A/N So, Dawn's going to be practicing her portal making ability and making some mistakes. I already know at some point they'll meet the real Sorcerer Supreme, but what other people do you want them to meet? 😄

"Hey, Johnathan, got a second?" Johnathan heard a voice on the other side of his locker the next day and closed it to see Amy Madison, someone he'd known since Grade School, but didn't interact with much.
"Sure, something up, Amy?"
"I heard you're a Scooby now." She told him, leaning against the lockers.
"You too?" He asked.
"Mmhm." She nodded. "Since February, Xander thought I could use the checks and balances of a group to keep me out of trouble."
"Were you doing something that could have gotten you in trouble?"
"Yes, though at the time I didn't think of it that way. But what he caught me doing definitely violated ethics, at the very least. And could have led to me ending up like my mother." The two fell into step together heading for their classes.
"Where's your mother? And what did she do?"
"She's right here." Amy pointed at the trophy case. "Watch the eyes of the cheerleading trophy. She won that trophy when she was in High School and wanted to relive her glory days. She did it by switching bodies with me. Than she hurt other people trying out for cheerleading, including Cordelia, who could have died because my mother struck her blind while she was taking her driving test."
"No offense, Amy, but your Mom sounds crazy." Johnathan watched the eyes move and shivered, that was creepy.
"Most definitely, hence why I don't want to end up like her."
"So you got superpowers from her, they can be inherited? Does that mean any kids I have will be like me?" Which was most definitely not a pleasant thought.
"We're like Xander." She answered, knowing he'd understand she meant they did Magic. "And I honestly have no idea if your condition is inheritable, it's a very rare thing to happen. But if it is then you'll just teach your kid to be responsible. And like Xander likes to say, you're not alone. That's the point of the Scoobies, I think, to have people you can depend on "
"That and being friendly neighborhood monster investigators." Johnathan joked. "Which is how they introduced themselves when they realized I had a...condition."
"It's not a joke, actually." Amy said softly. "They've investigated and solved a number of problems, including my mother. She ended up in that trophy because she tried to kill Buffy and Buffy reflected her attack back at her. Considering the pain and misery my mother inflicted, it's a fitting punishment."
"If they really do those kinds of investigations, than I should tell them I saw some... individuals doing something at the museum the other night. Given who or rather what, those individuals were."
Amy nodded seriously. "They're the people who can do it."
"Don't you mean we're the people?" Johnathan smiled slightly. "Given we're Scoobies now."
"Huh." Amy looked surprised. "You know, they haven't had a case since I joined up, but I think you're probably right. It's certainly a responsible way of using our abilities, isn't it?"
"Like the Justice League or something." Johnathan agreed.
"Justice League?" Amy hadn't heard the reference before.
"A comic book series."
"Oh, like the Sorcerer Supreme, Xander used one of his spells to destroy the vampires."
"He did? And should we be talking so...openly?"
"I'm pretty sure most of the people around here, at least at the High School, have some idea of what used to go on in this town." Amy told him. "Most of them live by unspoken rules that only develop from being around things like what happens in Sunnydale. They're very pointedly not looking at us, which tells me they're only pretending not to listen. But at one time or another, they've seen the Scoobies stop something or help one of them regarding the things they aren't talking about."
Johnathan looked around and realized she was right, people were sort of side eyeing them and no one was panicking and reaching for pitchforks. How blind had he been not to have seen anything himself?
"How bad was it, before?"
"On average a couple thousand people disappeared in Sunnydale every year, the number has dropped to nearly zero." She answered, looking pensive. "Because a group of kids decided to do something about it. And that was when only one of them had any... abilities. It's been a year and a half since they started."
"Woah." Johnathan breathed in awe.
"That pretty much sums it up." Amy agreed. "Well, here's my class, like I said, welcome to the Scoobies, Johnathan. Have a great day."
"You too, Amy and thanks." Johnathan continued on to his own class, lost in thought, passing students who carefully didn't look directly at him. But did glance at him as he walked past. He heard a few scattered words.
"Like Summers -."
"Stopped something that was way ugly -."
""Helped my brother -."
People could turn on you in a heartbeat out of fear and Johnathan had been an avid fan of sci-fi, aliens and comic books long enough to know that good will didn't always last. He'd keep his guard up, but for now, publically acknowledged or not, it seemed his fellow classmates might just know that the Scoobies were people that were different, but were trying to help.
And now he was one of the Scoobies and it seemed, his classmates might know that too.
'Oh please don't let them decide I'm a monster. I just want to help.' He thought.
Was that the motto of the Scoobies? Maybe he should suggest it.
