Jayne got to Albany quickly, taking a cab over to Joe's place. She knocked on the door and was immediately greeted by a warm hug by Rose. "Oh sweetie, we are both so happy you are here."

Jayne embraced her. "I wouldn't be anywhere else."

JJ was sitting in the other room, staring at a picture of his dad. How could he be gone?

Jayne walked up behind him. "That's a great picture of him."

JJ turned around and embraced her. "Thank you for being here."

"Like I told your gran, I would not be anywhere else." Jayne hugged him tightly and then looked at JJ. "Have you eaten?"

Rose spoke up. "He has not, I'm actually about to make something for us both."

"Why don't we order something? You two both need to take it easy." Jayne suggested.

"I could really go for some pizza. Every Friday night, growing up, dad would take me to get a pizza and see a movie." JJ tried to smile at the memory.

Rose gave him a hug. "You were the best thing that ever happened to him, I remember when he lost your mom and asked me to be even more involved. He just didn't want to mess up. He needed that village."

JJ didn't want to fall apart. He hugged the only grandmother he had ever known, the only mother figure.

Jayne ordered pizza, and the three sat down to wait. "You know I remember when I met him, I immediately knew he was a good one."

"He was very fond of you. When I told him we had bumped into each other, his day was made." JJ replied.

"I remember him asking me if I had ever been to Port Charles because I reminded him of someone, I guess that was mum." Jayne hadn't really thought of that much until now.

"When I told him who your parents were, he told me he knew it. You carried yourself so much like your mother and had a lot of her mannerisms." JJ told Jayne.

"He also told me what an incredible son he has. He was so proud of you." Jayne took his hand.

The doorbell rang. "I've got it." Rose went to get it, needing a moment herself.

JJ squeezed Jayne's hand. "He gave me some advice before we lost him."

Jayne looked into his blue eyes. "What was it?"

"To not waste a moment, to..." Before JJ could finish, Rose was back in there.

"Pizza time. Would you mind grabbing us some plates, Jayne?" Rose asked.

Jayne shook her head. "Not at all." Jayne went and got the plates.

JJ did his best to keep himself together. Rose went over and gave him a hug. "It's okay to not be okay."

JJ hugged Rose. He didn't feel he would ever be okay.

Jayne brought the plates out. "I hope I still know your favorite."

JJ was able to smile. "You remembered"

Jayne looked at him as she handed him his plate. "Of course."

The three of them ate pizza, Rose, and JJ both sharing stories from over the years. Jayne was fascinated by them and loved seeing the love in their eyes.

"He was really incredible, wasn't he?" Jayne smiled.

"Gave the best advice." JJ looked at the stairs, wanting his father to come down them, but he knew it was a dream.

"Why don't we all get some sleep? We can make plans to bring your father home in the morning." Rose suggested. She was exhausted and could tell JJ was too.

JJ gave her a hug. "Lean on me if you need me, Gran."

Rose nodded and squeezed Jayne's hand. "Goodnight." She left the room.

JJ looked at Jayne. She really did just spend the whole evening laughing and crying with them. Holding his hand and his grandmother's. "Thank you."

Jayne looked at him. "Thank you, I got to know your dad better."

JJ remembered his dad's last advice to him. "You know he told me not to waste a moment."

"My mum told me something similar, stop getting in the way of myself." Jayne told him.

"If I believed in fate, I would say that maybe that's a sign." JJ had had a hard time buying into that, especially after they ended.

Jayne moved closer to him, looking into his eyes. "Don't worry, I believe enough for us both." She wrapped her arms around him, kissing him tenderly.
