Author's Note: Sorry for the wait and delay in these next couple of chapters but happy to update again. Thank you so much for reading and favoring/following this story, as well as the kind and wonderful comments. Most of this story is already finished so I definitely plan to write until the end. All the love!

Lorcan had been enjoying the holidays. He smiled thinking about Rose. He remembered her present and rushed to send an international owl. He had bought her a nice little pendant with both their pictures along with one of him holding a pair of nifflers, one in his hand and one on his head. It held a message on the back that said, 'missing you'. He smiled as he saw the owl disappear into the sky

The following morning Rose was woken up by a tap on her window. She still felt emotionally and physically exhausted from the previous night and hadn't slept well. She groaned, rubbing her eyes as she opened the window for the barn owl she recognized as Lorcan's. Sighing, she untied the small parcel it was carrying, petting the owl on the head before it flew off. Rose ran a hand through her hair, bracing herself before opening the parcel. She pulled out a lovely pendant, and opened it to reveal a photo of her and Lorcan. On the back, he'd written her a touching little message. Rose bit her lip and tears began to fall at the sweet gesture, particularly knowing the conversation she and Lorcan would have after the new year. Rose put the pendant gently back in the box and grabbed a piece of parchment and a quill. Normally, she would be writing to Lorcan, thanking him for the thoughtful gift, but instead she wrote: "Al, please come to my house...I need to talk to someone..." she wrote, opening the window to give the letter to Lila who hooted before flying off. Rose sighed, walking back to her bed and making herself comfortable underneath the sheets. She had no plans of leaving her room that day.

…..

Albus was having breakfast when Lila flew in and pecked him on the head. It was still a day after Christmas so his siblings were sleeping in. Usually he would have been too but he had been worrying all night. About how Scorpius had left the party and how Rose had too. He was sure that something had happened. His mom and dad too had been sleeping in, knowing that the children wouldn't be up for sometime.

So when Lila did arrive, he felt that it was an odd time. It was around 10 in the morning, and his dad had just woken up as glanced down at the letter.

Albus saw his father walking towards the kitchen yawning, who looked at Albus wide eyed. "You are up early.." he said to which Albus replied, "No time dad, going to the Weasleys to talk to Rosie. Meet you at lunch"

Albus then hurriedly changed out of his pajamas, got his coat and flooed to the Weasleys home. He saw no one, but he knew that at least three hours would have gone by since the letter was sent so someone must be awake. Luckily for him aunt Hermione was. "Aunt Mione, err.. Rosie sent a letter... Can I go upstairs and talk?" He asked

Hermione turned around as she placed a fresh stack of pancakes on Hugo's plate when Albus arrived. She frowned. She's gone up to Rose's room earlier but she had refused to answer the door. "Yes Albus, please do."

Albus gave her an understanding nod and moved upstairs. He knocked on Rose's door and spoke softly, "Hey it's me Al... Lila came to me this morning.."

Rose perked up at the sound of her cousin's voice. Not getting up from the bed, she mumbled a quick 'come in.'

Albus opened the door and stepped in. He saw Rose bundled up underneath her covers, her eyes red. He went and sat on the bed beside her, "What happened Rosie?"

Rose sat up, her eyes puffy from crying. "It's Scorp..." she said softly, tugging at her hair "Last night he-he told me he loved me, Al..."

Albus gave her a sad smile, "He finally confessed did he...I thought he would never tell you because... You know... Lorcan..." He said, scooting in closer so that she could rest her head on his shoulder.

Rose looked up at her cousin, her head still on his shoulder. "You knew?"

Albus smiled despite the situation, "Everyone knew... Just not you I suppose... Everyone could see how much he loves you... And that you feel the same..." He said looking at the ceiling.

Rose glanced across to her dresser where Scorpius' gift sat and sighed "What do I do, Al?" She said, her voice cracking "This morning Lorcan sent me a really thoughtful gift and I don't want to hurt him...but I want to be with Scorpius...I know that." she said softly, wiping away a stray tear.

Albus let what she said sink in. He knew his best friend and that Scorpius wouldn't stop loving her. But the look in Scorpius' eyes, was a look of defeat he had only seen once before when Mrs. Malfoy had passed. "I am afraid that... He may have given up" he said sadly. "Yesterday he just looked beaten when he left..."

Rose sat up, shifting so she could look at Albus directly. "What do you mean, Al? Last night..." she said frowning, recalling her conversation with Scorpius "He was drunk..." she said softly.

"That makes sense.." Albus said, "He never would have told you otherwise.." he replied just as softly. "I'm sorry you have to go through this... Scorp is being an idiot... Wait a few days and I'll knock some sense into his brain" he said trying to get his cousin to cheer up.

Rose nodded as she leaned forward, hugging him. "Thank you Al...What would I do without you?" she said, smiling sadly.

"Oh I think you'd do very well Rosie... But with me, well you'd do swimmingly" He grinned,

Rose chuckled "git." She said lightheartedly, feeling as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders just by talking to her cousin. "Now go downstairs and bring me something to eat, please. I'm starving."

"Wow makes me a glorified butler" Albus mumbled, getting up knowing Aunt Mione was already preparing pancakes. He was just grateful that Rose at least had her appetite back. He happily went down to the kitchen on a mission to get his cousin her pancakes.

….

As big a deal as Christmas was, New Year had been a quiet affair. There had been another attack on the muggles on New Year's Day which had kept Harry and Ron busy. At the Potter house the three children were already packed and ready to head back to school. Due to safety issues, a floo and portkey system was set up so that the students could be transported directly to one of the many shops in Hogsmeade and take a carriage from there to the castle.

Most parents, because they had been students at Hogwarts themselves, took this opportunity to accompany their children to the magical village and experience some nostalgia from when they were students, even reminiscing with old peers.

"Come on let's go!" Albus called out from in front of the fireplace

"Oi, stop shouting! " Lily said walking into the living room with Harry, Ginny and James right behind her. Their parents chuckled, nodding as Albus looked at them expectedly. Albus grinned, stepping into the fireplace before disappearing behind a puff of smoke. The other Potters proceeded to do the same.

Rose and her family were already at Hogsmeade waiting for the Potters to arrive through the fireplace at Madam Puddifoot's tea shop. Rose sighed watching the fire cackle softly. The holidays had been overwhelming to say the least. After her talk with Albus, she had decided to send Scorpius's gift from her with a simple note that read "I hope you like it...Merry Christmas Scorp.' She hadn't received a letter or message in response but she wasn't surprised. Then the start of a new term had crept up on her, which meant soon, she would have to have a very uncomfortable conversation with Lorcan.

Scorpius was waiting in front of the fireplace for his father so that he could say his goodbyes. Draco would not accompany him as he had to work, but they both had agreed to take the floo so he waited. He had Rose's gift in his pocket, a crystal which would help him find magical creatures nearby... No doubt sourced with the help of Lorcan. Initially he wanted to discard of it but he couldn't bring himself to do so. It was a gift from Rose afterall...

Draco entered the room and patted Scorpius on the shoulder. Scorpius had grown a lot, almost as tall as his father now "Take care son.." he said, "And do well in exams, they are the most important thing right now"

Scorpius nodded and stepped into the fire place to Hog's Head Pub. Given the climate his presence wasn't welcome everywhere but Hog's Head welcomed everyone. He stepped out of the pub and saw Rose walking alongside the Potters. He quickly cut behind a shop to avoid being seen. He sighed. He hadn't spoken to anyone since Christmas….He suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder and saw it was Sienna, "Sienna! Hello, when did you get here?" He asked her. They had become friends over the period when they had worked together in the infirmary. He used to think she was rather abrasive and annoying when she was younger but Sienna had matured and changed a lot and he now regarded her as a wonderful friend.

"Oh, my mother insisted on being here early to avoid the mad crowds...we arrived this morning." She said as Scorpius simply nodded. She followed his gaze, grinning when she caught a glimpse of a red hair turning a corner. " Caught sight of a certain Weasley, have we?" She said lightheartedly. The few months before the winter holidays, Sienna had spent quite a bit of time working with Scorpius in the infirmary. And she'd realized that he had strong feelings for Rose. Surprisingly, Sienna didn't resent her for it. She had had a small crush on Scorpius back in third year, even getting into arguments because of it. But she found that she enjoyed having him as a friend much more.

"Yeah..." Scorpius replied, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. When he saw Sienna's questioning look he recounted everything that had taken place over the holidays. "And that's why I'm avoiding her…I'm waiting for them to disappear"

Sienna looked at him, eyes wide. "Why on earth would you do that?" She asked incredulously. "Just go talk to her... Unless you're planning to avoid Rose forever?" She said teasingly.

"Of course not... But I screwed up Sienna… Completely butchered any chances I may have had with her." Scorpius explained, daring to glance over at Rose just one more time. "I really don't want to make it worse... And besides, I should be focusing on the O.W.L.S….."

After a few minutes, Scorpius started walking towards the castle knowing that enough time had passed where the Thestral carriages would have already begun their journey towards the castle so there wouldn't be any chance of him running into Albus or more importantly, Rose.

Sienna rolled her eyes as she watched Scorpius walk away "Men..." she muttered , shaking her head as she began walking towards the castle as well until she finally caught up with him.

….

Rose hopped off the carriage she had shared with Albus, James and Lily. She stayed back for just a moment glancing at the spot where the Thestrals would be, knowing of course that she wouldn't be able to see them. Albus' voice pulled her out of her thoughts and she turned to walk with him up to the castle. "Have you spoken to Scorpius?" She asked him softly.

Albus looked at her and shook his head negatively, "He hasn't sent an owl... Or replied to any of my questions... The only letter I received was as a thanks for the Christmas gift... And a coupon for Flourish and Blotts."

Rose chuckled sadly "At least he sent you something...I gave his Christmas gift to Lila to take and haven't heard from him since we saw each other at Christmas..." she said as they reached the Great Hall.

Albus looked at her sad feeling for his cousin, "I'll knock him on the head when I see him at the dorms... But you have to give him time... He doesn't take loss well..." Albus said feeling for his best friend too. He knew why Scorpius was avoiding them. Albus and Rose were family... Blood was always a stronger bond... He was sure that Scorpius was doing that so Albus wouldn't have to choose sides. He was a noble git who would suffer for the sake of his friends. He suffered the last few months for Rose's sake and now he would do the same for him.

Albus wanted to find Scorpius and tell his best friend that Rose loved him back but the complicated thing was that she and Lorcan were still together. He had seen Lorcan's letter to Rose and it was clear that Lorcan was smitten.

Rose nodded sadly. As she was about to respond, she saw Lorcan arrive with his brother. Cursing under her breath, she instinctively grabbed a strand of hair "Merlin..." she said, her nerves overcoming her. Lorcan caught sight of her immediately, smiling which made her stomach feel like it was in knots.

"Hey Albus" Lorcan said as he walked over to them, "Mind if I steal my favourite Weasley for a moment?"

Lorcan then pecked Rose on the lips oblivious of the mental battle she was currently going through.

Albus looked at Rose who gave him a defeated look, nodding slightly. "Course. See you Rosie..." he said, giving Rose a weak smile as he went into the Great Hall. Rose took a deep breath turning to Lorcan. "Hi.." she said softly.

"You never replied to my letter," Lorcan said mischievously. "I suppose you didn't miss me that much…" He teased me.

"No….that's not what happened...The locket was beautiful, thank you...It's just I-" Rose said, pausing for a moment as she felt a few tears roll down her cheeks.

Lorcan's smile wavered as he saw tears fall fromRose's eyes and hurriedly took her hand in his. He was about to usher her towards a place more private where they could talk when his eyes fell on Scorpius who was glancing over them quietly from the entrance of the Great Hall.

Meanwhile Scorpius had just arrived at the castle, Sienna had waved him goodbye when a friend came up to speak to her.. Scorpius was searching for Professor Black in the crowd of those who were arriving when his vision fell on something bright red. He saw something that broke his heart even more than it already was. Rose was standing near the Grand Staircase with her head on Lorcan's shoulders as they stood hugging each other. She was crying and Lorcan was clearly trying to console her. At that moment he knew it was over... He stood there frozen looking at them for a moment when Rose met his gaze and her eyes widened in panic. Scorpius quickly looked away and left the Great Hall altogether, his fist balled in anger, disappointment and heartbreak.

This whole scene though, as it unfolded, was seen by both Harry, Marlene, and Sirius, who gave each other a sad nod of understanding. They had been having tea in Sirius' office then when they had arrived down at the Great Hall for supper, stumbled upon the young students.

Rose watched as Scorpius left, and she felt her heart drop. Her Sirius' gaze met hers giving her a sad look that said 'I'll look after him'. He turned to mumble something to Sirius and Marlene before rushing off after Scorpius. Rose gave her Professor a grateful nod before turning back to Lorcan.

Wiping away some tears from her face, Rose glanced up at Lorcan and in a soft voice asked him if they could get away from the crowd and speak somewhere private. He quickly agreed, gently pulling her towards a nearby empty corridor, as everyone would be in the Great Hall. Rose sighed and immediately felt a bit of relief at getting away from the curious faces that had been watching them. "Lorcan I...I don't know how to say this..." she said in a broken voice.

"You know you can tell me anything... Lorcan said but he already knew what was happening. It was obvious. Rose's reaction in the hall when she saw Scorpius, her not wearing the pendant he'd gifted her, and not replying to his letter….

Rose sighed, reaching into her pocket with a shaky hand before grabbing the pendant and taking Lorcan's hand in hers; the necklace between them. "I spent a lot of time thinking over the holidays and..." she said, tears falling as she tried to maintain her composure "You've been so kind to me...and that's why I want to be honest with you...I think..." she said softly.

Lorcan looked at the pendant with sad eyes "I know…" He replied softly, he held her hands in his "It's because of him isn't it... I thought maybe I had a chance because he would never confess, but I suppose I was wrong…." He chuckled sadly, his voice wavering.

He carefully opened the pendant and took out the photograph of them he had placed inside and gave it back to Rose. "Keep it..." He said before pocketing the other photograph, and locket turning around and walking away rather quickly. Lorcan didn't want to break down in front of Rose. He so badly wanted to argue that they shouldn't break up because of Scorpius but it wasn't of any use. He wanted to turn back…To tell Rose to give him another chance….That perhaps one day she could love him... It wa a nice fantasy. Lorcan sighed, leaning back against the brick wall of the castle as he stared out one of the large crystal windows. He smiled. It was a nice night for a flight.

Rose stared down at the photograph in her hand, and slid down against the wall of the empty corridor, wrapping her arms around herself as she sobbed quietly. The last thing she wanted was to hurt Lorcan. Merlin knows he didn't deserve it. But she also knew staying in a relationship with him while she loved someone else wouldn't be fair to him either. Rose silently prayed that Lorcan didn't loathe her from that point on. She wouldn't blame him if he did...He was a genuinely good person and she hoped that he could still be in her life, even as a friend.

…..

Meanwhile, Sirius and his old bones had managed to catch up with Scorpius. Scorpius saw the old head of house and stopped to look at him curiously, "Sir? Did I forget something?" He asked.

"Well, I would say dinner in the Great Hall...but something tells me something else is on your mind Mr. Malfoy?" Sirius asked lightheartedly. "Am I correct?"

Scorpius briefly contemplated sharing his troubles with Sirius but he suspected his Professor already had an idea.

"But you already know, don't you Professor? I just ... I just didn't want to hurt her...or ruin her relationship... But seeing them like that in the Great Hall... I just... She means the world to me and I nearly destroyed her happiness… That jealousy I felt-"

Sirius nodded understanding. "I understand Mr. Malfoy. And Miss. Weasley may be young but she is clever and the decisions she makes are her own..." As Scorpius nodded, glancing down, Sirius spoke again "And if I may be so bold, I suggest you speak directly to Rose and consider the possibility that those feelings might be reciprocated…"

Scorpius gave Sirius a weak chuckle," I doubt that Professor" he said sadly. Before he walked away he remembered something, "Sir I have been meaning to ask….What are the requirements so that I can submit the student exchange forms for my sixth and seventh year?"''

"Exchange forms?" Sirius was a bit surprised by Scorpius' question "Mr. Malfoy...are you considering transferring to a magical school abroad?" He asked curiously.

Scorpius gave him a proud look and said, "Yes professor... America to be exact ... MACUSA has amazing opportunities and is innovative in the medical field" he also added solemnly, "and given the current political climate of magical England it should be safer for me and my family too.."

Out of all people he knew Sirius would understand being wrongfully prejudiced against when he was young by his own family no less.

Sirius nodded sadly. It was true. Reports of recent attacks only continued to grow with each passing week. "Oh I understand, believe me...quite possibly better than most...However, let's continue speaking about this in a couple of weeks...And if it's still something you truly want, and that your father approves of...well, we'll go from there."

"Thank you Professor" Scorpius said gratefully and turned to walk towards the dungeons. He had not seen Albus yet, but if there was a place where he would be, it was going to be the dorms. He braced himself for an angry tirade that Albus was going to give him.

Albus had been anxious all through dinner. He had been absentmindedly eating and picking at his food while watching the doors of the Great Hall. Neither Lorcan, his cousin or best friend had shown up. A million different scenarios played in his head. The most obvious would have been a fight between Lorcan and Scorpius. But then he remembered Scorpius had once gotten upset over transfiguring animals into water goblets during their second year, saying that it was cruel to the creatures to do so. So Scorpius getting into a fight was unlikely. Once dinner was over, Albus practically ran out of the Great Hall, looking around for Rose or Scorpius. Nothing. He hurried to the dorms, knowing Scorpius would be there. Or at least he would be eventually. The man had to sleep sometime. Albus cursed under his breath when he arrived at the dormitory and noticed it was empty. Sighing, he laid back on his bed, waiting for Scorpius to show up, Hopefully soon, because he was knackered.

….

Scorpius had taken a detour and was in the infirmary assisting Healer Black with making potions for the new term. She had been surprised to see him there so late but Marlene knew Scorpius had a knack for the subject. And Sirius had already told her about his conversation with Scorpius so Marlene hoped she could hopefully talk some sense into her young pupil.

Scorpius was still lost in thought about what Professor Black had said. Maybe he should speak to Rose…He was bonked over his head by Marlene, "ow ow I'm sorry matron" he said rubbing his head.

Marlene shook her head, amused "And may I ask what has got you so distracted, Mr. Malfoy?" She asked lightheartedly. She knew of course of the small scene that had taken place outside the Great Hall at supper.

"Nothing Madam Black,..." Scorpius replied quickly "I'm just weary of making the same potions over and over" he said cheekily. "When will you teach me about the alchemy of magical ingredients? I am ahead of the fifth year curriculum."

Marlene raised an eyebrow, knowing entirely well Scorpius was attempting to avoid talking about Rose. "Indeed you are...But getting into the habit of continually creating simple potions like this one," she said gesturing to the pepper-up that was boiling in the cauldron in front of them. "will help you when you begin making potions with more...advanced ingredients." She said as Scorpius nodded.

Marlene smiled "All right, now off you go, it's getting late and I don't fancy Minnie-err Professor McGonagall putting us both in detention on your first day back, do you?"

Scorpius smiled at Marlene, "I don't fancy that either Madam" he said but paused for a moment as he stood by the door of the infirmary.

"Ma'am what do you reckon about the medical field in the states?" He asked nervously.

"America?" Marlene asked curiously "Well from what I've always been told, their medical system is a lot more advanced than ours...more modern. Why do you ask?"

"I have been thinking of applying for an exchange program... You know if it's really that much better then I can learn so much more" Scorpius said. He didn't include the fact that putting some distance between him and Rose would help his heart and mind heal. Although he knew he would never stop loving her.

Marlene nodded slowly, seeing the inner conflict Scorpius seemed to be going through. "We can talk more about this on your next shift..." she said smiling reassuringly "Now, off to bed with you before McGonagall transfigures us into something unpleasant." She said, amusement in her voice.

Scorpius nodded and headed straight back to the Slytherin Common Room. He hadn't realized how tired he had been. It was 9 o' clock to be exact so he would expect at least a few students to still be awake brushing up on homework and revising for the exams.

When he reached the dorms he changed into his pajamas and got a book of charms theory before getting into bed to read through it. He saw Albus lying on his bed and averted his gaze a little trying to concentrate on the book. 'He is probably asleep, I'll talk to him tomorrow' Scorpius thought.

Albus had fallen asleep with his day clothes still on. But when he heard the door of the dorm swing open, he's stirred awake and realized Scorpius was there, eyes glued to a book of his own. Quickly, Albus sat up, grabbed a pillow and threw it at him to get his attention.

Scorpius had barely any time to react before he was hit on the face with a pillow. He did not need to look around because he already knew the only culprit who'd do that, "Oi! And shouldn't you change into your pajamas Al?" He asked with a smirk.

Albus rolled his eyes "Hi to you too..." he mumbled "We didn't see you at Hogsmeade..."

"Must have been a timing issue..." Scorpius replied, looking back down at his book after throwing the pillow back at Albus. "I didn't see you at the Great Hall either."

Albus raised an eyebrow confused "What are you talking about? I was there the whole time...I was waiting for you and Rose to show up...but she never came to dinner either..." he said, frowning, hoping his cousin was all right.

"And you didn't check the map…." Scorpius said with a deadpan not taking his eyes off the book. "I had an early dinner because I had a shift in the hospital wing."

"James took it before we left the house..." Albus grumbled "I told him I didn't want to know what he needed it for. "He said, rolling his eyes. Watching Scorpius divert his attention back to his book, Albus grabbed the pillow and threw it at him again. He resisted the urge to smirk when Scorpius looked up at him incredulously. "Why didn't you reply to any of mine or Rose's letters?"

"I replied to your letter" He said, "Well just the one" Scorpius smirked.

"I didn't write back because I was finishing my holiday work and studying." Scorpius knew it was only a partial truth but he wanted to mess with his best friend a little. Scorpius threw the pillow back at Albus and cast a permanent sticking charm to it hoping it would literally shut his face but Albus ducked at the last moment.

"Oi, watch it!" Albus said, chuckling . "Also that one letter doesn't count... since all you wrote was "Dear wonderful, smart, clever, handsome best friend of mine...thank you for your thoughtful and incredible gift." Albus said with a grin.

"Now that doesn't sound like me…" Scorpius replied, rolling his eyes.

"Albus laughed before his mind wandered to Rose again. "Umm Scorp..." he said tentatively. Scorpius looked at him with a curious expression. "I think...I think Rosie's really upset...you know about what's been going on between you two lately. She feels as if you're avoiding her..."

Scorpius actually closed his book at this. He sighed and said, "To be honest... I am. I have hurt her a lot... And when I saw her and Lorcan at the Great Hall... It reinforced the fact that...that I'll only be a hurdle...And that she is happy. I don't want to be an obstruction in her life, I don't want to hurt her like I did on Christmas..."

Albus groaned, running a frustrated hand through his hair. He began pacing the room, at a mental war with himself. "Shit." he mumbled before finding his composure. "Honestly, Scorp, for someone so smart, you can be really thick sometimes." At Scorpius' inquiring expression, Al took a breath and continued "Rosie was with Lorcan because…. she was breaking up with him because she loves you! She told me over the holidays."

Scorpius looked at Albus, eyes wide. It didn't make sense to him... Why would she do that... She was happy. "That-s…What? So I did ruin things for her... " He said softly, glancing down.

Albus sighed "You didn't ruin things for her...it wasn't like you made her have a relationship with Lorcan...Also, did you not hear what I said? Rose. Loves. You." he said again, with a small grin. He knew how much and for how long Scorpius had been in love with Rose and now that his cousin had finally admitted to feeling the same, Albus couldn't help but feel happy for them.

Scorpius sighed. He was caught between feeling the shock and feeling overjoyed that his dream girl, his best friend that he'd loved for years, could love him back and the guilt of hurting her relationship. "That doesn't change the fact that I hurt her... And abandoned her after promising her that I wouldn't..."

"Yeah...you did screw up terribly " Albus said teasingly. "Just go talk to her mate...you know where she is. It may not seem simple but it is..."

Scorpius sighed and looked towards the window. It was very late and being the first night back he knew that it would be the Professors making rounds. Had it been Albus' turn to make the rounds as prefect then it would have been safe. So he did the only thing he could do. He stood up, walked over to the small desk by his bed, took a piece of parchment and scribbled, "Can we talk? Astronomy tower tomorrow at sunrise? -Scorp."

Albus was watching him curiously but shrugged when Scorpius left to find Sienna sitting by the fireplace down in the common room and begged her to let him borrow her owl by reassuring that it would be a very quick trip. She agreed and he sent the short letter to Rose. Scorpius headed back to bed, with a small smile on his face.

…..

Rose was completely exhausted after sitting in the empty corridor all through dinner. Her eyes were puffy from crying, and after she felt she had no more tears left to shed, she remained there, enjoying the quiet. That, and she felt she didn't have the energy to head up to the Gryffindor common room just yet. She sighed when students began to appear, giving her curious looks, a sign that it would only get more crowded soon, as students were headed to bed. Hesitantly, Rose walked up the moving staircase hoping she wouldn't run into anyone. To her luck, she made it before most of the other Gryffindors had arrived. Walking over to her trunk, Rose pulled out a pair of pajamas and settled into bed before she heard a tapping on one of the windows. Confused, Rose walked over to the window, opening it and saw an owl she didn't recognize. What was familiar to her, was the handwriting on the envelope it was carrying. 'Ros'. Rose took the envelope, eyes wide before opening it as the owl watched her curiously. Scorpius wanted them to meet. She couldn't understand it. But grabbing some spare parchment, she jotted down a quick reply. "Yes..." She then gave the letter to the owl before petting its head and watching it fly off. Walking back to bed, Rose felt somewhat lighter than before, falling asleep with a small smile on her face.
