Chapter 47: Dark City Gym Battle Klara vs Lynn
"Looks like I'm up," Lynn said before walking down to the battlefield. As she passed Clyde, she congratulated him and patted him on the back. Soon Klara scanned her license and went to the back to get the Pokemon, while Lynn got into position.
Clyde meanwhile went to sit beside Ronnie Anne, where she gave him a congratulatory punch in the arm. "Great work out there Clyde!" Ronnie Anne said with a large smile. "Although I had to admit, you had me worried you were going to lose a couple of times."
"Yeah, I thought that too," Clyde said with a nervous chuckle, before putting on a confused expression. "However, Misty never told me about any of that the couple times I talked to her."
"She probably didn't want to worry you Clyde," the young teen girl said as she patted him on his back, trying to reassure him.
Before they could continue their talk, they saw that Klara had come back from the back room, and got into position. Both of them then decide to focus on the battlefield and watch their mentor's battle.
"This is an official match between Klara of the Dark City Gym and Lynn Loud Jr. from Royal Woods." The referee's voice was loud, clear, and echoed throughout the building. "Both trainers will be able to use four Pokemon, with only the challenger being able to switch out Pokemon. The battle is over when all of someone's Pokemon is unable to battle or one forfeits. The match begins now."
"Our first experienced trainer," Klara said in her sweet tone. "Let's show her what we can do, Golisopod!" She sent out a tall bipedal white insect.
"You're up Pangoro!" Lynn said, sending out the Daunting Pokemon. "Use Work Up and then Night Slash!"
"Then use Defense Curl and then Brick Break!" Klara said.
Golisopod curled into a ball and waited. Pangoro glowed brown, before covering his arms in dark energy and charging. He hit the curled up Golisopod, only for it to uncurl to hit him with a Brick Break.
"Alright, then let's see if it likes a Thunder Punch!" The Loud girl shouted.
"Take the hit and when it gets closer, use Close Combat!" The pink haired gym leader shouted.
One of Pangoro's fist was covered with electricity and he charged forward. Golisopod stood ready and wait for the hit. When it came, the Hard Scale Pokemon felt a large amount of pain, but stayed standing. It then started hitting Pangoro with a flurry of punches and kicks.
"Use Storm Throw Pangoro!" Lynn shouted, seeing her Pokemon taking a beating.
Pangoro positioned himself to take the hits, while being able to get in the attack. When he saw an opening, he then shot a claw forward and grabbed Golisopod. He then lifted it up and threw it over his head. Golisopod flew and crashed into the ground on its head, knocking it out.
"Golisopod is unable to battle!" The referee announced. "The winner is Pangoro!" Lynn let out a sigh, before doing a fist pump, while Pangoro let out a roar of victory. Clyde and Ronnie Anne were cheering loudly in their seats. Klara recalled Golisopod and got ready to send her next Pokemon.
"You're up Scizor!" The Gym Leader said, sending out a tall red prey mantis with large claws.
"You've done enough Pangoro, come back!" The athlete said, calling her Pokemon back. "It's time for you Lincoln!" She then sent out her newest Pokemon. "Start with Focus Energy and then use Cross Chop!"
"Then you start with Acrobatics!" The Bug Gym leader ordered.
Lincoln glowed with energy as it focused. Scizor took to the air, before diving towards its opponent. The Pincer Pokemon hit the Primeape as it flew by, only to get sent to the ground when Lincoln focused enough to hit it.
"Alright, use Drain Punch!" Lynn shouted.
"Scizor, use Sword Dance and then Aerial Ace!" Klara shouted.
Lincoln's fist glowed brown, before he charged. Scizor stood still and glowed for a bit, allowing the Pig Monkey Pokemon to hit it. However, it then took to the sky, before swooping down and hitting Lincoln.
"Do it again and finish this!" Klara said happily.
"Wait for it to get close," Lynn told her Pokemon.
Lincoln nodded and stood his ground. Scizor went back into the air and repeated the process. However, just as Scizor was close, Lynn told him what to do.
"Grab ahold of it and use Seismic Toss!" The Loud girl shouted.
Lincoln took the hit from Aerial Ace, but grabbed onto Scizor. He then jumped with him, while spinning, before slamming it into the ground head first. When the dust cleared, it showed Pokemon were knocked out.
"Both Pokemon are unable to continue!" the referee said. "This battle is a draw!" Lynn called Lincoln back and thanked him, with Klara doing the same with Scizor. Clyde and Ronnie Anne stayed silent, feeling a little bad Lynn didn't beat Scizor.
"Klara is strong," Ronnie Anne said, looking at the gym leader. "She technically beat one of Lynn's Pokemon. We only saw Sabrina do that."
"She is strong, but you're forgetting something," Clyde said, looking at his friend. "Klara beat Lincoln, Lynn's newest Pokemon. She has only been training him for a few days. Out of all the Pokemon she has on her, Lincoln is the weakest."
"Huh, I guess you're right," Ronnie Anne replied, thinking about what the boy just told her. They then focus back on the battle.
"Come on out Frosmoth!" Klara said, releasing a round, pure snow white moth.
"You're up Infernape!" Lynn said, sending out the Flame Pokemon. "Use Flame Wheel!"
"Frosmoth, use Fairy Wind!" Klara ordered.
Infernape rolled up into a ball and covered himself in flames, before rolling towards the Frost Moth Pokemon. Frosmoth waited and took the hit, and once Infernape was in the air. It flapped its wings faster, sending out pink energy blades and hitting its opponent.
"Use Flame Blitz!" The American trainer ordered.
"Use Dazzling Gleam!" Klara ordered.
Frosmoth's body glowed pink and released a flash of pink energy. The attack hit Infernape, but he shook it off. He then covered himself in fire and charged at his opponent. The attack sent Frosmoth flying, while Infernape was pushed back from the impact.
"Finish this with Flame Charge!" Lynn commanded.
"Finish it with Play Rough!" Klara commanded.
Frosmoth charged while covered with pink energy. Infernape charged as well, while covered in flames. Both crashed into each other, making a huge explosion. When the smoke cleared, Frosmoth was unconscious, while Infernape was still standing.
"Frosmoth is unable to battle!" The referee announced. "The winner is Infernape!" Lynn let out a loud cheer, while Infernape roared in victory. Both of her students cheered loudly, while Klara called her Pokemon back and got ready to send her last Pokemon.
"You're the last one, Scolipede!" The gym leader said, sending out a large red, black, and purple centipede.
"Infernape return!" Lynn said, returning her Pokemon back to his pokeball. "Let's finish this Blaziken!" She said, sending out the Blaze Pokemon. "Use Bulk Up, Focus Energy, and Blaze Kick!"
"Use Earthquake!" Klara shouted.
The Megapede Pokemon started stomping the ground, making the ground shake. Blaziken glowed brown and then white, while he was taking damage from the Earthquake. He then jumped high into the air, covered one of his feet in flames, and fell towards Scolipede with his flaming foot pointed at it. The Bug/Poison Pokemon tried to avoid the attack, but wasn't able to move fast enough and sent flying.
"Finish it with Overheat!" Lynn shouted with a smile.
Blaziken's whole body glowed red, before he shot a blast of red fire from his mouth. The flames hit Scolipede, just as it was getting back up, and pushed it across the battlefield and knocked it out.
"Scolipede is unable to battle!" the referee announced while holding their hand on Lynn's side up in the air. "Blaziken is the winner and Lynn Loud Jr. has won the match." Lynn ran up to Blaziken and high five him, before returning him to his pokeball. Ronnie Anne and Clyde stood up and cheered loudly, while making their way to her.
Klara called back Scolipede and sighed disappointedly, before putting on a genuine smile. "Congratulations, you certainly are a strong trainer," she said in a sincere tone, while walking up to her challenger. "For your hard work and for defeating me, I am proud to give you the Scorpion Badge." She then held out a badge that looked like a purple scorpion.
"Thanks," Lynn said, taking the badge with a smile. Meanwhile, her students had now joined her.
"So where are you going next?" Klara asked them curiously.
"Our next destination is Fuchsia City," Clyde answered for the group.
"So you're going against old man Koga next," Klara said, thinking about their answer, before smirking. "Then you better beat him since you guys beat me."
"That's the plan," Ronnie Anne replied with an eye roll and smirk.
"Well, we should book our room at the pokecenter," Lynn said to her students. Both nodded and they all left, with Klara waving them off.
