Claire falls asleep on the chair in her tent next to her bed which is a laid down plane seat that Aaron was sleeping on. Claire dreamed on in her dream she awoke sleeping on her bed. Aaron was no longer there and neither was her mother. Claire called out "Aaron. Mum".
Charlie came over dressed in a leather jacket and sunglasses and told her "There not here Claire. It's just you and me".
Claire exclaimed "Charlie".
Claire got up and kissed him. She said, "Charlie your back". Charlie gave her a knowing look and Claire said, "This is a dream isn't it".
Charlie answered "Yes, it is".
Claire said "I don't care. I love you and I've missed you so much".
Charlie said, "I missed you to, but just because this is a dream doesn't mean I'm not here". Charlie then caressed Claire's face and told her "I love you, Claire".
Claire was so happy to hear this and they both sat on her bed. Claire asked "Why did you leave me. Why did you have to go down to that underwater station and leave me".
Charlie answered "Because I thought it would save you. Save Aaron. Get you both off this island and be able to go home".
Claire developed tears in her eyes and said "It didn't. It didn't work".
Charlie said, "I know and I'm so sorry".
Claire said "I lost him Charlie. I lost our son".
Charlie asked "Ours". Claire held her hands over her eyes giggled. Charlie said "It's okay. It's okay to feel that way. Families come in many different forms, but the only thing that matters is if you love them".
Claire said "Yeah, I do feel that way. You were his father no matter what. You loved him and he loved you. That is all that matters".
Charlie asked, "How is our son".
Claire answered "Beautiful. He's so beautiful Charlie. He's so kind and forgiving. He's also so brave. What other three-year-old could handle all of this like he did. I knew he was strong after the crash, but I didn't realise this much. He's having a hard time but he's pulling through. I don't think anybody could. I don't think I could".
Charlie said "That's because he has you as a mother. You are so strong Claire. You had to deal with being pregnant on the island, motherhood, being taken from Aaron, and having to be alone on this island for three years".
Claire said "It wasn't me. Aaron kept me going through it all".
Charlie said "That's because you need each other. He needs you as much as you need him. And I know it might feel right now that you need him more, but you'll realise that he needs you. He's going to have to go through a lot. A lot just to just get off this island. And afterwards. He's going to have the big wide world being known the stolen child. The kid that got taken as a baby and falsely believed another woman to me his mother. All of it, aired on television. And he's gonna need you. To comfort him, tell him that it's okay, get through this together. He'll never stop needing you and you'll never stop needing him".
Claire said "I don't know if I can do it alone. Alone I lost him. I need you. I need you to come back so we can do it together".
Charlie told her "I would like nothing more for you, me, and Turniphead to be a family. Us together as one was the best part of my life". Claire was happy to hear it because it was hers as well. Charlie said "But it's over. I can't come back. I would like to. I would love to be with the both of you again, but I can't. Dead is dead. You don't come back or get a second chance".
Charlie asked "What do I do. I'm afraid I'll make a mistake".
Charlie told her "You're gonna make a mistake. You're gonna make lots of mistakes but that's because you're human. I made so many mistakes and unfortunately some of them were with you and Aaron. I wished to take them back, but I couldn't. I did what I did and whatever happened, happened. But I also loved you and never gave up. That's what you'll do. You'll love Aaron and never give up on being there for him. You're teaching him how to swim, how to fish, how to tell him stories of handsome heroes".
Claire asked, "You were watching".
Charlie said "I'm always watching. And I'm always there for you and him. No matter what I'll always be with you. I'll always be right here". Charlie then placed his hand on Claire's heart.
Claire said, "You never left me".
Charlie answered "Never".
Claire asked "Then why is this the first time I'm seeing you. Why didn't you come to me in the last three years".
Charlie answered "Because I couldn't. This has been my first opportunity. And it'll be my last".
Claire said "No Charlie don't go. I need you".
Charlie said "Our time together's over Claire. You need to let go".
Claire responded, "But I love you".
Charlie told her "And we'll be together again but until that day, you don't worry about me. You go on and raise our son. You go back home, and you raise him. You have your best life and in many, many years and after our son is grown and you hold our grandchildren, and watch Aaron raise them. When it's all over. That's when we'll be together again. I love you, Claire".
Claire responded, "I love you to Charlie".
Charlie said "One last thing. Do not trust him. Do not trust Locke. No matter what you do not trust the monster".
Claire responded "But he's, my friend. He was the only one that didn't leave me. He brought my mum and Aaron back to me".
Charlie said "No he didn't. He's a liar and you can't trust him. He's not your friend, he's a monster. You can't trust him, for me, for your mother, for yourself, but especially for Aaron".
Claire said "I will Charlie. I will for Aaron".
Charlie said "He's in danger Claire. He needs to get off this island and you need to protect him. You're the only one who can. You have to protect him".
Claire said "I will Charlie. I will protect him. I won't let anything hurt him. Nothing will hurt while I'm here".
Charlie said "I know you will. Goodbye my love, until we see each other again".
Claire said "Goodbye Charlie. I love you". Claire and Charlie kissed. Claire awoke and saw that it was still night, and her son was still asleep on the bed besides her. She then turned to see her mother on the floor under the tent on the seat cushions that formed her makeshift bed. Claire then looked at Charlie's ring which she wore around her as a necklace and held it thinking of Charlie. She then went over to Aaron and said "I love you, my baby. I love watching you sleep. I always did. You always sleep so beautifully, and I just love you. I'm sorry and I'll never not be sorry for us being apart, but I promise Aaron that I will always be there for you. Whenever you need me, I'll be there. Whatever struggle you're going through I'll solve and make you feel better. I will always protect you. I will protect you against boar, bullies, bad people, and monsters. No monster will ever harm you, Aaron. Your mummy will stop them because that's how much I love you. Goodnight my baby can't wait for another day to be the mum of the best son in the world. You're my world Aaron. You're my whole world and nothing means more to me than you. I love you. And I'm so thankful that you love me to. That means everything to me. You're the best and I couldn't hope for a better son. I'm the luckiest woman in the world". Claire then gave Aaron a kiss on the cheek and "sleep tight baby". Claire then sat down and fell back to sleep.
