On Thursday early in the morning Ben called Carole. Carole answered and Ben quickly said "Ms Littleton, I'm sorry for the rush in the phone call but it's happening, the trial and we need to be there".
Carole asked, "Where is it".
Ben answered "Guam. I bought you and Aaron tickets aboard Ajira 316 leaving LAX today. Be there. It takes off this afternoon".
Carole asked "Guam. That's an island".
Ben said "Yes. And I understand that this is urgent, but you need to get there. Be on Ajira 316". Ben hung up the phone.
Carole said "Aaron, wake up sweetheart. We need to go".
Aaron asked, "Where are we going grandma".
Carole answered "Guam. It's an island and we need to be there".
Aaron asked "Why".
Carole said "Because we're not being manipulated anymore. We're taking back everything they took from us. You never got to know your mum and were forced to believe that liar was your mother, she took your full name, your birthday, and your family. You had everything taken from you and we're gonna get it back. All of it".
Aaron turned to the picture of Claire and said "I wish I met mommy. Real mommy".
Carole said "And that's why we need to do this. You say mommy sweetheart".
Aaron asked "Why. Is that wrong".
Carole answered "No, it's just what you were taught but we say it a little bit differently. We say it with a u and not an o. That's why I say she's your mummy".
Aaron realised and said, "Oh. I thought you just said it funny grandma".
Carole said "It might sound a little funny. A lot of words may sound a little funny, but you'll soon see them as natural as your own. I love you and love the way you speak but I hate that your real accent was taken from you. You should be saying mummy, but you aren't, and I hate that everything was taken from you".
Aaron asked, "Would you like me to say mummy grandma".
Carole said "I don't care. I'm not going to force you to be different. If you like saying mommy, then you say it but if you want to say mummy then that's okay to".
Aaron pointed to Claire's picture and said "mummy".
Carole said "Any other words you'd like me to help you with. I'll help you. I love you and I will always be there for you".
Aaron hugged Carole and said, "I love you grandma".
Carole responded "Love you to, Aaron. Now, let's get packed and head for the airport. We have a plane to catch".
Carole and Aaron arrive at LAX and has they are going through security. Aaron spots Kate, Sun, Sayid, and Hurley being led past security by Illana and her men and pulls on Carole's pants and says "Grandma. Grandma. Look".
Carole asked, "What is it Aaron".
Aaron pointed and said "Kate. Kate".
Carole sees them and pulls Aaron close to her. She tells him "Don't worry Aaron, I've got you. I've got you. You just stay close to me and once we're through you hold my hand all right". Aaron nodded.
Carole and Aaron walked to the gate and as they arrived Kate noticed them and said "Aaron".
Carole knelled in front of Aaron and said "I'm sorry Aaron. I had no idea they'd be getting on the same flight. Let's go. We'll get the next one. Surely there has to be another one soon".
They left and ran into Ben. Ben said, "Hello Ms Littleton, the gates that way".
Carole saw that Ben was injured and asked, "What happened to you".
Ben answered "Just had a little accident. Nothing of any concern".
Carole moved passed this and said "Anyway, they're on that flight. We're not getting the same one as them".
Ben said "I had no idea. If you want to book the next flight, I understand".
Carole said "Good, because we are".
Carole was walking past Ben when Ben said "Except if I were you. I view this as an opportunity. Face them head on and tell them "We're not afraid of you. I'm taking my life back and you don't control me. We are strong and happy together and you can never take that from us. All before we go there and take everything from them. But that would just be me. I understand why you can't and am in full support. Good day Ms Littleton, Aaron".
Ben began to walk to the gate when Carole turned back to Ben before turning back to Aaron. She knelled in front of him and said "I know this is scary, but we can't hide from the people we fear. We have to face them head on and show them that they don't control us".
Aaron said "I'm scared grandma. I'm scared that she'll take me again".
Carole said "That will never happen. And we can do this together. We're the Littleton's and we are stronger than anybody thinks we are. And we do because we are together. I will be there every step of the way and will never leave your side. I will protect you and I need you to protect me". She then asked "So, Aaron. Are you willing to face them with me". Aaron nodded and Carole said, "all right my brave little boy, let's go". Carole and Aaron went back to the gate and waited for Ajira 316 with everyone else. Kate was continuously staring at Aaron and when Aaron noticed this he hid behind Carole. Carole told him "It's okay, she can't hurt you. I'm here and I will protect you". Kate then turned to Ben and knew that he was behind this.
They then boarded and as they entered Aaron saw Kate and said "Grandma. I don't think I can do this".
Carole said "You don't need to look. I've got you". Carole then picked Aaron up and he hid himself into Carole as they walked past. Kate was ashamed of herself and knew that he was scared of her. He never looked at her like that before and knew he's never look at her like he used to again.
Carole and Aaron sat against the wall in first class and Carole told Aaron "First class. I've never sat in first class before. You're a lucky boy".
Aaron asked, "Did I do good".
Carole answered "You did excellent. I'm so proud of you. You didn't need to look at them but even being here is bravery beyond anything. Your mum would be so proud of you". Aaron was happy to hear this and sat down. Ben entered and sat beside them. They could see that the Oceanic six did not like him and Carole thought that they probably knew he was involved. The Oceanic Six members turned to each other and knew that Ben was involved in their predicament. Carole said to Ben "They don't like you very much".
Ben said "I exposed them as the liars they are. Of course they don't".
Ben sat back and the plane took off. Ben knew that they were going back to the island and Kate, Sun, Hurley, and Sayid all thought about what Ben had planned for them in Guam. Lapidus then introduced himself over the speaker and they were all shocked to hear that their pilot was Lapidus. Hours into the flight and with Aaron sleeping on Carole's lap, the plane hit turbulence. Aaron awoke and Carole looked up to see the seatbelt sign. Carole said "Aaron, put your seatbelt on. We need to put our seatbelts on. Carole put on hers before putting Aaron's on. The stewardess told everyone to put their seatbelts on and they all complied.
The plane shook violently, an alarm sounded, and luggage fell out of the overhead compartment with a guitar case falling onto Hurley's lap and he knew that this was what Jacob had meant when he said that a guitar case would fall into his lap, and he needed to protect it. Hurley grabbed hold of it. Aaron asked "Grandma. What's happening".
Carole said "Just hold onto me okay. It'll be over soon". Aaron then held tightly onto Carole. Lapidus and his copilot were flying when they felt the turbulence and they turned off the auto pilot and the copilot gave him the controls. Lapidus ordered his copilot to pull the rudder when the plane was then struck by a flash and tossed them around in their seats. The flash then took Kate, Hurley, and Sayid from the plane.
