A/N Azai, Xander and Ms. Calendar won't work as a couple anymore than Buffy and Angel will and for the same reason, their ages. Ms. Calendar is in her mid thirties, not to mention, his teacher. The ages are a fact that makes it illegal for either set of characters to be together at this point in time. But once Angel and Buffy both grow up a little, maybe they might work. But I don't see Ms. Calendar and Xander ever working, I would always be reminded of the ghost teacher, Grace Newman and her student, James Stanley. Mentally Xander might be a little older and more mature with leftover Dr. Strange stuff in his head, but physically he's still a sixteen almost seventeen year old boy and all that entails hormonewise and Ms. Calendar isn't Grace Newman, she prefers sexy fuddy duddys (her description of Giles) to teenage boys. So I'll be sticking to canon relationships which work.

But in a future story I might consider them meeting after he's done growing up, at which time the age difference will no longer matter. 😜

Buffy was a confused mess when she arrived home later that night, Xander's explanation of Angel's...state of being banging around in her head. As well as his statement about how the law would view their relationship. And her mother. Which was something Buffy had never considered before, how her mother would react and now she blanched as she realized Xander was probably right. Still, Angel was her boyfriend. Sort of. They hadn't actually made a commitment to each other yet. Well, excuse her, she'd died and had a weird summer trying to deal with that fact and Angel had been pissy when she came back from visiting her father and she'd humiliated Xander while trying to make Angel jealous and Angel had accused her of being a child! She wasn't a child and she didn't care what the law said, if she wanted to date Angel, she would.

Did he want to date her? He'd never actually asked her on a date, he'd said she was beautiful, he was attracted to her and kissed her. Then he saved her life. All that meant something, didn't it?

She stopped as she took in the scene in the dining room. Why was Cordelia here? "Cordelia? Did you need something?" She asked, wondering if this was Slayer related.

"Your mom saved me from JoJo the dog faced boy who tried to make me a chew toy and filled me up with hot chocolate. Incredible, made from scratch, hot chocolate. And Dawn has a developing fashion sense that you should pay attention to." The well built teenage cheerleader answered. "Her taste is much better then yours. Anyway, your Mom offered me a ride home and I'm going to take it. I'll see you tomorrow at school." Hinting that she hoped Buffy had an explanation for tonight's weirdness. "Plus, Dawn can tell you all about why the frying pan has a dent it. It's a great story." Cordelia grinned at the young girl, who beamed back.

Once Joyce and Cordelia had left, Buffy turned to her ten year old sister, having no knowledge of a time when Dawn hadn't existed. "What happened to the frying pan, butt pain?" She asked the annoyance known as a younger sister.

"Someone or something tried to break in and I hit it over the head with the frying pan." The ten year old answered. "So what weirdness happened tonight?"

"Nothing you need to worry about, Dawn." Buffy replied, heading for the kitchen and a snack.

"Buffy, you don't seem to understand, it's lack of answers that upsets Mom and me. You hiding things just makes things worse, not better. I hit something with a metal frying pan and dented the pan! That's not normal, Buffy. I may only be ten years old, but I know that." Dawn insisted.

"Some people have really hard heads." Buffy answered, sticking her head in the fridge and ignoring Dawn or trying to. Did she mention how annoying younger sisters could be? "So what did this guy look like?"

"I think he had a leather coat on, but that and dark hair is all I saw before he ran back out the back door."

Leather coat? Could Angel have been checking on her? That thought warmed her before the part where Dawn hit him with a frying pan registered. "Dawn! What if he was a friend checking on me?!" She raised her head out of the fridge and glared at the little sister who did not have better fashion sense then her!

"He didn't knock, he snuck in. A friend doesn't do that!" Dawn retorted. "Do you know who he was?"

"He might be a guy I know who wears a leather coat. I'll ask him if he stopped by tomorrow and make sure he's alright and you should learn to ask before hitting!"

"And if it was a would be thief? There's no way I could have known one way or another given the way he was sneaking in! He could have hurt me or Mom! I'm not sorry I hit him, whoever he was! And I was already scared, Buffy. Buffy, Mom fainted just a minute or so before that guy snuck in. She insists she's alright, but it was still scary." Buffy stopped being annoyed with her little sister and stepped away from the fridge and held her. "And then we heard Cordelia screaming and someone was chasing her and it's been a scary night, Buffy and we don't know why!"

Not knowing what to say, Buffy just held her.
