In the morning Hurley made Kate breakfast and asked "Hey, do you know what's going on with Sayid".
Kate answered "I was over at Sawyer's last night. He said that he was handling it and was going to get Sayid out today".
Hurley said "Good thing Sawyer's like in charge of this place. I don't know what we would do without him".
Kate responded "I don't know. I never saw this coming, especially with Jack gone and being in the 70's, who would have thought that would happen to us".
Hurley said "Well I sure didn't but we just have to deal with it. Sayid will be us soon and we'll find everyone from the plane".
Kate asked, "Then what".
Hurley asked "What".
Kate asked "Then what. When we find Sun, Frank, Aaron, his grandmother, what are we going to do. How are we going to explain to them that they're on the island, that they've time travelled, and how are we going to get back to our own time".
Hurley said, "I don't know but we made it here, we can make it back, and with us all back together I know we can do it".
Kate said, "I wish I had your optimism". Hurley then realising his efforts weren't happening, he decided to go make more waffles.
Sawyer went to Sayid to get him to say that he's a Hostile that wants to turn and become one of them, but Sayid rejected him. Horace took him Oldham who forced Sayid to eat something to compel him to tell him the truth. Sayid was honest about how he came here on Ajira 316, how he was here before with Sawyer on Oceanic 815, and the operating system of the Flame, the Pearl, and Swan station. They thought they had used to much when he told them that he was from the future. Juliet talked to Kate about how to work in the Motor Pool, but Kate knew nothing. Juliet said, "About me and James".
Kate responded "Yeah, I want you to know that I'm happy for you. I really am. I'm happy that you found each other. You're both good people and you deserve good things to happen to you". Juliet said that she was relieved because she didn't know how to tell Kate without it sounding like she was telling Kate to stay away. Kate told Juliet it was fine, and Sawyer returned with Sayid. Sawyer, Radzinsky, and Horace talked about what to do with Sayid and Sawyer insisted that he talk to him again, but Amy insists on a vote to see if they kill Sayid. When Amy states that she can't feel safe Sayid who they believe is a Hostile around and that they need to think about Ethan and all the other children. Horace calls for a vote and all but Sawyer vote in favour but after Horace wants it to be unanimous, Sawyer relents and votes in favour. Sawyer ties to free Sayid but refuses. Sawyer questions this because the morning Sayid was begging Sawyer to let him go. Sayid told Sawyer that ever since he woke up back on the island, he felt that there was no purpose to it but now he knows exactly why he's here. Sawyer goes to Kate and when Kate answers they say hello to each other. Kate exits her house and closes the door behind her. Sawyer asks "What happened. Why were you in handcuffs. How did you all come back. How did Ben force you onto the plane".
Kate said "James, please".
Sawyer told her "Sayid just filled my ear full with some crap about his damn purpose and I wanna know why. What happened before you came back to the island".
Kate answered "Me. I happened. I caused everything".
Sawyer asked, "What. What does that mean".
Kate said "James, I'm reason why we were all in handcuffs. I'm the reason we're back. I'm the reason Jack's dead".
Sawyer could hear the depression in her voice and put his arm on her in comfort. Sawyer told her "Kate. I need you to talk to me. Tell me everything. And don't believe that you're the reason that the doc's dead. He loved you and you are not to blame".
Kate said "James, I". They both heard an engine and saw a burning van barrelling through the Barracks. It smashes into a house and Sawyer is shocked to see it. Sawyer and Kate rush to help and as Kate gets the people out of the house Sawyer orders everyone and all security to put the fire out, Juliet helps put out the fire while Kate gets people out of the house. Young Ben frees Sayid, and they go out into the jungle together. They hide when a van comes past and see Jin get out to look for them. Jin finds Sayid and Sayid tries to tell him that Sawyer let him out when Jin receives a radio call from Phil, Sayid pleads with him and Jin tries to help but after calling Sawyer, Sayid knocks Jin out before taking his gun and shooting young Ben.
Jin takes young Ben back to the Barracks and the rest clean up from the burning van. Jin returned and carried young Ben to the infirmary Kate went to Sawyer who was in the security area. Horace entered with Jin, Miles, and Phil to get Sawyer to go with them to check the Hostile's cell. Sawyer ordered Miles to keep Kate, and Hurley in a single house, so they don't talk to anyone. Sawyer went to check on Ben's progress, but he needs a real surgeon. Sawyer wished to everything that Jack was still here because he's the only one that could have done this. Sawyer asked, "What can we do".
Juliet answered, "Nothing".
Sawyer turned to Ben and asked, "Who can".
Juliet answered, "They can".
Sawyer asked, "You don't mean".
Juliet said, "It's our only chance".
Sawyer accepted and left. Miles was holding Kate and Hurley, and they were all discussing time travel with Ben being shot. Sawyer entered and said "Kate. I need your help. Ben's dying and we need to take him to the Others. It's our only chance to save him".
Kate accepted and said "Okay, let's go. Let's go save Ben". Sawyer and Kate left to take Ben to the Others. Miles and Hurley discuss time travel and Hurley eventually managed to stun Miles when he mentioned the fact that Ben didn't recognise Sayid in the future. Hurley was happy that he made Miles think and was proud of himself. Juliet sends Roger to the medical station to get him out of the way and as Roger leaves, Kate and Sawyer come up.
Sawyer asks, "The kid ready to go".
Juliet said "Yes, and I just sent Roger away. You two need to go now".
Sawyer and Kate take Ben to a van and Kate tells him "Careful. Be careful with him".
Sawyer responds "I am" as he carefully places Ben inside the van. Sawyer tells her "We're ready to go".
Sawyer gets out and tells Juliet "We're going now, wish us luck".
Juliet tells him "Be careful. The both of you".
Sawyer tells her "We will, Blondie". Sawyer then kisses Juliet before getting in the van and driving away. They drive pass the sonic fence and into the jungle where they were soon found by the Others and after demanding to see Richard, Richard came and offered to save Ben, but it came at the cost of him not remembering this and that he would lose his innocence, he would be one of them. Kate and Sawyer agree, and Ben is taken by Richard to be saved. Ben was talk to by Charles and told that even though he was living with Dharma initiative he was one of them. Kate and Sawyer returned to the Barracks and got Miles to erase the tapes that showed them taking Ben to the Hostiles. Horace came in wanting Sawyer but since he was gone, he entrusted Miles to deliver a package to Radzinsky as part of their circle of trust which Miles is now a part of. Miles delivers the package to Radzinsky, they put a body into a body bag and loaded it into the van. Miles was told to take the body to Pierre at the Orchid. Hurley was loaded the van with sandwiches for the crew and Miles tried to stop him but eventually relented and they went to the Orchid together. Kate went to inform Juliet about Ben when Rodger came in and started to freak out when his son wasn't there, and no one knew where he was. Kate went to check on Rodger but accidently let on that she knew something which she rejected and left. On the way Hurley insisted that they stop because he smelt something funny and when he checked the back, he saw the body. Hurley guessed that Miles could speak to the dead and that he also had the same power as well. Miles and Hurley discuss talking to the dead and how their powers are separate. They made it to the Orchid and delivered what the body to Pierre and Pierre get mad about Hurley being there. Hurley calls Pierre a douche and Miles informs Hurley that Pierre is his dad. Hurley and Miles talk about Pierre when Pierre wants to be taken to the worksite. Miles drives Pierre and Hurley to the Swan station worksite and tries to get them to hang out together. When they arrive, Hurley realises that they are building the Hatch. Miles drives Hurley back and Hurley tries to talk to him about his dad but Miles refuses stating that he doesn't want to get to know his father. Miles then grabs Hurley notebook and reads what he's writing, Miles reads about the planet Hoth and wants to know what he's writing about. Hurley informs him that he is writing the script of Empire strikes back with a few improvements to send to George Lucas.
Phil knocked on Sawyer's door and as Sawyer answers he asks, "What is it Phil". Phil says hello to Sawyer and tell Sawyer that he knows Sawyer took Ben and when Phil wants and explanation, Sawyer invites him in before knocking him up and tying him up. Miles and Hurley arrive at the Barracks and Hurley tells him about his own father, and how Luke and Vader could have avoided The Return of the Jedi if they communicated. Miles then goes to Pierres house and see Pierre reading to a little Miles. Pierre walks out of the house and get Miles to go with him to meet the scientists from Ann Arbor. Miles goes to the dock and helps a scientist with his equipment before he comes out and Miles realises that it's Daniel.
