Xander set a small vial in front of Jenny Calendar. "What is it?" She asked, picking it up and examining the small vial.

"If the comics are to believed, The Serum of the Seraphim." He answered. "But I have no idea if it actually is that or if it'll do what's claimed it'll do."

"What exactly is it claimed to do?" She glanced up.

"Heal any illness or injury, restore a person to perfect health."

Jenny nearly dropped the small vial. "Using Magic to heal is very dangerous and almost never goes right." She protested. "There are almost always side effects and just because the writers made it work in the comics, doesn't mean it will in real life." She warned.

"I know, hence my dilemma. That vial is the only one I have and just those few drops might be enough to cure Cordy's mother. But they might also kill her or mutate her. I have no evidence outside the comics that it works. On the other hand, we may be able to make our own version."

"How?"

"I summoned a Mohra demon to use its blood to revive Willow on Halloween, I preserved it in the medical bay. It's blood is called the Blood of Eternity and they were hunted nearly to extinction for it. They can regrow severed limbs and destroyed organs because of their blood. Most of Giles references that mention them, mention the blood being used to revive people, there's no mention of it being used to cure diseases. But what if it can?"

"How much blood did it take to revive Willow?" Jenny asked, curious about the possibilities.

"Probably no more than what's in that vial." Xander replied. "I cut its body with the tip of a knife, enough to coat the first few centimeters of the blade and cut Willow's arm and mingled the blood, basically by using the knife to mix the blood with her own."

"If a few ounces is all it takes to revive someone who's died, it'll take considerably less to cure a human of sickness or heal an injury." Jenny speculated. "This needs to be researched carefully, Xander. I need to track down anything I can find referencing Mohras and their blood and see if anyone's experimented with it. How big is a Mohra?"

"Adult human sized."

"And a human's blood volume is about 10 percent of their total mass, Morhas may have an equivalent amount. If even a few drops can cure illness, that one body may be able to cure hundreds, even thousands of people. But it's a finite resource and we have no idea what the long term effects might be." Jenny cautioned. "And neither of us are qualified to do the research."

"I know, but I am in a position to start a foundation dedicated to studying the blood and its potential applications and an artificial way to replicate it." Xander pointed out. "We'd have to screen employees very carefully, they'd have to be familiar with the existence of demons in general, as well as have medical training. It could take decades, but the outcome could be well worth it."

"A cure might come too late for Cordelia's mother." Jenny said softly, sympathetic to both Xander's helpless feeling and desire to help in some way and Cordelia and her family and what they were going though.

"But it's a start, isn't it?" He asked hopefully.

"It's a start." Jenny confirmed. "I'll start tracking down anything I can find on Mohras and go from there." She promised.

"And I'll continue to go through my inventory, I may find something else that can help Mrs. Chase and start researching how one actually starts a foundation." Xander grinned at his 'Ancient One'. "Thanks, Ms. Calendar, at least you didn't shut the idea down entirely."

"It has merit." She answered. "We may find it's impossible to do, but we need to consider the possibilities before we get to that point." She handed the vial back to him. "Keep that under lock and key, if it comes down to it, that may save someone's life. The things you have responsibility for...Xander, I wouldn't wish for it. You've only just turned seventeen, it's a heavy burden to carry for anyone, but for someone so young...but you're being responsible and careful and I'm proud of you taking it on and how well you're managing "

"I've got help, I don't think I could do it alone, Ms. Calendar. And I know I've been leaning on you a lot, but...I trust you and that's a really hard thing for me to do." He admitted. "You and Mrs. Summers are the only adults I do trust right now."

"That means a lot, Xander." She smiled gently. "Thank you. I'll see you later, I need to get going. Rupert's still upset about the computers being set up in the Library, so I'm making him supper, to help him relax."

"More upset than about being fired? Who am I kidding, the computers of course upset him more." Xander shook his head. "He's Book Man, saving the day with the knowledge in his books."

"He keeps ranting about the computers." Jenny grinned. "The sooner they find a new Librarian, the sooner he can be away from those 'abominations.' Is it any wonder he drives a car Willow can outrun? It's like the books he cherishes, older then him."

Laughing, the two went to pursue their self appointed tasks and each hoping to help someone they loved.
