair, and it took her a second to process what Callie was doing, pulling back with a small giggle when she smelled the shampoo. "Are you washing my hair?"
"Yes." Callie grinned as she lathered the shampoo into Arizona's blonde hair, combing through the knots gently, working the rest of the sand out for her. Her shampoo smelled so good, warm like amber and sandalwood. Arizona's muscles relaxed a little, eyes fluttering closed as Callie's nails massaged her scalp. It felt good, and it was more intimate than anything she had felt in a very long time.
Callie pushed her head back until her hair was back under the water, rinsing the shampoo out thoroughly. Arizona let her. She had no idea what the fuck she was doing, why she was letting such a tender moment happen, other than the fact that it felt nice and she liked it. She thought she might like Callie a little bit, too, but that thought kind of freaked her out and she pushed it out of her head immediately.
She leaned into her in a sort-of hug, trailing her fingertips up and down her spine as the brunette worked conditioner into the ends of her hair. She hummed quietly, lips pressing a kiss to her collarbone. "Thanks. For getting the sand out."
"Of course." Callie smiled gently, laughing under her breath. "Your hair kind of got the worst of it."
"You did kinda push me down."
"You almost got us arrested!"
Arizona giggled. "I didn't force you to follow me down there."
"I know." Callie hesitated a little, rinsing the conditioner out of her hair for her gently. "I wanted to. You're an enticing person. I wanted to be with you." When she felt Arizona smirk against her chest, she rolled her eyes. "Don't let that go to your head."
Callie started to wash her own hair, and Arizona pulled back a bit to retrieve body wash, lathering it in her hands and cleaning herself up. The warm water felt impossibly nice after spending so many hours freezing.
When they finished up their shower, they dried off just enough to not be soaking wet, but not all the way because Arizona had grown a bit impatient. Her hand slid between Callie's legs, batting her big blue eyes at her with a smirk until she was being tugged into Callie's bed.
She always got what she wanted.
She straddled the brunette's hips with a delighted giggle, wet hair framing her face as she gazed down at her, blue eyes locking on brown. She looked so stunning that Callie froze for a moment, taking in the sight of her before her lust eventually won over, hand finally sliding between her thighs to give her what she'd been wanting all night.
Arizona gasped out a breathy moan, head rocking backwards, the ends of her long hair raking over the dimples on her lower back. "Please."
The blonde had been right earlier. She was pretty when she begged. Callie obliged, knowing she'd have plenty of time later to tease her, and her fingers plunged upwards and into her. She was obscenely wet and felt indescribable around her fingers. "Jesus. You're so tight."
Arizona whimpered, balancing effortlessly on top of her, hips rocking forward to practically fuck herself on Callie's hand. It was the hottest thing she had ever seen, Arizona all needy and desperate, moaning loud enough that Callie was certain her new neighbors would hate her.
Callie drove her hand forward in sync with Arizona's hips, sinking deeper inside of her, thumb brushing against her clit. The blonde dug her nails into the skin of Callie's stomach and moaned her name, long and drawn out and Callie knew she'd be replaying the sound of it for a long, long time.
She came harder and faster than either was expecting, high pitched, breathy little moans tumbling out of her as every muscle in her body went rigid and then suddenly relaxed. She collapsed flat on top of the tan woman beneath her, breathing hard as she recovered, face buried in her neck.
Callie's arms instinctively wrapped around her, rubbing soothing circles on her lower back. Arizona's voice was raspy when she finally spoke, throat dry and the tiniest bit sore. "Next," she pushed herself back up to sitting, a mischievous glint in her eye. "I think I want you to sit on my face."
Arizona hadn't been exaggerating about lasting for hours. She was ridiculously energetic, and every time Callie thought they were finished, the blonde would rally and initiate another round. They familiarized themselves with each other's bodies, experimenting with positions and learning what set the other off the fastest, mastering the exact way the other liked to be fucked. They didn't stop until Callie was sensitive and sore and knew she'd still be feeling the blonde for days. It was unequivocally the best sex she had ever had in her life.
She didn't tell Arizona that though. She definitely didn't need the ego boost.
The blonde was lying on her chest completely spent, panting for air, muscles sore from all of the strange angles she had stretched herself out in. She rolled her head to the side to check the clock on Callie's nightstand, laughing breathlessly when she found it to be 4 AM. Jesus. She pushed herself up weakly, shaking the slightest bit, and swung her legs over the side of the bed. "I need water." Her voice was raspy.
She paused at the door, eyes narrowing, then glanced back at the brunette still in bed. "Do you have a roommate? Should I put clothes on?" She probably should have considered that before all the screaming.
Callie laughed, and she sat up to dig around in a box waiting to be unpacked. She found an old sweatshirt from undergrad and tossed it to her. "I do have a roommate, but he's not here tonight."
"He?" Arizona's brow raised playfully and she tugged the sweatshirt on. It was warm and soft and smelled like Callie. "Do you have a husband I should know about? Because I'm really not into the whole homewrecking thing." She giggled, clearly teasing.
Callie rolled her eyes and laid back on her elbows. "God, no. Nothing like that. He's an old friend from school." Her brown eyes narrowed as she considered. "Well, we have slept together a few times, but it's not like that. He's my best friend." She stared at the blonde, at the way the sweatshirt fell to her mid-thigh, the way her blonde hair had dried curly and messy. She was so beautiful.
Arizona just laughed and shook her head before going to the kitchen to retrieve a glass of water, taking long, greedy sips at the sink before refilling it again. This was usually the part where she dipped. Actually, that part usually happened several rounds ago, after they had both gotten off and Arizona could consider that particular itch scratched.
Tonight was weird. All around.
She padded across the hardwood floor back to Callie's room, passing off the glass of water and crawling back into bed with her. She suddenly felt very, very tired, and she failed to stifle a yawn as she slumped down under the blankets.
She really should get going, she thought.
But the bed was so warm and Callie was looking at her with big brown eyes and she just wanted to curl up and sleep.
A huge part of her brain was yelling at her to get up and go home.
But then Callie was wrapping her up as little spoon, and Arizona melted, half asleep the second she was in her arms.
She needed to go.
Callie's voice was soft against her ear. "Are you going to be gone when I wake up?"
Arizona's eyes fluttered closed, surprising even herself with the answer that came. "No."
And for probably the first time in her life, she meant it.
A/N: I am so happy about the feedback from the first chapter! It makes me so excited that you guys are interested and it's so motivating to keep writing. Appreciate it so so much. :')
I fully intended to reveal why they end up hating each other here, but this chapter came out so much longer than I was expecting so I had to break it up. That will be next!
Just so y'all know, I start school again Monday. I will be in class/fieldwork from 6-5 everyday plus homework and extracurriculars so I'll be very busy, but I fully intend to keep writing this just with slower updates. I really enjoy writing and its become a hobby of mine, I'd rather write than watch tv or something lol
To the commenter that asked if the title was from the song True Blue—yes. And I love you
Please let me know what you think about this chapter, your reviews mean so much to me friends! :)
