Lennon went to Dogen and told him that Sayid was awake. Jin and Miles were checking on Sayid when Hurley came over and was so happy that it worked. Jin said, "I'll get you some water".
Jin left to get water and Sayid said, "Thank you Jin". He then asked "Hurley. What happened to me".
Hurley answered "You died dude. Like I mean fully died. But you're back now, they saved you and I'm so happy". Hurley then hugged Sayid.
Kate asked Sawyer how that was possible because he was fine now, and Sawyer remarked that of course he was fine and when Kate asked what that meant Sawyer said "He's an Iraqi torturer who shoots kids. He definitely deserves another go around. It appears that none of the people that deserve another chance get it and those who don't get it".
Kate asked, "What does that mean".
Sawyer answered "Me and the kid. We both have something in common. You ripped the people that we loved from us. All because you're a selfish bitch".
Kate responded "James, I know you're upset about Juliet, and I will never forgive myself for being wrong, but you don't have to attack me. You just told me that you were planning on killing me and now you want me to suffer. Do you know how that makes me feel. Juliet wouldn't want this".
Sawyer said "Don't you dare say her name. Don't you dare even begin to think that you know how she felt. You didn't and you never did. We were happy, we were happy until you showed up. She was the love of my life. I was going to marry her. I had a ring and everything. I was going to marry the woman who loved me. And you took her away. You took her away like you stole Aaron from Claire. Now both of us can't be with them. They're both dead. So, good luck with whatever it is you got going on here. I'm leaving and I'm going back to my house and you, you better not try to follow me, or I will not hesitate. I will not give a warning shot. I will shoot you".
Sayid was carried outside by Hurley and Miles. Sayid asked who the people were, and Hurley answered that it was the Others, and they caught them again. Hurley then said that he thinks the Others are protecting them and Mile remarked that Hurley has taken the role of leader. Hurley remarked "I still can't believe your alive dude".
Sayid responded, "Neither can I". Dogen wanted Sayid to follow him and that there was nothing to worry about. Sayid asked "Hurley, since you're the leader. Should I go".
Hurley answered, "You just came back to life dude, I suggest yeah you do".
Sayid said "All right. Lead the way".
Sawyer used the distraction to sneak around and take a gun. He then fired a couple rounds into the air and aimed his gun at Dogen. Dogen ordered everyone to not shoot and to lower their weapons. Lennon said that Sawyer didn't have to do this because they weren't going to hurt Sayid. Sawyer said that Sayid wasn't his friend and that they can do anything with him or anyone else, but he was leaving. Kate wanted to stop Sawyer but knew she had done too much and never could. Sawyer said that he was walking out of here. Sawyer took down the barricade and Dogen pleaded with Sawyer to stay but Sawyer said that he didn't. Sawyer began to leave and said "I mean it Kate. Follow me and your dead". Sawyer then left the Temple.
The Others began to take Sayid inside the Temple before they grabbed Kate and held her at gunpoint. Lennon asked, "Where'd Ford go".
Kate asked "What".
Lennon said "Ford. Your friend who just ran out of here. Where did he go".
Kate answered, "I don't know".
Lennon asked, "You really expect me to believe that".
Kate said "He told me that he wanted to kill me. You believe that".
Jin said "I know where Sawyer would go. I can find him and bring him back here".
Lennon said "It's very important that he gets back here safely. Both of you. You both need to get back safely, you understand. What makes you think he's gonna listen to you".
Jin said "I've known him the longest. We were the only 815er's left on the island. He trusts me and I'll be the only one he listens to".
Kate said, "Jin if you need help with this".
Jin responded "No Kate. You stay here. You heard him. He's needs time and you're not helping him. Just let me do this and I'll keep him safe". Kate really wanted to go look for Claire and check to see if Carole and Aaron were on the island. But then she thought she would just make it worse like she did with Sawyer.
Jin got packed and Aldo gave him water and said, "You better not slow us down".
Jin responded "Don't worry. I won't". Jin then left the Temple with Aldo and Justin.
The Other perform experiments on Sayid. Jin asked about the Ajira plane and when Justin was about to tell him Aldo told Justin to shut up. Aldo ask Jin "so what's the strategy to bring your friend back. I hope you got one because he shot a guy on his way out. If he tries that on me, I'm gonna blow his head off". Justin then stopped Jin from tripping over a tripwire. Jin thought that it was one of Rousseau's traps, but Justin was about to tell him it wasn't, when Aldo told him to shut up. Jin seeing his chance to escape them and go after Sun knocked Aldo out and set off the trap knocking Justin out. Jin then took a gun and fled into the jungle after Sun.
The Others bring Sayid back and Miles and Hurley check on him. Hurley called out "Kate, he's back".
Kate came over and asked "Sayid. What happened. What did they say to you". Sayid answered that they tortured him, and Kate angrily said "What".
Sayid answered "Don't know. They didn't ask me any questions".
Kate then marched up to the Others and said, "Step aside". They did and Kate marched straight to Dogen.
Lennon saw him and said "Austen. What are you doing here".
Kate angered said "What the hell did you do to Sayid".
Lennon answered "We didn't do anything to your friend. Your friend is sick".
Kate asked "Sick with what because he seems fine to me. The only ones that seem sick are you guys".
Dogen said and Lennon translated "He's, yeah, I, just, there's not, there's not really a literal translation. The closest thing would be infected".
Kate asked "Infected".
Dogen got a pill and wrapped it and told Kate with Lennon translating "He says you have to give your friend this pill".
Kate was confused and asked "Are you serious. You want me to give him something after you torture him".
Lennon "Because it won't work unless it takes it willingly and he won't take it willingly from us".
Kate retorted "That tends to happen when you torture someone".
Lennon said "We didn't torture him. We were diagnosing him".
Kate asked, "To see if he was infected".
Lennon answered "Yes".
Kate said "I'm not giving anything to Sayid. We trusted you against our better judgements and you betrayed us. You're lucky we're even staying here. We could go back to the beach".
Dogen asked "Tell me, Austen. Your friend, how did he get shot".
Kate said, "You already know".
Dogen said "So, it was your fault".
Kate responded, "Fuck you".
Kate tried to leave and Dogen said "And there have been others who were hurt or died because of you".
Kate reflected and said "Yes".
Dogen said "Well, then this is your chance to redeem yourself. It's medicine, and your friend needs it".
Kate asked, "What happens if I don't give it to him".
Dogen answered "The infection will spread".
Miles and Hurley talked to Sayid about what he saw after his death and Sayid answers that he remembers being shot. Hurley asks if he's a zombie and Sayid denies this. Kate returns and Miles says "Hey".
Kate said "Hey, there's something we need to discuss. Something I don't know what to do. I'm not a doctor like Jack and every time I make a decision it turns out wrong".
Hurley asked, "What is it Kate".
Kate got out the pill and said "This. This, they say is medicine. Medicine that Sayid needs".
Sayid remarked "You don't trust them".
Kate said, "They're the Others".
Hurley said, "But Jacob said we could trust them".
Kate said, "I'm sorry Hurley but I don't know who this Jacob is, and I don't want to make the wrong one or trust them. They told me they were diagnosing Sayid".
Sayid said "They told me it was some kind of test, which they said I passed. Clearly, I didn't".
Kate said, "They told me they said you were infected and that this will help".
Sayid asked, "What do you all think".
Hurley said, "I'm going to trust them".
Sayid asked "Miles".
Miles said "Well, if they think you failed a test, they had to torture you to find out. I don't think a pill will help with whatever infection he has".
Hurley said, "But Jacob said that they'd help".
Kate interrupted and said "Miles right. If they were diagnosing him or doing it anyway that a pill would help. They wouldn't torture him. I need to find out more information". Kate went to Dogen and saw him playing with a baseball. She asked, "What's that".
Dogen answered "It's a baseball".
Kate remarked "You seem to speak pretty good English for someone with a translator, who might I add has never said anything we said to you".
Dogen laughed and said, "We both know I don't need a translator".
Kate asked, "Then why do you have one".
Dogen answered "Because I have to remain separate from the people, I'm in charge of. It makes it easier when they don't like the decisions, I make for them".
Kate asked, "Who are you".
Dogen answered "My name is Dogen".
Kate asked, "Are you from here, the island".
Dogen answered "I was brought here like everybody else".
Kate asked, "What do you mean, brought here".
Dogen said "You know exactly what I mean".
Kate said "all right. Let's cut the games and bullshit. What's in that pill that told me to give Sayid".
Dogen asked "You didn't give it to him".
Kate answered "Not until I find out everything. Not until you tell me truth".
Dogen said "There isn't time. He'll die".
Kate said "That's what I'm afraid of. I'm afraid that if I give it to him then he'll die. I ruined the lives of too many people. I've screwed up so much that now they want to kill me. So, if I give this to Sayid and he dies, then the rest of them will want that as well. I will lose any chance to make it up to them. So, tell me will this save Sayid. Will he be fine after I give it to him. Will he not die".
Dogen knew that if he lied then he wouldn't be able to protect the remaining candidates and relented and said, "It's poison".
Dogen made Kate tea and Kate asked, "What's this".
Dogen answered "Tea".
Kate laughed and took a drink. Kate asked "Why would you want to kill Sayid. I thought you were here to save him, to protect us".
Dogen answered "We believe he has been".
Dogen said something in Japanese and Lennon translated "Closest translation is claimed".
Jack asked "Claimed. By what".
Dogen said "There's a darkness growing in him. And once it reaches his heart. Everything your friend once was, will be gone".
Kate asked "No, I don't. How can, you be sure of that".
Dogen answered "Because it happened to your friend. The one you left behind".
Kate asked "Claire".
Dogen answered "Yes, Ms Littleton. After you all left her behind, she was claimed like Jarrah".
Kate asked "Claire. Do you know where she is".
Dogen answered "Ms Littleton has been hard to find. We only tried to help but she escaped".
Kate said, "You mean you tortured her like you tortured Sayid".
Dogen answered "We tested her, and she failed".
Kate asked, "What does failure mean".
Dogen answered "It means when someone's scale. The good and the bad tips the wrong way".
Kate asked "Are you saying she's evil. Is there no way to fix it".
Dogen said "No. Nothing that we can do. The only person that can change that is themselves. We thought that Ms Littleton could do it, if anyone could but she failed. Everyone fails. And Sayid will fail to. That's why we tried to kill him".
Claire failed that day. Doesn't mean she won't succeed today. Doesn't mean that Sayid won't. You give up on them after their first try but I know them, and I know both of them. They're good people and they will succeed. They will prove you wrong".
Dogen said "They won't".
Kate asked, "Did the plane land here".
Dogen asked "What".
Kate asked "Ajira flight 316. Did it land on the island".
Dogen answered "Yes, on Hydra Island".
Kate said "Then that means Aaron's on this island and the second that Claire see's her son again. The scale will tip back to good".
Kate asked, "And how do you know this".
Kate answered "Because I know Claire. I know that Aaron meant the world to her. That she'd do anything for him, even break your impossibility because she is his mother".
Dogen asked "Then why did you take him". Kate was taken aback by this and Dogen asked "Why did you take him and claim him as your own if Claire was such a good mother".
Kate thought about every excuse she used every day over the passed three years and how the second Aaron was out of her life they felt wrong, selfish, and pathetic. Kate tried to hide the truth from herself ever she got arrested but knew it on the plane when she saw Aaron again. Kate admitted "Because I needed him".
Dogen accepted this and said, "You can leave now". Kate began to leave and Dogen remarked "Let's hope you're right about them because if you're wrong, you'll regret it".
Kate responded, "I regret a lot of things, but this won't be one of them". Kate then left Dogen's office.
Jin is getting water when he is caught by Justin and Aldo, he then escapes from them and grabs his gun before he runs away. Jin runs as fast as he can away from them. He knows that they're gonna keep chasing him and needs to kill them before they kill him. Jin then notices a small ditch to the left of him and takes a quick look back to see that they are far enough behind to not notice this. Jin jumps and waits for them to come. Aldo and Justin run by and see that it's a clearing and Justin asks "Where did he go. He couldn't outrun us this much".
Aldo said "No he hasn't. He's around here and we need to find him. You search left while I go right".
Justin agrees and comes close to Jin but Jin hides. Justin looks down but since he can't see anything goes to search around. Jin quickly moves and get a sight on Justin. He needs to question one about Sun and determines Justin would be better so shoots Justin in the leg and as he screams in pain. Aldo turns but Jin turns to Aldo and shoots him twice in the chest killing him. Jin then turns back to Justin who's trying to reach for his gun, but Jin rushes and kicks it away before aiming at Justin and telling him "Tell me everything you know about the Ajira flight".
Justin pleaded "Please, you need to come back to the Temple. All of you".
Jin ordered "Tell me about the Ajira flight. Where's my wife".
Justin said "It crashed on Hydra Island. That's all I know I swear".
Jin said, "If it crashed there then that's where Sun would be". Jin then took Justin's gun and told him "Try to make it back to the Temple as quick as you can".
Jin then ran away heading in the direction of Hydra Island. Justin turned to Aldo and grunted before trying to get up and head back to the Temple.
