Chapter Three - Return
Harry Corvin, or as everyone else here in the Wizarding world knew him, Harry Potter, woke up with a start. Glancing around quickly, he took note that he was in some sort of primitive medical bay of some kind, judging by the beds. Moving to sit up, he was pulled back and panicked at seeing that his arms were bound to the bed. Releasing a small growl in frustration, he began to pull at them when a voice stopped him cold.
"Welcome back Mr Potter. Please do not panic, we have had to take measures to prevent you from harming our matron when you first woke from your slumber."
Turning to look towards the source of the voice, he spotted the ancient man he had seen when he had appeared in that mediaeval looking hall and Harry's eyes narrowed.
"I may have been disorientated but I know that I was stunned. This was an attack on an officer of the Empire and whoever is responsible will suffer the consequences of such an action!"
Dumbledore was taken aback by the almost oxford accent and venom in the young man's tone. He raised his hands in a placating gesture.
"Peace, Harry. I am afraid one of my members of staff stunned you when you raised your weapon in our defence only."
Harry tutted. "Regardless, I was attacked and now I am being held captive. However… I must ask you, how do you know my birth name?" He asked, apprehensive.
The oddly dressed man shot him a warm smile and withdrew a long stick from his robes before flicking it at Harry's restraints, causing them to vanish. Harry's eyebrows rose up dramatically at that. Harry had vague memories of making things vanish during his younger years, and he now he knew that he wasn't the only one with such a power.
"To answer your question Mr Potter, I was good friends with your birth parents, before they were killed. In fact, we have been searching for you for a very long time. As you can imagine, we have a lot of questions… for example, I must ask you how it is that you resemble a man in his early twenties, when I know for a fact you are only 14 years old?"
Harry rubbed gently at where the restraints had vanished from his wrists, eyeing the old man with a healthy amount of caution. "Considering you claim to have known my parents, I can only assume I am back on earth. I can only assume that time and space move differently in the galaxy, Mr…?"
"Professor Albus Dumbledore, if you please Harry." The old man said.
Harry cocked an eyebrow. "I see. I shall also insist that you refer to me as Captain Corvin, let us remain professional here. As I was saying, time and space move differently. If you believe I should be 14, then for you I have been away from earth for roughly 9 years. For me, it has been 16 years."
Dumbledore gaped slightly before composing himself, latching onto this new piece of information. "Corvin? I imagine that is the name of the family that took you in, is it?" He questioned.
Harry inclined his head. "Indeed. I was found and adopted by members of House Corvin of Corulag. They rescued me from that hellhole I once lived… with the Dursleys." Harry's face twisted into a look of disgust at the mention of his old 'relatives'.
The old professor hummed at this, looking thoughtful. "Well Ha- Captain Corvin" He stopped, catching himself at Harry's sharp look at almost calling him by his first name, so he started again. "Captain Corvin, I am afraid that you have somehow been chosen to compete in the Triwizard Tournament. How you have been entered I do not know, however the magic of the Goblet of Fire is binding. If you do not compete, your own magic is forfeit. And I saw your lack of surprise when I vanished your restraints, something that tells me you are somewhat aware of your powers." Dumbledore raised an eyebrow as he finished, watching as the young man once more narrowed his eyes
"Somewhat. It was mostly evident in my younger years, however it has been a long time… so, I assume there are more like us then?" He asked, curious.
The professor nodded. "Indeed there are many of us. In fact, this is a school of magic. You would have attended here yourself if you had not vanished from your home."
Something in the old man's tone informed Harry that he disapproved of his vanishing act, something Harry found amusing.
"Pity. Yet even if I had known, I would not have stayed another second in that hovel if I could help it, and thankfully, I could help it. Now-" He was cut off by the hospital wing doors opening with a loud bang, a tall man in black robes standing there looking frantic.
"Harry!" The man called, looking around the hospital wing frantically before spotting Dumbledore sat in a chair next to a bed, that contained a young uniformed man who looked uncannily like James. Rushing over, he gasps as he looks upon the young man's face. "H-Harry?"
Harry simply nodded, slightly bemused at the man's behaviour. "Do I know you Mr…?"
The long haired man gaped slightly for a moment before shaking his head almost like a canine before speaking. "Well I doubt that you would remember me, but uh… I am your Godfather, Sirius Black. Your father and I were the best of friends before he… well, before he passed."
The revelation that he had a godfather stunned Harry for a moment before he asked the question that Sirius had been dreading. "And just where in the Emperor's name were you when I was being abused by the Dursleys?"
Sirius' mouth opened in shock before shooting Dumbledore a filthy look that promised a hard conversation later on, before turning back to Harry, his face adopting a guilty look. "I was wrongfully imprisoned. I was accused of giving away your family's location to the Dark Lord, and it was only last year I managed to escape and have a fair trial… I am so sorry for what you went through Harry, I… I cannot even begin to apologise enough." The man looked like he was bordering on crying, causing Harry to grimace.
"It's… fine. Being in prison is a pretty good excuse as far as excuses go… It is nice to know that some part of my family is still alive at least." Harry raised an arm up towards Sirius ready for a handshake. "However I go by the name of my adopted family now, Harry Corvin. Captain of the Imperial Army, loyal servant of the Galactic Empire."
Sirius took the hand and shook it vigorously, at first looking heartened at Harry's words before looking completely baffled at the end of his little speech. The young Captain sighed before gesturing for Sirius to pull up a chair so that he could explain everything. Dumbledore for his part, had to leave and deal with the staff who were demanding to know what was going on. It was going to be a long night.
- Scene Break -
Harry and Sirius sat together long into the night, with Harry giving Sirius as much of an explanation as he could as to where he had been, what he had been doing, why he was now 21 years old instead of the expected 14 and most importantly to Harry, what the Galactic Empire was and its purpose.
At first Sirius was apprehensive and informed Harry that it sounded very much like a larger scale version of what the Dark Lord was attempting to achieve, causing Harry to scoff. He went into a brief history of galactic affairs, spoke of the Clone Wars that led to the rise of the Empire, the peace and prosperity the Empire brought and the Rebels that sought to destroy everything they had built.
When Sirius had suggested that the Rebels are perhaps simply fighting for freedom, Harry threw him a filthy look, causing the man to raise his hands placatingly. Sirius for his part, explained his search for him since his escape and exoneration from Azkaban, informing Harry of the existence of the Wizengamot, his role as Lord Black and the fact that Harry was also the Lord of the Potter family, information Harry took note of and stored away for later. Sirius also told him of the possibility of him learning to use his magic, something Harry hummed at but showed little excitement, much to Sirius' disappointment.
"Most people would be ecstatic at being able to use magic, you know." He stated wryly
Harry allowed himself a smirk. "Most people aren't me. Just because I have been returned back to Earth does not mean I can simply abandon my responsibilities elsewhere. Before I was… summoned, for lack of a better word, I was fighting Rebels on Imperial Centre…" At Sirius' confused look, he elaborated. "Imperial Centre, formerly known as Coruscant, is the capital of the Empire. Rebel forces or the 'New Republic' as they now call themselves were in the middle of an invasion. I was leading a company of the 227th Rifle Division defending the Imperial palace when all of a sudden… here I was." Harry let loose a sigh.
"Not to mention my responsibilities back on Corulag… the home of my adopted family. My father, Cornelius Corvin, could not have children of his own, and so made me the heir to the family. So I suppose I am the Lord of House Potter here and Heir to House Corvin… well, on another planet." He shot the Black Lord a grin.
Sirius however remained stony faced. He hated the idea of his Godson fighting a war, no matter the fact he was an adult now. "Well… what will you do now?"
At this Harry frowned. "Well naturally I shall try and find a way back to the Empire. However that does not mean I shall not also return here from time to time, although I would need to be careful. Technically this system was meant to be left alone as part of an experiment… but it doesn't matter. The Emperor is dead, so I doubt very much that his experiments matter anymore. In fact, I could perhaps even take you with me to Corulag, show you the galaxy."
Sirius still looked a little confused at half of what was being said, but could not help but grin at the fact Harry wanted to spend time with him. "I would really like that. It is so good to finally see you again after all these years…"
Harry gave him a warm smile. "It is good to know someone back here actually cares about me. Although I do look forward to getting back home, I have been missing Octavia since I shipped out for Imperial Centre."
Sirius' face broke out into a wide grin. "Octavia eh? Who might the lovely Octavia be, I wonder?"
Harry laughed lightly. "Octavia Ryken, daughter of House Ryken. We have been courting now for just over 5 months. I was actually planning on proposing when I next saw her."
The Lord Black gaped at his Grandson, once more remembering that the young lad was now 21. He gave his Godson a light slap on the back. "I am truly happy for you, Harry. It is good to know that you are happy and healthy, all these years it has played on my mind over and over again… but anyway. How will you return home?"
The young Captain reached to his utility belt and lifted off a small circular device which he then clicked the centre of. Seeing Sirius' confused look, he quickly explained. "Emergency beacon. They are usually reserved for senior officers, however all members of the House of Corvin carry them. Now that I have activated it, all I can do now is wait for their arrival."
Sirius started slightly, remembering. "Harry, what about the Tournament? If you leave you will lose magic!" This caused Harry to grimace.
"I had forgotten about that for a second. Well from what the Professor informed me, I shall have to participate in three different tasks that would normally be completed using magic. However, with my lack of knowledge of anything magical… Well, I will have to improvise. Once a ship arrives in answer to my beacon, I will have a better idea of what I will have at my disposal."
Sirius gave a nervous nod, unsure whether to be even more nervous or impressed at Harry's apparent confidence. Seeing the nervous look on his Godfather's face, Harry spoke once more.
"Sirius, I have been a member of the Imperial Army since I joined as a cadet at 16. I have seen my fair share of action, and a school tournament is not about to scare me."
Sirius nodded once more, feeling slightly better at Harry's words, before his eyes widened as he came up with an idea. "Well until your friends arrive, would you be willing to stay with me at Black Manor? I know this is all very new and all that, but I'd love for the chance for us to get to know each other more!"
Harry's smile could have lit up the room. "I'd love that, thank you. Perhaps you can teach me a thing or two about my home world as well…?" Sirius' smile lit up the entire room.
Author Notes: Hey guys! Hope you all enjoyed this one. I've never been all that good at writing conversations or fluff, but here is a bit of both. For all of his flaws, I really liked Sirius' character and I think the idea of him standing by Harry's side in the galaxy is cool as fuck. I've explained a few things in this chapter such as where Harry was before the goblet summoned him, what unit he served with and of course, what was happening at the time.
If you guys haven't realised already, I am basing it from Star Wars Legends, the books that I grew up reading. Most of the stuff that Disney has produced Star Wars wise I consider bad fanfiction to be ignored, but that's my opinion.
As you can see, it was during the New Republic invasion of Coruscant where Harry was fighting to defend the Imperial Palace. He will be in for a rude awakening when his friends arrive and tell him what happened there! Anyway, again I hope you all enjoyed the chapter- next one should be up very very soon.
