Sayid goes to confront Dogen, and he informs him that it was because his scales were tipped toward evil. Sayid rejects this because he is good, that is when Dogen attacks him and nearly kills him before telling him to leave and never come back. The monster leads Sawyer and Jin to the Temple and tells them "Go in there and give them my message".

Jin asked, "you said you would take me to my wife".

The monster informed him "go in there and she'll come".

Sawyer asked, "why don't you do this instead of sending us".

The monster answered, "if I could do it myself, I wouldn't be asking you two".

Sawyer said, "if we do this, you promise to get us off the island all of us".

The monster answered, "yes James all of you even those whose names are not there like Miles, Claire, her mother, Aaron, and of course Kate".

Sawyer remarked "If we're leaving the island then I don't want Kate to come. Not after everything she did".

The monster said "James, you already abandoned one person on this island, can you deal with doing it to a second".

Sawyer said, "How is Claire by the way, you said she was alive".

The monster answered, "Fine. With her mother and son".

Sawyer and Jin began walk to the Temple with Sawyer turning around "you going to hurt them".

The monster answered, "only those who won't listen".

Sayid informs Miles about him being banished due to him being evil. Jin and Sawyer enter the Temple and are about to be shot when Lennon orders them not to. Lennon asks, "what brought you two back".

Sawyer tells them "He wants to see you".

Dogen talks in Japanese, but Sawyer stops him "speak English because I know you can".

Dogen asks "who wants to see me".

Sawyer tells him "Oh I think you know who".

Dogen says "I don't know what you heard but you two shouldn't listen to him, he's evil but why don't you go back there and tell him that if he wants to see me then tell him to come in".

Sawyer replies "well he wants you to go to him and is waiting outside for you on the outer wall".

Dogen told them "I'm not a fool. If I step outside this Temple, he'll kill me".

Sawyer responded, "well then Hoss, I guess you need to send someone he won't kill".

Sawyer turns his back when Dogen ordered "stop them". Dogen then ordered in Japanese "take them to the hole, we need to find out what he did to them". He then wanted Kate and Hurley to be brought to them, but it alerted that they are missing. Sayid and Miles watch as Jin and Sawyer are being dragged to the hole. Dogen then takes Sayid into his office and asks "Your friends Austen and Reyes. Do you know where they went".

Sayid said that he didn't and asked "Why did Sawyer and Jin come back. And what were they talking about".

Dogen got out a box hidden in a plant and said, "They are confused, and under the influence of an angry man".

Sayid asked what man and Dogen said that for years he's been trapped but now Jacob's gone, and he is free. Dogen said that the monster won't stop until he has destroyed every living thing on the island. Dogen said that the monster is evil incarnate, and Sayid asked if he wanted Sayid to talk to him. Dogen rejected this and gave him a dagger and said that he wanted Sayid to kill him. He then said that the monster will come as someone he knows that has died and when he sees him should kill him immediately because if he listens to him; then it will be too late. Sayid asked why and Dogen said that it was because Sayid said that there was still good in him. Sayid left and walked into the jungle and when the monster appears and greets him. Sayid plunges the dagger into his chest, but it doesn't seem to work. The monster gives Sayid back the dagger and asks him that he deliver a message to Dogen and those at the Temple. Sayid agrees because the only thing he wanted died in his arms and the monster promised that he could see it again. Sayid tells them that Jacob is dead and are free. The monster is leaving the island and will take anyone with him that chooses to go with him, and they have until sundown to decide. Cindy asks what will happen to them if they stay and Sayid answers that they will die. The Temple went into panic and a lot of them began to flee despite Lennon's protest that it's okay. Miles wants to know what's happening because one minute he's saying that he's banished and now he's telling everyone that they're going to die. Miles asked if they were getting out of here and Sayid said that they weren't yet because he had to give the dagger back to Dogen.

At sundown Sayid went to Dogen by the pool. Sayid tackled him into the water before holding Dogen underneath the water until he stopped thrashing and drowned. Lennon saw this and informed Sayid that he was only thing keeping it out and now that he's dead it can come in. The monster began its attack as Sayid sliced Lennon's throat. The monster started to head toward the Temple and Miles ran away from it exclaiming "shit".

Miles ran into a room and the door was burst down by Illana who demanded "Where are Reyes and Ford". Miles asked who Illana was and Illana told him to answer the question.

Miles answered, "Reyes' gone, he left with Kate, but James is with Jin in a pit".

Sun and Lapidus entered, and Sun overhead hearing about her husband and demanded "which way did they go" and Miles pointed to the left. Sun fled and Lapidus tried to stop her, but she was too quick. Miles was shocked to see Lapidus and Lapidus said that they'd catch up later but right now had to go. Illana asked if Sayid was here, and Miles answered that he was going to the pool room. Ben went after him and Illana tried to stop him, but he left to quickly. She then told Miles and Lapidus to follow her.

Sun ran and called out "Jin" trying to find her husband.

Jin called out to his wife "Sun".

Sun followed it and ran into the room and Jin ordered her "get down here or you're going die".

Sun turned to see the smoke monster coming towards her and jumped into the pit where she tried to grab onto the ladder but fell and Jin caught her causing them to both fall over. Everyone watched as the monster flew above them. Sun turned back to her husband below her and said, "found you".

Jin replied "you sure did" before kissing her.

Ben went to the pool and saw Sayid with the bloodied dagger and tried to get him to leave with him, but Sayid rejected, and Ben left. Illana led Lapidus and Miles to a secret door and they made their escape through there.

Sayid, Sawyer, Jin, and Sun exited the Temple and Sun was nervous because she knew Locke wasn't Locke and that she buried the real Locke but cautiously followed Locke because Sayid, Sawyer, and most importantly Jin were also following Locke.
