Walking into class, Kenji does what is encoded into his DNA. He finds his desk and puts his head down, hoping everyone ignores him. He hopes he might be able to squeeze in a nap between now and when his dad get here, but he doubt his classmates would be so considerate.
Hitoshi chuckles, "Really? You think that'll work out for you?"
Kenji turns to glare at his brother, "Shush. I know for a fact you want to do the same."
Hitoshi shrugs, "Maybe, but I know there's no way I'd be able to pull it off. Our classmates are normal teenagers, and we both know what they're like."
Kenji groans, sitting up, "I know. So inconsiderate to people trying to nap."
Hitoshi nods sagely, "And so unwilling to gift us coffee."
Kenji nods in return, "It's too cruel."
They both chuckle as their other classmates start trickling in. Really, Kenji is just grumpy he had to leave the comfort of his cat filled be that morning. It had been so comfy too…
Soon enough, everyone had arrived and Aizawa comes slinking in inside the sleeping bag Mic had gotten him. He'd had it for years now and refused to part with it, especially because it was a gift from his husband.
Standing hands free and slurping down a jelly pouch, Aizawa addresses the now quiet class, "It took most of you eight seconds to notice me, and a further seven for you all to quiet down. That's fifteen seconds wasted, you'll have to start doing better."
Most of the class was stunned. Just who was this guy?
Meanwhile Kenji and Hitoshi were doing their best to hold in their laughter. They know damn well just how badly their classmates are doing. The test had already started and most of the class was already behind.
Aizawa sighs as he steps out of his sleeping bag, "My name is Shota Aizawa, I'm your homeroom teacher. There are gym uniforms in the locker rooms. Go put them on and meet me on Field Gamma, we're doing something a bit different today. Don't waste any more time."
As soon as he's done talking, Hitoshi and Kenji are already on their way out the door and towards the locker room. Getting there, they change quickly and head out to the field as their other classmates begin to arrive.
Arriving on the field, Aizawa smiles approvingly at them, "Good job you two, I think that's your fastest time yet."
Hitoshi chuckles, "Of course. With you as our dad and mentor, we have no choice but to get good."
Kenji nods, "By the way, dad, do you want me to make the tests more difficult?"
Aizawa shakes his head, "Not today. They'll be stressed enough with how I normally run things, adding you might break their spirits too early in the year. I'll let you know when you can though."
Aizawa cocks his head to the side, "Serious faces you two, they're starting to arrive."
With matching nods, all present members of the Yamazawa family go stone faced.
Eventually, the rest of the class arrives to an unimpressed Aizawa.
Aizawa grunts, "It took a total of eight minutes for everyone to assemble. Granted, it's better then what I expected of you, but not as fast as you'll need to be in the future. Less socializing in the locker rooms and more changing, someday there will be lives on the line."
After letting his words sink in, Aizawa explains why they're here, "Today you'll be taking a little test so I can gauge your limits. It's things you've done before, Endurance Running, Softball Pitch, 50-Meter Dash, etc. This time, however, you'll be using your Quirks to give yourself every advantage you can. Honestly, they should've been doing it like this to begin with, but the Department of Education is dragging its feet like always."
A brown haired girl raises her hand, "What about orientation? Or the counselor meetings?"
Aizawa grunts, "The orientation is just pageantry, you'll need to get used to skipping things like that if you really want to be a Hero. As for counselor meetings, I warned them about this ahead of time, so they have a later time booked for you all."
Moving past that, Aizawa turns to a boy with spiky blonde hair, "Bakugou, what's the farthest score you've gotten for the ball throw?"
Bakugou grunts, "67 meters, give or take."
Aizawa nods, "Give it another try, but use your Quirk this time. And don't hold back. Anything goes as long as you stay inside the circle."
A feral grin graces the boy's face, "You asked for it!" He reels back and throws, releasing a large explosion from his palm as the ball leaves his hand with a shout of, "DIE!"
Kenji and Hitoshi have to stop themselves from laughing. Die? Who did this kid think he was?
After seeing the massive score Bakugou achieved, 705.2 meters, several students got excited.
"I can't wait to show off my Quirk!", one said.
"This'll be so much fun!", said another.
Hitoshi and Kenji cringe. That girl had just sealed her fate. Such a shame too, as Kenji thought she was very pretty. Her pink skin and matching hair, her cute little horns, and her beautiful eyes that resembled two warm lights shining through the void.
Okay, enough staring, dad's about to say something.
Aizawa sneers, "Fun, huh? Is that how you really think the Hero Course will be? You'll get to goof off all year with your friends and waste time hanging out after school? Alright, since you don't want to take this seriously, how about I add some stakes? If you just so happen to come in last when I rank your scores for the tests, you'll be expelled for not having any potential."
The brown haired girl from earlier pipes up, "What?! You can't do that! It isn't fair!"
Aizawa smirks, "I can do whatever I please. UA is known for its freedom on campus, and that extends to us teachers too. If I decide you aren't fit for my class I can have you gone that same day. As for the matter of fairness, did you really hope to become a Hero and have Villains work on your time? Do you really think they'll care you're tired from busting eight other crimes that day? No. They'll just use the weakness to try and get you killed. Our world isn't fair, so as a Hero it'll be your job to level the playing field."
Aizawa chuckles darkly, pulling his hair away from his face to reveal a manic grin, "I've got three years to turn you all into model Heroes. I'll spend the entire time breaking you down and building you back up stronger! You'll think you're dying, and you might even wish you were, but try not to actually die on me! Welcome to the Hero Course kids! I'm going to carve the meaning of Plus Ultra into your very bones!"
Kenji and Hitoshi can't help it. They're sharing their dad's crazed smile. This'll be real fun. For them that is.
A/N: Here we are, chapter two. Already have some small hints at the ship, as well as some father son moments. This is so much fun, especially because I listen to the song "I Think I'm a Clone Now" by Weird Al on loop whenever I go to write it. Alright, see you later.
