Who is Croix Meridies

Luna Nova

There is only one constant in this universe and that is change. And that is what has happened to Luna Nova. Ever since Croix Meridies had started teaching at the school, nearly everyone from students to staff have been awing over her Sorcery Solution Systems or SSS for short. It also helped that she used this system to stop the non-teaching staff riot.

But not everyone was seeing her as the school's savior.

Currently Akko and her friends plus Diana's team were in the library working on a school project.

"This would be easier if all this was in the Magitonic database." Said Hannah as they needed a lot of books for their project.

"Even if it was, I'd rather a book." Said Barbara as Lotte agreed with her.

"I know there nothing better then having it in your hands and actually feeling it." Said Lotte as Barbara agreed with her.

"Those two sure love books." Said Amanda off to the side.

"Yeah." Agreed Hannah as she then saw Constanze glaring at a Magitonic tablet.

"What's with her?" Asked Hannah confused by the glare. She thought Constanze would love the tablet.

"Constanze tried to open a tablet up but got shocked by it. We had to explain the whole situation to Croix who said she got lucky the security system didn't fry her." Said Amanda with a frown.

"Why does a tablet need a security system?" Asked Sucy confused. She knew the need to guard research but that seemed a little much.

"It does seem a bit much." Agreed Diana as she looked over at Akko who had SLEEP's card in her hand.

"There's a lot that isn't adding up with her." Said Akko out of nowhere confusing everyone.

"What do you mean Akko?" Asked Amanda as this felt out of character for Akko.

"Why did the non-teaching staff riot? We were making great headways in the talks." Started Akko.

"They don't even remember why they got so mad." Added in Kero with a frown.

"We saw a fairy extremely weak when they saw it too. That's when the riot started." Said Barbara as she was grateful, she and Hannah got away from them.

"Do you remember anything else?" Asked Yue curious.

"No. We ran when things looked bad." Admitted Hannah as she didn't want to know what could have happened to them if they stayed.

"Why are you so worried about this?" Asked Amanda confused.

"When the riot started, I used SLEEP on everyone. But something forced them awake to continue the riot." Explained Akko as she never seen SLEEP fail before.

Hearing that surprised everyone as no one had ever heard of a Clow/Akko card failing before.

"It could be a one-time thing Akko. Have you ever used SLEEP on a non-human before?" Asked Sucy curious.

"No." Admitted Akko as she then added. "But even SLEEP was shocked by this."

"And while Akko never used SLEEP on a non-human before, Clow Reed has in the past and it worked for him." Added Yue as Sucy nodded.

"And then Croix showed up at the prefect time to stop everything." Continued Akko as Amanda gave Akko a look.

"There's something more isn't there Akko." Stated Amanda as Akko doesn't accuse someone like this, ever.

"She was in one of my dreams." Said Akko grimly.

"What sort of dream?" Asked Lotte as it had to be bad to make Akko like this.

Akko then told them the dream as it was nothing like the other dreams she had. It even spooked a few of them with the details they heard.

"Have you told a teacher?" Asked Lotte as she has in the past.

"No. And how can I right now?" Asked Akko with a sigh.

The girls looked at each other as Akko had a point. Croix right now was the school's hero. And they even changed the rules so she could have a lab on the school. That wasn't even including the lift on the technology rules.

"And there's another factor I think you haven't thought of Akko." Said Diana making Akko confused.

"What's that?" Asked Akko curious.

"Proof. All you have right now is chance occurrence and your dream." Diana told her as Akko really didn't have anything at the moment.

"She's right Akko." Said Yue with a frown as he didn't like it.

Akko said nothing as her gut was screaming at her to do something. That was when she looked at the tablet and got an idea.

"Her systems." Said Akko out of nowhere.

"Huh?" Said the girls confused.

"Think about it. How has Croix got her systems to this point without anyone hearing about it?" Asked Akko as the girls did think about it, especially Constanze. That was when they realized Akko might be onto something.

"Your right Akko. A system like this would have been talked about in some form or another." Agreed Amanda as she looked at Constanze who agreed with her.

"And to reach this stage would have taken a lot of time and money." Added on Sucy.

"I see where you're going with this Akko." Said Diana as it was a good route.

"What are you talking about?" Asked Hannah confused as the others were equally confused.

"Croix's systems are too advanced for the stage she claims it at." Said Sucy as it would take years to reach that point.

"And what does that mean?" Asked Barbara confused.

"It's complicated Barbara." Started Diana. "But if Akko can prove that Croix's research is farther ahead then what she is implying, then it could cause more people to look into her."

"But how can she even do that?" Asked Lotte as that requires resources and such. Something Akko doesn't have.

"She does have a point Akko." Said Kero with a sigh.

"Then I ask for help." Said Akko as this confused nearly everyone as they had no idea who she was talking about.

"You mean the Li's don't you." Stated Yue as they did have the ability to do it.

"But Akko, what if your wrong about all this and the Li clan get mad at you?" Asked Lotte as they were Akko's only real support at the moment.

Akko said nothing as Lotte had a point. But her gut and dreams have never failed her.

"What Akko could do is tell them everything she knows and about her dreams. Then asks them to look into Croix to ensure that everything is straight with her." Said Diana as she was more suited to this then Akko.

"So does that mean we're all going to Hong Kong?" Asked Amanda hopeful.

"We can't." Said Diana with a small frown.

"Using the Ley Line to go to another country is forbidden for students. Or did you forget that?" Stated Diana as they would get caught fast for trying that.

"Unless you have a teacher with you." Said a voice from behind a bookshelf. Everyone looked at the source and gasped when Professor Finnelan of all people walked out.

"Professor Finnelan?" Said the groups surprised.

"What do you mean by that?" Asked Kero curious as she didn't seem like the type to break rules.

"I've heard everything you girls just said." Started Finnelan as the girls gulped in fear.

"And I agree with Akko." Said Finnelan shocking the girls.

"You do?" Said Akko as she was having a hard time believing this as were the others.

"Yes. Your right about how things went with the riot and how quickly and easily she ended it." Finnelan told them as the girls were speechless.

"I see." Was all Diana could say as she wasn't expecting that.

"Are there other teaches who feel the same way as you do?" Asked Yue curious.

"A few have voiced their concerns about Croix. But like you said earlier many see her as the school's savior." Said Finnelan as their concerns weren't being heard.

"So you're going to help us get to the bottom of this?" Asked Kero hopeful.

"I do wish for some answers. As Croix's file did not state half of what she was able to do." Said Finnelan as wondered what else she left out.

"But before you even think about going to Hong Kong. Why not call them?" Asked Finnelan as while she was sticker for the rules a phone call is much safer then travel.

"I would, but what if Croix's machines hear me?" Asked Akko as she had a point. Croix's Sorcery units were seen flying about the school. She said they were to gather magic, but now Akko was wondering if that was all they were doing.

Finnelan said nothing as she highly doubted that. But at the same time, she doubted that a machine could have done half of what she saw the other day.

"Very well. I will escort you and one other to Hong Kong." Said Finnelan as Akko wondered something.

"Is that including Kero and Yue or not?" Asked Akko as that could affect her answer.

"Miss Kagari, we went over that in class." Scolded Finnelan as all the girls gave her a look.

"No we didn't Mam." Said Diana as Finnelan realized that was another grade that went over that.

"In regard to them, since they are technically adults, they are free to travel as they please. Within the confines of the laws." Stated Finnelan as the girls knew what that meant.

"Guess we aren't going." Said Amanda as she looked at her team who nodded.

"After all she is the best choice." Said Hannah with a bit of smugness in her tone.

"Yes." Agreed Lotte as this was a world she had no idea about.

Akko and Diana shared a look as they were right. Diana was the best person to help Akko, from her experiences with her family.

"Since that is taken care of, Miss Kagari let me know when you set up a meeting with Yelan." Said Finnelan as Akko nodded.

Later that night with the Hiiragizawa's Eriol, Rebecca, Spinel, and Ruby were having a meeting about Croix themselves.

"This is ridiculous." Said Spinel as he sat at the table with everyone.

"How so?" Asked Eriol curious.

"If you told those witches a few weeks ago that they allow all this at the school they laugh you off the grounds. But today they're all for it." Growled Spinel in annoyance.

"They're only human Spinel." Said Rebecca with a sigh. "They see Croix as the hero who saved the school."

"If only they knew she caused the whole situation." Said Ruby as she and Spinel saw the whole situation from the beginning.

"Yes. Croix doesn't seem to care about who she could hurt as long as she gets her results." Said Eriol as that type of person was the most dangerous type.

"So what do we do?" Asked Ruby curious.

"How so?" Asked Rebecca wondering where Ruby was going.

"Do we stay the way we are, or do we deal with Croix?" Ruby told them as it was a good question.

"That is a good question Ruby." Said Eriol as they didn't have many opinions.

"As much as I hate to say this we can't really do much about Croix right now." Said Eriol confusing Ruby.

"Why's that?" Asked Ruby curious.

"Right now, we're in the minority with the teachers involving Croix. And I fear that number will continue to fall. Add in that our proof would expose us as well." Answered Eriol as their options were limited right now.

"What if it gets to the point where we have to expose ourselves to save everyone. Will we do it, or not?" Spinel asked as that was a good question.

"If it reaches that point we will." Said Eriol without a second thought. "But I have a feeling Akko will get involved before that."

"Dear I know you believe in Akko, but don't you think this might be too much even for her?" Asked Rebecca worried.

"But she isn't alone." Said Eriol calmly. "She has her friends with her."

"Then I hope that they'll be ready for whatever happens." Said Rebecca worried.

"Me too." Admitted Eriol as this may be Akko's greatest trail.

Hong Kong, Li household

It was the weekend as Akko and everyone stood before the Li household. Akko got lucky that Yelan could meet with her so soon.

Akko then walked over to the door and knocked on it. They waited a few seconds until the door opened revealing Syaoran there.

"Syaoran!" Said Akko excited as she gave him a hug.

"Hello Akko." Said Syaoran as he returned the hug. Then he saw the others.

"Hello Diana." Said Syaoran as he parted from Akko and greeted her.

"Hello Syaoran." Said Diana as it been quite a while since she last saw him.

"Hello Syaoran, I am Professor Finnelan." Greeted Finnelan as she held out her hand to him.

"Hello Professor." Said Syaoran as he shook her hand.

"Come, my mother is waiting for you all." Said Syaoran as he led them inside.

"So how you doing kid?" Asked Kero as he flew over to Syaoran.

"I'm doing fine." Answered Syaoran as he was used to Kero calling him kid.

"Keeping up with your training?" Continued Kero curious as Akko has grown in many areas.

"Yes. Hopefully next time I face Yue, it won't end like the last time." Said Syaoran determined as Yue nodded to him.

"What happened?" Asked Diana curious as she knew Syaoran's skills.

"Akko didn't tell you?" Asked Syaoran surprised.

"No." Was all Diana said.

"It was the final test. Since both me and Akko had the Clow cards we were both tested. I went first. Nothing I did worked against Yue. I then used the TIME card hoping it would give me the time to think of a plan. But I didn't know TIME was under Yue's power. He was able to move freely when I stopped time and was quick to freeze me with it's power. Because of that I failed my challenge." Explained Syaoran.

"I see." Said Diana surprised. It actually made her stop and wonder what would have happened to her if she had the Clow cards and got tested. Because lately she's been realizing that her book smarts haven't been as helpful in situations while Akko's experience has.

Soon they reached their destination. Syaoran then opened the doors the reveal Yelan's study as she was looking over some papers.

"Mother I have brought Akko and her guests." Said Syaoran making Yelan put the papers down.

"Thank you, Syaoran." Said Yelan as she got up.

"Please sit down." Gestured Yelan as she pointed to a sofa and a few chairs around a table.

Once seated they got down to business.

"I must admit I was surprised when I got your call Akko. What is this all about?" Asked Yelan as she knew Akko wouldn't call her for nothing.

"You see it's like this." Started Akko as she told her about her dream and how Croix appeared and how she 'saved the day'.

"I see." Said Yelan as this SSS system sounded familiar somehow. But she couldn't place it.

"And why did you come to me about this?" Yelan asked Akko curious.

"I need to make sure that I'm not overreacting about any of this. But if I'm right about it, then what I saw in my dream will come true." Said Akko as Yelan thought about what Akko said.

As far as Yelan knew Akko's dreams always came true in one form or another. And if this dream came true then who know what damage could happen.

"Do you have any information about the SSS system?" Asked Yelan as more information was needed.

"Here's what Croix gave us about her systems and what her plans are going forward." Said Finnelan as she passed over a folder.

Yelan looked at papers inside and was intrigued by what she read.

"Now then walk me through what happened with the non-teaching staff." Requested Yelan as she read the papers.

"We weren't there when it happened. But according to Hannah and Barbara, my teammates, it happened when a fire spirt was attacked. When the non-teaching staff found out they went ballistic. They attacked students and teachers regardless." Started Diana as she repeated what she knew.

"Did they ever find out who attacked it?" Asked Syaoran curious.

"In the end, no." Answered Finnelan as nearly everyone forgot about what caused it to happen.

"That's worrisome." Said Syaoran as this could happen again as Finnelan agreed with him.

"What happened next?" Asked Yelan as some of this data caught her eye.

"That was around when me and the others found out what happened. I then used the SLEEP card to put them to sleep. It looked like it was working, until their riot was somehow renewed." Akko told her as this caused Yelan to put the papers down.

"The SLEEP card failed to put someone to sleep?!" Said Syaoran as that was unheard of.

"I'm more interested in what woke them up." Said Yelan thoughtful as she thought of another question.

"Why did they riot?" Asked Yelan as a hurt spirt would only explain so much.

"When I asked them about it, they don't really remember." Started Kero with a frown. "They just felt intense rage and that's about it."

"I see. Please continue." Was all Yelan said as she looked at one paper.

"When we were thinking about what to do next Croix's Sorcery units appeared and the non-teaching staff seemed drained. And like that the riot ended." Finished Akko.

"This system to take the magic out of the ground. Can it work on other energies and objects?" Asked Yelan as no one said anything.

"What do you mean?" Asked Finnelan a little scared.

"On the same principles to gather magic, what prevent it from working on people. Or to gather energies that aren't magic in nature?" Asked Yelan with a hard look on her face

"I don't know." Admitted Finnelan dumbfounded. "I'm a teacher not a scientist."

"But mother how could she drain anything out of anyone?" Asked Syaoran confused.

"How can she focus just on magic?" Retorted Yelan with a frown.

"What do you mean?" Asked Akko confused as was some of the others.

"Akko everything has it's own energy. And to target just magic so fast raises questions for me." Answered Yelan as some of the notes don't add up.

"Then she could have been working on this for years?" Asked Diana as that worked in their favor.

"What do you think would happen to humans if their magic got drained?" Wondered Syaoran out loud.

Hearing that made everyone wonder.

"It would damage their magic." Said Kero out of nowhere.

"Kero?" Said Akko confused.

"I think we finally found it." Said Kero serious.

"Found what?" Said Akko getting even more confused.

"Akko remember when we first meet. I said something was wrong with your magic." Started Kero as everyone was wondering where this was going.

"Yeah. But we could never figure out when it happened." Said Akko as they tried to figure it out.

"Yeah. But when we saw that non-teaching member drained. It seemed familiar to me, and it wasn't until Syaoran asked his question that things started to make sense to me." Said Kero as no one knew what to say.

Diana looked over at Akko, and saw she was just sitting there. She had no idea what she was thinking right now. So she did the only thing she could. She took Akko's hand in her own and gave it a light squeeze to let her know she was here for her.

"That's quite the claim Cerberus. But at the same time, it has no ground to stand on." Stated Yelan as it was a simple case of he said, she said.

"I know that." Growled Kero. But if he was right, then nothing Akko or Yue or anyone could do to stop him from going after Croix.

"But when could that have happened?" Asked Syaoran curious.

Diana and Yelan shared a look as they both had an idea. But they kept quite as it fit with their ideas, but without anything real to go on it would be like throwing gas onto a fire.

"Getting back on track." Started Finnelan as this was getting way above her paygrade.

"Of course." Agreed Yelan.

"Akko I will not lie t you. It seems you may have uncovered a very dangerous mystery here. The work that Croix Meridies has here is groundbreaking. But at the same time is worrisome. And even more curious is how all this flew under the radar." Said Yelan with a small frown on her face.

"So what does this mean?" Asked Akko curious.

"I will look into her for you. If what she is saying is true then her work will be a huge success to the world at large. But if things aren't adding up with her I will inform your school about this." Promised Yelan as she had a feeling the later was going to be the case.

"What do you think will happen if we find out that Croix been lying to the school?" Asked Yue as the result could be dangerous.

"It will depend on what she was lying about." Admitted Finnelan as the results of this investigation will determine everything.

"Thank you for doing this Yelan." Said Akko as she bowed to her.

"No, thank you Akko for bring this to me." Said Yelan as this technology could change the world.

"Then it's time we head back to the school." Said Finnelan as the girls agreed with her.

"May I use the washroom first?" Asked Diana politely.

"I can show you where it is." Offered Syaoran as he stood up.

"Thank you." Said Diana as the two walked off. As they did Yelan lead the other to the main door.

As Diana and Syaoran headed to the washroom, Syaoran spoke up.

"You've changed Diana." Said Syaoran surprising Diana.

"What do you mean?" Asked Diana curious

"You're more open than before." Said Syaoran as in the past she had this air around her. But that air was gone now.

"I could say the same about you." Said Diana as she felt the same about him.

"Yeah and I know the cause too." Said Syaoran as Diana knew it too.

"Akko." They both said at the same time. As Akko helped them both to grow.

"I do wonder what would have happened if your aunt sent you to gather the Clow cards." Said Syaoran as he saw the three of them standing together.

"You and me both." Said Diana as she wonders that from time to time as well.

"Will you come to a school close to Luna Nova and help us?" Asked Diana out of nowhere.

"I want to Diana. But there is no school close enough for me to be any help." Answered Syaoran with a sigh.

"Are you sure?" Asked Diana as she wouldn't mind him being closer.

"I am. After all whatever happens, happens fast. And Akko is always quick to respond. I would just be wasting my time." Syaoran told her as he thought about it a lot.

"I see." Was all Diana could say as he was right.

Meanwhile with the other Yelan had something she had to ask Akko.

"Akko what will you do now?" Asked Yelan as Akko looked at her confused.

"What do you mean?" Akko asked her confused.

"If what we're saying about Mrs. Meridies is true, then she affected your magic somehow. So what will you do near her?" Explained Yelan as Akko stopped.

"I don't know." Admitted Akko as she never had to deal with something like this before.

"You are right that we're not sure about if she reasonable for it. But none of my dreams have been wrong yet. And until I see one fail, I will trust them." Said Akko but they could hear the unsureness in her voice.

"And what will you do if you run into her?" Continued Yelan.

"I'll do my best to avoid her if I can. But if I can't I'll act civilized." Said Akko as she wasn't sure what to say.

"I see." Was all Yelan looked at Finnelan.

"And what about you, professor?" Yelan asked her.

"I will do my job. But if she threatens the students, then I will act." Answered Finnelan as while she didn't trust Croix, she will allow her to do her job.

"I see." Was all Yelan said as the continued on.

Later that night with Yelan she sat in her office as she was thinking about what she learnt today.

'A machine to absorb magic from the ground.' Started Yelan with a frown.

'It's a great stride forward. But what can stop it from going after other sources of magic. And why haven't I heard anything about it till now?' Wondered Yelan as she was a very powerful person and as such hears may things. But this was unheard of till now. But yet she felt like she was forgetting something.

'And why be a teacher? If she this brilliant of a mind she would have no problem getting investors and grants. If she came to me I might have helped her. So why didn't she?' Thought Yelan as a frown started to from on her face.

'And the information here is basic. Enough to make those with no idea about this sort of thing happy.' Continued Yelan looked at the files she got from Finnelan.

'I fear Akko your worries are much bigger than what you realized.' Finished Yelan as this was starting to make her worried.

A powerful new system that actually works. That can draw magic out of the ground. Made in secret by a person no one has heard of before. Yelan hoped she was wrong, but the facts were not adding up here.

First off in regards to the poll I started 6 people said I should continue this story, while 5 said I should restart. So I will be continuing this story. I may make the other story when I'm done this one.

Now in regards to this story I bet many of you are wondering why I went this route. I'm doing this because of Akko's dreams and how Croix appeared and saved the day. While in cannon Akko never thought anything of it. My Akko is different as she had one of the worst dreams ever involving Croix and the fact one of the cards failed to help her. Theses are red flags for her. Enough to make her seek out help.
