"We can't have you walking around town like that," Izuku said, examining Dimentio's blood-stained clothes. "Everyone knows what you look like now. If I want to try and help you, I'm going to make sure you aren't being targeted from everyone else."
Dimentio looked at his poncho. "Why? This is what I wear, and have worn for years. This is my style."
"It won't do." Izuku shook his head. "Plus, it's outdated."
He rolled his eyes with a small scoff.
"Plus, the blood is not a good image."
"Alright, fine. You do make a fair point with that argument."
"Here, I have a few clothes I don't wear that you can use." He went through his drawers. "I'm lucky none of us had bad injuries, besides your broken nose. The cast isn't getting in the way, is it?"
"No."
Izuku stopped. "Are you okay? You sound so sad."
"The nurse..." He touched a hand to his cheek. "She stared at me just as I thought she would. Just as they all do. She looked at me like I am a monster."
Izuku wanted to say "well, you are a villain," but realized sass was unwelcome, and stayed silent.
"It was because of my arms, wasn't it? Or was it my eyes? Perhaps it was both. And even the scars on my face raise questions."
"You're fine, Dimentio. Plenty of heroes and villains have scars. And most hospitals care for heroes and villains. I mean, they get paid pretty good from it." Izuku held up a white button-up shirt. "What do you think?"
"Can I choose something instead of letting you do it? I may be 'outdated,' but I do know fashion." He shoved Izuku aside, grabbed a few things from the drawers, and left the room.
Izuku looked back over the plan. Arrive, eat, find their rooms...Dimentio came back, wearing something Izuku didn't expect to be Dimentio's "style."
He wore the white shirt with a sleeveless suit with a wide collar. He still wore his pants, but with boots instead of shoes. The sleeves of the shirt were loose and seemed to float around his arms rather than touching them. He also kept his gloves, minus the decorative ribbon and bells that were on them before.
"Well?"
"Where did you get that suit, and those boots?"
"They were only in case I needed them. I have always kept some extra clothes on me." His hair was pulled into a low ponytail, and he had a new mask that looked just like his old one.
"Dimentio, the mask."
He grabbed it. "No! I cannot leave this!"
"Do you at least want a different one?"
"It is this, and only this."
Izuku sighed. "Okay. But I need to head off to school. Since I'm in charge of watching over you, I have to bring you with me. But, I can show you how heroes are."
"Try then."
Izuku kept his word and brought Dimentio with him. He gave Dimentio a face mask and sunglasses to cover his face, without using his other mask. He was reluctant, but listened. He sat in an empty seat in the classroom. The students looked at him as they entered, clearly not recognizing him.
"New student?" Kana asked.
"No, you should know him." Izuku giggled. "Apparently you look like a completely different person now. That's what I wanted."
"It is not what I want," Dimentio said.
"Oh, you need a disguise name."
"Dimitri."
"Dimitri? Why that name?"
"It just...feels right." He watched Olive sit down next to Ashi. "Olive, you are still in that form."
Olive looked at him. "G-what? Who even are you?"
"I should have expected them to not recognize me like this, but you of anyone should know my voice."
Olive jumped to his feet, flinching back. "D-Dimentio?!"
"Hello, Olive."
Netsu jumped from her seat as well. "What do you think you're doing? If you want Midoriya, then you'll have to-"
"Hang on," Izuku said. "He's with me. I made a deal with him. You can sit down."
They both sat down, the entire class watching him with suspicion.
"He promised not to attack anyone or anything as long as we're doing this. The deal, if he decides to go through with it, is that I show him reasons why he should change his mind about the world. In return, he won't injure anyone."
"But you said nothing against planning your demise~" Dimentio chirped.
Izuku cleared his throat. "Okay...Moving on. This week, we have a field trip!"
The class cheered.
"Where are we going?" Yoshiro asked.
"Great question!" Izuku straightened the papers he was holding. "You see, in order to learn about heroes, it's best to meet them yourself. Since you know all the heroes and heroines in Japan, I got permission from the principal to take you to China. It's best to see not only how different heroes perform, but also to see how they would do it. Different areas have different rules for heroes, you know."
Dimentio seemed unamused. "China?"
Izuku nodded. "Yes. In order to participate in the field trip, you'll need your parents to sign this permission form. Don't forge their signatures, if you can't make it, let me know. If your parents won't let you go, I'll find another way to make sure you can participate too." He got from his seat and handed papers to every occupied desk. "But to our lesson for today..."
Izuku told Dimentio "pay attention in class, you might find something that will help you" before bringing him in. Of course, Dimentio knew Izuku would fail his plan. After all, what did an amateur know of being a hero? He claimed they didn't kill, but Mario...Mario killed villains all the time. If he was a hero as Izuku claimed, Antasma, Cackletta, and plenty of other villains would have survived. Unless...Unless Mario saw all villains as too dangerous to let live. He chuckled. That means Mario feared them. That means Mario feared him. Being feared was something Dimentio always was. Whether it be his friend or a hero, they called him crazy, and deadly.
So what if he was mad?
It only made the world much more fun.
"I loved your bravery during that fight yesterday," Izuku said, dragging Dimentio's thoughts back into the room. "That is an important part of being a hero; bravery."
"And yet you mock mine?" Dimentio scoffed. "I am plenty brave..."
"How then? How are you brave? If you think you're a hero, tell me how you are."
He smiled. "Did I touch a nerve? You got so aggressive over nothing." He folded his arms. "Alright, you want the truth? Piper was one of my old friends. And her weapon was a nod to her death."
"That's not bravery."
"Really? I find it plenty brave to confront your issues. Unlike the heroes you grew up with. They left everything to a bunch of uneducated children! Imagine that! The heroes you look up to could not even handle their own problems! If they could, you would not have been attacked during school~"
Izuku scoffed. "We'll see about that. And that's not bravery. That's more like...weaponizing your past."
"Alright."
Dimentio found no need to fight Izuku on it anymore. He clearly had no clue what bravery really was, and thought he could convince Dimentio of it. Izuku was amusing. He had a black-and-white way of thinking. Heroes were meant to save people. Shouldn't they be allowed to do what it took to achieve that goal? Villains did as such, so why should heroes be any different? He watched Izuku write things on the board behind him, then send his students off at the end of class. He approached Izuku's desk.
"What a fool you are. You think you can change my mind with these petty teachings of yours. But how will you change me when you preach against my beliefs?"
"Dimentio, I don't know what your problem is, but murder is not the solution."
"It is more like a question. Sometimes the answer is yes, whereas sometimes it is no. It depends on the situation, and how irate the target has made me. Take Mimi, for example. She irritated me greatly, and yet I never tried to kill her."
"Mimi said you did."
Dimentio jolted. "You have met Mimi? I thought that she would have went back home, after the situation with the Chaos Heart...What else does she need in the Mushroom Kingdom area in order to stay?"
"Dimentio, you collided two entire worlds. That means more than just the Mushroom Kingdom is-"
"I know what I had done! But the Mushroom Kingdom was dragged into Japan! So that means, if you met Mimi, she was in the Mushroom Kingdom! So what was she doing in the Mushroom Kingdom?!"
Izuku stayed silent.
"Hmph." Dimentio fixed his glove. "I thought so. You have no clue either. Do not judge me before you get to know me, Izuku."
"Well...You're part of this class. You need to sign the permission slip too."
"But I have no intention of coming."
"Too bad, you need to come. This field trip was chosen specifically with you in mind. So you have to come."
"And if I refuse?"
"I will handcuff you to my wrist and drag you there."
"Are you teasing? You would not actually do that, will you?"
Izuku raised an eyebrow.
"Alright, I will not battle you about this any longer. Fighting with words is a waste of energy anyhow. Like electric carts!"
Izuku stared at him, confused.
"I digress. Fine. I will sign your slip. But only for the sake of wanting to watch you fail. I love playing games, Izuku." He slammed a hand on the desk, making Izuku flinch. "So I will play your game for now. But if another offer opens for me, you can expect me to turn against you like the snap of a finger!"
He snapped, then looked at his hand. He snapped a few more times, panic coming to his face. He jumped, fell, and slipped on the floor. He landed on his back. He slowly got back up, rubbing his back the best he could.
"Izuku...I lost my magic."
"HUH?!" Izuku hopped from his seat. "What do you mean, you lost your Quirk? Don't you need that to undo...everything?!"
"I had it before...But after Olive and the Chaos Heart..." He slowly got to his feet. "The Chaos Heart Entity...it took my magic when Olive tore the Chaos Heart from me." He looked at his arm. "And if not stolen, then blocked. But it might be stolen. If my magic were blocked, I would be able to tell. But it did not take it all. My arms are made of my magic, and without it..."
"You'd die?"
"Not quite. Without my magic, my hands would no longer be connected to me. So they would fall off. And that would be a horrific sight."
"Yeah, I don't want to see that either."
"...Izuku."
"What is it now?" He rubbed the bridge of his nose, falling back into his seat.
"I have no parent or guardian. Although I am an adult, your slip says it is 'required' for a higher power to sign. I cannot be granted permission otherwise."
"Dimentio, just sign it. I'll handle the rest. Stop trying to find loopholes in everything."
"Izuku!" Dimentio gasped, lightly tapping a hand to his chest. "You should know I am a master of many things! One of those abilities, of course, is deceit."
"Lying is not something to brag about."
"And neither is your worthless Quirk, Izuku. Neither are you."
