A/N Kenn, to answer your question, in the comics Oz and his mate have a child together, nothing in canon suggests any difficulties or changes in reproductive for a werewolf verses a normal human pregnancy. But werewolfism is inherited, so their child would have been born a werewolf.
Sphygmus, someone should make a movie, Werewolf on the Moon and then we'd know the answer to your question. 😄
If you've ever looked at a moon phases calendar you'd see why a werewolf could transform the day before, of and after a full moon. The day before and after the moon looks pretty full. Moon rise and moon set is about twelve hours apart according to various websites. It takes about six hours to rise to its zenith and six hours to set below the horizon. A full moon begins rising within minutes of sunset. In Southern California in January, which is when this episode aired, sunset would be about ten minutes after five p.m. So the moon would set around five a.m.
The fictional Sunnydale is located where Santa Barbara, California is in real life, maps of Santa Barbara County are used on the show with Sunnydale superimposed on them. The San Pedro National Forest runs through this area.

When Buffy was told the possibility that Willow and Oz might be werewolves and that a pair had been magically traced to the National Forest she took off running in that direction, it wasn't much of an exaggeration to say Willow could outrun Giles' car and Buffy most definitely could outrun it. Once she'd reached the Forest she began searching it. Better than average sight and hearing gave her an advantage in the dark forest, she hoped it was enough to find her friends if they were here.
Xander usually enjoyed the exhilaration of riding Cordy's Pegasus but right now all he could feel was fear for his friend and what condition he might find her in. He flew low over the Forest but it being night the Forest was full of shadows and he just couldn't make anything out. Tall Sequoias made it hard to even see any ground and even when he flew low all he did was scare birds and other animals. And let's not forget the mountains, huge as they were, that bordered the National Forest. Maybe during the day this might have worked, but at night, it just wasn't working. He kept circling until dawn, exhausted as he was, he refused to give up. He'd occasionally set the flying horse down so she could get some rest, eat some grass and get a drink, but then they'd take to the air again. Fruitless or not, he had try.
Cordelia glanced at her watch as she sped toward Willow's house, just after ten. How long could it take to search the National Forest at night? Way too long was the answer to that question. Anything could happen to the pair of them long before anyone ever found them. She parked in front of Willow's house and quickly exited her car, she found the front and back doors were locked and no one was answering her knock. For all she knew they could be unconscious in there. Cordelia circled the house to where the balcony outside Willow's bedroom was, not an uncommon thing, balconies off bedrooms, she had one herself. She tried something she'd never tried before, used her new strength to jump up and grab the lower end of the rails around the balcony and used them to pull herself up. Once on the balcony she found this door unlocked and began searching the two story house. Not long after, a grim Cordelia exited, having found no one and headed for Oz's family home. When no one answered there, she broke the knob on the backdoor, she could pay to repair it tomorrow, for now the house had to be checked. Unfortunately it too was empty and feeling more frustrated, as well as scared, herself, Cordelia did the only other thing she could do. Drive to Xander's and wait for him to come home
By dawn it was clear, no one had found Oz and Willow. But dawn did give Xander a better chance of finding them so he tried one more time before returning to the Sanctum where he tied the Pegasus in the shadow of the house and went inside to find Cordelia and Jenny waiting for him. He fell into his bed, exhausted.
Willow cautiously sat up and tried to figure out where she was and looked over at her equally naked companion, who turned out to be Oz, who was also waking up as the sunlight hit them.
"Huh." He said. "Where?"
"Along with what and how?" Willow asked, close to hyperventilating as she tried to figure out what was going on, where they were and how they got there. The sun could be seen at an angle shining through the trees. Sequoia trees. A clue!
"Sequoia trees." She gasped. "The National Forest has Sequoia trees!"
"Might answer where." Oz agreed. "Not what and how."
"Or the naked! Mutual naked! What did we do?!" She started seeing spots as Oz moved to rub her back and try to calm her down. He was pretty freaked himself.
"Sun rises in the east. National Forest is on the south end of Sunnydale." Oz reminded her and himself. "Miller Woods, Cordelia's and Xander's places are on the north end. Desert on the other side of Miller Woods and the east side of Sunnydale. Ocean is on the west side."
"Than we need to go north to get back to Sunnydale." Willow concluded. "Provided we haven't ended up somewhere much farther away from Sunnydale. What's the last thing you remember?"
"Going to pick you up so we could help find a werewolf." Oz's eyes went wide as did Willow's.
"Oh. Crap! Does that answer what and how?"
